06:54:02, 25 October 2022 review of submission by Obobson edit

Obobson created an article on the current Earl of Effingham and the page was moved to draftspace by SunDawn. I think that the submission should be accepted and the page moved to mainspace, because the Earl is presumed to be notable under WP:POLITICIAN as a member of the House of Lords, which is a national legislative body. In addition, there are articles on all other current members of the House of Lords in the mainspace. Editor FIN (talk) 06:54, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Editor FIN: how do we know this was draftified for lack of notability? Looks to me like the issue is lack of referencing. Eg. the personal details like DOB need to be supported by a reliable published source. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 07:15, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

14:01:58, 25 October 2022 review of draft by Sarahfaderspeaks edit

Hello, I am new to Wikipedia and trying to publish an article about the brand Boredwalk and their Grievance Journal. Can you please provide me specific feedback so that I can get this article up on the site? What needs to be changed?

Sarahfaderspeaks (talk) 14:01, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Sarahfaderspeaks: you need to demonstrate that this company is notable by meeting the WP:GNG standard (comfortably, as the bar is higher for companies than most other subjects). This requires significant coverage in multiple independent and reliable secondary sources. Your draft currently cites the company's own website, an interview with the founders, and a commercial operation (reseller?), none of which are independent. Best, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 14:12, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, can you please review my revised submission? Sarahfaderspeaks (talk) 14:20, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You have submitted it for a review and it is pending. As noted, this could take some time. We don't have the people to do pre-review reviews. 331dot (talk) 14:33, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Did I re-submit correctly? Also, do you notify the writer if it has been accepted? Sarahfaderspeaks (talk) 14:40, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

If an article is accepted, do you notify the writer? Sarahfaderspeaks (talk) 14:38, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Sarahfaderspeaks: yes, the system will notify the submitter of the draft. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 14:41, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
(ec) Yes, you will be told of the result, but you should still check in occasionally. If you have follow up comments in the near term, please edit this existing section, instead of creating additional sections. 331dot (talk) 14:42, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you so much! I'm sorry, I'm really confused by this interface and still learning the ropes. I'm going to do my own research, but any advice about getting a successful article up would be much appreciated. Additionally, do I have to wait until this article is published to start writing another? It seems as if I can't write another one in the sandbox. Did I get that right? Sarahfaderspeaks (talk) 14:47, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Sarahfaderspeaks: you can create multiple drafts in either the draftspace (preferred for AfC drafts) or your own userspace. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 15:02, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Request on 14:51:44, 25 October 2022 for assistance on AfC submission by Aftershockkkk edit

Hi there,

I wanted to start contributing to wiki efforts and start creating pages that do not exist or editing existing ones. I am not exactly sure why my first page was not accepted and it says that isn't in-depth when there are pages regarding similar topics with simply 2 sentences on the page. The page have been structured as per Wikipedia guidances and references have been provided. I am not exactly sure what else should be done, as there's not much more data to be included on that specific page and I prefer not to write things that might not be true or not 100% confirmed.

Please do let me know how this draft could be improved, as I do have a few more similar topics almost ready to go.

Best Regards.

Aftershockkkk (talk) 14:51, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Aftershockkkk: firstly, do not compare your draft to other articles (see OTHERSTUFFEXISTS), because you will always find one that has even weaker referencing than yours. Instead, you need to make sure your draft complies with the relevant guidelines which are required for inclusion in the encyclopaedia.
In this case, the main issue is that of notability. Per WP:GNG, we need to see significant coverage in multiple independent and reliable secondary sources (newspapers, magazines, TV or radio programmes, etc.). Your draft cites no such source. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 15:34, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

15:22:11, 25 October 2022 review of submission by Oscarfelix.may edit

I am confused about the state of the 'Steuart Padwick' page. I have submitted a number of changes over the years, each time trying to address the reason for rejection. Then in the middle of last year got a rejection saying 'not sufficiently notable for inclusion in Wikipedia'. Since that time the breadth and importance of the work Steuart Padwick gets involved in has increased hugely, and I have therefore added that. I have also tried to tighten down on the words. What I don't know now is what the outcome of those changes have been? Have they been seen?

Oscarfelix.may (talk) 15:22, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Oscarfelix.may: almost certainly no reviewer has looked at the draft since it was rejected, given that it is no longer in the pool of pending drafts. If you wish to make a case for the subject having since then become notable (and on that point, note that this depends on the quality of the sources, not on the 'importance' etc. of the work the person is involved in), this is something you need to take up directly with the reviewer who rejected the draft. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 15:29, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

16:17:20, 25 October 2022 review of submission by Cris DaBica edit

I need advice on what kinds of references are acceptable. I have changed the references multiple times and believe they all represent third-party sources but the article continues to be rejected. Thank you.

