Tagging pages for deletion

Hello, (Oinkers42),

Just a reminder that any time you tag a page (whether article, category, template or draft) for deletion (CSD, PROD, AFD/TFD/CFD), you need to post a notification on the talk page of the page creator to let them know of the deletion tagging. So, I encourage editors to use Twinkle for tagging because once you set up your Preferences to "Notify page creator", Twinkle will post these talk page notices for you. Please do these notifications in the future. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 21:00, 6 August 2021 (UTC)

  • Sorry about that, I will do better next time. (Oinkers42) (talk) 21:06, 6 August 2021 (UTC)

Impa for DYK?

Hi Oinkers42 I just wanted to get your opinion on whether you think the Impa article would be a good choice for nominating to DYK? I'm think the hook could be "Did you know that Impa is one of the oldest characters in The Legend of Zelda series?" Fieryninja (talk) 16:25, 15 September 2021 (UTC)

Actually, no need to reply. I have already nominated it! Fieryninja (talk) 17:59, 15 September 2021 (UTC)

Draft:Hide and Seek (Hawkeye)

Hello, you should have checked the talk page for Draft:Hide and Seek (Hawkeye) before submitting it for review. We need more production info before it's ready to move to the mainspace. Also there is no need for submitting in general as we have editors who can just move it when it's ready. -- Zoo (talk) 18:18, 16 April 2022 (UTC)

I mean, it looks perfectly fine to me. Also the draft has been there for almost six months now, practically ready for mainspace. (Oinkers42) (talk) 18:23, 16 April 2022 (UTC)
It doesn't matter how long it has been there for. It still has sections that need expanded. That goes for the other Hawkeye episodes that are still stuck as drafts. -- Zoo (talk) 18:32, 16 April 2022 (UTC)

Character articles

What do you think of my current draft for Amy Rose? I tried to address the issues that got it merged previously, and since you worked on character articles before, I would like to know your thoughts, as I'm working towards a de-merge. MoonJet (talk) 15:11, 19 May 2022 (UTC)

While there are definitely a good amount of articles that make it through WP:GNG, there is also a good amount of listicles and loosely connected pieces that may still cause issue. As for source recommendations, may I add [1], [2], and [3]. Just remember that WP:GNG is somewhat subjective. (Oinkers42) (talk) 15:25, 19 May 2022 (UTC)
I know there's listicles in there, but I've under the impression that there's no problem with them being cited in there, so long as sources of significant coverage are also there. Those three sources you list are already in the draft.
Yeah, GNG is subjective. That's why we do merge proposals and AFDs to get consensus.
You see, I was going to open another de-merge discussion, but instead, I'm taking a different approach and asking certain editors what they think of the current draft and what should need fixing. Is there anything in particular you think should be cut down? MoonJet (talk) 15:33, 19 May 2022 (UTC)
By the way, could you weigh in at the AFD for Coco Bandicoot? I seen you had commented there already. Thanks. MoonJet (talk) 16:58, 22 May 2022 (UTC)

Disney+ Original Series Template Page

I understand you are trying to stick to series that have existing pages... but I believe it is best if we include every original series that exists on the streaming service - regardless of page status. Just because, if we don't include them it causes a bit of confusion when people are looking for certain series under this section banner and cannot find them. Please allow us all to add ALL existing Disney+ original series in order to eliminate confusion. Personally, I think it is important and other editors like me agree.--Mattsyman (talk) 01:38, 20 May 2022 (UTC)

If you could build and prove consensus via a discussion, then we can do that. (Oinkers42) (talk) 03:10, 20 May 2022 (UTC)
My apologies, but how do you build a consensus via discussion? Mattsyman (talk) 15:52, 21 May 2022 (UTC)
You start a discussion (preferably on a WikiProject page, state you points, and see if people agree with you. If a good amount of them do, then we can change it. (Oinkers42) (talk) 02:04, 22 May 2022 (UTC)

Nick Animation Category

All of original Nicktoons were produced (or operated) by Nickelodeon Animation Studio, along includes Nick Jr. orgingals. I'm trying align in a more specific format. MegaSmike46 (talk) 05:56, 23 September 2022 (UTC)

