Your GA nomination of AFL Women's season seven

The article AFL Women's season seven you nominated as a good article has been placed on hold  . The article is close to meeting the good article criteria, but there are some minor changes or clarifications needing to be addressed. If these are fixed within 7 days, the article will pass; otherwise it may fail. See Talk:AFL Women's season seven and Talk:AFL Women's season seven/GA1 for issues which need to be addressed. Your GA nomination of AFL Women's season seven

The article AFL Women's season seven you nominated as a good article has passed  ; see Talk:AFL Women's season seven for comments about the article, and Talk:AFL Women's season seven/GA1 for the nomination. Well done! If the article has not already appeared on the main page as a "Did you know" item, or as a bold link under "In the News" or in the "On This Day" prose section, you can nominate it within the next seven days to appear in DYK. Bolded names with dates listed at the bottom of the "On This Day" column do not affect DYK eligibility. References

Hi sorry about before. I readded with references but one of my references belongs in the middle of that note not in the end. Do I still put the reference at the end or not?

Thanks Flipstatic Energy (talk) 12:57, 16 March 2023 (UTC)

Flipstatic Energy, see my last edit with regards to the overall issue, but to answer your question specifically, you would place it after the piece of information in the reference, which was the 1933 stat; so yes, you would have put it in the middle and then required another reference for the 2011 stat. 4TheWynne (talk contribs) 13:22, 16 March 2023 (UTC)

AFL Women's season seven Grand Final

I hate to ask, but the article on AFL Women's season seven Grand Final has been in the GA queue since November. Would you consider reviewing it? Hawkeye7 (discuss) 21:28, 16 March 2023 (UTC)

Fremantle Dockers season pages.

Hi I want to make up all the Freo dockers season pages which have been missing could you help me with the templates and stuff? Flipstatic Energy (talk) 09:00, 17 March 2023 (UTC)

Flipstatic Energy, unfortunately I wouldn't be the best person to ask, as I've never worked on club season articles before and am pretty busy on and off Wiki with other things – sorry about that one. 4TheWynne (talk contribs) 01:47, 27 March 2023 (UTC)

DYK for AFL Women's season seven

On 24 March 2023, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article AFL Women's season seven, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the Brisbane Lions' AFL women's team in the AFL Women's season seven became the first AFLW team to score more than 200 points across the first three rounds of a season? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/AFL Women's season seven. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, AFL Women's season seven), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

New win loss table template.

Hey what happened to the old win loss template? In my opinion the new and current one looks really bad.

Also why cant we order based on the team the club played or margin anymore? Flipstatic Energy (talk) 01:14, 27 March 2023 (UTC)

Flipstatic Energy, well, that's your opinion. All of the changes to season article sections/tables were made so that the formatting used throughout the article is more consistent; more specifically, the win/loss table was reformatted to better incorporate the ladder/match the ladder section, so the green is now part of the ladder column and the win colour was then changed to blue. The columns are sortable by margin, so I don't understand where you're coming from there. 4TheWynne (talk contribs) 01:53, 27 March 2023 (UTC)
Ill check again. I meant like in the 2013 page.
Also I was checking through the recent years to find the records of clubs with new afl coaches in round 1 and I found that the 2018 coleman medal leaderboard is broken. Flipstatic Energy (talk) 04:37, 27 March 2023 (UTC)

"did not appear to be constructive"

You think getting the Ladder onto the contents table at the top of the season's page is not a constructive edit?! You might disagree with it, but save me the insult, thank you 80.3.105.120 (talk) 12:31, 30 March 2023 (UTC)

AFL ladder

Have a look at any of the team season articles linked at Template:2023 AFL season. The new ladder completely breaks those articles. Steelkamp (talk) 04:08, 12 April 2023 (UTC)

Steelkamp, thanks for clarifying; see the discussion I opened at WT:AFL. 4TheWynne (talk contribs) 07:20, 12 April 2023 (UTC)

Gather round

I don't accept that AFL Tables - as a non-prose database site which will have hardcoded inflexibilities not suited to unusual occurrences - should be the gospel for our presentation of Gather Round statistics. From your edit summaries I'm pretty sure you agree with me that the correct thing to do is to base the team orders on the midweek coin tosses, and to exclude Gather Round attendances from the home matches table - we can justifiably use our prose references to support these adjustments. Aspirex (talk) 11:17, 17 April 2023 (UTC)

