In software, certainly, any kind of complexity is best nested in its own function to improve readability and maintainability. It also makes code more reusable. I think this fits the bill, even with one usage in an article directly. I think {{Calculate ratio|57801|4657}} is far more readable than {{#expr:57801/4657round1}}:1 in an article where most people editing have no clue how to read template syntax and don't particularly care either, this just seems confusing.
