Not able to edit my post at WP:ANI

edit

Hello. I hope thhs is the correct place for this question. I originally filed a report at the WP:ANI noticeboard regarding an editor who was engaging in edit waring and other violations of policies (here [[1]]. The report received little attention, and l was made aware of something the user had done, that in my opinion made his violations more problematic and complicated the situation. I was not exactly sure what the procedure should be, but I filed a new WP:ANI report with a new title reflecting the new situation (and there described everything that had happened), here [[2]].

The issue now is that it seems Wikipedia is not allowing be to edit the new report (thd edit option no longer appears for me on ang device). I am still able to edit the first report and other things. Do you know why this might be? Is filing two reports so close together against policy. Have I violated something. If so what can I do (the site is not allowing me to delete or in any way modify the second report).

Any help is appreciated. Thank you. Skllagyook (talk) 00:49, 13 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Skllagyook: You did an incomplete Wikilink, which is the likely cause of the missing edit link. I fixed the wikilink and now the edit button is there. RudolfRed (talk) 01:01, 13 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@RudolfRed: Thank you very much. I'll know not to do that. Skllagyook (talk) 01:14, 13 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

How to make my wikipedia page?

edit

I want to know if I can create my own business page on wikipedia.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Brandforce360 (talkcontribs)

@Brandforce360: Please be aware that creating a new article (not just page) is one of the hardest tasks one can start on Wikipedia, and there are good reasons not to want one. That being said, you should closely review WP:YFA, which should guide you along the way. Victor Schmidt (talk) 08:36, 13 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Brandforce360: Please review conflict of interest and paid editing. If your username is that of your business, you will need to change it to something more individualistic; usernames may not be that of a business. You may just abandon your current account and create a new one.
Be advised that Wikipedia is not a place for businesses to tell the world about themselves. A Wikipedia article summarizes what independent reliable sources with significant coverage(not press releases, staff interviews, the company website, announcements of routine business activities, or other brief mentions) have chosen on their own to say about the business, showing how it meets the special Wikipedia definition of a notable business. Wikipedia is not interested in what a business wants to say about itself, only in what others choose to say about it. 331dot (talk) 08:42, 13 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Adding information on former Nazi scientists

edit

Why is adding information on Nazi scientists classified as 'vandalism' or 'not constructive'? They are literally documented members of the Nazi Party. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.184.180.139 (talkcontribs) 15:40, 13 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think these changes constitute vandalism, but they were properly reverted because you did not provide a reliable source. MB 16:36, 13 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
A member of the party was not required to be a Nazi and you did not provide a reliable source. --Serols (talk) 17:00, 13 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
A member of what party? The NSDAP? Wouldn't members of that party have been Nazis by definition? JIP | Talk 18:37, 13 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
If they were only members in the period where the party had absolute power then it may have been for benefits or to avoid discrimination, not for political views. PrimeHunter (talk) 18:45, 13 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
So, like this revert is not good. The OP merely added information already well-sourced in the article, as well as being named and sourced at Operation Paperclip. Per WP:LEAD, adding information to the lead of the article that summarizes the important points of the body is not only allowed, it's expected. The revert rationale, that the information wasn't cited, is spurious. While I agree that the OP's other two edits (which involved the rather un-nuanced additions of the attributive "Nazi" to the lead) weren't great, that one didn't need to be reverted. --Jayron32 11:58, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Lumens.com Article

edit

Hello,

Can you give me an update on the Lumens.com article I submitted in March?

Thank you, Michael Herrera — Preceding unsigned comment added by MH42869 (talkcontribs) 17:23, 13 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@MH42869: Draft:Lumens_(lighting_company) is still waiting to be reviewed. There is a large number of drafts to review, and few reviewers, so it can take quite some time. You just need to be patient. You can continue to work on expanding the draft while you wait for review. RudolfRed (talk) 17:29, 13 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Could I get some advice on this page

edit

Hi there! :) I was wondering if I could get some feedback on this article here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Infinitewolfgamer Thank you so much! It's my first WIKI page so any advice would be helpful

You need rewrite it so it is not promotional and so that it shows the subject is notable. You can discuss on the deletion nomination page. RudolfRed (talk) 18:35, 13 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Varieties of English in references

edit

I've recently created the MV Missourian (1921) article, which I've nominated for GA status. One slight "problem" is that sources used are in American, Australian, and British English. Is there any way to correctly show this by use of the |language= parameter? The article itself is written in British English. Mjroots (talk) 20:08, 13 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Mjroots: Maybe you could explain why it is a problem? Did you get GA feedback saying it is not ok? RudolfRed (talk) 20:13, 13 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@RudolfRed: - no, I'm trying to head off that one before it happens. The title of the book source has the word "color" in it, whereas the Br.Eng spelling would be "colour". I don't want to tag the word with [sic] as it's not "wrong" or misspelled for the variant of English that the book is written in. Mjroots (talk) 20:20, 13 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I don't see why it should be a problem. I've never seen a book where the author spelt out the different varieties of English used in their sources. DuncanHill (talk) 20:31, 13 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
At en.wiki, |language=en is suppressed (because this is, after all, the English Wikipedia). You can, if you desire write:
{{cite book |title=Australian English |language=en-AU}}Australian English.
{{cite book |title=British English |language=en-GB}}British English.
{{cite book |title=American English |language=en-US}}American English.
As you can see, the language annotation is suppressed.

Thanks, Trappist the monk. That answers the question. Mjroots (talk) 20:43, 13 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
RudolfRed, that is a fascinating article. You let that ship's diverse and idiosyncratic history speak for itself. Well done. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 05:00, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Cullen328: I created the article! Mjroots (talk) 05:13, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Mjroots, I humbly apologize for copying and pasting the wrong username. My only defense is that I was eating a piece of butterscotch apple pie at that time, so was a bit distracted. You deserve the credit. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 05:21, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Cullen328 Accepted. It's easily done, see my recent faux pas at WT:SHIPS#Miramar lookup please. Mjroots (talk) 05:25, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
It's worth noting this isn't something that should ever be an issue at GAN, but this is nice to know it's possible. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 08:22, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
