Speedy deletion declined: Draft:Rade Basta

Hello SeanTVT, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Draft:Rade Basta, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: A10 does not apply to drafts. You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 18:06, 4 May 2023 (UTC)

Question

Hello I'm actually new here but how do you do things like removing edits that aren't needed? Amber colleen bridges (talk) 18:13, 6 May 2023 (UTC)

@Amber colleen bridges: reversions can be accomplished by using the undo link available when viewing a page's history; there are also several semi-automated tools that can be used instead, although I'd advise waiting until you are more experienced before trying to employ them. Sometimes intervening edits will make this impractical in which case you may always manually revert an edit, explaining your action in an edit summary. If you have further questions, the best place to inquire is probably the WP:TEAHOUSE. 74.73.224.126 (talk) 15:19, 8 May 2023 (UTC)

May 2023

Hi, YesI'mOnFire. Thanks for patrolling new pages. I've declined your deletion request for Draft:Good Glamm Group, a page that you tagged for speedy deletion, because the criterion you used or the reason you gave does not cover this kind of page. Please take a moment to read the new tutorial for patrollers, criteria for speedy deletion, and particularly, the section covering non-criteria. Such pages are best tagged with proposed deletion or proposed deletion for biographies of living persons, or sent to the appropriate deletion discussion. Thanks! 74.73.224.126 (talk) 14:35, 8 May 2023 (UTC)

Speedy tags

Hi, I've noticed that you've been tagging a lot of drafts for speedy deletion recently. Some of your tags have been OK, but others such as [1][2][3] are inappropriate and many are borderline at best. You don't have very much experience on Wikipedia, and I'd encourage you to spend less of your time aggressively policing others' contributions. Inappropriate speedy tags can discourage new users from contributing (see WP:BITE). My personal opinion is that tagging for G11 in draftspace is often a waste of time unless it's truly egregious (e.g. MegaCorp Inc. is the leading provider of high quality widgets at affordable prices! Click here to buy our products now!). One of the functions of draftspace is to keep crud in a place where readers cannot see it. Spicy (talk) 16:13, 9 May 2023 (UTC)

I agree with you. Many times I tag those drafts you mentioned without even looking through carefully. Hopefully in the future I won't make those mistakes again.
The reason for me policing new drafts aggresively, well, as many users are on the job in fighting vandalisms, I feel like there's no time for me to revert vandalisms before other users did :( 🔥YesI'mOnFire🔥(ContainThisEmber?) 09:50, 10 May 2023 (UTC)
Hi @Spicy
I have just submitted a complaint/request on this user's talk page to have my Draft reinstated as I believe @YesI'mOnFire did not properly tag this draft with a G11 speedy deletion request, as you stated above.
This was my first article and I do not have a lot of time to learn the nuances of Wikipedia, but I was genuinely trying my best and taking every comment to heart. I unfortunately did not save a personal copy of this draft so I'm a little bit taken a back right now....
Is there anything I can do besides talk to this user? Because I would really like to correct this draft and have it published as quickly as possible, as it is a draft about a quite notable figure within the fitness industry. Thanks in advance! Ijohn9n9 (talk) 01:24, 14 May 2023 (UTC)
@Ijohn9n9 You can now check your talk page for further instructions from Jimfbleak. 🔥YesI'mOnFire🔥(ContainThisEmber?) 10:29, 15 May 2023 (UTC)

Wrongful deletion of draft that is in the process of being edited...

Hi, I'm following up along with the last critique you were given about deleting pages too hastily.

The page Draft:Ben Patrick was wrongfully deleted, as this was my first article. This article had been submitted for review twice and the last comment I was given directed me to the tea house (which I was unaware existed). It also was explicitly commented that: "... IF this draft is resubmitted without being reworked, [THEN] it MAY be nominated for deletion."

I listened to this warning and was in the process of seeking help for edits, but then you deleted this draft because you thought it "seemed" promotional, despite the fact that you say: "MANY times I tag those drafts you mention WITHOUT even looking through CAREFULLY. Hopefully in the future I won't make those mistakes again."