Aspirex, I understand where you're coming from, but no, I think including the attendances, leaving team orders as they were and explaining why is still making the most of the situation; at least this way, the table is complete/all home-and-away crowds are included and we aren't contradicting the source. All websites/databases and the TV broadcasts listed the teams in alphabetical order as well, so I think this way is fine; I was thinking that the websites/databases might adjust the team orders, but was always planning on including the attendances either way, just that I waiting to see which teams they would be designated to. 4TheWynne (talk contribs) 12:42, 17 April 2023 (UTC)
I can't accept that a table called 'Home matches and memberships' includes matches which are - per a clear prose reference - considered neutral and for which the club receives no according financial or membership benefit. I'm comfortable for a special 'Gather round' row to go in at the bottom to make up the sums for a full year attendance, since the AFL is effectively the host team on this. But we have enough references to call AFL Tables wrong on this. Aspirex (talk) 22:50, 17 April 2023 (UTC)
We have a single reference which says "No team will officially be the 'home' team", but nowhere does it say "For all financial purposes, including distribution of gate receipts, benefits and reserved seating for club members, the round [is] considered a neutral AFL event", plus we've clarified with a more recent source that there are home teams for match day purposes. I've changed the heading to simply "Attendance and membership" and clarified "Home match attendance (including Gather Round)", but I'm not comfortable with changing the table/presentation of the data further, and think that the explanation provided should be satisfactory. 4TheWynne (talk contribs) 02:13, 18 April 2023 (UTC)
Reference 6 is quite clear about the neutrality of ticketing and membership arrangements for the event and the lack of a designated home team. Then Reference 7 is clear about match-day home/away arrangements. Two separate references which explicitly state that Richmond (for example) was not a home team in any way. Although I don't agree with including the Gather Round any team's home attendances, I can't agree with including them among the alphabetical team's home attendances. Presenting the data as is while using a footnote to explain why that data is wrong – rather than using the references actually to rectify the data – is not the right option. As a compromise, how about changing the "Home + Gather" columns to just "Attendance" columns, incorporating home, away and neutral games? This would still be a factual representation of attendances, and it is not a number that can be disputed. (Unless we get into arguing about the imagined numbers we're forced to use for the curtain-raisers' attendances) Aspirex (talk) 07:34, 18 April 2023 (UTC)

Milestones and debuts

Hey what is up with the milestones and debuts pages recently. They seem really slow as lots of players have made their milestones but only a few are shown. Milestones has seemed to be low quality for a few years now.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_AFL_debuts_in_2023 also this is only up to date to round 1. Flipstatic Energy (talk) 06:49, 4 May 2023 (UTC)

Yes. What about my question before on the milestones and debuts Flipstatic Energy (talk) 00:39, 16 May 2023 (UTC)
Flipstatic Energy, apologies for missing that one. Unfortunately debut lists aren't my area of expertise, nor are they on my radar, as I've got a fair bit that I'm prioritising both on and off Wiki; I can't speak for everyone else, but my guess as to why nobody's been updating it would be that everyone's in a similar position. As for milestones, I'm not sure what you're referring to – are you referring to the milestones section at 2023 AFL season, or something else? 4TheWynne (talk contribs) 02:47, 16 May 2023 (UTC)
yeah. I added 2 dockers ones and they were removed for no reason. I get that maybe 50 games or 100 games arent notable but 150 should be at least Flipstatic Energy (talk) 06:10, 16 May 2023 (UTC)
Flipstatic Energy, generally the rule here, at least for games, is 200 minimum and every 50 after that; I'm not as sure if there's a set number for goals, but probably 400 minimum and every 100 after that, so double what we would do for games. 4TheWynne (talk contribs) 06:31, 16 May 2023 (UTC)

Hey how long Ago would Fremantle of had to last scoreds 100 points 3 games in a row for it to be a notable stat? Flipstatic Energy (talk) 14:08, 20 May 2023 (UTC)

@4TheWynne: Can you explain how its been established that this is not notable when noone has said anything about it?

