Eleanor Tomlinson (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Your wiki page on Eleanor Tomlinson actress aged 21 contains false information. Eleanor is not realated to singer Louis Tomlinson of boy band One Direction. Although it is said she is, I hope you will read this and change the information as it is false.

Thankyou and kind regards,

Olivia Catherine X — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.111.223.71 (talk) 00:49, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I've removed it, since it cites no source. It is clearly wrong, since Eleanor Tomlinson's father is named Malcolm Tomlinson, and Louis Tomlinson's father is a Mark Tomlinson. AndyTheGrump (talk) 01:00, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Confusion may come from singer Louis Tomlinson being connected to an Eleanor (his girlfriend).[1] -- Jreferee (talk) 10:08, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

New articles

Is there any section on Wikipedia where I can see a list of the newest articles created? In other words, some page that says: "The following new articles were created today: x, y, z, ..." or such. Thanks. Joseph A. Spadaro (talk) 01:12, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Special:NewPages which is accessible through the special pages link in the toolbox in the left column. Rmhermen (talk) 01:20, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Not possible to log in using IE8

edit

It is not possible to log in using IE8, but it works with Google Chrome. It was possible yesterday in the morning, but not in the afternoon and it still does not work. It is not either possible to log in using AWB since it works together with IE. Svensson1 (talk) 06:18, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

What happens when you try? It sounds like a problem at your end. I have IE9 but it works in compatibility mode and I haven't seen other reports of this. See Help:Logging in#Login issues and problems for general help. PrimeHunter (talk) 11:02, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I found what the problem was. It works fine now. (I had by misstake changed the computer's date.) Svensson1 (talk) 19:16, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It is requested you to delete my article published in Hindi.I want to change that article in English for universal readers. Kindly accept my request.

Thanking you,

If you are referring to User:Soeangel1982 then you can delete it yourself. The English Wikipedia already has an article about Kalki Bhagavan, which you are welcome to improve. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 07:10, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

HOME FARM FC

edit

You have Liam Brady listed as a former player of Home Farm FC.

This is incorrect, Liam never played for Home Farm. His schoolboy club was St Kevin's Boys FC, a near neighbour of Home Farm in Dublin.

Liam's brothers Frank and Paddy however, did play for Home Farm.

If this could be corrcted, I would appreciate it,

regards,

Eamon Scott

No source for his playing at Home Farm FC (this would have mentioned Brady playing for Home Farm if he had), but plenty of sources for his playing at Kevin's Boys FC. I made the change.[2] -- Jreferee (talk) 05:37, 31 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Submitted Article

edit

Hi there,

I submitted an article about our business, BullionByPost, about 3-4 weeks ago complete with references and in the correct format. I've just logged into my account however I can't see it there now. Would you have any information on whether it has been reviewed or when it may go live?

Thanks, Adam Pike Head of Marketing & E-Commerce at BullionByPost — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bullionbypost (talkcontribs) 11:31, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Please see Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/BullionByPost This was submitted on 17 October, not 3-4 weeks ago as you claim above. As stated at the top of that article "Review waiting. This may take over 3 weeks."
Please also read Wikipedia:Username policy which explains that Wikipedia does not allow company names to be used as user names. Your account will probably be blocked shortly.

Why is that policy called Biographies of living persons?

edit

Does that mean if someone dies(or have died for some time), we can write on that person more freely than if they were living? Is there any examples of the difference?--朝鲜的轮子 (talk) 14:27, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

We usually extend the policy for a short time after death but see Defamation, usually limited in the U.S. to apply only to the living. Rmhermen (talk) 15:11, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
(ec) Yes, it applies to living and (sometimes) recently dead people. See WP:BLP for more info. RudolfRed (talk) 15:13, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Note however that the verifiability and WP:NPOV policies, and the notability guideline still apply to articles about people long dead, as to all other articles. DES (talk) 15:28, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
So why don't we just apply this policy to all people, no matter living or dead? Is it because it will be too limiting to writing articles?--朝鲜的轮子 (talk) 22:52, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Because living people can be personally harmed, and also because they can sue, we are supposed to take extra care with articles about them and pages that mention them. I think the BLP policy, or those who invoke it, soemtiems goes too far, but it is policy, and IMO it is far better than the situation we had before it was passed (in the wake of the Wikipedia biography controversy). DES (talk) 22:57, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
When a bio subject dies, BLP no more applies, so I'll Be Glad When You're Dead You Rascal You. Jim.henderson (talk) 23:07, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Are there actually any difference? For example, are there any contents that are considered inappropriate by BLP but are appropriate after their subject has died?--朝鲜的轮子 (talk) 06:09, 1 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Adding an image

