Exceptions to this rule come if a television series is very new (i.e. less than two seasons on the air), in which case a table would clutter the page instead of providing clarity.
I suggest always using a table unless there were only ever less than two seasons on the air. This way:
- There's no rework required when further episodes are aired
- People less familiar with the convention will add lines to the table by default

Articles for the Wikipedia 1.0 project
Hi, I'm a member of the Wikipedia:Version_1.0_Editorial_Team, which is looking to identify quality articles in Wikipedia for future publication on CD or paper. We recently began assessing using these criteria, and we are looking for A-Class and good B-Class articles, with no POV or copyright problems. Can you recommend any suitable articles? Which Television Shows Should Get Their Own Page?
Just curious if there was a consensus on what television shows should get their own page for an episode list, and which should just have the list on their original article page. For example, I'm pretty sure that The Andy Griffith Show's eight seasons and significant popularity make it worthy of a seperate page. But what about the spinoff shows Mayberry RFD or Gomer Pyle, USMC? If I create List of Gomer Pyle, USMC Episodes, will it get nominated for deletion as being "listcruft" or "non-notable"? Or are all television shows notable enough to warrant a seperate episode list article?

- It is important information, and should be listed somewhere.
Personally, I think that more than one season would warrant a separate page. Otherwise the page for the TV show just gets too crowded. Do you agree? Split up the seasons...
I am currently working on the simpsons screenshots, and the site becomes huge! We will have 17 seasons of simpsons with approximately 350 pictures. Isn't it necessary to split it up to 17 pages, where every season gets its own page? Shouldn't there be a rule like: If a serie has more than 10 seasons, it has to be split up?

- I wouldn't suggest a rule. It really depends what you put in the episodes list. if there are no screenshots, you can have all 10 seasons on the same page. Here for The Simpsons, it could be nice to split the page in several pages, that could be organised like
- And in addition, a nice template at the bottom of each page to navigate through them. Look at what I've done for List of Homicide: Life on the Street episodes (there is far less episodes and per episode info than for The Simpsons). Lvr 16:47, 11 January 2006 (UTC)

Hello, is there anybody working in this project ? Isn't it duplicated with the sub-page Wikipedia:WikiProject Television/Episode list style guide of the proejct Wikipedia:WikiProject Television ? I'm interested
I've been looking through some tv series I'm interested in and have begun improving their episode lists in line with this project. I suggest that production codes are always included along with air dates as episode numbers are subject to debate and are sometimes confused. Perhaps it should also be mentioned at the top of the page whether the DVD releases are sorted by production number or air dates for example the family guy DVDs are sorted by the air dates, however Futurama was released in exact production order. Also how about a list on the project page of all episode lists in line with this project? Also there is nothing about multipart episodes and quotation marks do they go here "Two Part Episode (Part I)" or here "Two Part Episode" (Part II). I think the (part II) is not part of the episode title so it should be outside the quotations especially as the links are supposed to point to one article for a multi-part episode. In the naming of episodes it says capitlise all words except prepositions under 5 letters, this is how I frequently name episodes but it's been awhile since I did English language in depth. Im sure other people have problems with prepositions I found the following page useful [1]; some help should be given on the project page. For an example i was looking at the south park episode Roger Ebert Should Lay Off the Fatty Foods, off is often a preposition but in this case its part of a two word verb Lay Off and should remain capitilised Discordance 00:20, 16 January 2006 (UTC)
There also needs to be some help given in writing fair use rationales for the images. I've been doing this on the List of South Park episodes with help from sfufan2005. Episode overviews need to tie in with the picture in some way, normally identifying a new character or part of the plot. I also set the tables to fixed widths as this had been one of the previous comments on the article, i think set table widths need to be in the guidelines somewhere also. Does anybody agree? - The project is on hiatus pending a volunteer to take control of the project. All the points you made are agreeable and I say go ahead with all the ideas presented (I also recommend modifying the main page as required). Can you add a section to the main page that is a list of lists that match the criteria. "Two Part Episode (Part I)" sounds best to me. Capitalization issues are probably best left for the other project (The one dedicated to how individual episode articles should look). Come to think of it, two part episodes probably should be referred to that project too. For images, I was under the assumption that screenshots are always fair-use. If this is not always the case, refer the question to the Wikipedia helpdesk or a relatable licensing project. Sorry I have to leave you dangling there but I trust you, or another eager volunteer can step up to command this thing.--Will2k 04:17, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
The television episode project is labelled as inactive and doesnt really have any guidelines so I've gone with my ideas on the project page here. I've gone with "Two Part Episode" (Part II) as I've seen it used on wiki for the Star Trek episodes and it simplifies the links. I've also seen it used on some TV shows like ThunderCats, where the title screen for an episode would read "ThunderCats - HO!" (Part 1). Discordance 10:15, 25 January 2006 (UTC)
Folks, Does this make sense?
I have been in the home video business for over twenty years and the historical footage business for nearly as long. I also wrote a book on the great television series, The Prisoner, starring Patrick McGoohan.
My family happens to own a video portal and British Pathe...On teh video portal, there are CLEARED VIDEO clips for streaming. This includes The Honeymooners Lost Episodes, Lucy, Jack Paar, and literally dozens of quality stuff.
I started linking to external resources and was targeted for "Link Spamming" and self-promotion. I made it known that I was connected to EVTV1.com, the video portal.
I agreed that I would no longer link videos. By the way, each video clip is preceded by a :15 commercial... I would be willing to compose a list of all video clips dealing with television shows and make these available to any Wiki editor or writer. I will no longer link myself...it appears to be a conflict of interest.
The thing about the list is that there is no question regarding the rights... these have ALL been cleared (the ones I would make available. I will also post this message in "Resources". Please let me know if I should go through the work to do this. I am willing to do it if teh community thinks it is worthwhile. Please post responses.

Help with Samurai Jack episode guide
Just asking for a bit of help with the Samurai Jack episode guide. I can't seem to make the table function correctly. You can see on the page that Season 3 has only parts of the coloured spacers showing and doesn't display 100%. Also when rendered in Internet Explorer the coloured spacers disappear completely. Could anyone please help clean it up a bit. Jack 20:58, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
I think the problem in season 3 is that some episodes don't have descriptions. Since the description row is blank, it makes a small blank row that appears just above the color strip where the description should be. If you want to fix that, you could delete that row, but then it will be confusing for whoever has to add it again to put in the descriptions.
As for the IE problem, thats beyond me. Tobias087 03:41, 26 April 2006 (UTC)