How come instead of deleting the page, you didn't just give me some objective and constructive critiques for which parts of the article you had an issue with?

I am extremely frustrated right now, if that is not obvious, as you are new here and apparently haphazardly submitting articles for speedy deletion at inappropriate times. My request is simple, please either reinstate the draft or send me a copy of it, so I can continue working on it, as I was doing before. Ijohn9n9 (talk) 01:17, 14 May 2023 (UTC)

@Ijohn9n9 You tell this to me too late. The draft you're talking about has been deleted since 8th of May 2023. Plus, my job is to only notified deleting administrators, if my nomination for speedy deletion of Draft:Ben Patrick was wrong, a deleting administrator would decline it.
Unfortunately, administrator Jimfbleak has deleted it. If you want to recover your draft, tell this to him.
@Jimfbleak, can you restore the draft so he can improve it? 🔥YesI'mOnFire🔥(ContainThisEmber?) 13:23, 14 May 2023 (UTC)
YesI'mOnFire, thanks for ping. Ijohn9n9, I see that you have attempted to declare a COI, but have used the wrong template. Could you please clarify whether you have a financial relationship with him (employed by him, or otherwise paid to write for him) or a non-financial relationship (such as you are him, or a friend or relative). Ping me if you reply here, or post on my talk page. No rush, I won't be editing again until tomorrow now. Once you've done that, I'll see what's the best way forward Jimfbleak - talk to me? 16:04, 14 May 2023 (UTC)

Change of infobox

May I know why the change of the infobox was reverted? It was changed because the new one contained more accurate and concrete information about a public figure.

Move to draft space

Recently you moved the page User:PersonalityAI to User:Ludovic Blecher. However, the account "Ludovic Blecher" does not exist; and this content is not appropriate for a userpage anyway. This should have gone to the draft article space, so I have moved it to Draft:Ludovic Blecher. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 14:46, 25 July 2023 (UTC)

I'am writing the article about Ludovic Blecher on his behalf, its is my first time editing and publishing articles on wikipedia so I am sorry for any inconveniance PersonalityAI (talk) 14:48, 25 July 2023 (UTC)
It's my fault tbh, I forgot to put it in Draft.
Plus, you need to declare COI as you are writing this draft 'on his behalf'. 🔥YesI'mOnFire🔥(ContainThisEmber?) 14:51, 25 July 2023 (UTC)
F, guess I have made a mistake then, I intended to draft it but probably forgot to change the title above to Draft.
Sorry for any inconvenience @Drm310 🔥YesI'mOnFire🔥(ContainThisEmber?) 14:49, 25 July 2023 (UTC)
@YesI'mOnFire: No worries, all is fixed now.
@PersonalityAI: As YesI'mOnFire noted, if you're writing on Ludovic Blecher's behalf, then you have a conflict of interest. Please ensure that you read and understand Wikipedia's conflict of interest guide. Also, is he paying you for your work here? If so, then you must disclose this in accordance with Wikipedia's mandatory policy on disclosure of paid editing. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 14:55, 25 July 2023 (UTC)

why

why did I get a speedy deletition?

Minakshishah (talk) 15:48, 25 July 2023 (UTC)

I know I’m not them but, the reason is probably because you linked organization in your sources or you didn’t add sources at all (ps. deletion, not deletittyon) Sapphoandherfriend (talk) 03:33, 26 July 2023 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Arnav Kapur

Hello YesI'mOnFire,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Arnav Kapur for deletion, because it's a redirect from an article title to a namespace that's not for articles.