edit

Hi Wikipedia, I would like to add image of Hussein Chalayan to the profile image of the page of Turkish Cypriots. How do I do that? So it will be along with images of Tracey Emin etc... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Presschalayan (talkcontribs) 15:20, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • If you want to upload an image from your computer for use in an article, you must determine the proper license of the image (or whether it is in the public domain). If you know the image is public domain or copyrighted but under a suitable free-license, upload it to the Wikimedia Commons instead of here, so that all projects have access to the image (sign up). If you are unsure of the licensing status, see the file upload wizard for more information. Please also read Wikipedia's image use policy.
  • If you want to add an image that has already been uploaded to Wikipedia or Wikimedia Commons, add [[File:File name.jpg|thumb|Caption text]] to the area of the article where you want the image to appear – replacing File name.jpg with the actual file name of the image, and Caption text with a short description of the image. See our picture tutorial for more information. I hope this helps.--ukexpat (talk) 15:23, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I am concerned that whereas the previous File:Famous Turkish Cypriot people.png stated that it was a derivative work, and credited the original works on which it was based, your new File:Famous turkish cypriots.jpg apparently has no such declaration or attribution. I fear, therefore, that it may be a copyright violation and therefore liable to deletion. - David Biddulph (talk) 18:05, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,

I created the above article a few weeks ago. Could someone please review it for me when they have time.

Many thanks,

samuel h silberkrus

The information about samuel silberkraus is in accurate and I wish to have it corrected. He had four children and his wife georgette was born in Dec 1916. I'm his daughter — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.193.235.130 (talk) 16:49, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Is this about Samuel Silberkraus? If so, another editor has already made the change. DES (talk) 17:16, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The editor who made the change had forgotten that the dates for the | spouse parameter in {{Infobox person}} are dates for marriage, not birth & death. I have reverted that part of the change. - David Biddulph (talk) 17:26, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks David. I'll tell you it never even occurred to me this might be the range of the marriage. I've posted about this at Template talk:Infobox person#Spouse parameter mimics and is easily confused with (DOB-DOD)--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 22:50, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Image at Bonilla de la Sierra

edit

The article Bonilla de la Sierra has an image that, I think, is not appropriate for an Encyclopedia. Travelogue, Yes. Would I be within MoS guidelines to remove it? ```Buster Seven Talk 17:42, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Which image? I see two, both of buildings probably within the town. --NeilN talk to me 18:15, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The one with the photographers boyfriend (?) leaning up against the building. ```Buster Seven Talk 18:19, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Heh, missed that. If the man wasn't there I would say keep the pic but since it's obviously a posed photo, I wouldn't complain if you removed it. --NeilN talk to me 18:23, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks...glad you felt the humor in my reply. ```Buster Seven Talk 18:26, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Regarding that photo, I think removing it would fall under the guideline "Contributors should be judicious in deciding which images are the most suitable for the subject matter in an article." It is, after all, not a particularly good example of the church.  drewmunn  talk  18:32, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I have removed it. TY ```Buster Seven Talk 18:35, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
My main issue with the page is it's placeholder flag/crest. I don't usually deal with City infoboxes, but I very much doubt they should be there. If they're removed, the section for them disappears, and the infobox looks much better.  drewmunn  talk  18:20, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I have removed the placeholders as their use is now deprecated (see WP:PLACEHOLDER). In any event, one image in such a short article is sufficient.--ukexpat (talk) 18:36, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Well I was about to when Buster7 beat me to it.--ukexpat (talk) 18:40, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

ImaCor

edit

Hi I have a page called ImaCor which has 9 references. The error message indicates that the reflist is missing but it is not. Can you help me with this? Samcgarrigle (talk) 18:03, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Note I have CSD'd that page for various copyright infringements. It's also pretty much the definition of a spam article. --NeilN talk to me 18:13, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) You had left a reference open, so the content of the page from there on was not recognised, including the reflist. Although I fixed the issue, the page itself is nominated for deletion, and from a glance at the content, is likely to be deleted soon. May I suggest you take this opportunity to look at WP:CITING and Template:Cite web to get a better idea on how to lay out your citations to improve their accuracy.  drewmunn  talk  18:15, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I also replied at the Teahouse, but I used reflinks on it, which did the trick. I am not sure what was wrong, but it is now fixed. Thanks, Matty.007 18:21, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I made a small start on cleaning up the article, making it more encyclopedic and less promotional. But it's got a long way to go, and is likely to be deleted anyway. Maproom (talk) 18:41, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

How I can report that page to protect it from unrecognized users? --Spacejam2 (talk) 18:10, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Go to WP:RfP and request it is semi-proected. This will stop anonymous editors, or those who are not yet autoconfirmed, from altering the content. You'll have to provide a reason though, and a couple of diffs from the page history may help as evidence.  drewmunn  talk  18:15, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Can someone review my article and how can I upload a photo of the person in the article

Maximino Devan Perez (The Youngest Digital Performer)

Maximino D. Perez a.k.a. Devan Ibiza(born December 20, 1998) is a young Hispanic digital performer who has mastered the futuristic technology known as the "Emulator". He was born in the Bronx, New York.