Broken transclusions

Any thoughts on how to fix every broken/non functional transclusion as a result of moving away from the WDL template ladder for every V/AFL season that the ladder has been adjusted? Storm machine (talk) 05:27, 24 May 2023 (UTC)

Storm machine, the plan was to copy-paste the new ladders everywhere they're needed – I can't imagine there would be many transclusions, if any (other than finals series), for the early seasons anyway. I'm currently going through all of the VFL/AFL and AFLW season pages to fix and update the formatting of sections/prose, add/reformat tables, etc. and create a consistent format across the board; what would you have against changing the format of the ladders other than transcludability and the amount of work (neither of which will be relevant once I've covered them all anyway)? So far that seems to be the only real pushback. 4TheWynne (talk contribs) 07:03, 24 May 2023 (UTC)

AFL season page

That's already looking much better. I suggest events be split from background and moved below the season results to preserve the chronological basis which was established when club leadership was moved to the top of the page. Aspirex (talk) 21:34, 5 June 2023 (UTC)

Also, re one of your comments, WP:ONUS. In a dispute is the editor who seeks to include, not the editor who seeks to exclude, who needs to gain consensus. Aspirex (talk) 21:38, 5 June 2023 (UTC)
Aspirex, if events was to be split from background, I think directly between pre-season and home-and-away would be a better position, as we would otherwise be essentially bundling events with season notes (which makes sense to place lower, as they kind of rely on results, whereas events don't have to; will also mean we're spreading the prose elements a little more evenly), so just did that then. As for your other point (I would counter with WP:STATUSQUO, given the content had actually been there/in that format for a while), I don't think this case is as clear-cut as I've just added content and you've removed it because it wasn't appropriate; you wanted to reduce the content to a single table row at the time, and your rationale for doing so was simply that it didn't suit the background section and to be more "efficient", which I just found really perplexing and not the best direction for the article. Nevertheless, I feel like we're more on the same page now (or at least in agreeance that the content belongs and it looks better how it is now), so happy to leave it there if you are and continue building on it. 4TheWynne (talk contribs) 01:22, 7 June 2023 (UTC)
WP:STATUSQUO hardly applies to something which multiple editors (Fliptastic, you and I) had been editing over the top of each other for a mere three weeks since it first happened on 19 May. Aspirex (talk) 22:00, 9 June 2023 (UTC)

Hey

In the Fremantle VS Richmond game the commentators mentioned on the broadcast it was a record crowd between the sides but noone wrote about it anywhere. Can it be added without the source Flipstatic Energy (talk) 01:58, 27 June 2023 (UTC)

Flipstatic Energy, no, of course not. 4TheWynne (talk contribs) 05:08, 27 June 2023 (UTC)
If you know though where it was said, you can use an oral source. The source doesn't have to be written - video and audio is legitimate sourcing too, as long as it's reliable and verifiable. --SuperJew (talk) 05:19, 27 June 2023 (UTC)
I dont think you can find a video of the broadcast and i dont even remember what quarter Flipstatic Energy (talk) 10:53, 27 June 2023 (UTC)
Flipstatic Energy, a better idea might be to just source AFL Tables, only if we can't find anything else, but we're trying to favour other sources like news articles, match reports, etc. if possible. For example, this article came out just today detailing Collingwood's record-breaking home-and-away crowds this season, and there have been others added throughout the season as well, but you should know better by now than to ask if we can just add something without a source. 4TheWynne (talk contribs) 12:17, 27 June 2023 (UTC)

Overreacted

I got a little annoyed when all the edits of all the results I did got removed. I've fixed today's results and will do the sorting at the end of the round for the win-loss table (if it's for the order of margins) Flipstatic Energy (talk) 11:25, 15 July 2023 (UTC)

Flipstatic Energy, you're either making mistakes or not completing/formatting the edits properly; like a lot of editors present at the article, everyone just wants to get in first, and it affects the quality of the article. When this happens – and it's happened a fair few times this season alone – it's easier for me to simply revert back and do it properly, which I was in the middle of doing before you jumped back in; I've had to do this several times now (e.g. when I've been at work and haven't been able to update the article until later in the day), as it appears that you and the other less experienced editors just aren't learning. And you reckon you feel a little annoyed... 4TheWynne (talk contribs) 12:28, 15 July 2023 (UTC)
Ok sorry.
Also I was annoyed they had been reverted so my message seemed a bit worse and confrontingish so I had edited it when I figured out what I had done wrong. Flipstatic Energy (talk) 12:32, 15 July 2023 (UTC)
Btw could you guide me what to do for ages and references in the debuts page? Flipstatic Energy (talk) 12:41, 15 July 2023 (UTC)
Flipstatic Energy, you still made mistakes/weren't fully updating the tables, so I'm not sure you're understanding; for example, please don't update the ladder if you aren't going to update the positions as well, and don't update the win/loss table if you aren't going to update the ladder column and add sorting in the same edit. Unfortunately I don't have a lot of time to focus on anything outside of my usual weekly edits/the pages I'm watching at the moment, as well as what I have going on off-Wiki; given my aforementioned frustrations, and the fact that I haven't worked on (or barely even read) these debut lists before, I'm probably not the best person to ask anyway. 4TheWynne (talk contribs) 13:08, 15 July 2023 (UTC)
I had updated positions the first time but i thought it fell under not adding formatting.
Also I think I have found a way to do the ages but would be inefficient. I have figured out the references though I believe. Flipstatic Energy (talk) 13:48, 15 July 2023 (UTC)

