August 6 edit

16:44, 6 August 2023 review of submission by Hikmatsharma edit

Why this artice rejected? what can i do to publish my article ? Hikmatsharma (talk) 16:44, 6 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Hikmatsharma.
Unfortunately, as your article was rejected there is nothing you can do - Roshan Das cannot have a Wikipedia article.
Any articles about living people must pass the Wikipedia:Notability (people) threshold. Check that link for the strict criteria Wikipedia uses. At this time Roshan does not pass that criteria.
Please remember that Wikipedia is not a place for any type of self-promotion or advertisement. Wikipedia is not a social media site like Facebook, Instagram, or LinkedIn.
Hope that helps, let me know if you have any more questions. Qcne (talk) 17:13, 6 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

17:31, 6 August 2023 review of submission by TheCelebrinator edit

My list was rejected for, allegedly, being a mirror-copy of a list that is already available on another website. Aside from the fact that a quick glance at both Metacritic’s list and mine will show that to be false, my article specifically mentions that there is a discrepancy between my list and Metacritic’s due, in large part, to the fact that Metacritic often counts multiple versions of the same game on other platforms as different entries on their list, whereas mine doesn’t. Therefore, I ask for a re-review. TheCelebrinator (talk) 17:31, 6 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

My question was implicitly stated, but I’ll just ask it explicitly anyways: why was my article rejected despite all of the above? TheCelebrinator (talk) 17:32, 6 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
As per the comment on your rejected draft Wikipedia does not host copies of one website's list of statistics, your draft has zero independent sources and is contrary to Wikipedia's purpose. Theroadislong (talk) 17:49, 6 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That is incorrect. The first four sources I used on my article, which has over 100 sources, are all from different websites that help illustrate just how important, whether warranted or not, Metacritic is to both the industry and fans.
And a quick cross-check of my list shows that both Metacritic’s list and mine significantly differ. The opposite of what a copy, which implies exact reproduction, is. TheCelebrinator (talk) 18:11, 6 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@TheCelebrinator you need to make these arguments with the reviewer who rejected the draft. I note Gamespot and Metacritic are owned by the same company so Gamespot is not an independent source (or at least weak). S0091 (talk) 18:20, 6 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I agree, which is what I’m presently doing at this discussion.
The article I used on GameSpot was published in 2012, well before its acquisition by FANDOM, so your point, while well-intentioned, doesn’t apply here. TheCelebrinator (talk) 18:31, 6 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@TheCelebrinator then your recourse is to let that discussion continue to see if you can gain consensus. There is nothing the AfC Helpdesk can do. S0091 (talk) 18:38, 6 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@TheCelebrinator to clarify, my comment about GameSpot and Metacritic was not about Fandom. At the bottom the cited article it states "Metacritic and GameSpot are both owned by CBS Interactive." S0091 (talk) 18:51, 6 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, OK. You’re right, my mistake. At any rate, multiple news outlets have covered the event described in the article, so using another source wouldn’t change much. Thank you for pointing that out. TheCelebrinator (talk) 18:54, 6 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The sourcing has been changed so it shouldn’t be a problem now. Thank you again for pointing that out. TheCelebrinator (talk) 18:58, 6 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
