Current requests for increase in protection level

edit
Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Temporary extended confirmed protection: Persistent disruptive editing – User keeps changing the image for “hentai” to increasingly nonsensical things. Dronebogus (talk) 13:43, 23 June 2024 (UTC)

Consider the edit warring noticeboard – This is a case of possible edit-warring by one or two users. Nobody's warned them about this, but they haven't shown any willingness to discuss beyond edit summaries, possibly because no one has extended them that courtesy either. No, they haven't violated 3RR, but they don't need to to have edit warred. Daniel Case (talk) 20:40, 23 June 2024 (UTC)
I have left a CTOPS notice on the talk page. Daniel Case (talk) 20:44, 23 June 2024 (UTC)

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Persistent addition of unsourced material and/or material that contradicts sourced material already in article. livelikemusic (TALK!) 15:14, 23 June 2024 (UTC)

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Seems like that hasn't happened in five days. Daniel Case (talk) 20:46, 23 June 2024 (UTC)

Reason: Disruptive editing by the same person (different IPs in the same range). I'm WP:INVOLVED. Bbb23 (talk) 15:17, 23 June 2024 (UTC)

Sorry, but you are being stubborn. You don't admit that you removed text from this article because you are unfamiliar with sports topics and even removed valid text from the article Gustavo Oliveira just because I tampered with your precious removed text. Because, as he indicated in his report, he was involved in the dispute. Past ArbCom cases are full of admins—and, more importantly, former admins—who misused those rights to gain an advantage in a dispute. Daniel Case (talk) 21:38, 23 June 2024 (UTC)

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – The page, by its very nature, is a magnet for vandalism and other disruptive edits, as the history shows. Previous protections have been short-lived and the problem returns each time. Crossroads -talk- 22:24, 23 June 2024 (UTC)

Current requests for reduction in protection level

edit
Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

  • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
  • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
  • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
  • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.
Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Reason: The protection is not needed as the disruptive edits by unnecessarily reverting are done by an extended confirmed user. The disruptive edits(reverting) are [10] [11] [12]. These constant and complete revertings of contributions done by multiple users prevents the improvements done to the page. That particular user is alerted in the talk page of the article and hasn't yet provided evidence to his claims. Not blanket page protection but page protection from this particular user is the one needed. അദ്വൈതൻ (talk) 16:35, 22 June 2024 (UTC)

That's not an argument for unprotection, given the BLP issues FrancisSobieski123 (talk · contribs) introduced right before the ECP. If anything, that's an argument to escalate it to full-protection until a discussion has actually run its course. —Jéské Couriano v^_^v threads critiques 16:39, 22 June 2024 (UTC)
Reverting contributions of multiple users citing an unreliability of a citation added by one user is injustice. Already the article lacks Neutral point of View(under the section Pastoral ministry and sub section love and narcotics jihad controversy ) that too on a living person, the reverting has undid my multiple contributions too, all with reliable sources that was to address this issue. That particular user's blanket reverting has done no improvement to the page. And that user who reverted my contributions hasn't yet provided evidence to his claim in the article's talk page when asked അദ്വൈതൻ (talk) 17:13, 22 June 2024 (UTC)
You're still making a case for escalating the protection, not downgrading it. —Jéské Couriano v^_^v threads critiques 17:29, 22 June 2024 (UTC)
I presume you are saying about full protection because the user who is blatantly reverting is an extended confirmed+ user, correct? അദ്വൈതൻ (talk) 17:32, 22 June 2024 (UTC)
Correct, and because this is a content dispute. —Jéské Couriano v^_^v threads critiques 17:42, 22 June 2024 (UTC)
So what the solution apart from discussing in the article's talk page. As the particular user hasn't yet replied to substantiate its claims in the talk page. അദ്വൈതൻ (talk) 17:55, 22 June 2024 (UTC)

Current requests for edits to a protected page

edit
Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

  • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
  • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
  • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
  • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
  • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

Autopatrolled

edit

@Ryan shell has suggested me to request autopatrolled rights. I'm often creating simple articles about beetles in English (from the groups I'm personally already familiar with or learning about) and later expanding them if the existing resources allow me to do so. This is to allow other people to find this information and pictures more easily (otherwise it's often scattered on the internet and hard to find). I'm requesting autopatroller rights because I create large batches of articles at once, as Ryan mentioned. I only use reliable sources to provide information for Wikipedia Ipscaij (talk) 09:07, 14 June 2024 (UTC)

Hello there, I have created 30 articles as of now and i am requesting for Autopatrolled right. Xegma(talk) 07:34, 17 June 2024 (UTC)

Hello, I have created 100+ articles, primarily focused on television series. And I plan to keep doing the same. Thanks for your consideration C1K98V (💬 ✒️ 📂) 08:51, 17 June 2024 (UTC)

I have written a total of 48 articles, including 6 in the past 2 days, mainly about hip hop artists. My articles usually have little to no issue. I'm requesting for the autopatrolled right to lighten the amount of unreviewed articles. Roasted; (talk), c. 00:07, 19 June 2023 (CDT)

A patroller suggested I apply for this following the creation of Asphendou Cave petroglyphs, probably a decent idea as I have a few articles in the pipeline for the Wikipedia:2024 Developing Countries WikiContest and don't want to add to NPP burden. CMD (talk) 02:06, 23 June 2024 (UTC)

Page mover

edit

Hello, I'd like to request page mover rights as I often come across articles that do not follow the Wikipedia:Article titles policy and though usually move those articles myself, they sometimes can't be moved due to technical reasons. I have participated in numerous WP:RMs and opened many significant ones, as well as performed many moves myself over the past. Thank you. PadFoot2008 04:07, 16 June 2024 (UTC)