Cris DaBica (talk) 16:17, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Cris DaBica! These are press releases and other other sources that don't provide the level of coverage required for notable companies. cc @MaxnaCarta @HenryTemplo if they have incremental feedback. Star Mississippi 17:02, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The topic is not notable. Period. It is not an appropriate topic for the project. MaxnaCarta (talk) 19:17, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

16:32:09, 25 October 2022 review of submission by Kevin Creekman edit

I am requesting a re-review of the Kevin Creekman article as I have taken your advice and made updates to showcase Kevin's weight loss journey and struggles with going from a morbidly obese teenager to a completely transformed social media creator and musician. His story has inspired many people to take the steps necessary to change their health and lives to become a better version of themselves. Here is the rewrite and I am willing to update, change or recreate any portion of it. I would also like to add pictures of his transformation and if him as a musician.

______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Kevin Creekman (born July 17, 1988), also known by his social media name "The Creekman", is a Swiss-born, German-raised social media sensation, model, actor, musician and former tattoo artist and social worker now living in Los Angeles, California. He rose to prominence through sharing his weight loss transformation from a morbidly obese teen to a tattooed social media personality, garnering him close to 4 million followers across all social media platforms. Named the “Sexiest Tattooed Man on the Planet" by Inked Magazine, he is currently the bassist and founding member of the band Drxg The Kids.

Early Life Kevin was born in Lucerne, Switzerland and moved to Germany at the age of 11 after his father died in a motorcycle accident. By the time of his father’s death, Kevin was already suffering from morbid obesity. At the age of 18 he started his weight loss journey. In 2013 Kevin received his BA degree in social work from the University of Applied Science in Cologne, Germany. In the following years, he worked as a probation officer, child protective services caseworker and in the public integration centers in Cologne, Germany. In 2015 he created a Facebook account, “The Creekman” to advertise himself as a musician which was the launch of his social media recognition. Kevin then began to catch the attention of various media outlets based on his transformation which helped to launch him further into modeling. He then moved to Los Angeles, California in 2018, where he continues his modeling, acting and music career.

Weight Loss Journey Kevin is best known for his one-of-a-kind weight loss and body transformation story that has inspired millions of people. His popularity continues to grow through social media as he shares his mindset of, “your biggest weakness is your biggest strength,” the very mindset that fueled his reinvention. Kevin had been overweight since he was a child, with stretch marks appearing as early as the age of ten. As he aged, his weight increased. He eventually stopped weighing himself due to how large he had become. He was frequently bullied and tormented by his classmates over his appearance and shut himself off from all social experiences outside of school and played video games and ate junk food. He was an outsider. He finally hit his breaking point when he was 18 and weighed over 335 pounds (150kg). He found a friend who shared his desire to reduce weight. They supported each other, stayed motivated and pushed each other to achieve their mutual ambition. The fear of always being alone motivated him to lose over 176 pounds (80kg), over 50% of his body weight, in one year through cutting out sweets, eating 1500 calories a day, cardio exercise and a low carb diet. After finally reaching his goal weight, another problem arose. The loss of so much weight caused excess skin to hang in his chest and abdomen area. Although he had achieved his weight goal, he still did not feel comfortable in his own body. He made the decision to have the excess skin removed and opted for several surgeries with the first being an Abdominoplasty in 2014. The first surgery included cuts from his chest area down to the pubic area and around both sides and left him with scars that were quite noticeable and drew unwanted attention. He was self-conscious about these scars to the point where he didn’t take his shirt off to swim, even around his close friends and family. His second surgery occurred two years later to tighten the skin on his back and left even more scars. He was determined to start his new life and came up with a solution that would hide his scars and changes his life – tattoos. Kevin was tattooed before his surgery, however, in the following years after his surgery Kevin covered his scars with a full body tattoo to complete his transformation and hide his scars. He has spent approximately 250 hours under the tattoo gun over the years and has stated that, “My tattoos were the last puzzle piece to build strength, confidence and freedom in my skin.” Followers can see Kevin’s story and pictures of his tattoos on all his social media accounts.

Body Image Despite Kevin’s success in managing his weight for 16 years he still struggles with his body image daily. There are times when he still sees and feels like the kid playing video games and eating junk food. He has been open about self-perception in interviews and has even gone so far as to mention Body Dysmorphia when discussing his views on his body post transformation. Kevin uses his social media platforms to inform the public on how taking a measured, healthy approach to weight loss will foster a more positive mindset.

