Fair use rationale for Image:Ananda logo.jpg

edit

Image:Ananda logo.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

edit

An image used in this article, File:Ananda college at night during ananda abhiman.jpg, has been nominated for speedy deletion for the following reason: All Wikipedia files with unknown copyright status

What should I do?

Don't panic; you should have time to contest the deletion (although please review deletion guidelines before doing so). The best way to contest this form of deletion is by posting on the image talk page.

Ananda Daham Pasala

edit

A section for Ananda Daham Pasala was added with no sourced cited that support it's content. I'm removing it as unverifiable. I'm also removing the listing of Ananda Daham Pasala in the Clubs & Societies section because there is nothing indicating it is a club or society of the college. Some editors have claimed that it is not either a club or society or the college. Editors who restore content that has been challenged as unverifiable have the burden of providing in-line citations supporting the restored content. Gab4gab (talk) 13:23, 8 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

A section about this was added again today with a reference to Facebook. There are two problems with this. First Facebook is not a reliable source, postings to facebook are not subject to editorial review. Second is the problem that the facebook page, unreliable as it is, supports very little of the sections content. I've added a 'better source needed' tag and removed the content that the Facebook reference does not support. Gab4gab (talk) 01:49, 7 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

Reply to Gab4gab:There is no advertising about Ananda Daham Pasala. I have only mentioned about the history of Ananda Daham Pasala. I request wikipaedia guys to even leave the facts about the history of Ananda Daham Pasala. Vinuka Walawage (talk) 16:28, 8 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

If your school is not discussed in independent sources,(not advertising, but news, magazines, etc.) it can't be extensively mentioned here. Wikipedia is not for advertising your school. 331dot (talk) 16:35, 8 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
The school (Amanda College) website has a long list of extra-curricular and co-curricular groups and activities. This 'Ananda Daham Pasala' school within a school is not mentioned. There seems to be no independent coverage. I had left in place the one claim that seems to be supported by the facebook page; that Ananda Daham Pasala is a school at this school. The rest seems to be personal knowledge that Vinuka Walawage insists must be included and has added again. Vinuka claims to be a teacher at this school within a school on his talk page. That conflict of interest seem to make it difficult to follow Wikipedia policy and reach consensus on this content dispute. Gab4gab (talk) 17:02, 8 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

Better citation provided for Ananda Daham Pasala

edit

Three newspaper articles published in 2 national newspapers of Sri lanka are cited as proof for new description of Ananda Daham Pasala. They are 2nd page of Dinamina 2019.07.23 and 14th page of Daily Mirror 2019.07.24 and 10th page of 2013.03.09 Dinamina) I request the fellow editors to leave the new description remaining as better citation is provided. It is preferable to reference sources in English if they are available. We can't copy and paste from copyrighted material, that's a copyright violation. It's not necessary to supply multiple citations for the same content. I'll remove the copyright violation and retain the reliable English language citation. Gab4gab (talk) 14:45, 25 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

If I mention the fact in the English newspaper articles in my own words, that would not be considered as plagarism. So I will mention thrm in my own words. Vinuka Walawage (talk) 15:45, 4 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
