Original – This triple picture of Cardinal Richelieu was painted by Philippe de Champaigne in Paris, probably in 1642. It was then sent to the sculptor Francesco Mochi in Rome for a model of a bust he was making. There is an inscription above the head on the right that reads "this is the better one".