Yes, but the Nick Jr. originals, alongside other programming, were both made by Nickelodeon Animation Studios and not considered Nicktoons. They should be considered separate categories. (Oinkers42) (talk) 14:00, 23 September 2022 (UTC)
Do you feel obligated to the Nicktoons brand? That's great but remember, "Nicktoons" is just a collective for Nickelodeon's original cartoons. I'd argue that it's more colloquial now. Similarly, Category:Cartoon Network Studios series became Category:Television series by Cartoon Network Studios. MegaSmike46 (talk) 00:02, 24 September 2022 (UTC)
I do not feel obligated to the Nicktoons brand, but Nicktoons does not refer to all shows made by Nickelodeon Animation Studios. If you want to argue that Category:Nicktoons should not exist, that is fine, but it should not be simply renamed. A new category should be created. (Oinkers42) (talk) 00:28, 24 September 2022 (UTC)

Nicktoons category

I actually retitled that article [previously Nicktoons (American TV channel)] and gave it a separate article [Category:Nicktoons (TV network)]. I wanted to help Nicktoons stand out more, considering it has several international versions. It's similar to Boomerang (TV network) -> Category:Boomerang (TV network) original programming. Even its sibling, Noggin functions this way. Noggin (brand) -> Category:Noggin (brand) original programming.

MegaSmike46 (talk) 03:50, 24 September 2022 (UTC)

Yeah, I have no opposition to that. (Oinkers42) (talk) 04:30, 24 September 2022 (UTC)

"Bold" editing and consensus

Your comments here and your corresponding edits were incorrect application of WP:BOLD and WP:CONSENSUS.

There was an established consensus. There is no time limit on a consensus. Yes, they can change. But you need evidence of a changed consensus before you start enforcing it. If someone challenges a consensus (Zxc), and someone's contests it (me), then the original consensus stands until a new consensus forms. As is, you didn't "boldly" make an edit, you actively edited against a standing consensus. Thats considered disruptive. Please don't do that in the future.

(Even without a standing consensus, it would still have been a WP:BRD violation. Zxc's edit was bold. I reverted. You should not have restored. In short, it's not a "bold" edit if someone's just contested that same edit.)

Anyways, while these things happen, you seemed to not really understand these concepts back in all those Mario Kart 8 merge discussions either, so it felt necessary to review with you. Sergecross73 msg me 01:01, 28 February 2023 (UTC)

Question

yellow. this is a question posed to a random active user, so sorry if it's not the best person to diskuss wif.

Would the article "Glossary of underwater diving terminology: H–O" be a possible candidate for deletion under WP:NOTDICT? Correct me if I'm wrong, but a wikipedium (sorry for using a neologism there lol) is not supposed to be (in the article's own words) a " glossary of technical terms, jargon, diver slang and acronyms used in underwater diving."

Warning - Unredirecting and editing against consensus

I'm making this official on wiki, in regards to topics that have been discussed on WP:Discord in recent months, since your behavior has not changed despite numerous editors trying to advise you. You have repeatedly unredirected video game characters articles that had been redirected due to a lack of notability or a merger discussion, despite their redirect being within line with guidelines. You argue pointless bureaucratic reasons for doing so, in some cases even say it was probably correct but you didn't feel the "proper channels" were followed. In some cases, you've admitted outright you didn't participate in the discussions, and yet after the discussion concluded, restored articles against the consensus. This is incredibly disruptive, and has repeatedly happened this year. It needs to stop. I strongly recommend you avoid involvement in unredirecting or unmerging topics. You do not understand the guidelines at work or respect consensus enough. -- ferret (talk) 17:09, 23 August 2023 (UTC)

I am sorry for my recent actions on Cubone, though I was a bit confused as I thought the discussion was not originally intended to form any sort of consensus and was just trying to find which articles need improvement overall. Also, I am having trouble understanding WP:BLAR and how to properly save an article that had been. I had been running under the assumption that it was basically a WP:PROD, but I no longer think this is the case. (Oinkers42) (talk) 17:53, 23 August 2023 (UTC)
This isn't a random BLAR. This was resulting from a discussion held on a talk page, which you stated you were aware of but decided not to participate in. I want to be very clear, because our interactions in the past have suggested clear and direct statements are required: You are free to participate in discussions about mergers. You should stop unredirecting/unmerging anything, period. If you truly believe a mistake was made, open a talk page discussion instead. -- ferret (talk) 17:57, 23 August 2023 (UTC)

Accidentally removed your vote

Sorry, did not mean to remove your vote at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mug shot of Donald Trump. Edit conflict and my editor didn't resolve it correctly. TarkusABtalk/contrib 02:44, 25 August 2023 (UTC)

It is okay. As long as the vote is on there. (Oinkers42) (talk) 02:45, 25 August 2023 (UTC)
