Typo in title

You might be interested in the "moving pages" feature. See WP:MM--all you have to do is click on the word "move" at the top of the article that needs moved. NickelShoe (Talk) 05:05, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

The claim that the subject is a "prominent French urban theorist" is not supported. Per WP:BIO, The article must meet the criterion "The person has been the primary subject of multiple non-trivial published works whose source is independent of the person." Stub sorting

Properly categorizing stubs is important to the Wikipedia community because it helps various WikiProjects to identify articles that need expansion.

Henry Bibb

I originally attached the ref link to the preceding line because I thought it had been separated accidentally: I have never seen a "footnote number" type of reference standing alone. I still think that this format is so unusual that most readers will think it just looks wrong. However, I see your point: where should a "section reference" (as opposed to a "sentence reference") be placed?

One possibility would be a short sentence at the top of the section with the footnote there. Another would be to remove the ref tags and move the reference into the "references" section as a reference for the entire article. If you really want to have it at the end of the section and by itself, I reccomend a one-word sentence consisting of the word "See." As an anchor for the footnote.

Speedy tagging

Please don't add speedy tags that don't fit speedy criteria (like this: [1]). It seriously backlogs the WP:CSD. I've been removing them as I see them, but it would help if you would go back and WP:PROD or propose merge on them all. Cheers Dina 16:41, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

Did you create all of these articles? Technically you could db-author them, but since many of them seem to have been created back in November, you're probably not the "author" anymore. *sigh*. God, there's tons of them. Why not just leave them alone? Dina 16:44, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

re: [2], you redirect them by clearing the article and writing #REDIRECT and then the name of the album in brackets. FYI, when an admin removes a speedy tag with the edit summary "not a criteria for speedy deletion" please don't revert them. About the double redirects: I think I fixed most of them (I fixed about 8, and that album was the only one with an issue that I saw.) Here's the issue so you know in the future: The title of the album in question is Scream if You Wanna Go Faster. Someone, quite appropriately, made a redirect for the slightly different caps Scream If You Wanna Go Faster (see [3]. You accidentally redirected the songs from the album to that "bad title" which means you created a "double redirect" -- ie. a redirect that just sends you to another redirect. The way to recognize them is when you click the link you have to click another link to go to the article. The only way to fix them is to go to the original article that you redirected and fix the redirect article name (as I did here. Redirects can be tricky to find and edit. They way to do it is to click on a link for the original article. At the top of the article you are redirected to it will say "redirected from "article name" -- click on that link (article name) and you will be back at the redirect page and can edit it like any other article. Songs and Albums

Hi,

While every song need not have its own article, once one has been written, there is no harm in simply redirecting the title back to the album, for the sake of search convenience. I removed the tags in my capacity as an administrator, because redirection is more appropriate. I didn't perform the redirection myself, however, because I have no knowledge of what Spice Girls' songs might deserve independent articles. If you feel the songs merit redirection to their albums, please do so -- but speedy deletion remains inappropriate. Best wishes, Xoloz 18:55, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

WP:LGBT to do list

Hey, Zig! Man - you're hard at work on those items, aren't you!?!? Thanks for all the work! FYI, there's no need to update the to do list when you finish cleanup on an article. SatyrBot goes through and creates that list every night. It's looking for cleanup tags on articles, so if you remove the {{expand}} or {{wikify}} or whatever from the article, it will be removed from the list that night. Similarly, if you want to add an article to the list, simply tag it with the appropriate cleanup tag and it will show up on the list that night. Hi, Zig! I didn't do anything to the list - as I said, it's maintained by a bot which updates it nightly. So for all the articles you mentioned, they have the LGBT Project banner, but they don't have any particular cleanup tag. Middle Age: A Romance

It appears in the search results when you specifically search for "Middle Age: A Romance." Other than that, you can add it to the Middle Ages disambig page here. Is that what you were referring to? María (habla conmigo) 02:40, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

It does appear for me, but I think it's a problem as simple as colon placement; wiki searches are highly case sensitive. You're putting a space after "Age"; try it just as "Middle Age: A Romance" and you get the article itself. Search for just "Middle Age A Romance" and you get these results. You could always do a redirect with a space after the colon if you think enough people would attempt to search for it that way? María (habla conmigo) 02:56, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

I don't believe the page needs to be moved (which would be how you change the article's name). If it truly bothers you, all you need to do is create a re-direct in the small chance that someone would search for it with a space before the colon. After all, the correct punctuation is to have no space between "Age" and the colon and that is how Amazon, Alibris, and Harper Collins, among others, have it listed. No problem. What's important is that the novel is readily findable, and it's correct of you to look into these things. For future reference, to move a page (because of typo or whatever) all you need to do is click the "Move" tab in between "History" and "Watch." I went ahead and added a link to the novel at the Middle Age dab page. You may want to look into adding it to some lists, however, because according to its stats only a few articles link to it. A good place to start is Lists of books. Whenever I create a new article for a novel, I like to add as many links possible to get more attention. María (habla conmigo) 03:31, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

LGBT publications

Jtowns proposed a LGBT publications taskforce a while back, to focus on LGBT newspapers, magazines, stuff like that. Katherine Mansfield