Template:Australian_rules_football_ladder_progression_legend

Morning. Noticed at the 1897 season page: you'll need to make a tweak to the above template so that the yellow entry can be altered from "top eight" to "top whatever number made the finals that year". Aspirex (talk) 00:42, 16 July 2023 (UTC)

Small Question

When should I start making pages for the newer AFL players if I decide to do them? (Like how many games do they need to play) and what should I be putting in them from the start? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2023_AFL_Rising_Star has a few players without pages so I want to be able to do those. Flipstatic Energy (talk) 10:25, 19 July 2023 (UTC)

Have a look at WP:ATHLETE. Basically there should be 2-3 reliable independent sources. --SuperJew (talk) 11:01, 19 July 2023 (UTC)
As a general rule of thumb, most AFL players who've played one game meet the notability requirements. --SuperJew (talk) 11:02, 19 July 2023 (UTC)
Tbh I might do this years rising star nominees and notable players who debuted this year and leave it at that at the moment. Flipstatic Energy (talk) 09:37, 20 July 2023 (UTC)

The Mechanix is a Metallica song.

The Mechanix was originally by Metallica. It appears on the Power Metal demo and No Life 'Til Leather. Why did you remove the article from "other songs" in the Metallica navbox? It's a Metallica song. It's even acknowledged as a Metallica song on Metallica's official website. As seen here. https://www.metallica.com/songs/the-mechanix.html

Just because they re-worked the song into a different song for the studio record and Mustaine used the original concept for Megadeth's debut studio album doesn't remove Metallica's ownership of the original. 80.189.121.239 (talk) 18:05, 19 July 2023 (UTC)

Another question

I was reading the Chris Scott article on Afl.Com.Au and it said that other than him becoming the geelong games coached record holder he is also 3 games behind the most games coached at GHMBA.

If Scott does coach 3/4 games at GHMBA stadium this year and passes Reg Hicket for that will that be notable for the milestones section or not? Flipstatic Energy (talk) 05:10, 26 July 2023 (UTC)

Flipstatic Energy, no – should just be kept to the articles for Scott and the Geelong Football Club. 4TheWynne (talk contribs) 13:16, 28 July 2023 (UTC)
OK. But I swear I thought I had seen a coaching games record in the milestones section before. I must be imagining it. Flipstatic Energy (talk) 03:30, 30 July 2023 (UTC)
Flipstatic Energy, milestones and records are two different things. For example, umpire Brett Rosebury reaching 500 games was a milestone, whereas reaching 503 games this round was a record; records are mentioned in the game notes or season notes, not in the milestones section. 4TheWynne (talk contribs) 12:51, 6 August 2023 (UTC)
Ok. I actually thought I had seen it before in a previous seasons but I must not be remembering it correct. Flipstatic Energy (talk) 23:44, 6 August 2023 (UTC)

question

Hey since I am always looking for improvement can you tell me what I did wrong which you needed to fix on the 2023 article. I thought I checked everything multiple times. Flipstatic Energy (talk) 16:22, 29 July 2023 (UTC)

