I have spent a couple days developing this portal, and think it has many (but not all) the qualifications to be featured. Any constructive comments are appreciated. Kakofonous (talk) 17:35, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed that your "Selected ..." boxes are hard-links, meaning that someone will have to manually change the content as time passes, leading to update problems in future. There are two ways around this: timed and random article selection, examples of which you can currently (3 March 2008) see at Portal:Linguistics and Portal:Peer review, respectively. Other than that the portal looks nice. --Msanford (talk) 16:02, 3 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I used the {{CURRENTMONTHNAME}} and {{CURRENTYEAR}} variables for selected content (see for example Portal:Percussion/Selected article)—isn't that timed selection? --Kakofonous (talk) 23:32, 3 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I should have looked deeper in your code. I only saw {{Portal:Percussion/Selected article}} but didn't think to look at that page's content directly. You're quite right, and have a very sophisticated archive to boot! I would say that the lack of comments over the weeks is due to the portal being quite good. (Let this be a lesson to me to check everything). --Msanford (talk) 00:11, 4 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
