Save the content you deleted to my talk page? edit

Can you please save the Ceres content you deleted from my talk page? I am trying to update the description of Ceres to be consistent with the website and current mission and goals. It's been over 10 years since the information and logo has been updated. How can I best do this if I'm considered COI editing? I was just updating the core pieces and not getting into extraneous parts.

Thank you. LindseyHDillon (talk) 19:22, 2 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hello Lindsey! First, the reason your additions to Ceres (organization) were removed was because they looked to be promotional and advertising Ceres itself. If you check the -> [1] <- revision here, you can see the article as when you edited it (this is old and not current). The text that seemed most advertising, to me, was in the lead. You put "most influential capital", which is vague and not neutral, as well as linking to a Twitter profile and website. This is not appropriate for the lead, unfortunately. Second, I advise heavily that you read WP:COI, as it tells you how to disclose your COI, and also make edit requests. Remember, Wikipedia cares not what something says about itself, but what others say about it. I hope this helped, and I hope you'll make good, neutral contributions in the future! Okay I will do that then. How do I update the logo? If I upload it to the free commons, it voids the copyright. LindseyHDillon (talk) 20:13, 2 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

You should read WP:LOGOS. WhoAteMyButter (📨talk📝contribs) 20:18, 2 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Kristine Levine. edit

She really has found a lot of dead bodies. She's talked about it on various podcast. No, I won't cite them. I am drunk.

Then it won't be added, among other reasons. Sober up before editing Wikipedia, it can't be healthy to try. WhoAteMyButter (📨talk📝contribs) 05:49, 7 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

I love you. edit

Mayweather VS Logan Paul fight edit

Don't worry about reverting my edit. I just wrote Logan Paul had no credentials for the fight because I thought it was pointless to say he is a Youtuber, since we were talking about a combat sport event. As far as credibility goes, I thought it was more proper to write "none", but no problem if it was reverted. I don't care. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 151.61.20.210 (talk) 05:05, 8 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

To me, it looked like vandalism: saying someone has no credentials is kind-of negative sounding; YouTuber worked fine. WhoAteMyButter (📨talk📝contribs) 05:15, 8 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

"do not modify archives" edit

The modification in question was this trans woman attempting to scrub her deadname from the internet for her mental health and quality of life. Please revert my change back to the correct, current name, as this causes me significant mental distress and was the reason for my modification. Kaolincash (talk) 14:41, 16 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

If you need your real name removed from the archives for privacy reasons, you should read WP:Revision_deletion#Criteria_for_redaction. I'm sorry, but reverting doesn't erase your name. You'll need to seek higher powers if you're concerned. WhoAteMyButter (📨talk📝contribs) 15:16, 16 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Disambiguation link notification for June 17 edit

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Daniel Cudmore, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Hyundai. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 06:00, 17 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Low-power Broadcasting .. edit

In regards to removing my external links on the Low-power broadcasting Wiki page .. I have been running my LPFM site for over 20 years, and felt it would be a good reference point for people looking for LPFM stations in their area .. Yes, the site is hosted on Weebly, with a corresponding Facebook page, but everything on those sites is factual information .. certainly relevant for a Wiki page on LPFM .. Please reconsider reinstating my links to the page .. Thanks ..

@PirateJim1971: Thanks for letting me know. I've decided to re-add just the database site, and label it unofficial. You should take further discussion to the article's talk page, though! WhoAteMyButter (📨talk📝contribs) 19:24, 21 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Wikepedia page? edit

Is there a way to get a Wikipedia page for a company? How do I get someone with a neutral point of view to write one? Marqueeig (talk) 20:12, 21 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

(cont.) Oversight - reorganized edit

Hello, I don't want to cause harm to the archived page but I need Oversight. I tried to remove my personal name from the archived version of this article, but I noticed that my attempts for removal were prevented and my full name has been reinstated. How can I ask the deletion of my name if I don't have a Wikipedia account? Can you remove it for me? Thank you.Nora

Hi. You will need to register for an account and follow the instructions at WP:OVERSIGHT. Good luck. WhoAteMyButter (📨talk📝contribs) 20:27, 21 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Thank you. I will do so and I hope that they will remove my name from the archived version of that article if I register a Wikipedia account. Nora — Preceding unsigned comment added by 5.204.139.241 (talk) 20:32, 21 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Draftifying articles edit

Hello, WhoAteMyButter,

After you move an article to Draft space and notify the page creator, please tag the original page for CSD R2 deletion. Cross-space redirects from main space are subject to speedy deletion. I find Twinkle very useful for tagging pages for all the types of deletion. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 01:43, 23 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Liz: ah, thank you! I hadn't noticed that Twinkle left a redirect for draft moves. Do you know if there is a way in Twinkle to automatically tag, or must I tag it myself? WhoAteMyButter (📨talk📝contribs) 01:46, 23 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
That's hard for me to answer. I use the "Draftify" script which you should get ahold of if you expect to do more of this type of work. I can't remember where I found it but they would know at AFC. The program goes through a series of steps including notifying the article creator. It's more thorough than doing a page move.
But the reason why I can't answer your question is is that for admins and page movers, you can choose whether or not to leave a redirect so I'm not sure what options are available to you when you do the same activity. But I'd try to install the Draftify script, it does all the heavy lifting for you. Liz Read! Talk! 02:04, 23 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

A barnstar for you! edit

  The Original Barnstar
Hello, WhoAteMyButter,

Thanks for your recent work reviewing and tagging articles. I'm not sure whether it is because it's summer or editors have retired but we are short of editors who are tagging spam articles for admin review. I appreciate your work, keep at it! Liz Read! Talk! 02:53, 27 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Updates to Westminster College, MO edit

Hi --

I have a number of factual updates to add to the Westminster College, MO, Wikipedia page, but I'm having trouble figuring out how to go about the process so my edits are approved. Please let me know how I should submit them. Changes would be made in sections throughout.

Thanks,

Westminster Editor (talk) 19:53, 28 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi. You should look at WP:Edit requests, which details how to get your suggestions into an article you have a COI with. WhoAteMyButter (📨talk📝contribs) 04:37, 29 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Sources needed for Days of the Year pages edit

I see you recently accepted a pending change to July 27 that did not include a direct source.

You're probably not aware of this change, but Days of the Year pages are no longer exempt from WP:V and direct sources are required for additions. For details see the edit notice on that page, the content guideline and/or the WikiProject Days of the Year style guide.

All new additions to the DOY pages without references are now being either reverted on-sight or in some cases where the patroller is especially motivated, immediately sourced. I've gone ahead and backed this edit out.

All the pages in the Days of the Year project have had pending changes protection turned on to prevent vandalism and further addition of entries without direct sources. As a pending changes patroller, it's not required but it sure would be helpful if you didn't accept additions to day of year pages where no direct source has been provided on that day of year page. The burden to provide sources for additions to these pages is on the editor who adds or restores material to these pages.

Thank you and please keep up your good work! Toddst1 (talk) 14:13, 28 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

I'm confused. I accepted the edit because the actual article the edit was involving was Margaret Ekpo, which does list them as born on July 27th, and not June. Why/how would a source be needed for a mistake like this? The IP editor did two edits, one to June 27 and July 27, both of which (to me, anyway) fixed the error. What kind of source would be needed for something like this? A citation from the original article? Thanks, WhoAteMyButter (📨talk📝contribs) 04:43, 29 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
