I heard that Thomas Keenan was once an Arctic Monkey... is it true? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 220.245.155.229 (talk) 12:02, 13 May 2010 (UTC)

Lost material

The recent edits appear to have removed a number of sections from the article namely -

3 Television appearances
4 Musical style

4.1 Musical influences
4.2 Lyrics
4.3 Live appearances

5 In politics

may be others familiar with the topic can check out and see if this material should be restored. Keith D (talk) 15:16, 16 January 2010 (UTC)

Justification

My justification for my recent edits is that the article looked more like a fan-page, rather than a professional article. What I did was trying to be bold and turn the page for the better. Sorry I did it without consulting, but I think I did fine job.

I've checked what you did and I think its fine. Prylon (talk) 09:13, 15 February 2010 (UTC)

Miles Kane

hey, I took out miles kane as a touring member; he appeared infrequently on the fwn tour, and was billed as a special "surprise" guest as he only played on 505 and plastic tramp. don't think that quite qualifies as a "touring member" of the band. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.229.26.143 (talk) 00:06, 20 September 2010 (UTC)

Is the 'criticism' from Depeche Mode still relevant?

They're about to release their fourth album, that comment from a mere one indiviual was targeted at their first album. Surely it's time to get rid of it? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.243.147.65 (talk) 09:51, 23 May 2011 (UTC)

Psychedelic rock

This description seems to have been in the infobox for a relatively long time, but there is nothing I can see in the article to support it. Does anyone know of a reliable source that actually states they have recorded psychedelic rock? If not we should probably remove it an stick with the sourced descriptions.--SabreBD (talk) 14:07, 10 July 2011 (UTC)

Well, they haven't, so it seems unlikely that there will be a source that states that they have. This mentions 'psychedelia' but it isn't enough, unless we're also going to add ska and funk to the list, which I sincerely hope we are not.--Michig (talk) 14:56, 10 July 2011 (UTC)

Some confusion

This page states that only 500 CDs and 1000 vinyls of Five Minutes with Arctic Monkeys were released, but the Five Minutes article itself says that there are actially 1500 and 2000 respectively. Can anyone get the numbers right? 189.170.79.62 (talk) 05:04, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

Sound

Why isn't there any description of their sound at all? Or how it has changed over time? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.34.130.22 (talk) 00:53, 25 September 2011 (UTC)

I don't think Glynn Jones should be classed as a past member considering he never played a live show and when he was asked to take music on as a career he left. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.144.42.26 (talk) 23:02, 22 November 2011 (UTC)

Missing citations

This article has acquired quite a lot of unsourced statements since its GA review in 2009. If it went to a GA review this would probably mean it would lose that status. If anyone can fill in the missing support it would be much appreciated, otherwise some of these may have to be deleted.--SabreBD (talk) 07:03, 21 June 2012 (UTC)

I have fixed up 3 of the dead link cites. Keith D (talk) 12:00, 21 June 2012 (UTC)

AM section

The section about AM could use some work to be worthy of a GA-class article ;) I tried to clean it up a little, but it definitely needs more improvements regarding style and content. Especially in the paragraphs regarding album contributors, the use of Clarke's poem, change in musical style, etc. I'd appreciate some help with it. — Mayast (talk) 01:04, 11 November 2013 (UTC)

Trivia?

Is it appropriate to add trivia to the article? The specific point I have in mind is the fact that the band's bass drum shows the digits 0114, which is the telephone area code for Sheffield (i.e. it is a reference to where the band are from). JanCeuleers (talk) 16:38, 4 January 2014 (UTC)

Well, creating a section for trivia should be avoided (WP:TRIVIA). And the goal here is to create an encyclopedic-style article, so I think that adding this information about area code isn't the best way to achieve it ;) — Mayast (talk) 16:51, 4 January 2014 (UTC)

Overlinking

Twice today I've removed unnecessary wikilinks from the article per WP:OVERLINK. Twice they've been resubmitted without proper explanation, once by user Xwoodsterchinx here, and a second time by 142.197.254.166 here. I'm curious as to the rationale for re-inclusion that supercedes MOS:LINK guidelines, and I ask the users to participate in a discussion here. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 05:03, 3 March 2014 (UTC)

You're not wrong about the overlinking. However, albums in the discography section are generally wikilinked whether it's considered overlinking or not. I think linking the albums makes it better and easier for users who are searching for the studio albums. TheOnlyOne12 (talk) 08:50, 3 March 2014 (UTC)
This is why I added the links as well. People go to the discography section to look at the albums, it just makes sense to have them linked to their respected page. 142.197.254.166 (talk) 15:07, 3 March 2014 (UTC)
I yield. My parting thought is: Edit summaries save time. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 17:15, 3 March 2014 (UTC)

Single Quotes

I just realized that there are a lot of single quotes in this article for some inexplicable reason. If anybody finds the time to change those to double quotes, I would appreciate it. I would, but I'm lazy and the worst. Daniel J. Hakimi (talk) 02:41, 10 February 2016 (UTC)

Orphaned references in Arctic Monkeys

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Arctic Monkeys's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 00:32, 21 June 2019 (UTC)

Genres

I think indie rock should be the only genre in the infobox, since the band is constantly changing their sound on every album. 24.127.236.115 (talk) 19:00, 1 March 2020 (UTC)

Merge proposal of The View from the Afternoon and Who the Fuck Are Arctic Monkeys?

I feel like the pages for The View from the Afternoon and Who the Fuck Are Arctic Monkeys? would be better off as one article as they are both quite small and the latter is unsourced for a majority of its content. OBLIVIUS (talk) 00:56, 10 March 2020 (UTC)

Timeline

What's going on with the black streak through the section 3.1 Timeline? SquashEngineer (talk) 14:19, 23 June 2020 (UTC)

3-21-2021, Timeline issue above is still present. Does anyone know where to go to get help on how to fix this issue?. -arljjas — Preceding unsigned comment added by ArlJJAS (talkcontribs) 02:36, 22 March 2021 (UTC)
