I was very happy to be with u but if others do absurd things like this, i would ask you to be more sensible. Don't think that you are such heros by deleting the description about Ananda Daham Pasala. For goodness sake!!!!!!!

Your thread has been archived edit

June 2019 edit

  Hello, I'm Gab4gab. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Ananda College, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Gab4gab (talk) 13:14, 4 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

You have added material regarding Ananda Daham Pasala multiple times now without referencing reliable sources that support your addition. All Wikipedia content must be based on published sources. Editors restoring challenged material have the burden of providing in-line citations that support what they are restoring. I invite you to participate in the discussion of 'Ananda Daham Pasala' by following this link: Talk:Ananda College#Ananda Daham Pasala. Make your case there rather than continuing a slow motion edit war. Gab4gab (talk) 15:07, 4 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
I see that you again added a section on 'Ananda Daham Pasala' without participating in the discussion on the talk page and without providing a reliable source that supports that content you are restoring. Continuing to add this content without discussing it could be considered disruptive editing. I again suggest you join the discussion on the talk page. Gab4gab (talk) 01:54, 7 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

Ananda Daham Pasala is still in existence in Ananda College. edit

I added description about Ananda Daham Pasala because any one reading the wikipaedia page of Ananda college will know about it. Ananda Daham Pasala has an fb page too. If u go to that, u will see our teachers and students, prefects. Please do not delete our description. I uploaded our logo to prove that we are really existing. This is not a joke. Please let the whole description about Ananda Daham Pasala exist on the wikipaedia page of Ananda College. I hope you will give us good response. Thank you.

Vinuka Walawage-Vinuka Walawage (talk) 13:44, 8 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

There is a discussion on the talk page of Ananada College which I have invited you to participate in. That is where you should be presenting your arguments. Note however that if you are a Teacher of Ananada Daham Pascala then you have a conflict of interest in promoting your organization. See WP:COI Gab4gab (talk) 13:50, 8 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

Argument on Ananda college edit

Then rhere should not be a description about the olcott oration and old boys association. They are just societies in ananda college. Please be sensible. Vinuka Walawage (talk) 13:57, 8 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

You may be correct. Feel free to bring this up on the article talk page. 331dot (talk) 00:43, 9 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

June 2019 edit

  Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. You appear to be repeatedly reverting or undoing other editors' contributions at Ananda College. Although this may seem necessary to protect your preferred version of a page, on Wikipedia this is known as "edit warring" and is usually seen as obstructing the normal editing process, as it often creates animosity between editors. Instead of reverting, please discuss the situation with the editor(s) involved and try to reach a consensus on the talk page.

If editors continue to revert to their preferred version they are likely to be blocked from editing Wikipedia. This isn't done to punish an editor, but to prevent the disruption caused by edit warring. In particular, editors should be aware of the three-revert rule, which says that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Edit warring on Wikipedia is not acceptable in any amount, and violating the three-revert rule is very likely to lead to a block. Thank you. 331dot (talk) 00:42, 9 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

Managing a conflict of interest edit

  Hello, Vinuka Walawage. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the COI guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. 331dot (talk) 00:44, 9 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

Notability of Ananda Daham Pasala edit

I see you have written a draft Ananda Daham Pasala article. You may want to review how Wikipedia applies the term notability (See WP:N) before devoting more of your time to that project. The general need for reliable third-party sources may result in deletion of the article as non-notable. New editors are often surprised by how Wikipedia approaches notability. For most of us it's not how we use the word outside of Wikipedia. Gab4gab (talk) 03:07, 13 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

Reply to Gab4gab: It is not a draft my friend. It is on the following newspapers. You asked me for better citation. So there are two newspaper articles published in 2 national newspapers of Sri Lanka. (Daily Mirror 2019.07.24 14th page and Dinamina 2019.07.23 2nd page) So I think you can have a look at the pages of those newspapers. I request you to leave the description I put in the Article Ananda College as it goes parellel with the English news article.Vinuka Walawage (talk) 15:17, 24 July 2019 (UTC)Vinuka WalawageReply

Just to be clear: Draft:Ananda Daham Pasala is what you have written. That is a draft. You have copyright violation there as you did in the Ananda College article. You need to rewrite the information in your own words. We can't simply copy and paste from copyrighted sources. I'm happy to leave your edits in place if they follow Wikipedia guidelines. Gab4gab (talk) 16:05, 25 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
Now I've noticed that in June your draft article contained the same text that appeared in the DailyMirror on July 24th. How did that happen? Gab4gab (talk) 16:32, 25 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia and copyright edit

  Hello Vinuka Walawage, and welcome to Wikipedia. Your additions to Ananda College have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are PD or compatibly licensed) it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions, the help desk or the Teahouse before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps in Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate. See also Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Gab4gab (talk) 15:13, 25 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

July 2019 edit

  Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you recently removed maintenance templates from Ananda College. When removing maintenance templates, please be sure to either resolve the problem that the template refers to, or give a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Please see Help:Maintenance template removal for further information on when maintenance templates should or should not be removed. If this was a mistake, don't worry, as your removal of this template has been reverted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Speedy deletion nomination of User:Vinuka Walawage edit

A tag has been placed on User:Vinuka Walawage requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section U5 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to consist of writings, information, discussions, and/or activities not closely related to Wikipedia's goals. Please note that Wikipedia is not a free web hosting service. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. creffett (talk) 23:50, 25 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:Ananda Daham Pasala edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Draft:Ananda Daham Pasala, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. creffett (talk) 01:50, 27 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:The 2019 Prefects' investiture of Ananda Daham Pasala.png edit

Thank you for uploading File:The 2019 Prefects' investiture of Ananda Daham Pasala.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.

This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:00, 28 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
