General: Article is new enough and long enough
Policy: Article is sourced, neutral, and free of copyright problems

Hook eligibility:

  • Cited:
  • Interesting:
  • Other problems:   - "even though" fails under MOS:EDITORIAL without sources supporting that there is a relationship between his being founder/head coach and his GM tenure. I don't immediately see a connection why his GM tenure would have been expected to be earlier. Also, the article currently says: In those early years as head coach, Lambeau managed the football operations of the Packers, which included acquiring players, negotiating contracts and serving as a spokesperson. This makes me wonder if he is considered the first de facto GM. Pro-football-reference.com list him as GM starting in 1936.[1] At an article from PackersNews.com, they attribute the GM tenures with "According to the Packers..."[2] Since the source in the WP list for the year is also Packers.com (not independent), I'm thinking there needs to be WP:INTEXT attribution for the year, given the circumstances. Or reword the hook w/o an exact year.
QPQ: Done.

ALT1: ... that Vince Lombardi resigned as head coach of the Green Bay Packers after the 1967 NFL season but stayed on as the team's general manager for one more season?
Thoughts Bagumba? « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 16:08, 18 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Gonzo fan2007: I don't find that one immediately catchy. The implication is that he was both coach and GM, which is a bit more interesting on it's own if it's explicitly stated that he held dual roles. Other options (not currently in the article, but in the source) might be 1) he quit coaching to focus on being GM 2) the packers needed to release him from being GM so he could return to coaching.—Bagumba (talk) 14:32, 19 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
ALT2: ... that Vince Lombardi resigned as head coach of the Green Bay Packers after the 1967 NFL season to focus on his role as the team's general manager?
Bagumba, something like that? « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 14:47, 19 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Gonzo fan2007:: Yes, that would work. Instead of just mentioning 1967, consider adding that it was either after winning first 2 Super Bowls or being first to win 3 straight NFL titles. Unless it's overloading the hook? Your call.—Bagumba (talk) 15:12, 19 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Bagumba, I am ok with ALT2 as it is listed now, thanks for the review. « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 16:42, 19 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
