Mario + rabbids at 10 millions

now ubisoft said this game is at 10 million sales arent mentioned but the thing is the game is never free so wouldnt that mean 10 million = 10 million sales https://nintendoeverything.com/mario-rabbids-kingdom-battle-played-by-over-10-million-people-interview-with-its-creators/ 158.135.173.179 (talk) 18:30, 29 August 2022 (UTC)

How many times do we have to remind everyone. That the number of people that played the game does not equal number of copies sold. 1 person can by copy, then invite friends to play their copy of the game. Especially, if they don't have a switch. MR.RockGamer17 (talk) 18:48, 29 August 2022 (UTC)
well how can you track that? 158.135.173.179 (talk) 19:04, 29 August 2022 (UTC)
By them specifically saying "sales", really. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 19:20, 29 August 2022 (UTC)
well of course for that but it isnt like some games that are free in some regions this game gets down to 10-15 dollars so i think it can be implied that it is sales as most companies dont say sales anymore they just tell you player counts. 158.135.173.179 (talk) 22:57, 29 August 2022 (UTC)
That is an incorrect assumption. Companies, especially Nintendo, routinely announce sales figures still. I'm not entirely sure why Ubisoft keeps mentioning player counts instead of sales, but until they explicitly say sales, the figures are ineligible for this list. Sergecross73 msg me 01:21, 30 August 2022 (UTC)
For example, there was a free trial for six days last July where you could play through the whole game [1]. Quand nous chanterons (talk) 10:19, 30 August 2022 (UTC)
Also, specifically in the case of Ubisoft, they’re one of those companies with NOTORIOUS EULAs and privacy policies at the start of their games (other notable examples being EA, Sega, and 2K). They’re DEFINITELY collecting a lot of player-count analytics above and beyond the number of copies sold, so that’s where the data is coming from.
This 10mn players number will be including a lot of things we don’t consider primary sales: second-hand sales (e.g., eBay, GameStop trade-ins, etc.), loaning a game to friends, playing a second playthrough on a new account, NSO Game Trials, etc.
10mn is a lot of players, don’t get us wrong, but it’s NOT a sales figure.
This is NOT a sourced number, but I do suspect that 10mn players means we’re significantly over 3mn sales at this point, quite possibly even over 4mn. I don’t know why Ubisoft REFUSE to issue updated guidance on this number, except that people keep misunderstanding players as meaning sales and that helps their image. marsdeatTalk 14:10, 30 August 2022 (UTC)
If it's fooling Wikipedia editors then it might fool potential new investors too. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 15:44, 30 August 2022 (UTC)

The person that reported the CESA 2022 numbers on Install Base has added that Taiko Drum N Fun is now up to 1.89 million WW. https://www.installbaseforum.com/forums/threads/media-create-sales-week-33-2022-aug-15-aug-21.1014/page-17#post-97917 100.35.146.217 (talk) 12:59, 31 August 2022 (UTC)

Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. We don't use forum posts as sources. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 13:03, 31 August 2022 (UTC)

Media Create White Paper 2022

Is the Media Create White Book an accepted source? If so, I'd like to provide the most up to date physical Japanese sales numbers for Octopath Traveler and Pòkken Tournament DX as of January 2nd 2022. The list here has them at 180k and 350k. The Media Create White Paper 2022 has them at 261k and 379k, so rounded 260k and 380k.

Here for reference the book itself: https://www.m-create.com/publishing/game.html

And here as proof the page with the actual numbers (sorry for the blurriness): https://postimg.cc/PNKSVgNJ

The games are at #217 and #218. BB1802 (talk) 07:08, 4 September 2022 (UTC)

The source seems reliable. However we cannot round up sales numbers. No matter how close it is. MR.RockGamer17 (talk) 15:04, 6 September 2022 (UTC)
We also need the ISBN, but I have been unable to find it online so far. MR.RockGamer17 (talk) 15:08, 6 September 2022 (UTC)

The Pókken Tournament number that is currently in the list is rounded up from 344k to 350k for some reason. I don't know where to find the ISBN unfortunately. BB1802 (talk) 12:34, 7 September 2022 (UTC)

Essentially its the bar code for the book. MR.RockGamer17 (talk) 13:19, 7 September 2022 (UTC)

Here's the ISBN: 979-4-909977-19-9 BB1802 (talk) 13:39, 9 September 2022 (UTC)

It's 978 not 979. I still made the changes. MR.RockGamer17 (talk) 14:59, 9 September 2022 (UTC)

Sorry, typo. BB1802 (talk) 19:28, 9 September 2022 (UTC)

New update on Minecraft

Why no bundles listed?

