The MacArthur artical says he won the Silver Star on six occasions in WWI, but when checking the link to Silver Star it says the medal was first awarded in 1934. Anyone up to correct or clarify. Thanks. Mkbell62 (talk) 10:35, 10 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

Originally the silver star was a silver star called the Citation Star worn on the World War I Victory Medal. On 19 July 1932 the Secretary of War approved MacArthur's proposal that the Silver Star medal replace the Citation Star. Accordingly, MacArthur exchanged his six citation stars for the Silver Star medal with five oak leaf clusters. It does say this in the article. Hawkeye7 (talk) 10:58, 10 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
