August 27 edit

11:52:21, 27 August 2018 review of submission by Wendwell edit

I seek feedback on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Representation_of_Paraphilias_in_the_Art

1. Does this belong in the main part of Wikipedia?

2. Is it consistent with Wikipedia standards and formatting?

3. Do the standards I have suggested on the talk page past muster?

4. Is there a way of making it easier for others to add informationto the tables?

I don't intend doing much more with the page once the basics are established. I need to limit time spent staring at screens and using a mouse. I would be very happy if anyone wanted to take a lead role for this.

@Wendwell: Here are my answers:
1. No. It is only a draft, not an article.
2. No. Section headers (level 2 headers) should not be bold according to MOS:BOLD; the lead section does not adequately summarize the key points of its contents; the sections only contain tables, which paragraphs are preferred; the lead section isn't written in a neutral point of view (especially the sentence Further guidelines for entries are included on the Talk page. - Wikipedia is not a manual); it's extremely rare to have an article with notes, references and sources in the same section since they are the same.
3. Yes.
4. No. Tables are not used like this.

I need to simply understand what i have to do to get my "Frank de Painter" article to get published on wikipedia

Frankdepainter (talk) 12:47, 27 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Frankdepainter: - it is almost impossible (and strongly discouraged) to push through an autobiography into wikipedia - obviously it indicates a massive conflict of interest, hindering your ability to make a neutral article. Your article, by the nature of its content, suggests an advertising desire for the article (whether that is the case or not)
Multiple reviewers have now declined the review not merely as currently not passing the required standards but they also believe that, at the current moment in time, it is not possible to improve it to a suitable standard (because the needed sources don't exist).
As there are news articles with your work in, clearly you are reasonably successful as an artist - hopefully as you continue your work someone else will write a wikipedia article about you. This is by far the preferable manner. It is worthwhile looking at articles about other modern artists to see the quality of article and sourcing. 17:39:01, 27 August 2018 review of draft by Ericxferrell edit

My first article is being denied due to not enough significant coverage, but it seems to have more coverage than other similar articles for small radio stations. What could I add to the draft to help get it approved?

Thank you!

Ericxferrell (talk) 17:39, 27 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Ericxferrell: Ignore similar articles. See WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS for why. Being like crap is not the standard the draft needs to meet, it needs to meet WP:BROADCAST. As someone with a conflict of interest, it's a horrible idea for you to write the article. Follow the advice in WP:BFAQ#COMPANY and let volunteers at Wikipedia:Requested articles write any article. Plenty of volunteers are interested in radio stations and/or Mississippi-related topics. --Worldbruce (talk) 15:20, 28 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

18:32:20, 27 August 2018 review of draft by Patrick.Loera edit

I would like to know why my contributions have not been published yet. It has been two months since my first submission, and I believe that I have followed the suggestions provided by the reviews. Jason Khalipa is a CrossFit champion who should be documented on Wikipedia like other CrossFit champions of his caliber. What else do I need to do to publish this article?

Patrick.Loera (talk) 18:32, 27 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Patrick.Loera Greetings. To answer your question: First of all, we have thousand of articles to review where by AfC reviewers are all volunteers. Secondly, it is not first comes firt basis when it comes to reviewing a draft article. Reviewers would choose subject they are comfortable with to review the draft just as a biology teacher wont review mathematics term paper. I have reviewed your draft article and see the comment below
All sources provided are primary sources (not independent). We are after independent, reliable sources (RS) with at least3 RS sources talk about the subject "directly" in length and in dept and not only merely passing mentioned. Home page, facebook, sources associated with subject (such the school he attended, sport event/organizer he competed and etc), interview, and etc are considered not independent sources as the info come from the subject. Sources from major newspapers, reliable and well reputable magazines (as long they are not interview article) should be ok. Also pls read WP:Your First Article to familiar yourself on how to write an article in Wikipedia and when you find at least 3 independent reliable sources indicating he was the Cross Fit Games champ, then do resubmit. Thank you. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 10:46, 28 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Hi cassiopeia, Thank you for your feedback. I appreciate you taking the time to explain the process. I will work on improving the sources to reflect at least three independent, reliable sources that relate the subject and the athlete's achievements. Thank you. 18:36:38, 27 August 2018 review of draft by Squarebox2017 edit

Hi, I have a missing reference (No. 6) on my reference list but I'm not sure how to insert it in the gap. Could you advise please? Many thanks

Squarebox2017 (talk) 18:36, 27 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Squarebox2017 Fixed. Please note IMBD, facebook, home page, interview, sources associated with the subject and etc can not be used as independent, reliable sources which we are after to demonstrate subject notability to merit a page in Wikipedia. You need to rework a little bit on the draft. Please also see WP:Your First Article referencing for Beginners to familiar yourself on how to write an article and citing in Wikipedia. Thank you. The draft has been declined three times now. The draft has been re-edited after each decline according to the reasons for the decline. Now, I re-edited the draft again according to the comment of decline. However, before resubmitting, I want to make sure that it was only the lacking references in the "professional background" section that were problematic. If not, I would appreciate a more detailed reason for the declines in order to adequately satisfy the English Wikipedia standards.