I thought I'd give it a try in creating an author navigation box for Katherine Mansfield. It's extremely basic, and I don't know enough about her or her work to add any particular info beyond what's here. So, take a look: Template:Katherine Mansfield. Beyond this, we can add dates next to the titles or find a better way to line things up. Once it looks good, feel free to add it to the bottom of the articles for her works so people can easily jump from one story to the next. It's easy. I'll add it to Mansfield's article and you can add it to the rest of her articles by using the same code (you can look at the code when you click "edit this page" on her article. Mansfield Works

Not sure why you have a problem with the fuller bibliography that I am working on. It is quite a normal approach to give the actual works them selves rather than the publications, as those are rather more like advertising. Also the Author navigation template is still very much work in progress as it at present only contains the short stories. Pretty much done for the moment - and I don't see it as redundant as it provides a more structured list with publication years that would look far too cluttered on a template. The template is purely for navigation, (which I have added to all the short story articles). If the bibliograpy fills out more than a full blown "Bibliography article" linked to from the main author article might become to best way. My main thinking here is that this is a "major" author who's work is worthy of sophiticated treatment here on wikipedia. Photo requests

Hi! I see you've started adding the reqphoto tag to the articles for Indiana towns -- I agree we need many more photos to make for stronger articles. I'd ask that you please don't add the tag indiscriminately, though. Several articles that you tagged as needing photos (Americus, Ambia, Buck Creek, etc.) are towns for which I've already uploaded snapshots. Thanks,

I believe the tag by itself is intended for articles that have no photographs (or no suitable ones), though of course one can always include as an optional attribute a request for a snap of something specific. I do feel, though, that tagging articles as "photo needed" when they already have a photo is unnecessary. There are plenty of Indiana articles with zero photos that presumably should be addressed first. After all, by that logic practically any WP article could be similarly tagged, since any article -- no matter how many photos it has -- could always have more. :-)

Also, though I do love little Indiana towns and am from one myself, I don't think every one merits a full gallery of pictures. Take Winthrop, for example -- it's a legitimate town on all the maps, but frankly, what you see is practically all there is.

Hi, when adding requests for photographs to Polish towns, you might want to use {{reqphotoin|Poland}} instead of {{reqphoto}}. --Lysy^talk 08:58, 3 July 2007 (UTC)

I think that {{reqphotoin|Poland}} could potentially attract more photographers from Poland than {{reqphoto}} alone. You requested a citation for my statement that the book is propaganda. Have you read the book? I read the whole thing twice. It's propaganda, according to the technical definition on the Propaganda Wikipedia page, "Instead of impartially providing information, propaganda in its most basic sense presents information in order to influence its audience. The most effective propaganda is often completely truthful, but some propaganda presents facts selectively to encourage a particular synthesis..." Let me say that I admire Sinclair and found his book extremely disturbing. I wish I could call it something else to encourage people to read it. But it IS propaganda. He is NOT fair. He has an agenda and he wants his readers to adopt it. The reviewers I cite state as much. Wikipedia requires truth, not partisanship. People unfamiliar with Sinclair deserve an accurate description of his work. Please remove the "citation needed", or supply an alternative term with the same meaning. Thank you. Still doesn't ring a bell... I was involved in an off-Wikipedia project dealing with Midwestern states in 2004, around the time when I first discovered Wikipedia. There were a few things I could contribute to Wikipedia in relation to that project; things I was working on anyway. I guess this note was one of those things, but since it was three years ago, I don't remember any of the details. Hi, Zigzig20s - I left the below for TAnthony - Can I get your opinion, too?

Got a question for you. I just ran across Category:Literature with LGBT characters. I'm wondering if that category wouldn't be better off as a list? My reasoning is threefold:

1. Take a look at Dune (novel). Nowhere in the article do the words "gay", "lesbian", "bisexual" or "homosexual" (etc) appear. I haven't read the full article, but I would expect one of those words in order for the article to be in an LGBT cat.
2. We already have similar lists for this sort of thing - as examples, List of dramatic television series with LGBT characters or List of gay and bisexual people in modern written fiction.
3. A list would allow you to add some details that a cat can't carry - for instance, the name of the character :)

I'm not sure of the rationale here. Is space at such a premium that a 1-line external link must be removed? The article (from Kenyon Review) addresses more than just the 1 book, i.e., issues of life, lesbianism, authorship, etc. What was wrong with leaving it? WikiProject Newsletter n°1

Bonjour and welcome to the first WikiProject France newsletter!! It should become a monthly special of our project, but until the next issue, here are some points to consider for the month:

• In an effort to determine the active members from the inactive, all members are asked to simply sign on my special userpage.
• I have slightly rearranged and updated the Project page, putting all the featured lists in collapsible tables. This unclutteres the page and you only have to see them if you want to. Give your feelings at the talk page.
• I have made a Wikipedia advert for our project, Image:Qxz-ad108.gif, what do you think? Personally I feel the words need improving ...
• There are still map problems at Template:French commune - any help at resolving them would be greatly appreciated.
• What about starting a monthly drive? We currently have no Featured Portals (except for the Basque Portal which really isn't French any way), so how about improving Portal:France??? I don't know what's exactly wrong but the criteria can be seen at Wikipedia:Featured portal criteria.

It doesn't seem like a lot, so I hope we will still have enough problems for nexts months issue. Salut till the next issue, ChrisDHDR (17:22, 10 November 2007 (UTC)).
