Welcome!

edit

Hello, Marqueeig, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited was Draft:Marquee Insurance Group, which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! As previously advised, your edits give the impression you have a financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. You were asked to cease editing until you responded by either stating that you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits, or by complying with the mandatory requirements under the Wikimedia Terms of Use that you disclose your employer, client and affiliation. Again, you can post such a disclosure on your user page at User:Marqueeig, and the template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Marqueeig|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. Please respond before making any other edits to Wikipedia. Theroadislong (talk) 20:18, 21 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

I work for the company but am not being paid to make this. I wanted to make this as a way to inform the public about the company like our competitor Reliance Partners did.

You work for the company so you ARE a paid editor and need to make the required disclosure. Theroadislong (talk) 20:30, 21 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
Ok so how do I do that?
Marqueeig, just follow the instructions in the first post in this section (starting from the word "Again"). You'll also need to request a change of username, as your present name suggests that you are or represent the company, and corporate usernames are not permitted – Wikipedia accounts are strictly for individual personal use only. You can do that here, or, if you prefer, you can just say here on this page what name you would like; provided that it's available, I'll make the change for you. Blocked

edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames which give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy or request a change of username.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose. Additionally, if your contributions to Wikipedia form all or part of work for which you are, or expect to be, paid, you must disclose who is paying you to edit.

Please also note that you are permitted to use a username that contains the name of a company or organization if it identifies you individually, such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87".

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text

{{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}

at the bottom of your talk page. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names.

 Thank you. Hammersoft (talk) 20:36, 21 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • I understand you just wanted to make a page for you company to inform people, like your competitor did ([1]). Please understand, Wikipedia is not intended to inform the public about any company or service. We are an encyclopedia, not a means of promotion. If your company is truly notable there will be ample reliable, secondary sources to support such a claim. That does not exist at Draft:Marquee Insurance Group. I have blocked this account as it appears to represent the company and not you personally. Our username policy, as expressed at WP:CORPNAME, forbids this sort of account name. You are welcome to create a new account that represents only you. However, since you work for the company you are trying to write about, I strongly recommend you read and closely adhere to our conflict of interest guideline. You have already shown that you are not writing in a neutral tone about your company. If you have questions, let me know. Thanks, --Hammersoft (talk) 20:41, 21 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
