Northern Lightz

Page deleted due to "lack of notability". However, pages for the preceding and suceeding related Scottish underground comics "Electric Soup" and "Wasted (Scottish Comic)" have remained, leaving the latter as an orphan article. The reason I created the wiki entries for Northern Lightz and Wasted comics (the Electric Soup entry already existed) was to clear up confusion between these three related but distinct titles, which often occurs in poorly researched online material. In my opinion, the usefulness of the entries for both Electric Soup and Wasted are compromised by the lack of a Northern Lightz entry, it being the missing link between the two in the development of Scottish underground comics. ab -92.26.123.69 (talk) 13:38, 2 February 2012 (UTC)

David Charles (Physician)

Hello, I would like to have this article restored so that I may update it with more current information pertaining to Dr. David Charles. I am not entirely sure why it was deleted in the first place (I do not believe that it violated any of the speedy deletion criteria). Wikipedia says that the article titled David Charles (Physician) was deleted by/due to PROD which I hope means that it can be restored. Thank you very much in advance! -Azeresen (talk) 21:36, 2 February 2012 (UTC)

Not done - this article has not been restored because it does not appear to meet our guidelines for inclusion of articles concerning people. In general, Wikipedia considers a topic to be notable if there exist multiple reliable sources of information on the topic, external to the subject itself. Articles concerning people will be deleted on sight if they are considered to be unambiguous advertising or promotion, or if they do not contain a credible assertion of the significance of the subject. The article basically said, "he's a professor at Vandy." That's not an assertion of notability. --Orange Mike | Talk 23:54, 2 February 2012 (UTC)

Sean Zarinegar Travels America

I followed the directions (below):

edit the page remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}} save the page

And, yet, the article "Sean Zarinegar Travels America" was still deleted. The reason for the deletion given was:

"This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia."

There is no field on an any Wikipedia page that requires or allows for the writer of the article to "indicate how or why the subject is important or significant."

In fact, the words "this subject is important or significant because..." do not exist on any Wikipedia page, including the founder Jimmy Wales' Wikipedia page.

The deletion was unjust, wrong and illogical. -LosAngelesWriter (talk) 00:41, 3 February 2012 (UTC)

I wrote to mr Y next letter around week ago:

"Hello. My article about DroidDevelop was deleted. Main purpose of this article publication - writing about Android application development on the Android devices with correct apk file as result.
At last year I many time try to find any application to programming on my tablet in the public transportation and found for me only JavaIDEDroid. But this application was not usability for me and I wrote DroidDevelop.
In the article "Android software development" supposedly exists all of the main ways of Android programming. But only desktop programming ways or Basic interpreters (including commercial) contains in this.
Last month I add several lines to illustrating this type of programming (see DroidDevelop part on the "http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Android_software_development&oldid=467177167"). This was removed as spam. I don't understand why, but ok, this is not my article and some people can delete any information without offer an alternative.
But this is separate article which illustrate program for Java programing on the Android operating system. An other similar program I can't find on the wikipedia. Do you ignoring this theme in principle?"

But I don't have any answer. What's I need to doing? — Preceding unsigned comment added by DarkGoodWIN (talkcontribs) 13:37, 31 January 2012 (UTC)

Thrive (film)

I am surprised that this article was deleted from Wikipedia. I just watched the movie and wanted to get some more background information. I was really surprised that Wikipedia does not contain an article about this movie. In fact, the article was deleted 3 days ago. I read in the deletion discussion that some people were not fully happy with the contents of the page. I cannot judge this argument as i have never seen the page. Nevertheless, it did not look clear to me that a deletion decision was formally taken using the Wikipedia processes (but i'm not too familiar with those). Anyways, deleting the entire page instead of just removing the controversial parts just has a "funny smell" to it (not implying anything funny happened, could just be over-eager housekeeping IMHO), especially if you take the stuff the movie talks about into account. I would suggest to restore at least a basic page about the movie. Sorry if this is in any way the wrong form or wording for this kind of request, i am just an ordinary netizen not usually involved with Wikipedia. -31.11.9.159 (talk) 01:46, 5 February 2012 (UTC)

After you do so, if your concerns are not addressed and you still seek undeletion, a request may be made at deletion review. File:Old Dutch.gif

I haven't been around for a few months, but it looks like this was deleted in my absence due to "lacking authorship information." It's the Old Dutch cleanser logo and is from an Old Dutch cleanser advertisement from, if I recall correctly no longer having access to the page, the 1910's. Again, if I recall correctly, it indicated that as well as the current owner of the Old Dutch mark. Obviously, the author of an Old Dutch advertisement would be the company itself.... The page was deleted through speedy deletion. But i was not quite sure why it is considered promotional. And is there a way i can re edit the content so that it is factual and non promotional? -Fdchien (talk) 08:35, 9 February 2012 (UTC)

one million moms

The cached article seems fine and the group is extremely newsworthy, especially at the moment due to their campaign against Ellen Degeneres. It was speedily deleted because too many people were supposedly vandalising it, which hardly seems like a reason to speedily delete such a newsworthy group. -209.128.29.254 (talk) 15:26, 10 February 2012 (UTC)

