Hi there. I'm Kakofonous; my name is taken from a character in the mildly amusing novel The Phantom Tollbooth named Kakofonous A. Dischord. In real life, I may be cacophonous on occasion, but not nearly as much as this moniker suggests. Those that have listened to my drumming may argue otherwise, though I do try to balance out the volume with some degree of musicality. In addition to these percussive endeavours, I listen to many varieties of music voraciously, including Fanfare Ciocărlia, Manu Chao, Gang Starr, and Paris Combo.
On this here wiki I am what's known as a sysop or administrator, a designation that means I am able to restrict the abilities of some subsets of users to edit certain pages, block users from editing pages, and delete pages. These capabilities were handed over to me on 11 May 2008, per the successful completion of my request for adminship. I am rather less active, but still keep accounts (using the wonderful unified login extension), on other MediaWiki-based websites maintained by the Wikimedia Foundation.
