Plot discussion edit

There are some areas of contention I have with the current plot summary as written. Wikipedia is not Fandom but it strives for accuracy. The granular details of, or speculation regarding, the plot would be inappropriate for the main article but I've listed some to correct what I feel are misconceptions reflected in the current revision and welcome any replies. In areas where I feel there is ambiguity I think it would be best to have the plot summary reflect that ambiguity rather than stating one way or the other.

I think the typhoon did not happen in reality. In the opening chapter, Ray is found by Wei in the auditorium chair, the location where her soul restarts her cycle of purgatory, implying that the typhoon is only in her purgatory experience. Furthermore, the two then happen upon a river of blood, a supernatural element reprised in the "bad" ending. In the chapter 2 classroom scene where Wei gives the book list to Ray, the sky outside is clear, indicating that that did not happen the night of the typhoon.

The current text saying "Ray's grades slipped because of the domestic abuse at home" implies that Ray was herself abused, which I do not recall being implied in the game. The previous language "her parents' deteriorating marriage" or similar would be better suited.

The signs saying "snitcher" only appear in the boy's restroom and in the audiovisual room with Wei's gravestone. In the cutscene where Wei burns the books, he is questioned about his knowledge of how the book club was exposed, implying that Ray's betrayal was not common knowledge. Instead, Wei was the target of the bullying. It may be the case that Ray was awarded for her actions, as shown in the "bad" ending, but even if that scene occurred in reality and not just in purgatory (Ray's hanging herself onstage would imply otherwise), Ray was already a standout student who was used to being awarded, making it unlikely that anyone else but Wei knew her guilt. Thus, Ray killed herself definitely out of guilt, but probably not out of bullying.

It is unclear where Ray overheard Chang and Miss Yin arguing, but it does not make sense that 1) they would be discussing a grave secret in an auditorium and 2) Ray would "pass out from anger" in said auditorium and wake up in a chair, when previously she was eavesdropping at the door jamb. Rather, this is seemingly another part of Ray reliving her past memories in purgatory. The "bad" ending makes clear that the chair in which Ray wakes up is where her cycle restarts.