You mean One Million Moms? That wasn't deleted because it was being vandalized, it was deleted because it was a shameless advertisement thinly disguised as an article. --Orange Mike | Talk 15:34, 10 February 2012 (UTC)

... for an organization that is actually merely a branch of yet another organization with the same goals and methods, and therefore requries no separate article of its own. (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 17:19, 10 February 2012 (UTC)
There is apparently a mistaken belief in some circles that an advertisement for anything other than a commercial product is not "really" an advertisement; and that spamming Wikipedia (or anybody else) is "not really spamming" because the spam isn't selling a product or service. We make no such distinction here, nor do most folks when their website is abused with promotional vandalism. --Orange Mike | Talk 17:31, 10 February 2012 (UTC)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dumptruck_(band)

The band is notable. It released six albums (all favorably reviewed on AllMusic), had a number of hit singles on the US College radio and Alternative charts in the 1980's and was involved in a seven-year lawsuit with its label that was profiled in (to name two outlets) The Los Angeles Times and the Chicago Tribune. There was no discussion before the deltion and the guy who deleted it never responded to my contact -Swarles Barkley (talk) 03:35, 7 February 2012 (UTC)

Not done The page only read "Dumptruck, an influential indie band known for their work in the 1980s, was fronted by Seth Tiven and Kirk Swan. Often compared to The Replacements and other early indie bands who never gained a mass audience, but inspired other musicians." Stuff like that is regularily deleted without discussion (CSD#A7) and isn't restorable. The article you have in mind still needs to be written. --Tikiwont (talk) 14:30, 7 February 2012 (UTC)

The problem being, of course, that one can't write any article if the page has been deleted and the high panjandrums refuse to restore it. This topic is moot since someone more sensible than you reopened the page, so I could write a biography. But thank you for documenting a fine example of circular reasoning. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Swarles Barkley (talkcontribs) 20:01, 14 February 2012 (UTC)

Mawashi Protective Clothing

This informative page on the company Mawashi Protective Clothing Inc. was deleted because it was too promotional. Since this article is useful for the public to understand the work of the company in the fields of personal protection to reduce blunt trauma and heat stress injuries for professionals. This article can easily be edited to make it less promotional, and that will be done upon undeletion. Thank you for your consideration. -Shareitnow (talk) 17:02, 14 February 2012 (UTC)

This is not my page, but I do not understand why this page was deleted. The Morgul-Bismark (spelled wrong in the original article, as Bismarck) is a bike racing circuit in Boulder County, Colorado that has been called the Morgul-Bismark for over 30 years - and there are still organized races held on this circuit using the name Morgul-Bismark. File:Cut-Off-map.JPG

This was apparently an automated deletion. I own the photo of the map (which was taken off of a computer screen in 1988) and wish to release it to the general public so that it can be used again on the Lackawanna Cut-Off page. I attempted to prevent deletion of the photo-map a few weeks ago, but I, unfortunately was unsuccessful. I don't believe that this is a controversial situation. Many thanks for your understandingWallyFromColumbia (talk) 17:01, 11 February 2012 (UTC) -WallyFromColumbia (talk) 17:01, 11 February 2012 (UTC)

What attempt did you make to prevent deletion of the photo? I am having trouble figuring out what exactly happened. Arbitrarily0 (talk) 02:46, 15 February 2012 (UTC)
The problem here was that it was a photo taken off a computer screen. Nothing was stated about the copyright of what was on the screen, so a probably infringement. Unless WallyFromColumbia can show that the computer screen content was own work. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 11:52, 18 February 2012 (UTC)

Windfall (2010 film)

I had this article in my browser from some days ago and when I clicked refresh, it now appears to have been wiped out under G5. While I'm sure G5 has its valid uses and that particular user may have been some kind of berserker creating all sorts of havoc, must a perfectly valid topic for a documentary article be wiped out because of that? The article was a bit opinionated, but that easily could have been separated into a "reception" section giving weight to various opinions. If the article as it stood needs work, with its only sin being bad parentage, then maybe WP:ARS could help? These could be a model for the article. -4.254.87.242 (talk) 05:43, 15 February 2012 (UTC)

  •   Not done Individual offices, such as Registrar's, Student Affairs, etc, are not inherently notable in themselves. If there is some form of notability, then that information belongs in the actual university article. Mission statements, goals, etc do not belong. Blogspot is not typically a valid resource for many reasons: primarily because it is not a third party source. (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 10:09, 17 February 2012 (UTC)