@4TheWynne: Also on the round 20 do I still have to cite that west coasts record losing streak was broken when the match report would be linked right above? Flipstatic Energy (talk) 09:30, 30 July 2023 (UTC)
Flipstatic Energy, that's a silly question. I honestly think you should consider taking a step back from the article to observe (especially when it comes to sourcing, formatting, etc.), as I've already tried to explain several things to you and don't have time to keep doing so; furthermore, you should also try to learn from/ask other editors instead of just coming to me and bringing up every little query/thought that pops into your head, as the new sections you've started on my talk page over the last few months currently total 14. 4TheWynne (talk contribs) 10:30, 30 July 2023 (UTC)
1. I thought I had formatted everything I had changed properly. (At the time no crowds had been announced)
2. You are literally the only active editor on the page atm.
3. I will try go here less and ill delete some of my trash topics Flipstatic Energy (talk) 10:47, 30 July 2023 (UTC)
Flipstatic Energy, you need to use common sense; edits like these – [1] (the season is still ongoing), [2] (of course Fremantle's still a mathematical chance, even if it's unlikely) – aren't helpful, and part of the reason I suggested you take a break from the article. 4TheWynne (talk contribs) 12:30, 6 August 2023 (UTC)
Firstly I do not understand why we can not be ahead of time especially when we know that something is going to happen. If we cant add when Alastair Clarkson will coach their last game this year which is 100% happening in my opinion then why do we add the intern coaches first games before that first game has been played.
Also I made a mistake and did the maths wrong. Flipstatic Energy (talk) 23:14, 6 August 2023 (UTC)
@4TheWynne: I just read this article on afl.com.au (which is a notable source)
https://www.afl.com.au/news/995951/lions-learn-from-mcg-heartbreak-freo-ponder-what-could-have-been
It says here:
The loss ends any chance of Fremantle playing finals after an inconsistent season that has seen them beat Melbourne at the MCG, reigning premier Geelong twice, and fall just three points shy of their top-four opponents on Sunday.

I wont change anything though but regardless of a win or a loss if GWS, Saints and Buldogs all win at least one more game its impossible if freo win 3/3 from here.

Flipstatic Energy (talk) 03:27, 7 August 2023 (UTC)

@4TheWynne: Should I just add it back because I now have 2 reliable sources saying Freo have no chance at winning a final. (The West newspaper and the above link) Flipstatic Energy (talk) 11:17, 7 August 2023 (UTC)
Flipstatic Energy, leave it alone. Fremantle is still a mathematical chance, as it can finish equal with teams 6–8 on points; it would need to make up a decent percentage gap, making it extremely unlikely, but not impossible, despite what a couple of sources say. "unnecessary extra formatting"

Your edit of 14:37, 13 August 2023‎ (UTC) of 2023 AFL season was summarized "Restored revision 1170124584 by 106.71.97.50 (talk): Restoring to fix (including removing unnecessary extra formatting); Fremantle and Gold Coast have NOT been eliminated yet, as only two wins separate them from the Western Bulldogs in eighth with two rounds to go."

I assume that you believe that markup such as "align=center" and "bgcolor=...", with or without quotes, is considered acceptable. This markup is not HTML5-compliant, and we are working to replace it with HTML5-compliant markup. I put a lot of work into this, and I shouldn't have to do it all over again. In the future, please do no not change HTML5-compliant markup into non-compliant markup. For more on this, see mw:Help:Lint errors/obsolete-tag. —Anomalocaris (talk) 23:05, 18 August 2023 (UTC)

AFL Edit

What was wrong with my AFL edit? Whitemancanjump23 (talk) 08:03, 20 August 2023 (UTC)

I thought the incident was significant enough to warrant its own mention on the 2023 AFL season page. How does this make it disruptive? Whitemancanjump23 (talk) 08:05, 20 August 2023 (UTC)

Whitemancanjump23, the goal review controversy had already been added to a more appropriate section. 4TheWynne (talk contribs) 08:09, 20 August 2023 (UTC)
Ok but you can let me know in a classier way than the obnoxious message you sent. Whitemancanjump23 (talk) 08:11, 20 August 2023 (UTC)
Whitemancanjump23, you repeated information that already existed in the article, put it in a section that wasn't appropriate, and gave it a header that wasn't encyclopaedic – it was a disruptive edit, and I warned you appropriately. 4TheWynne (talk contribs) 08:34, 20 August 2023 (UTC)
Some might say that a team's season ending due to a clear umpring error is more significant than say Essendon scoring its lower score against GWS and maybe needs to be highlighted. It's not like AFL siren controversy but on the 2006 AFL Season the incident in mentioned both in 2006_AFL_season#Round_5 and 2006_AFL_season#Notable_events Whitemancanjump23 (talk) 08:42, 20 August 2023 (UTC)

Question

Xevres keeps removing your warnings from their talk page is that allowed? I want to know if it is and im allowed to do the same with mine.