If you don't want Arnav Kapur to be deleted, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

Usernames for admin attention

Thanks for your enthusiasm in reporting accounts to WP:UAA. However, admins won't consider accounts that have no edit history. The instructions at the top of the page include a condition that "Promotional names require evidence to be blocked. Do not report a username merely because it "appears" promotional." So, please first check that the account has made edits and that they were related to the company/organization/group. Thanks. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 16:11, 27 July 2023 (UTC)

speedly deletion of nainika anasuru

Brother, what is the problem, what is the problem, what problem are you facing in the page created by me that you had put the tag of speedly deletion on it. Now everything that I had written has been deleted. This page was being created as per the orders of Nainika. What do you see wrong in this that you have taken this step, tell me what should I do now and what should I not do so that there is no problem in creating the page, I want to create the same page again, I want to write her biography in the name of Nainika, I want to write about her. WP:UAA reports on users with no edits

Generally, there is no reason to report usernames with no edits whatsoever. Per WP:UAAI: "Only report accounts with edits and do not report those with no edits in the preceding 2 weeks. Do not report a user that has not edited or has not edited in the preceding 2 weeks, except for an instance of an egregious name violation. We do not want to welcome productive editors with a report at UAA, nor do we want to waste time dealing with accounts that may never be used." The exceptions are obvious hate speech or names that attack a living person/Wikipedia editor, those are blockable even without any edits, but other run-of-the-mill violations such as names of organizations or products need not be reported unless and until they at least attempt to edit, and you should be able to clearly explain what the problem is if it is not immediately evident.

For whatever reason, every day dozens, if not hundreds of accounts are created that never make one single edit. It is our responsibility as admins to conscientiously review every report a user makes at UAA, so we have to check for contribs, deleted contribs, and tripping of the edit filter for every one of these reports, only to find out there's nothing there and therefore no problem to be solved. That's time that could be spent doing more productive things, but you basically obligate admins to do it by making such reports. Beeblebrox (talk) 15:18, 4 August 2023 (UTC)

Speedy deletions

YesI'mOnFire, please read the speedy deletion policy:

If an editor other than the creator removes a speedy deletion tag in good faith, it should be taken as a sign that the deletion is controversial and another deletion process should be used.

The appropriate response to a speedy deletion tag is either to discuss with the person who declined it (me), or to follow what the policy says and seek another way to delete it (miscellany for deletion in this instance), or perhaps take your declined tag as an indication that deletion was not warranted. It is not to revert the declination of the tag.

You were previously warned by Spicy about your speedy deletion tags, and back then you admitted that you tagged many drafts "without even looking through carefully" and that you aggressively patrolled those drafts because "as many users are on the job in fighting vandalisms, I feel like there's no time for me to revert vandalisms before other users did :(".

This needs to stop. Some of your tags are good, and I have deleted pages that you have tagged. But fundamentally, as someone who was active tagging pages for speedy deletion before I became an administrator, you cannot go into speedy deletions with an attitude that it's all about speed. We have a duty to be welcoming to newcomers. Not every page that you dislike meets the criteria for speedy deletion. Please work more carefully. Sdrqaz (talk) 11:02, 8 August 2023 (UTC)

Liza Morales-Crespo

Hello, I noticed that my article on Liza Morales-Crespo was deleted and it did not specify why.

I am participating in a research class called Writing Women into the Canon of Architecture and Landscape Architecture led by Tijana Vujosevic at the University of British Columbia. The main objective of the class is to shed light on women architects in the global scale and publish as many Wikipedia pages as we can during the course. So far, there are about 80+ profiles that are in the works.

I acknowledge that the article may not be 100% ready. However, the goal of the class is to get as many articles published to open up the floor for further collaboration and contribution. J0708x (talk) 16:39, 8 August 2023 (UTC)

@J0708x It's why you should put it in draft space. Other editors can help you with preparing the article to be published in main space, such as finding reliable sources, etc. 🔥YesI'mOnFire🔥(ContainThisEmber?) 00:40, 9 August 2023 (UTC)

Thank you. Yes. I do have a neutrality concern as I am the subject of the entry. However, I am unclear why the double major I had from Indiana University Bloomington was omitted in the source story. My Bachelors degree is a double major in Political Science AND Religious Studies. That omission could cost me consideration in jobs that I am seeking. Please I hope this can be restored. I also had a career in public service at the local level for thirty five years and served on the staff of a member of Congress before that. I think these would be of interest. How then do I get these added to that entry consistent with the protocol and ethics of Wikipedia (which I fully endorse.) I welcome your help. My curriculum vita I could supply. I could supply the questionare that I returned to Dan Cardin whose NWI Times piece was the source of the entry. Also, I was not aware that I had a Wikipedia entry. I am pleased. Patrolling

Hello, YesI'mOnFire,

I see you are an active patrolling but are not an official member of the New Page Patrol (Wikipedia:New pages patrol). You might consider applying to do that job since you are basically doing it any way. It's great to have a community of editors doing similar tasks that you can ask questions of if they arise. They are a very dedicated group of editors.

