Yogesh Dhama (born 12 January 1979) is an Indian politician associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He has represented the Baghpat constituency in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly in both the 2017 and 2022 elections.[1]

Early life and education

Yogesh Dhama was born on 12 January 1979 in Behta Hazipur, a village in Ghaziabad district, Western Uttar Pradesh. His father, Pratap Singh, was a high school principal in Delhi. Dhama pursued a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Shyam Lal College, which is affiliated with the University of Delhi.

Political career

Dhama's involvement in politics began during his university years as a student activist. In 1996, he served as the president of Shyam Lal College at the University of Delhi. He joined the Bharatiya Janata Party and became a notable figure in the political landscape of his region. Dhama's political journey gained momentum when he served as Zila Panchayat Adhyaksh in Baghpat from 2011 to 2016. His wife, Renu Dhama, also held the position of Zila Panchayat Adhyaksh for multiple terms. Together, they held the office continuously for 15 years.

Dhama is known for advocating for various public issues, particularly those impacting his constituency. He has supported farmers' rights and emphasized their involvement in budgetary decisions. @Utsav Malik: While you have toned down the non-neutrality a bit, there is still a problem with "commitment to public welfare" and "commitment to the well-being of his constituency". Those are opinions, and while Wikipedia can report on the opinions expressed by others, with proper citation, we cannot make this statement without such an attribution and source. Further, you have provided vast swaths of information about Dhama's personal and professional life, still without any reliable sources. So, no, this change will not be made until you can answer these concerns. PS: Apologies for refactoring your comments, but it made reviewing and responding significantly easier.
