Oklahoma land openings

edit

Wnalyd (talk · contribs) has pointed out that at least one article (Oklahoma Land Race) relating to the oklahoma land openings is factually inaccurate. This should get fixed and the other articles looked at.

Here's a list of Oklahoma land openings from http://marti.rootsweb.com/land/oklands.html:

  1. Oklahoma Territory's First Land Run (1889 April 22)
  2. Iowa, Sac, Fox, Pottawatomie, and Shawnee Lands (1891 September 22)
  3. Cheyenne and Arapaho land opened by land run (1892 April 19)
  4. Cherokee Outlet opened by land run (1893 September 16)
  5. Kickapoo lands opened (1895 May 3)
  6. Greer County decision made in United States vs. Texas (1896 March 16)
  7. Wichita-Caddo and Comanche, Kiowa and Apache lands (1901 August 1)
    • This was actually a "land lottery"
  8. Ponca, Otoe-Missouri and Kaw (Kansas) reservations (1904)
  9. Osage Allotment Act passed (1906)
  10. Big Pasture lands opened by bids (1906 December)
  11. US State (1907 November 16)

Historic places

edit

Pretty much all of the following historic places need to be created (from the National Register of Historic Places). If you do not have an good photo for these places already, please place {{reqphotoin|Oklahoma}} in the talk pages. Also, consider submiting a sentence for the did you know feature on the Main page. If you do not have time or desire to come up with a DYK, please post a request at WikiProject Oklahoma or on my talk page. Thanks. Ash Lux 11:22, 27 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