Career Kevin started his career as a model and a social media creator in 2015 and has expanded his social media reach from Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to his growing following on TikTok. He quickly became one of the most relevant and talked about tattoo models with millions of followers across all social media platforms and got the attention of several online resources like Inked Magazine, Men’s Health, LADbible as well as Daily Mail. Major brands like Golds Gym and ConAir used Kevin as the face and spokesperson for their brand. In 2018, Kevin joined as a bassist for singer songwriter Gil Ofarim. In 2021, he collaborated with singer Tim Lambesis (As I Lay Dying) on his project Born Through Fire as well as joined as bass player and permanent member for Tommy Vext’s (ex-lead singer of Bad Wolves) new band The Lone Wolf. Kevin has also acted as the leading male role in music videos for Trisha Paytas, Bad Wolves and Courtney Stodden. He helped to form a new band in 2022, Drxg The Kids and

  • Blocked for self promotion. Star Mississippi 18:39, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Star Mississippi Is the OP really blocked? I looked for him in the block log, and got no results. There's no note on his talk page, and his name is not struck out -- I have that gadget.
Also, do we block for one self-promotional submission? Don't editors get a chance to learn? David10244 (talk) 11:37, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Kevin Creekman: We don't accept content which verges on the hagiographical; I will be tagging it for speedy deletion as blatant and irreparable advertizing/promotion shortly. This is without getting into the fact this page is utterly unsourced. —Jéské Couriano v^_^v a little blue Bori 19:16, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
First, thank you for responding so quickly. My goal is to get the article published, not deleted. I may have removed my sources when re-publishing and will absolutely work with someone from the community to add / update / cite more sources if necessary. I follow Kevin Creekman on social media and my goal is to continue to get Kevin's story out to continue to inspire the morbidly obese to take that first step toward transformation. I will recheck my sources and make sure they are acceptable and properly cited.
Next, if there are resources here on Wikipedia, I can work with to take the "saintly" expressions out of the content while improving the context, I will spend as much time with them as necessary. Again, the goal is to get the article published.
Thank you again. Kevin Creekman (talk) 12:56, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Kevin Creekman If you are not Mr. Creekman, you cannot use his name as your username. You will need to change it immediately- please make a request at Special:GlobalRenameRequest or WP:CHUS as soon as you can. 331dot (talk) 13:06, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for that advice. I just made the request to change the username. I appreciate your focus on this as it is very important to me to do this right and get the article published. Kevin Creekman (talk) 13:33, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
[M]y goal is to continue to get Kevin's story out to continue to inspire the morbidly obese to take that first step is very explicitly not something we do. We are an encyclopaedia, not a motivational website. —Jéské Couriano v^_^v a little blue Bori 18:21, 28 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

17:55:20, 25 October 2022 review of submission by Masonsb edit

The page was declined again and i'm not totally sure why, so i'm reaching out to try and figure this out :) I ama ware of the independent sources claim and i went in and added more but it was still declined. I think what i'd really like to get an answer on is how this wikipedia page is any different to the page of A-List co-creator Nina Metivier? Nina Metivier . They have very similar sources too. Why is she allowed one, but Dan, who is a long time british children's TV writer isn't? I'm happy to make any amends needed but I think the sources are right- especially given the comparison with Nina Metivier's (Another writer and collaborator with Dan) wikipedia. That being said I trust Wikimedia know what they're doing and I thank you for any help on getting this published! <3

Masonsb Beware in citing other articles as a reason for yours to exist; it could be that these other articles are also inappropriate. Please see other stuff exists. As this is a volunteer project where people do what they can when they can, it is possible for inappropriate articles to get by us. We can only address what we know about. If you want to use other articles as an example or model, use those classified as good articles, which have been thorougly vetted by the community. You are welcome to help us out by identifying other inappropriate articles you have seen for possible action.
What you need are not more sources, but better quality sources- sources that provide significant coverage of the subject beyond merely telling us what they have done. 331dot (talk) 19:27, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Masonsb: Refer to User:Jéské Couriano/Decode:
The BAFTA awards are literally the only sources here that can be cited - and that is a massive issue since you're writing about a still-living person. You need much better sources and to retool the article to use the information those sources explicitly state. —Jéské Couriano v^_^v a little blue Bori 19:36, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I have revised the draft to follow the ORGCRIT and Notability guidelines listed by @CNMall41. The articles sourced meet the above criteria with multiple mentions from secondary independent sources that are reputable publications and staff writers. They also meet the guidelines on the Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Perennial sources page. Thank you for your time and thorough examination of each draft.