Right now though, I'd like to ask you to please not tag for deletion pages minutes after they have been created. It's not fair to the content creator and it's unrealistic to expect an editor in their first few edits to a page to have a perfectly toned, non-promotional, well-referenced article. Usually the first edits are just to get content on the page and then the editor works polish it up and track down references. Give the editor time to polish their prose! I think the NPP standard is to give editors at least an hour before considering tagging a new article or draft for deletion. Additionally, it is extremely discouraging for a brand new editor to try to write an article and then immediately be informed that it will be deleted. Mostly, they leave and never come back which is bad for a platform like ours that needs a constant influx of new editors in order to build a lasting project. Please consider my request. Thank you. G5

Hi I saw you nominated a page for speedy deletion under G5 but did not file an SPI report for the article's author. G5 exists to enforce WP:BMB. Unless you establish that the page's author is a sockpuppet of a blocked master, and that the page was created after the master was blocked, we cannot delete the page under G5. The SPI report needs to precede the G5 request.

The page in question was deleted under a different criterion. Cabayi (talk) 10:56, 18 August 2023 (UTC)

According WP:Primary, section 2: "Any interpretation of primary source material requires a reliable secondary source for that interpretation." Your only source is from High-up Entertainment, which were not covered by any media coverage just yet. I suggest you find any reliable secondary sources to add to the information, or just wait if they are covered in media.
If you think I am wrong, I will considered taking to talk page to discuss this further. 🔥YesI'mOnFire🔥(ContainThisEmber?) 11:05, 18 August 2023 (UTC)

Firstly, you have removed the "Controversy" section, which has a reliable source to back up its claim.
Secondly, there are no source to back up your "early life" section, "education" section, and "political career" sections.
Third, your wording, such as "prominent", "tragically", "notably", "commitment to the well-being of his constituency is noteworthy", "even in the face of life threats", etc. (I can go on if you want) are considered by me as a very promotional tone. 🔥YesI'mOnFire🔥(ContainThisEmber?) 15:38, 23 August 2023 (UTC)

Repeated rejections of an individual's verifed accomplishments and work

Hi there,

You have stated a few times that the information added to Mohamed Lachemi's page did not have a neutral pov. The research section most recently added speaks to completed and published research and achievements, which by definition are not neautral - they are accomplishments. In response to previous feedback I have scaled back on adjectives to make the passage more neutral.

At the same time, many post academic leaders have similar listings - I am not sure why this page continues to get that feedback when so many others of the same ilk are written in the same manner and not repeatedly rejected.

Any specific feedback you have to improve the neautrality of the content would be helpful to know.

Thank you. Johanna412 (talk) 12:44, 2 October 2023 (UTC)

COI Tag removed (please add reason in talk page in future)

HI YesI'mOnFire🔥,

I just wanted to thank you for adding a COI tag to the recent Draft:Government People Group page.

However, I also wanted to remind you that this tag is not applicable unless the article uses puffery or other non-complying languages. Just because it is written by an authour with a COI, does not mean it has to have the tag. The tag implies the article does not comply with rules.

If you still feel the article warrants it, then feel free to keep it, however you must add a reason in the talk page as per the When to use rules or it may be removed. Thanks :) GPG Communications (talk) 10:32, 4 November 2023 (UTC)

ArbCom 2023 Elections voter message

Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2023 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:51, 28 November 2023 (UTC)

Help requested

Hello,

Would you remove me from the Signpost talk page message list? I tried to do it myself but could not find my name.

Thank you so much!