Life and Career

Devan Ibiza was born Maximino D. Perez, the son of Maximino Perez, Jr. and Jessica Delvalle. He also has two sisters. Born to the mix of the driving rhythms of Latin music and hip hop floating in through the open windows of summertime in the boogie down Bronx, by the age of 3, Maximino Devan Perez was finding his way around his Dad’s recording studio and creating “crazy baby beats”! By 6, he had programmed his first song. His Dad, Mighty Max, the multi-talented New York Producer, Songwriter and Audio Engineer provided Devan with the tools and guidance necessary to pursue his passion and future aspirations. As Devan’s music abilities were the rise, Devan had to have a name that embodied where his talent could take him and at 6, he was reborn Devan Ibiza, named for the Latin DJ mecca, the Spanish Island of Ibiza. The rarest gem of all islands, it is here where DJ’s provide non-stop 24 hour a day rhythms driving the world’s party. This is the name...this is the goal...and everyday, Devan challenges himself to make the party happen!

Credited as the “Youngest Digital DJ”, Devan began his DJ career at 11 performing at venues usually reserved for those with years more experience, including, game performances as the featured guest DJ at Madison Square Garden for the New York Knicks and again for the New York Liberty team. In 2011, he was the DJ for the Kidz Bop ‘Kidz Star USA Talent Search’ to name a few of the highlights. Always motivated to give back any way he could, Devan was the youngest DJ ever to take part in the yearly Make-A-Wish Foundation Gala. Devan attended and performed at the 2012 Latin Mix Awards show and was the youngest DJ for the 2012 INTEL iSEF Conferences which is the world’s largest international pre-college science competition that annually provides a forum for more than 1,500 high school students from over 70 countries, regions, and territories to showcase their independent research. In 2013, Devan Ibiza was again their guest DJ in San Franciso and again later that year in Arizona. Now at the age of 14, Devan has become a master of balance as well, putting school and education first and every other waking minute towards his music building the groundwork for a long and rewarding career.

As Devan has progressed in his mastery of technology, another opportunity presented itself through his Dad. Devan's Dad, Max, was experimenting with and promoting the use of Emulator Pro equipment for a number of his clients and had the equipment in his home studio between gigs. Undaunted, Devan began experimenting with the equipment as well and due to his success at such a young age, Devan came to the attention of SmithsonMartin, Inc. creators of the Emulator Pro. The company saw the marketing brilliance of representing the future of DJ’ing not only via innovative software programs controlled by multi-touch screens, but also by having a young talent take the equipment into venues where it would receive great exposure to young people. Devan was selected by SmithsonMartin to help pioneer the use of this technology in his mixes and DJ’ing gigs.

Devan is currently preparing to tour with the Emulator Pro where crowds will not only be able to hear and dance to Devan’s creative mixes, but they will also be able to see Devan work the technology on a huge transparent screen bringing the 3rd dimension to his Parties. Devan Ibiza is lighting the way for the Digital Performances of the future. In the world of DJ’s, Devan Ibiza, a name to remember...once you’ve heard him, you won’t forget the Party!

Articles for Creation would be a better place for this. Also, you can only upload images after you have been autoconfirmed, which requires a minimum number of edits (10), and a minimum of 4 days to have passed since account creation. Then, you may use the upload form to upload an image. However, you must make sure the image is correctly licensed. Looking through the content of your article, however, I doubt it will pass the notability checks and is unlikely to become a live article.  drewmunn  talk  18:25, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
It also has a great deal of promotional language that makes it inappropriate anyway.— Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 21:52, 1 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

the Article Feedback page here indicates I made a Feedback comment, but I did not. How does this page work that someone else can use my user name? Bahooka (talk) 20:10, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

According to your contributions https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Log/Bahooka you (or somebody logged in as you) made the edit at 07:04 on 19 October. You made an edit about an hour before perhaps somebody else used your computer? MilborneOne (talk) 21:06, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for looking into that. I generally stay logged in, but it looks like I may need to discontinue that. While you are looking at edits, can you determine why the information on my edits at ANI were removed on 10/25 at 17:25 and 20:53? The edit looks like it is still there according to my contribution history, but the posting information has been struck through with no diffs available. Thanks, Bahooka (talk) 21:13, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
A lot of consecutive edits were oversighted, probably because one or a few of them added something that had to be hidden from public view. If oversighting is performed at a later time then all subsequent page revisions containing the offending material also have to be oversighted even if those editors did nothing wrong. PrimeHunter (talk) 22:29, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. As my actual edit remained at ANI, that explanation seems to make sense. Consider this resolved. Bahooka (talk) 22:32, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
