I appreciate your answer and all of the various links that you provided me is there a different way of doing it it seems like the editors on here send you all over the place in order to get a simple thing done I am not a internetwork expert like you guys are so is there a simpler way of doing it I signed up for the beta program on here and thought that would help but that just created more people hating on me why are all of the editors on here so rude?

(talk page stalker) The easiest way to create a new talk page section is to click on the "new section" link at the top of the page. It automatically creates the section in the right place and with the right level of section heading, and also because it just gives an editing space for the new section, it avoids problems such as accidentally mixing your message into another section, and saves having to scroll all the way down if it's a very long talk page. I have no idea what you're talking about I didn't test edit anything I'm trying to just update my own personal life on here and every time I try to do anything I'm sent off into some weird Direction asking me to do this or that the one lady that did answer me was very helpful and she pointed out my original question and now I know how to use the history Button as far as test editing goes the only thing I want to test edit is my own personal life and how I can contribute to be a good editor I'm not trying to vandalize anything and I don't know as much as all of you but I'm willing to learn.

Hello and thank you for your comment I am new at this and by no means whatsoever was I trying to be disruptive in any of my edits let me assure you that when I make an edit on here it is to improve the quality of the website there was an article written recently about artificial intelligence that referenced some European location that didn't exist so I created a talk page for that specific topic I did not create the initial document I was commenting on the one that was already on the website any advice would be fine from you but I do not do anything disruptive on purpose I apologize for any confusion in advance forward to learning how to become a 12-year veteran like yourself my career in the rain is over and I have nothing but time on my hands help others learn about my profession and about who I am and what I can do to contribute to the validity of this website I am also the beta testers with everything I do on here is in beta form. 🇺🇸 WildBullMiller (talk) 02:37, 19 July 2018 (UTC)

• At an early stage in your editing I saw an edit which looked like vandalism, but having looked at it again, having thought about it very carefully in light of what you have now said to me, and also having looked at some of your other editing, I am willing to believe that you made genuine mistakes, rather than intending vandalism. I will offer you some comments which I hope may be of some help to you. First I shall comment on the editing that my comment to your talk page was about, and then on other editing.
• The meaning of some of what you have said in your message above is not clear to me, but I have tried to make as much sense of it as I can. You say that you "created a talk page", but the only talk page you have ever created is User talk:WildBullMiller, which doesn't seem to have any connection to what you have said above. I guess you must have intended the page European Lab for Learning and Intelligent Systems to be a talk page. If so then you created it under the wrong title, so that it appeared to be an article. You refer to "an article written recently about artificial intelligence". I don't know what article that is, so can you say what article it is? If you intended the page you created to be a talk page for an article called Foo Foo Bar then the title of that talk page should have been Talk:Foo Foo Bar. However, even if we assume that the page you created was an accidentally misplaced attempt to create a talk page for some unknown article, it was difficult to see what it was about. Nowhere did it mention the European Lab for Learning and Intelligent Systems. It consisted of separate sentences about different things, without any explanation of what they were all supposed to relate to. At first the sentences appeared to be unconnected to one another, though careful re-reading does reveal that almost all of them do refer to matters related in one way or another to creating machines or artificial beings, at least if we stretch a a few points such as viewing Aristotelean syllogisms as "mechanical thought".

I guess that what happened was probably more or less as follows. You saw some article somewhere about artificial intelligence. You were prompted to put together a few ideas about various historical mentions of things which in one way or another could be considered to be connected to artificial intelligence. Being inexperienced in how editing Wikipedia works, you created what you thought was a talk page, but which you accidentally made in "main space" instead of talk space, which means you created it as an article. Because you did not make it clear what you intended, and the page was not suitable as an article, it looked like vandalism. Is that about right?

Assuming that what I have said above is correct, there is one more thing that you should know about what you wrote. A talk page should be specifically for messages and discussions relating to editing the encyclopaedia, so that it may contain comments such as "I suggest we should change such and such a part of the article to say so and so", or "Can anybody provide a source to justify such and such a statement in this article?" Neither a talk page nor any other page on Wikipedia is a general forum for posting a collection of various odd thoughts on a subject.

• Your recent edits to articles that I have looked at do seem to be attempts to improve those articles, so I no longer think you are vandalising anything. However, there are a couple of things I can say which may help you avoid some kinds of mistakes.

1. It is perfectly right to add a signature to anything you post to a talk page or discussion page by putting ~~~~ at the end of your post, but you should not add your signature to articles.
2. The purpose of a disambiguation page, such as Etna, Ohio, is to provide links to different articles that a reader may be looking for under that title. Your edit to that page did two things to links: it removed a link to an article, so anyone arriving at that disambiguation page would not have been able to find the article, and it added a link to an article which doesn't exist (and is never likely to exist under the title you gave), so that it would not help anyone to find any information.

I think somewhere in your editing you said that you were looking for mentoring. I'm not at all sure how easy it is to get a mentor. I have a vague feeling that there may be more editors wanting a mentor than there are editors willing to be mentors, but I may be wrong. I suggest looking at Wikipedia:Adopt-a-user to see how to try to find a mentor. Once, something like seven years ago, I agreed to be a mentor for a new editor, but I don't think it's one of the things I am best at, so I haven't offered to do it again. However, If you have any specific questions I will help if I can.

I am sure there must be many other things that could be said to help you, but I hope that what I have said is some help. Sorry it's rather long: I find it difficult to keep things short when I write. I am also sorry to have contributed to a few negative experiences at the start of your time contributing to Wikipedia. I hope that your new career as a Wikipedia editor goes better from now on, now that you have unfortunately had to come to the end of your other career.
