Wikipedia talk:Featured articles that haven't been on the Main Page

Ridge Route edit

I removed Ridge Route from this list since it was the September 30, 2004 TFA. I think someone should pay a little more attention when an article such as that one was demoted on WP:FAR then upgraded back to FA status. I do not know what other similar articles should be removed. What's the point of this page? >Radiant< 11:49, 10 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Title says it all. Buc 07:31, 15 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

More to the point, who keeps it up-to-date? Carcharoth 21:58, 15 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Updates edit

I have just updated many of the sections, but there are some that I haven't gotten to and it's time for me to go to bed. Those that remain to be updated are:

  • Biology
  • Geography and places
  • History
  • Literature and theatre
  • Media
  • Music
  • Royalty, nobility and heraldry
  • Sport and recreation
  • Transport
  • Video gaming

Of course, once Sandy promotes another round of FAs this list will become fully obsolete once again. Can't a bot do this? -MBK004 04:58, 2 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Sub sections edit

Shouldn't this page have the same sub sections the main FA page now has? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bucs (talkcontribs) 22:52, 18 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Yes. Once Sandy finishes up the rearrangement, I'll add in the subsections when I get the time. Dabomb87 (talk) 14:24, 19 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Bot to update this page edit

I've filed a request to approve a bot to keep this page up-to-date; see WP:Bots/Requests for approval/UcuchaBot 5. Ucucha (talk) 20:30, 13 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

"Haven't" or "have not"? edit

As abbreviations such as "haven't" would be frowned upon in a featured article, shouldn't this page be moved to Wikipedia:Featured articles that have not been on the Main Page? BencherliteTalk 00:46, 23 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Just saw this, and thought the exact same thing. FunkMonk (talk) 21:26, 11 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
Such a move would have to be done very carefully so as to not upset the Bots. Hawkeye7 (talk) 21:34, 11 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

Four Freedoms edit

I was browsing through the list and I found that Four Freedoms is not actually a FA, but rather a GA. I removed it manually from the list, but it might not work. I don't know how this thing works, the bot might just re-add it.

Bot re-adds articles that have already been on the main page edit

I've just gone through and removed a bunch of animal articles that have already been on the main-page, but then the FACbot re-added them with this edit:[1] What's up with that? FunkMonk (talk) 12:59, 21 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

You cannot update that page directly. The FACBot generates it from Wikipedia:Featured articles. I've made the required edit, and the FACBot will remove Steller's sea cow in the next run in an hour or so. The FACBot didn't run for a few days in September due to a security-related problem, but the delegates usually like to handle this manually in any case. The FACBot will do it for them, but not until the day. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 21:57, 6 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
Alright, still a good bunch left that were on the main page long ago. FunkMonk (talk) 22:02, 6 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
Similarly, lead has already been on the main page, but it keeps getting readded. What's the procedure to fix this? Double sharp (talk) 10:16, 5 February 2018 (UTC)Reply
Giganotosaurus was also TFA long ago, but is still here. FunkMonk (talk) 09:47, 20 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
Same goes for Spotted green pigeon. FunkMonk (talk) 22:40, 25 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Category Biblioteca Marciana edit

FunkMonk, Hello, I'm not sure if you're the right person to contact. The article on the Biblioteca Marciana was recently promoted to FA, but it seems to be in an inappropriate category. Currently, it's listed under 'Literature and theatre', but it has little in common with the other articles in that category. It seems closest to those in 'Architecture and archaeology'. At GA, it was under 'Art and Architecture'. Can you help?Venicescapes (talk) 11:54, 21 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

I'd think Hawkeye7 knows more about the technical stuff here? FunkMonk (talk) 16:25, 21 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
The placement of the articles on the Wikipedia:Featured articles page is not done by the FACBot, it is done manually by the FAC coordinator, in this case Laser brain.[2] There shouldn't be any problem with just moving it on the page. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 19:41, 21 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
Moved. --Laser brain (talk) 23:55, 21 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
