GameFAQs edit

Is TF really the only mod on GameFAQs to have an FAQ? I'm just intrigued because I'm actually the person who wrote that FAQ. Kind of a cool fact. :) (shoulda signed this comment sooner)Tickenest 00:33, 7 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Kudos to you man. I'm one of the dwindling masses of fans that have a special place in their gaming heart for ol' QWTF. Nothing like spying it up on old Canalzone :]

Biscuit server edit

I'm still trying to figure out what happened to Biscuit Server. Anyone know why it closed down?.. I really really miss playing on that system..

Unreal Fortress: Evolution edit

As far as I know, UnF:E no longer exists. The site disappeared a couple of months ago (giving red links in this article) and no news is given anywhere. What happened? Lyverbe 17:02, 5 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Do a search for UNFE at forums.beyondunreal.com . Apparently the project got cancelled, a few months later they were looking for a web designer, and now it seems dead again. --Pizzahut2 09:45, 8 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

First FPS Headshot edit

Added note that TF had the first headshots in FPS gaming. Cited with a link to http://www.moddb.com/mods/team-fortress. You can confirm by inspecting the version history file in any of the download package later than version 2.5. It indicates the addition of headshots for the sniper rifle, as well as the date of the addition. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.105.18.11 (talk) 23:13, 5 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Stronger Than All edit

I'm too scared to edit the article myself. But perhaps there could be a mention of, or link to http://www.sta-league.org/ which is a site that has been around for several years which all clans that play Team Fortress use to organize their matches. It's been a while since I've played Q3F, but I remember that site being an integral part of all the clans' organized competitions. Xan3535 05:19, 24 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

"Recently" statement for OZTF edit

"Recently the developers of Team Fortress gave permission to another Australian to continue their work and improve the original Team Fortress. The result of this is OzTF which contains many updates and bugfixes." What does recently mean in the context of wikipedia?

Is it possible to cite a source and tie this statement to a particular year?

Oh year, I loved TF back in the day. Kategorian 03:32, 7 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

August / September 2001. Mercury and I obtained permission and TF 2.9 source code direct from Bro (R. Walker). This was not openly publicised though, as QWTF was already in decline and news about it would not matter much, and we intended for it to be Australian-focused anyway (Oz). Big kudos to Mercury for carrying on development where I couldn't. Possible sources to cite are http://web.archive.org/web/20020925212942/http://whoah.net/#_Toc17457804 and http://nisda.net/oztf.php but neither directly mention TFS. 210.185.93.177 03:52, 14 August 2007 (UTC) (rawhide)Reply

GibThis forum edit

"Many of the remaining TF players frequent the forums at GibThis." I'm sorry: *who?* I know TF has declined in the last 11 or so years, but a forum with 5 registered users? Nice try. --69.182.133.145 04:31, 17 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Unofficial mods edit

I removed Fortress Forever from the TF timeline. It's not an official(TFSoft-produced) TF mod, so I don't think it belongs there. It's still down in "Evolution" where it belongs. Semi 09:48, 30 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

This Article is Incomplete, I tell you edit

I stumbled upon this article, and I would like to suggest that you imply what makes this mod so special. I don't know, and I would really appreciate if someone who does write a section that describes the gameplay. Thanks. --JDitto (talk) 19:51, 18 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

What JDITTO said edit

honestly, a little description of why it was succesful (gameplay?) would be great. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.255.201.211 (talk) 15:34, 6 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

No mention of meme edit

The article makes absolutely no mention of the meme status of this game and it's characters, the great many jokes made from the game, nor the way they are role played in various message boards and chat rooms throughout the internet. 202.220.170.6 (talk) 04:31, 22 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

The memes are more from TF2, rather than the original TF, though. 87.228.244.166 (talk) 18:47, 24 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Images edit

Can we please get some images of the game. Maybe a logo or screenshots? --Victory93 (talk) 01:34, 7 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

IMDb entry edit

Could someone who has the game and therefore access to the credits and other information create a title entry over at IMDb (analogous to this here, the page for its successor Team Fortress 2) and then add a corresponding link on its Wikipedia page? Would be great. Thanks – ὁ οἶστρος (talk) 00:53, 15 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Valve Task Force Re-vitalization edit

Attention, all contributors to the Valve Task Force and the articles it constitutes!
I am here to announce that I will be re-vitalizing the Valve Task Force, aimed at universally improving articles constituting Valve Corporation, their employees, associates and products. This specific task force has been dormant for quite some time and with two very notable releases coming out this year, I feel like this is the appropriate time to re-stimulate the general aim of this group. For those who are not already members of the Valve Task Force, feel free to add your name to our members list and contribute to whatever articles you feel your contributions may prove beneficial for. Valve, its products and notable employees have proven to be essential to the progression of the video game industry, so I'd like to make a call of arms for this cause. Terrible article edit

I'll be the first to admit I don't want to do the work of cleaning up this article, but currently it really is just god awful. It seems like every couple months some old TF or Mega TF player, or someone who played a copy-cat mod like Q3F, ETF, or was hopeful of one that never got released, comes along and tries to edit this article to reflect their own personal biases and opinions or promote their own dead mod, without putting any thought into making people who did NOT play TF understand just what the hell it was/is to begin with.

Please, if you know what TF is, and have the time and inclination to write a proper FULL article, and not just tag onto the list of miscellaneous TF copy-cat mods trying to promote your personal favorite, please put in the time to do so in a way that, firstly, makes people understand what TF is on a very basic level (i.e. what a mod is, what Quake was, how QuakeWorld and internet play were significant), who created it and maybe a short history (i.e. how the pyro, spy, and engineer were added later, general stuff not super specific stuff), maybe something about how it had a map scripting system that was ahead of its time that allowed the different gameplay types for maps to be created without having to change the code (this was actually SUPER important to TF/gaming history, IMO). GENERALLY, how the game fostered a vibrant competitive/clan scene long before the word "esports" was invented. That's what this article should be about. The game in general and why the game is important to gaming history, even if it's actually not very well known. If someone could do that for this article, that would be awesome. Like I said, I'm not a writer and I suck at wikipedia formatting. This game really does deserve a good article. 184.88.235.102 (talk) 06:49, 24 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
