Wikipedia:Merchandise giveaways/Nominations/Archive 3

Why is this user awesome?
Dr. Blofeld has always been a hard-working contributor to the encyclopedia. He has made 443,176 edits since 14 June 2006, and is an outstanding content contributor. He has 1000 DYKs— more than any other editor. With a mountain of GAs (74), along with a load of FAs, I can't see anything wrong with this user. Blofeld has made 91997 articles, almost triple the amount of any other non-bot editor, and more than any account.

More DYKs than anybody. Great articles. A helpful and calming presence. It is a far far better place because of his presence; and a diminished one because of his absence. 7&6=thirteen () 21:50, 18 November 2012 (UTC)

Not an admin. Editing for a long time. He has 73,000+ edits. He handles disputes very well, that is a big plus point. Almost every day he gets requests from others for help for suggestions (see his talk page, link above). He is not an admin, but, he is as popular as an admin. I can see he has already posted in this Merchandise giveaways/Nominations too.

Antanana (Ukrainian Wikipedia admin)

Nominated by: Tito Dutta (talk) 03:35, 20 November 2012 (UTC)

Why is this user awesome?

He is a Ukrainian Wikipedia admin. I do not know Ukrainian language or can not even read its alphabet. I have talked with him few times (generally requesting articles in Wikipedia Ukrainian). Firstly, I requested in a Ukrainian admin's talk page, did not get any reply. From there Antanana picked the request and helped me to get that article in Ukrainian Wikipedia. He is a perfectionist by nature. I asked to create an article on Nagarik, he told he wants to watch the film before writing on it. A Ukrainian is watching a Bengali film just to write a requested article, I could not believe that. I have seen (though I can not understand anything in his talk page) he is very helpful, polite to all users.
Add: Antanana is "she", Sorry for the confusion! I did not know! Details --Tito Dutta (talk) 10:33, 20 November 2012 (UTC)

Expanding upon the them of unheralded anti-spam workers (see Mean as custard above), this is really a co-nomination for two of the most active editors at WikiProject Spam: Hu12 (talk · contribs) and MER-C (talk · contribs). Merely looking at the edit history of the project talk page (edit stats) and the local MediaWiki spam blacklist (edit stats) shows that without these two editors toiling away in a relatively unnoticed job, we would be inundated with affiliate spam and other junk. Carptrash has uploaded hundreds (if not thousands) of his own pictures. He is the go to man on architectural sculpture, and has contributed vastly on the subject. A tireless editor. And goes out of his way to help and befriend newbies (I was a beneficiary). Why is this user awesome?

(I was only nominating those who had usernames which appeared to be their names (since the shirts have to be sent to "Real Life People" : )

But now that he's here...

There simply isn't enough space on this page to describe all the great good that User:Hiding has done to contribute to the project.

He started or significantly contributed to many of the policies that we all very much take for granted as "solid" policy.

He is a guiding force in the comics project, and was the main admin helping out there before many of the rest of us were admins. And on that subject, it's at the very least partly due to his guidance that many admins are admins. (He helped me, and subsequently co-nominated me, for instance.)

He is a prolific content contributor, and is who I liked to go to when I have a referencing question.

And even with all of this, he is good natured and a pleasure to collaborate with.

For these and many many other reasons, I think that Hiding is an incredibly awesome Wikipedian : ) - jc37 22:11, 20 November 2012 (UTC)

More easily referred to a "Q", Qwyrxian is not afraid to get involved in awkward disputes relating to a wide range of articles, from a certain problematic group of islands through to weird naming issues for schools in Sri Lanka and on to (top marks from me!) numerous caste-related articles. They are around almost daily, they pay attention to what others say in often heated situations, and their responses are invariably both considered and polite. Much of their work is in response to new contributors who are trying to run before they can walk and who often seem not to have English as their first language: Q's approach generally works pretty well. - Sitush (talk) 11:42, 23 November 2012 (UTC)

On a side note the community member who submitted the nomination was concerned that it would not be seen as important because they had less then 100 edits. I'm making this comment here because I wanted to point out, if the user or others are watching, that if anything that may make it more important. Users who are awesome for new users are incredibly valued. Writers, mentors, trainers, copyeditors and more, I'd love to see nominations from all corners of the wiki. WLU, with a few other brave souls, keeps his eye on quackery and fringe theories, the wild border-land between ga-ga and reason. He knows his stuff and is willing to do the reading when he doesn't. He's (almost) always patient and thoughtful in his dealings with even the most one-eyed obsessives if there's the remotest possibility they're well-meaning (while never signing up to a suicide pact). Boundary riders like him, gentle, respectful and persuasive, make me so proud to be a part of this project.

I only recently started interacting with GC on the various book and publishing related AfDs in the last few months, but that has been long enough to see that he obviously works very hard. He's also very knowledgeable about the literary world and has helped save countless articles from deletion because of this. He also has 17,782 and has created over 200 articles, so he's a good example of a very hard working Wikipedian! I don't mean to spam the board with multiple entries, but GC is an editor that deserves to be rewarded!Tokyogirl79 (talk) 17:35, 8 December 2012 (UTC)

Merlissimo is an active editor on several wikis, one of those multilingual people who hold the project together, and one of the ways he does this is by writing code and running Bots. Specifically I came across him when he took a one paragraph design and went off and coded the death anomalies report, he launched the death anomalies on DE wiki and has done most of the work to feed in anomalies from 80 language versions. Nominated by: SatuSuro 04:24, 4 January 2013 (UTC) Why is this user awesome? At the Wikipedia birthday in Fremantle the other year I put aside a T-shirt for this tireless user, and never got the t-shirt to him - now is the opportunity for him to get a t-shirt from where it counts! Support

  • Support - tireless venturer into articles about places and stations in the wild back blocks of Australia - an area where few others have ever edited or contributed anything - he is a proud example of where wikipedia can tread... and make a difference SatuSuro 04:24, 4 January 2013 (UTC)