So I plan on using it to address page move vandalism and for other non-controversial tasks such as WP:RM.— Saqib (talk I contribs) 10:38, 18 June 2024 (UTC)

I am enough experienced for this role (as per the terms and conditions) and I will actively contribute to the community. Arigato! Wowlastic10 (talk) 13:57, 20 June 2024 (UTC)

Mass message sender

edit

Hey there, I'm acting as a coordinator of the 2024 Developing Countries WikiContest until the end of September. The role will entail sending out a handful of updates to at least 40 users over that period. I haven't previously requested a mass message, but I've read through the information page and will follow it in good faith to the best of my ability. Let me know if you have any questions! Pending changes reviewer

edit

I am requesting Pending Changes Reviewer rights to assist in maintaining the quality of Wikipedia articles. I have been an active editor for almost 3 years, with over 16,000 edits. My contributions reflect a solid understanding of Wikipedia's content policies, including verifiability, neutrality, and no original research. I regularly engage in discussions to improve articles. I am committed to ensuring that pending changes are reviewed promptly and accurately. M S Hassan (talk) 17:25, 11 June 2024 (UTC)

I hate vandals and I don't take it anywhere on the English Wikipedia. I have reverted multiple vandalism otherwise known as dusruptive editings since I joined Wikipedia. I wish to keep Wikipedia safe and sound for readers by reverting unconstructive edits made by IP editors or registered editors. I have been doing this until today that I found out that I can formally request to join a team of committed group known as "Pending Changes reviewers". I apply for the right because I can do more being a certified editor doing what I know how to do best.Wår (talk) 05:59, 20 June 2024 (UTC)

@War Term: vandalism has a very specific meaning on Wikipedia. I don't think you currently understand all the nuances involved here yet based on [13][14][15]. You should also leave a message on the talk page of the editor you reverted. I encourage you to read this page and be a bit more careful when reverting new editors. So I'm marking this as   Not done for now. Clovermoss🍀 (talk) 14:07, 21 June 2024 (UTC)

I'm a productive user that has warned people in the past for distruptive editing, COI, vandalism and more. I usually try to complete things I start and it is very painful for me to look at Special:PendingChanges having tons of articles. I would definitely try to reduce the backlog. 48JCL 23:45, 22 June 2024 (UTC)

I have been helping in improving Wikipedia for three years now, and I am familiar with the wikipedia policy on vandalism as well as the main points of NPOV, Verifiability, WP:NOR, and WP:NOT. I'm hoping I can contribute more to Wikipedia by having PCR right. Thank you. — ‎‎‎hhypeboyh 💬✏️ 00:34, 24 June 2024 (UTC)

Rollback

Can someone grant me rollback when they have the chance? Realized I forgot to ask for it after turning in the tools, and while I'm not around that much, when I am I prefer it to Twinkle. TonyBallioni (talk) 21:12, 22 June 2024 (UTC)

Hello. Requesting rollback rights to more swiftly correct vandalism and other clearly improper edits. I have dealt with a variety of these over time, with demonstrated knowledge of how to warn and/or welcome with specific guidance tailored to the problematic edit in each case. Thank you.   Not done I noticed you make a handful of edits, and then drop off for months at a time. While I appreciate your enthusiasm, I'd like to see you spend at least a month consistently patrolling RecentChanges (Twinkle & Ultraviolet can help with that) before reapplying. Also, please ensure that you are always warning editors when you revert their edits. Thanks, Fastily 11:21, 23 June 2024 (UTC)

As someone who constantly reverts disruptive editors and reports vandals to WP:AIV almost daily, I would greatly appreciate access to rollback permissions to facilitate my work. Skitash (talk) 20:13, 23 June 2024 (UTC)

I see that you are failing to consistently warn editors when you revert their edits (e.g. 1, 2, 3). Why? It's important to leave a notification for every revert you make. Are you aware that we have tools such as Twinkle or Ultraviolet that make this extremely easy? -Fastily 21:58, 23 June 2024 (UTC)
I apologize for not consistently warning editors when reverting their edits. This was primarily the case with IP hoppers, as warnings seemed redundant given that IPs keep changing. For instance, instead of warning this IP I believed to be a WP:LOUTSOCK of Derklnin (whom I had already warned), I opted to request protection for the page at WP:RPPI to secure the article against long-term IP vandalism instead. Moving forward, I will make sure to issue a warning for every IP and registered user I revert. Skitash (talk) 22:51, 23 June 2024 (UTC)

I had rollback on trial that expired about a year ago. My request to renew it was denied due to inactivity. I want to to request it again to gain access to WP:UV and WP:HUGGLE. Thanks. C F A 💬 21:36, 23 June 2024 (UTC)

Not done When I declined your previous request, I asked you to spend a month actively patrolling RecentChanges. Upon reviewing your contributions, I found almost no reverts in the interim period. I see you made a handful of reverts today, however I'm specifically looking for experience acquired over time, not during a single day. Also, please ensure that you are consistently warning editors when you revert their edits. -Fastily 21:58, 23 June 2024 (UTC)
@Fastily: I have been patrolling RecentChanges for about a month, not only today. See my undo log. I assumed this would be enough. C F A 💬 22:17, 23 June 2024 (UTC)
Please re-read my previous decline, I asked you to patrol consistently and actively. You're reverting vandalism sporadically for a day and then dropping off for weeks at a time. -Fastily 22:48, 23 June 2024 (UTC)