Why is it not listing bundles like the Mario Kart 8 bundle seen from Best Buy (note it DOES include a digital copy)? https://www.bestbuy.com/site/nintendo-switch-neon-joy-con-mario-kart-8-deluxe-gamedownload-3-month-nintendo-switch-online-individual-membership/6522412.p?skuId=6522412&ref=212&loc=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiA7bucBhCeARIsAIOwr--l0c8Y44xNp8UCu943A-MCnOGcLJSZ2ISPd9cDzi2Ytm50wG0_CCIaAnfLEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds 2600:1702:3AE0:4760:D452:67C2:E9B:2D9E (talk) 14:15, 6 December 2022 (UTC)

I'm pretty sure game sales from bundles are included. The bundles themselves aren't listed because this is a games/software list, not a hardware/model list. Sergecross73 msg me 14:44, 6 December 2022 (UTC)

New Minecraft sales

https://www.gematsu.com/2023/01/famitsu-sales-1-9-23-1-15-23

This is a link to the most recent famitsu sales but the important thing is Minecraft passed 3 million physical copies. 158.135.169.216 (talk) 15:47, 19 January 2023 (UTC)

Mario Party Superstars not listed.

https://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/pdf/2023/230509_3e.pdf

The most recent nintendo financial report has put Mario Party Superstars at over 10 million copies sold but I noticed it was not on the list. I can't see any reason that would not be the case. 137.139.196.16 (talk) 15:50, 17 May 2023 (UTC)

Fix Pokkén Tournament DX sales

https://imgbb.com/f2L1Q02

It seems every single sales number listed in the chart that you find on this site I've given the link, is the same as here in wikipedia, except for Pokken Tournament DX! The game is listed as having sold 2.04 million copies, not 1.54 million like it is here. So I conclude that the numbers here are wrong and I want to any of you to fix it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.95.208.59 (talk) 18:48, 17 May 2023 (UTC)

Minecraft

600 million copies sold. That’s definitely number one. Also to 10 most selling game of all time. Wikipedia is FAKE! 2600:8803:7A07:8A00:BC43:307D:DC9E:84AB (talk) 20:56, 9 July 2023 (UTC)

This article documents how many units were sold on the Switch. Are you proposing it sold six times it's install base? Sergecross73 msg me 02:33, 10 July 2023 (UTC)

should we acknowledge that this console has most 10 million sellers?

i am pretty sure of this but the switch has the most confirmed 10 million sellers compared to other consoles and i think even the PC. 158.135.174.142 (talk) 02:56, 11 July 2023 (UTC)

No, unless reliable sources are specifically taking note of it, it's not really worth pointing out. Sergecross73 msg me 03:20, 11 July 2023 (UTC)

New sales data release for June 30, 2023

Just FYI, I'd be out of my depth to try to make the update, but Nintendo released the latest batch of sales data. I'm sure one of you fine folks is up to making the updates. Tears of the Kingdom seems like it's already cracked the top 10. https://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/en/finance/software/index.html Darkage7[Talk] 07:46, 3 August 2023 (UTC)

"Minecraft" update and "Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020" inclusion

Change "Minecraft" numbers from 3.14 million to 3.31 million (Japanese physical numbers have increased from 2.64 to 2.81 million units).

Include "Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020" with 1.03 million copies sold

Sales sources: 900.000 units worldwide as of 31 March 2020 (April 16, 2021 file(page 4)) plus 126.427 physical sales in Japan from 5 April 2020 (295.764) to 3 March 2022 (422.191) Lukitoo (talk) 00:11, 9 October 2022 (UTC)

I'm always keen to add new games to the list but I find these sources too confusing to navigate. Bruce Campbell (talk) 18:13, 15 October 2022 (UTC)
In progress: An editor is implementing the requested edit. Aaron Liu (talk) 11:55, 28 October 2022 (UTC)
Partly done: I don't see why the 900,000 figure must be outside japan. I have updated the minecraft figure. Aaron Liu (talk) 12:11, 28 October 2022 (UTC)
They very clearly said 900k for Mario & Sonic as of March 31st 2020 worldwide and then an additional 126k at Japan retail after that point. They didn't say 900k was outside of Japan and didn't imply it either and it doesn't need to be because the 126k figure does not overlap at all with the 900k figure. This game should be added to the list. BB1802 (talk) 11:00, 25 August 2023 (UTC)

Static-Row-Numbers

I just added static row numbers as part of the wikitable class, and removed the rank column. I figured it would be 1 less column to worry about and would be easier to update the sales data. In addition, it is not as wide as the rank column. MR.RockGamer17 (talk) 16:27, 5 September 2023 (UTC)
