Castel del Monte, Apulia edit

Original - The Castel del Monte in an UNESCO World Heritage Site in Southern Italy, featured on the reverse of the Italian-issue 1 Euro cent coin. It has been built by the Holy Roman Emperor Frederick II between 1240 and 1250.
Reason
Very nice image of an important building, with only a few technical issues. Good lighting makes it look good at standard or thumbnail size. Adds great value to the articles it illustrates. The high resolution provides detailed information about the building.

  • Support --Classic under architectural photos, and also very nice, and bright overview. --Tadija (talk) 21:41, 17 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak support Good resolution, better than other pictures we have. Would be full support if I didn't feel that the way the walls seem to lean outward looks a bit unnatural. --JN466 22:23, 21 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment: Though it is very artistic, it is not very encyclopaedic. The rain distracts from the building. --Redtigerxyz Talk 11:49, 30 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
    • But a building has many aspects, not just the sterile flat image one. First one sees the rain, than looks to the building that reads the article, I think this is how it actually works. It's artistic value makes it attracting, not distracting. Moreover the rain facilitates a symbolic reading of the building. --Elekhh (talk) 19:39, 30 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
