Exclusion of numbers is less informative: Sitush is white-washing the article. In Wikipedia the more information one article has the better. Numbers put perspective into things. "Many" is an imprecise word. We don't add imprecise things deliberately. Mr T(Talk?) (New thread?) 16:24, 17 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited List of Kings XI Punjab cricketers, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page David Miller (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Changes to SuggestBot's suggestions

We have changed the number of suggested articles and which categories they are selected from. The number of stubs has been greatly reduced, the number of articles needing sources doubled, and two new categories added (orphans and unencyclopaedic articles). We have also modified the layout of the suggestions and added sortable columns with various types of information about each article. The first two columns are:

Views/Day
Daily average number of views an article's had over the past 14 days.
Quality
Predicted article quality on a 1- to 3-star scale. Placing your cursor over the stars should give you a pop-up describing the article's quality (Low/Medium/High), current assessment class, and predicted assessment class.

The method we use to predict article quality also allows us to assess whether an article might need specific types of work in order to improve its quality. The work needed might not correspond to cleanup tags added to the article, since our method is not based on those. We have added five columns reflecting this work assessment, where a red X indicates improvement is needed. Placing your cursor over an X should give you a pop-up with a short description of the work needed. The five columns seek to answer the following five questions:

Content
Is more content needed?
Headings
Does this article have an appropriate section structure?
Images
Is the number of illustrative images about right?
Links
Does this article link to enough other Wikipedia articles?
Sources
For its length, is there an appropriate number of citations to sources in this article?

WikiProject Good Articles Recruitment Centre

Hello! Now, some of you might have already received a similar message a little while ago regarding the Recruitment Centre, so if you have, there is no need to read the rest of this. This message is directed to users who have reviewed over 15 Good article nominations and are not part of WikiProject Good articles (the first message I sent out went to only WikiProject members).

So for those who haven't heard about the Recruitment Centre yet, you may be wondering why there is a Good article icon with a bunch of stars around it (to the right). The answer? WikiProject Good articles will be launching a Recruitment Centre very soon! The centre will allow all users to be taught how to review Good article nominations by experts just like you! However, in order for the Recruitment Centre to open in the first place, we need some volunteers:

  • Recruiters: The main task of a recruiter is to teach users that have never reviewed a Good article nomination how to review one. To become a recruiter, all you have to do is meet this criteria. If we don't get at least 5-10 recruiters to start off with (at the time this message was sent out, 2 recruiters have volunteered), the Recruitment Centre will not open. If interested, make sure you meet the criteria, read the process and add your name to the list of recruiters. (One of the great things about being a recruiter is that there is no set requirement of what must be taught and when. Instead, all the content found in the process section is a guideline of the main points that should be addressed during a recruitment session...you can also take an entire different approach if you wish!) If you think you will not have the time to recruit any users at this time but are still interested in becoming a recruiter, you can still add your name to the list of recruiters but just fill in the "Status" parameter with "Not Available".
  • Co-Director: The current Director for the centre is me (Dom497). Another user that would be willing to help with some of the tasks would be helpful. Tasks include making sure recruiters are doing what they should be (teaching!), making sure all recruitments are archived correctly, updating pages as needed, answering any questions, and distributing the feedback form. If interested, please contact me (Dom497).
  • Nominators, please read this: If you are not interested in becoming a recruiter, you can still help. In some cases a nominator may have an issue with an "inexperienced" editor (the recruitee) reviewing one of their nominations. To minimize the chances of this happening, if you are fine with a recruitee reviewing one of your nominations under the supervision of the recruiter, please add your name to the list at the bottom of this page. By adding your name to this list, chances are that your nomination will be reviewed more quickly as the recruitee will be asked to choose a nomination from the list of nominators that are OK with them reviewing the article.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to seeing this program bring new reviewers to the Good article community and all the positive things it will bring along.

A message will be sent out to all recruiters regarding the date when the Recruitment Centre will open when it is determined. The message will also contain some further details to clarify things that may be a bit confusing.--Dom497 (talk)

Proposed deletion of Sanskrit Wikipedia

The article Sanskrit Wikipedia has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable version of Wikipedia: the article either includes only non-independent and self-published sources (especially Wikipedia itself), or has no sources at all.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. eh bien mon prince (talk) 00:34, 10 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

RE:Bow Tie Cigar

I don't think you were off the mark with your first response to Prpiranha. I think he is probably a PR agent, not the owner of the company. I have explained exhaustively to him the issues and he keeps resubmitting the article for review without addressing them. Doesn't seem to want to understand notability, even though he states he has "read the applicable policies". I've been here a year and a half, and I still haven't read all the applicable policies. He's been here two days. Gtwfan52 (talk) 06:03, 14 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

I agree. Neither he has any reliable online source. Most magazines are available online. ♛♚★Vaibhav Jain★♚♛ Talk Email 06:09, 14 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

I am curious about this claim that you made earlier today. Which contributors in the topic area are being paid to edit? Where is your evidence? - Sitush (talk) 12:02, 23 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

You've also (I think) made this claim earlier (here). Paid editors are expected to identify themselves and not edit directly in areas where they are being compensated monetarily. You should indicate which editors you believe are paid editors (along with your evidence). --regentspark (comment) 13:49, 23 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
Chor ki daadhi mein tinka?! §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 14:32, 23 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