Also can any user warn another user for disruptive edits? (so basically would I have been allowed to warn them when they kept adding the information they were not supposed to be adding?) Flipstatic Energy (talk) 10:58, 26 August 2023 (UTC)

sure you can if you want - it's your talk page. Just take into account that removing them doesn't mean you can ignore them - if you remove them, the assumption is you read them (and they will also still appear in the edit history). --SuperJew (talk) 18:38, 26 August 2023 (UTC)
Ok. Also do you have a answer for the second question? Flipstatic Energy (talk) 01:21, 27 August 2023 (UTC)
Flipstatic Energy, yes, you can remove whatever you want from your talk page, and yes, technically any user can warn other users, but you're still a relatively new user yourself – you've only been on Wikipedia for a year and just ticked over 300 edits, and are only just starting to familiarise yourself with policies, rules, etc. – so perhaps wait until you've had more experience/you stop earning these warnings yourself and leave that to me and other experienced editors. 4TheWynne (talk contribs) 03:18, 27 August 2023 (UTC)
Ok thank you.
Also how do I stop forgetting the source like I did yesterday and so I do not get warned again. Flipstatic Energy (talk) 03:49, 27 August 2023 (UTC)

Question

Hey Wynne, I am sorry to bother you but I have noticed that none of the awards like coaches votes and AFLPA MVP are on the 2022 AFL season page. Is there a reason for this and if there is not would it be ok if I added them? Flipstatic Energy (talk) 11:10, 29 August 2023 (UTC)

Flipstatic Energy, there's no reason why you can't include major awards in the article, no, but it should just a summary of who won what (don't include tables of votes, etc.), and everything must be sourced – see AFL Women's season seven#Major awards for an example of how it should look. 4TheWynne (talk contribs) 13:47, 10 September 2023 (UTC)
Ok I might use my sandbox at first.
Also havent the Preliminary Final venues been added to the wikipedia after quater finals before? Flipstatic Energy (talk) 01:53, 12 September 2023 (UTC)
@4TheWynne: I have noticed that there are no awards on articles since 2018. Do you know if there has been a discussion at all about including/not including them? Flipstatic Energy (talk) 11:04, 14 September 2023 (UTC)

Dustin Martin Wikipedia Page

Mate your so protective over the resume of the GOAT Dustin Martin that you aren't even bothered to state how many Jack Titus, Maurie Fleming and Fred Swift medals he's won. This is only going to enhance his profile rather than having your cock throb be in charge and determine what gets to go up there and what doesn't JoeMalone2002 (talk) 06:24, 5 October 2023 (UTC)

JoeMalone2002, this very topic is being discussed at project level (see this discussion); maybe check in over there first – better yet, actually contribute – before singling me out. But no, even before the discussion, simply placing in a club best and fairest (even if such things have awards at certain clubs, like Richmond) isn't considered an honour to the same level as the other achievements that are normally included in the infobox. 4TheWynne (talk contribs) 08:44, 5 October 2023 (UTC)

Paul Bettany

Hi there, Respectfully, I disagree with your revert on Paul Bettany. He is an American and British citizen (incidentally there is no English citizenship). He makes his home in America, has an American spouse as well as importantly he has American citizenship. He's an English-American actor (or more correctly, a British-American actor) Sanbear (talk) Sanbear (talk) 13:21, 16 October 2023 (UTC)

AFLW season titles

Hi Joshua,

I can see you've reverted my edits changing S6 and S7 to 2022 (S6) and 2022 (S7) on a couple of articles. By my reading, 2022 (S6) and 2022 (S7) are consistent with consensus achieved here. Is there consensus achieved elsewhere which supports just S6 and S7? If you'd like to open another discussion, that's fine, but as far as I can tell they are currently against consensus.

Also, I'd like to request respectfully that, if you're reverting other editors' work which was clearly made in good faith, you please include at least an explanation in every edit summary. I can see now that you included one on Marinoff, but I had to look through your contribs to find it. Thanks, Jjamesryan (talk | contribs) 04:23, 19 October 2023 (UTC)

Jjamesryan, the short(er) form of "S7" has been used for accolades, etc. since we first discussed changing the titles of the relevant articles to "season seven" before the start of the season last year, and the more recent discussion never addressed getting rid of "S6/7", as it was more about adding 2022 to titles and swapping "S7 (2022)" to "2022 (S7)", etc., so they aren't against consensus; having this shorter form for accolades was to avoid something like "2022 (S7) (c)", as opposed to "S7 (c)". 4TheWynne (talk contribs) 12:23, 19 October 2023 (UTC)

Paul Bettany talk page

Hi there, You admonished me for restating my opinion and debating in good faith, just as Eric and KyleJoan were doing, though in the latter cases, they were agreeing with your stated opinion. I was pointing out the fact you called me out on it and nobody else. You are allowed to debate your opinion, but you seem to want to make sure I don't. Why was I singled out for defending my argument and not the other contributors?

