Talk:Coleen Rooney

Latest comment: 1 year ago by TheScotch in topic Articles for deletion

Life edit

Colleen has done some modeling, lots of shopping and general chav stuff.

Copyvio edit

A large portion of the Early Life segment is directly copied from a Daily Mail article on Coleen and Rooney.

Name spelt wrong edit

The correct spelling is Coleen, with one "l". This has been confirmed with Wayne Rooney's agent; and also see stories in the national press e.g. The Times [1]

I am making the changes in the copy, but can someone who knows how to do it please move the article? (unsigned but 14:41, 12 October 2005, 143.252.80.110)

Moved - using the 'move' tab at the top :) Stephenb (Talk) 15:04, 12 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Background edit

Should it be added that colleen is from a poor council estate and that she is regarded as a rich chav. Magnoliapaint 20:34, 8 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Get her out! edit

What's the point in having this entry in Wikipedia? She hasn't done anything that would deserve an inclusion in an encyclopedia. "Getting media attention" doesn't qualify for me. The very little real information in here could be included in Rooney's entry. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 85.178.29.66 (talk) 09:34, 20 March 2007 (UTC).Reply

I agree she is a waste of time, who know body gives a two damn about her. Get her out of here!!!!!!!!! Y2J RKO 15:55, 17 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Agreed. She's a Non Notable, undeserving, nauseating gravy-training bimbette. Dainamo (talk) 23:51, 15 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Couldnt agree more, this article should be deleted. I almost felt shame for being an active user of Wikipedia when noticing this girl actually has a page. "She regularly appears in the English tabloids amidst accusations of doing nothing but shopping all day and frequently holidaying in sunny locations"?? Well, that about saying that she has done nothing to deserve attention...Its a complete waste, including stupid things such as where they had their first date and a whole section about her being a "shopaholic"....--Maldanito (talk) 17:03, 21 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
I typed her name in cos I wanted to find out a bit more about her out of curiousity, but to be honest....I don't see the point in her having an article. I'm not hating on Coleen, but consdering she is only notable for being a footballer's wife couldn't she just be merged with Wayne somewhere? I know she's also done charity work etc, but it personally seems to be a kinda useless article...londonsista | Prod 21:07, 31 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Ten years on, there seems to be no valid reason for keeping this page on Wikipedia. Mammadeep (talk) 13:19, 31 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Life with Wayne query? edit

At the very bottom it says something about how she offers her first child as a prize for a Hello! Competition. Can someone explain this please? Why would anyone offer a child as a prize? Is it a genuine mistake or someone trying to be funny? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.5.198.65 (talk) 19:00, 19 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

McLoughlin McLoughlin?! edit

"Coleen Mary McLoughlin was born to Tony, who was a bricklayer and ran a boxing club, and McLoughlin, who was a nursery nurse."

Post-marriage name edit

I've seen a few moves so I just wanted to start up a discussion about this. Right now, sources I'm seeing still have her as McLoughlin. If she starts getting referred to as Coleen Rooney primarily, then we'd want to switch, but I think it's not appropriate as of yet. [2] [3] [4] Thoughts? Vickser (talk) 23:55, 30 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Before the wedding, there were some (admittedly gossip) stories (eg [5]) saying that she was planning to keep her maiden name so probably best not to move the page until there is some official confirmation about the name change rather than just what the media is labelling her - I believe there is a new series of 'Real Women' due in the next few months so her credit on that will confirm the status, if we don't hear anything before then. Louparry (talk) 17:06, 20 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
There's an article here which supposedly confirms her name to be Coleen Rooney and says that "Coleen's Real Style...will be her last ever project under her maiden name Coleen McLoughlin." Cipher (Talk) 22:15, 31 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Its her name tho, innit? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lilyfan87 (talkcontribs) 22:34, 12 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Baby rumours edit

Please can we not add rumours that Rooney is pregnant until there is confirmation from the couple? There have been so many reports she is pregnant across the last few years that it's not worth adding anything until we know for sure. I've had to remove one sentence already. It was good faith and well written for the large part, but it can't really stay until there is a statement or other proof/confirmation. Sky83 (talk) 14:31, 29 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Articles for deletion edit

Im not sure of the chances of this article being deleted but I have to strongly agree with it not having the status of a wikipedia article. I've seen entrys based around websites that have more interest to people then this article and have been deleted. It's poorly-written probably simply copied from other sources. All this girl appears to of ever been is a trophy wife. Im sure there are other trophy wifes on wikipedia, perhaps ones with more properly sourced information.Woods01 (talk) 02:46, 15 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

It would be worth deleting this article if only to get rid of talk posts like the one above. Harfarhs (talk) 21:24, 19 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Rather than complain here, it would have made more sense simply to nominate it for deletion. It’s probably too late now, because the “Wagatha Christie” tempest in a teacup scandal has been extensively covered by gossipy British media. I’ve made a few attempts to improve the prose just a bit ago, but more work is needed. TheScotch (talk) 01:17, 31 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

Semi-protected edit request on 10 October 2019 edit

Please refer to her as Wagatha Christie in recognition of her achievements to journalism today. I suggest "Coleen Rooney aka Wagatha Christie" 46.193.227.33 (talk) 14:28, 10 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

Not done. Wikipedia isn't The Sun. OhNoitsJamie Talk 14:29, 10 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

Obviously it is inappropriate to use the article to make jokes, but this story not being mentioned at all is a bit odd. It's had a lot of coverage, for instance https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/newsbeat-49985658 Wikiditm (talk) 17:43, 10 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

Mentioning the "row" would probably be fine. The nickname thing is silly and belongs in the tabloids and Twitter. OhNoitsJamie Talk 17:56, 10 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
A row between two WAGs shouldn't merit the coverage of our project. -Roxy, the dog. wooF 18:31, 10 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
I'm OK with that too. On one hand there are plenty of sources, on the other hand, WP:NOTNEWS, etc. OhNoitsJamie Talk 19:54, 10 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
It was in there, and I removed it based on the fact that Wikipedia is not a magazine for celebrity gossip. If we're going to include this 'story', we'll have to include 'Taylor Swift accuses Katy Perry of stealing her backing dancers' and whatever other petty feud the tabloids are talking about next week. This isn't the kind of thing that belongs in an enduring biography. Robofish (talk) 21:49, 10 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
The nature of the subject means that, generally speaking, information will be coming from tabloids and magazines. The sources being used currently include a number of these. In contrast, this story was covered by a number of more well-respected news outlets, including the BBC, ITV and Sky. I'm fine for it not to be included, but it's wrong to say this was only covered by tabloids Wikiditm (talk) 07:10, 11 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
