I just rewrote this by machine translating the Italian and Malagasy versions. Can someone who can read Japanese go into the ja:wiki article and do justice to this fellow?--Kintetsubuffalo (talk) 16:29, 1 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

Expert needed: Ōnakatomi no Yorimoto vs Ōnakatomi no Yoritomo

edit

The title and lead paragraph of this article disagree on the spelling of Yorimoto/Yoritomo. A quick survey of relevant literature suggests Ōnakatomi no Yoritomo is correct, but history of the article suggests the opposite. I'm hoping to find an expert here who can give a definitive answer please. - TB (talk) 09:54, 2 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

I am no expert, but as a native speaker of Japanese, I can assure you that 頼基 reads Yorimoto, but never Yoritomo. The article in jawp also presents him as Yorimoto.--Dwy (talk) 10:25, 2 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Topbanana: Yep, seconding that. The source also says Yorimoto (and is the same source as used in jawiki). Searches in Google Books also returned a couple of snippet view results saying the same. — Mr. Stradivarius ♪ talk ♪ 10:32, 2 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
Cheers - this is exactly the advice I needed. - TB (talk) 10:34, 2 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

Greetings WikiProject Japan/Archive/December 2016 Members!

This is a one-time-only message to inform you about a technical proposal to revive your Popular Pages list in the 2016 Community Wishlist Survey that I think you may be interested in reviewing and perhaps even voting for:

If the above proposal gets in the Top 10 based on the votes, there is a high likelihood of this bot being restored so your project will again see monthly updates of popular pages.

Further, there are over 260 proposals in all to review and vote for, across many aspects of wikis.

Thank you for your consideration. Please note that voting for proposals continues through December 12, 2016.

Best regards, SteviethemanDelivered: 18:02, 7 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

Ken Harada(s)

edit

I'm beginning to question if Ken Harada (Scouting) and Ken Harada (politician) aren't the same person. I got the kanji from ja:ブロンズ・ウルフ章受章者の一覧, #200, however Golden Pheasant Award has a Ken Harada whose kanji matches the politician, it fits both the timing and the pattern of the rest of these awards. Is there any sort of Japanese obituary database, or does anyone have any ideas? Thanks!--Kintetsubuffalo (talk) 10:27, 2 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

Yes, it looks like they were the same person. Here in Japanese is a list of Golden Pheasant recipients: 䝪䞊䜲䝇䜹䜴䝖日本連盟 きじ章受章者 [Recipient of the Golden Pheasant Award of the Scout Association of Japan] (PDF). Reinanzaka Scout Club (in jp). 2014-05-23. Archived from the original (PDF) on 2020-08-11.{{cite web}}: CS1 maint: unrecognized language (link).

(原田 憲) is listed as a member of a group consisting of either Prime Ministers or Chairman of the Diet Member Scouting Association ((スカウト国会議員連盟会長)). And here also in Japanese is one saying that the Wolf award went to the Chairman of the Diet Member Association. So it looks like both of the awards mentioned in the Scouting article went to the politician. – Margin1522 (talk) 15:04, 2 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, so sorry I missed this for a week, been busy!--Kintetsubuffalo (talk) 05:34, 14 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