And, you'll note that I had a type, I had the wrong wiki markup on your username, so I deleted it. I was on the tube (it's the metro system in London, so underground). Came out, went to work, and at lunch reformatted it and reposted.

I hope you have a good day!

Essendon Edit

Hi mate On the Essendon Football Club's McClelland Trophy count. The idea was to let the audience know what format each McClelland Trophy was won under. As I was about to do that for every club, my question was what was wrong with the edit.

Thanks and have a good day. 2403:4800:8442:BD00:E47B:6188:F3DB:DC9F (talk) 14:03, 2 November 2023 (UTC)

3 days?

https://www.hawthornfc.com.au/news/1459924/tam-luke three days ago. Thoughts?FlagPies23 (talk) 05:07, 6 November 2023 (UTC)

FlagPies23, it will say "3 days ago" until it reaches the same time the next day as the time of publication – that's how these club websites seem to work; for example, if the article was published at 7:30pm on 2 November, it will say "3 days ago" until 7:30pm tonight, when it will update to four. If you actually looked at the page history, you'd find that I added the entries and sources on 2 November – how would I have been able to do that a day early? Before you go "Well, how was I supposed to know?", ask first if you don't think something looks right instead of just messing up the article and getting salty when I pull you up for it. No need to be provocative with the user talk headers, either... you're on thin ice as it is. 4TheWynne (talk contribs) 06:01, 6 November 2023 (UTC)

FlagPies23, better off just waiting until most/all of the information that's missing (rather than TBCs) comes to hand, and then yes, you and/or others can reverse the redirect and start the article properly. Also, no need to tag me on my own talk page... 4TheWynne (talk contribs) 14:22, 7 November 2023 (UTC)

I really don't want this page to be deleted. As you have cited, There is 3 things wrong with the page. Is there anyone you know who could help me. I also added a non free tag because on fox sports it says nothing about it being Copyright-restricted in the United States. I need an admin/you to say yes or disagree to it. Hi can I get rid of the reliable sources error. I think they are all reliable and I have added some more under the section "Collingwood Football Club presidents"? Thoughts? MrFlyingPies23 (talk) 22:04, 6 November 2023 (UTC)

Reason for revert

Hey 4TheWynne. Why did you revert the edit I made on 2023 afl women's season? I added the scores. Thanks. MrFlyingPies23(✍) 10:51, 12 November 2023 (UTC)

MrFlyingPies23, I had a similar problem with other editors earlier in the year at the AFL season article where a lot of updates were formatted incorrectly/untidily, and I found it easier to simply revert and start over than try and pick out each little mistake. Oddly enough, one such user also kept starting section after section on my talk page, which got pretty tedious after a while, and with six new sections in six days, you're very much in the same territory – my point being, you don't have to message only me with every little question/problem you might have, as there are other people within the project that you can talk to as well and I don't have time to respond to everything. Additionally, if you're going to attempt another username change, come up with something a bit more original than simply ripping off mine... and it looks to me like you might have ripped off someone's signature too. 4TheWynne (talk contribs) 14:24, 12 November 2023 (UTC)
No I haven't ripped anything. MrFlyingPies23(✍) 20:30, 12 November 2023 (UTC)
I need to change my user is is mixed in with my real life name. They say are can't change it because I changed my last username 5 days ago. Uh oh. Thanks. MrFlyingPies23(✍) 21:29, 12 November 2023 (UTC)
I was thinking of 60ThePies. I need to change it because I don't want to be harrassed or personal attack. I know I changed it 5 days ago... What can I do? MrFlyingPies23(✍) 21:33, 12 November 2023 (UTC)
MrFlyingPies23, you made a request to change to your username to 4ThePies, and given our recent association, yes, you were ripping off my username (and I highly doubt a user as new as yourself could have come up with that signature, or a lot of the stuff on your user page, on your own). I honestly don't understand what the problem is here (how part of your legal name is in "MrFlyingPies23", how this somehow opens you up to supposed harassment/personal attacks, or how making yet another request to change to "60ThePies" resolves this); I think you're better off leaving the username and holding off on making more requests to avoid annoying administrators. Perhaps removing some of your personal information/stuff relating to your obsession with Collingwood (which I'm guessing is where you've derived the nickname "Fly") might draw less attention to yourself. 4TheWynne (talk contribs) 05:09, 13 November 2023 (UTC)
I came up with the signature because I looked at a guide. Wikipedia:Signature tutorial It's not that hard. My real name believe it or not is Fly. You can check my user infobox too. So now your using assumptions. That kind of hurts me. I'm going through a lot of stress to start with, and your not helping. Now you are not letting me change my username because you think it's not mixed it with my real name. You assume I'm a new user I'm not really, I'm pretty experienced now, if you think I'm carrying on it's because I'm going through significant stress and depression. Thanks. 😫👍 MrFlyingPies23(✍) 05:31, 13 November 2023 (UTC)
I want to change my username BECAUSE MY NAME IS IN IT UGG😭😭. How long till I can change it, please ASAP. P.S I actually thought you were an administrator but your not (just a thought) Thanks. MrFlyingPies23(✍) 05:36, 13 November 2023 (UTC)
MrFlyingPies23, your infobox read "Zac" until yesterday, so I can only go by what I've seen. No, I'm not an administrator, and no, I'm not preventing you from changing your username, just suggesting that you leave it (and no, I don't know how long until it's appropriate to request another change). You've only been on Wikipedia for two-and-a-half months – regardless of how many edits you make/how much you learn in that time, that's still pretty new, and from the recent conversations on your own user talk page (I wholeheartedly agree with the advice you're being given), you still have a long way to go. I've already left you with a suggestion about what to do with your user page, but given your at-times erratic behaviour and you highlighting how stressed/depressed you are, you could also consider taking a break. 4TheWynne (talk contribs) 06:02, 13 November 2023 (UTC)
It's not because of Wikipedia it's personal reasons that I will not highlight. I could take a break. So you don't know when I can change my username? Thank you 👍🤔. MrFlyingPies23(✍) 06:08, 13 November 2023 (UTC)
!(If you think it's too much for me to handle right now, don't give any advice!) but what was the suggestion to do with my user page ? MrFlyingPies23(✍) 06:11, 13 November 2023 (UTC)

