WiR redlist index: Occupations A to F

Welcome to WikiProject Women in Red (WiR). Our objective is to turn red links into blue ones. Our scope is women's biographies, women's works, and women's issues, broadly construed.

This list of red links is intended to serve as a basis for creating new articles on the English Wikipedia. Please note however that the red links on this list may well not be suitable as the basis for an article. All new articles must satisfy Wikipedia's notability criteria with reliable independent sources. This list needs to be updated manually.

  • The page includes women who have biographies in Dictionary of Women Worldwide: 25,000 Women Through The Ages (2006), listed by occupation, then alphabetically by last name.
  • This redlink page is in development. You can help by:
  1. Removing blue links, unless they are marked as incorrect in some way. Please check mononymous or duplicate blue links (e.g. Abigail or two women both named Jane Smith but with different dates) to make sure the listed woman has an entry.
  2. Adding a redirect if you find that a name redlinked here has an entry under another name, so the redlinked name will be searchable in the encyclopedia.
  3. Tracking down information about the women who could not be positively identified (grouped in top section).
  • All sections have been entered in Wikidata and will appear on the redlink list generated from Wikidata. If you add a new redlink to one of these marked sections, please indicate this next to the link.

There seem to be either errors or contradictions in the following entries which make matching with Wikidata difficult. Please help!

  • Gunnhild (fl. 1150s) Norwegian consort - probably Gunnhild, Mother of Kings (Q270541)
  • Ida Plantagenet. (fl. 1175) Countess of Norfolk - probably Ida de Tosny (Q4529990)
  • Irmentrude (d. 820) Countess of Altdorf and founder of the Welf line
  • Chinchon, Ana, countess of (1576–1639) Spanish countess - see background at [1]
  • Elisabetta Montefeltro (fl. 15th c.) ??Confusion of Giovanna Montefeltro (fl. 15th c.) & Elisabetta Montefeltro (1471–1526)
  • Guzman, Eleonore de (d. 1512) - I think there were some errors in thepeerage.com that got imported into Wikidata, because she is omitted.
  • Matilda (fl. 680s) Queen of Austrasia - not sure, think this has been superseded by later scholarship?
  • Constance / Empress Constance (d. 305 CE) - apparently wife of Maximin Daia, but I don't know where the name Constance comes from / this might be part of the legend of Saint Catherine of Alexandria?
  • Trotula (c. 1040s-1097) - presumably Trota of Salerno but dates differ