Reverting world No. 1 change

We discussed earlier about Iga Swiatek on my talk page that if the player breaks a personal record like “consecutive year-end No. 1”, it is ok to put it in the header. Why the second revert? Is it because you disagree with what you said or you just don’t want me to make changes? Sashona (talk) 21:21, 27 November 2023 (UTC)

Sashona, I never said that at all – I said "if it breaks some sort of record (e.g. consecutive or total)", as in all-time records. As mentioned, please either discuss the change properly (you said yourself that you wanted to achieve a proper consensus on the matter) or leave it alone; you're missing the point of all of this – not every achievement needs to be listed in the header, as the headers aren't meant to be long. 4TheWynne (talk contribs) 23:23, 27 November 2023 (UTC)
Consecutive year-end world No. 1 are very rare, we can count the tennis players that have achieved that on our fingers. Why is it an issue to have it in the header considering that it is a short header currently with only two items? Why can’t we have three? Are there guidelines somewhere for what to put in the header, how long should it be, and how many and what items (personal achievements , all time records etc..) to include? GF score sort

Question: what basis did you use to rank one non-unique score above another for these sort templates? [3] Aspirex (talk) 01:40, 11 December 2023 (UTC)

Aspirex, they're in order of lowest score conceded to highest, and then if two or more grand finals produce the same basic scoreline (which has happened a couple of times), they're in chronological order; won't be difficult to update in the future. 4TheWynne (talk contribs) 02:29, 11 December 2023 (UTC)
Doing it that way gives you chronological when you sort low to high, and reverse chronological when you sort high to low. Wouldn't it be better to just sort by the number of raw points and let whatever method is built into the table template deal with the rest? Aspirex (talk) 03:08, 11 December 2023 (UTC)
Aspirex, I know how sortable columns work, and that that's how it would have looked if I just sorted by the raw scores, but adding the extra element of lowest score conceded to highest (only applying to matches with non-unique scores) essentially sorts the winners by highest score/margin and runners-up by closest matches, making it a little more organised/recognising of performance than if they were just in chronological order. 4TheWynne (talk contribs) 03:59, 11 December 2023 (UTC)
I don't understand. If they're ranked chronologically, how does the margin enter the discussion? Aspirex (talk) 04:02, 11 December 2023 (UTC)
Aspirex, the only times when scores are sorted chronologically are when more than two or more grand finals produce the same basic scoreline (as in both teams, not just one); for example, if three grand finals all produced the scoreline of 100 v 70, they're in chronological order, but if you've got two grand finals that are 135 v 70 and 135 v 85, or two that are 95 v 70 and 85 v 70, then they're essentially sorted by margin. 4TheWynne (talk contribs) 04:19, 11 December 2023 (UTC)