You don't need to teach me grammar, thanks. What was the point of your comment? All I can see is a snide insinuation but I'm willing to let you explain and thus avoid potential sanctions. For example, were you referring to me or RegentsPark? Would you care to give your translation? Etc. - Sitush (talk) 15:56, 23 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
Ignore DD Sitush. For some obscure reason he has morphed into a wise cracking editor who prefers to make snide comments rather than work constructively with other editors. I much preferred the original AnimeshKulkarni, but we can't have everything. --regentspark (comment) 16:11, 23 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
Sitush, spare yourself all the efforts of trying to threaten me with blocks and bans. It might work with all those new comers on caste article. And RP, beauty lies in the eyes of beholder. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 17:29, 23 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

I have not seen RegentsPark questioning Maunus when similar accusations were made against other users – [1]. Your selective attentiveness to these claims is disturbing. — Nearly Headless Nick {c} 09:09, 24 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Let me clarify all this. My comment was NOT about Sitush. He is a well based editor. I was referring to some new editors and their knowledge of the policies was a little surprising in newbies. Also their edits were pro-congress on articles like Digvijay Singh, and anti-BJP on Narendra Modi. Since I have got no proof, I won't like to mention has editor's name. ♛♚★Vaibhav Jain★♚♛ Talk Email 15:47, 25 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the clarification Vaibhav. Still, you want to be careful about paid editor (or other) insinuations. Perhaps the editors merely have a pov or they are editing in good faith (hard to tell when the number of edits is low). Always best to hold your suspicions close to your chest until you have sufficient evidence to back them up. --regentspark (comment) 19:33, 28 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

SuggestBot picks articles in a number of ways based on other articles you've edited, including straight text similarity, following wikilinks, and matching your editing patterns against those of other Wikipedians. It tries to recommend only articles that other Wikipedians have marked as needing work. We appreciate that you have signed up to receive suggestions regularly, your contributions make Wikipedia better — thanks for helping!

Hello Vibhijain.Recently you have signed my guestbook! Thank you very much for signing my guestbook. Cheers. --Pratyya (Hello!) 09:46, 30 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hi

Hi, Vibhijain, you'll likely not be pleased about this but I have suppressed a number of edits to your userspace which reveal too much personally identifiable information about yourself. I've done this per policy and for your own protection and safety on-line as you are a self-declared minor. I'm really sorry about that and I know it's annoying, but it's for the best. Please don't re-add it. For some useful information on privacy and safety, take a look at Wikipedia:Guidance for younger editors. Thanks, and sorry for messing about with your pages. -- WormTT(talk) 07:43, 1 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

WikiCup 2013 June newsletter

We are down to our final 16: the 2013 semi-finals are upon us. A score of 321 was required to survive round 3, further cementing this as the most competitive WikiCup yet; round 3 was survived in 2012 with 243 points, in 2011 with 76 points and in 2010 with 250 points. The change may in part be to do with the fact that more articles are now awarded bonus points, in addition to more competitive play. Reaching the final has, in the past, required 573 points (2012, a 135% increase on the score needed to reach round 4), 150 points (2011, a 97% increase) and 417 points (2010, a 72% increase). This round has seen over a third of participants claiming points for featured articles (with seven users claiming for multiple featured articles) and most users have also gained bonus points. However, the majority of points continue to come from good articles, followed by did you know articles. In this round, every content type was utilised by at least one user, proving that the WikiCup brings together content contributors from all corners of the project.

Round 3 saw a number of contributions of note.   Figureskatingfan (submissions) claimed the first featured topic points in this year's competition for her excellent work on topics related to Maya Angelou, the noted American author and poet. We have also continued to see high-importance articles improved as part of the competition:   Ealdgyth (submissions) was awarded a thoroughly well-earned 560 points for her featured article Middle Ages and 102 points for her good article Battle of Hastings. Good articles James Chadwick and Stanislaw Ulam netted   Hawkeye7 (submissions) 102 and 72 points respectively, while 72 points were awarded to   Piotrus (submissions) for each of Władysław Sikorski and Emilia Plater, both recently promoted to good article status. Collaborative efforts between WikiCup participants have continued, with, for example,   Casliber (submissions) and   Sasata (submissions) being awarded 180 points each for their featured article on Boletus luridus.

A rules reminder: content promoted between rounds can be claimed in the round after the break, but not the round before. The case in point is content promoted on the 29/30 June, which may be claimed in this round. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. We are currently seeing concern about the amount of time people have to wait for reviews, especially at GAC- if you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to reduce the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

List of Delhi Daredevils cricketers

On this article, there is a list of uncapped players. What does "uncapped" mean? A player who actually didn't play? Could that be clarified in the article? Maybe its a common word in cricket lingo. I am fully unaware of it and hence thought of asking here instead of tagging it on the article. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 11:12, 12 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Uncapped refers to any player who has been a part of the squad but did not played any match. It can also refer to someone who has not represented his country at international level. Therefore to avoid confusion I have already explained this in the third para of the lead. ♛♚★Vaibhav Jain★♚♛ Talk Email 11:24, 12 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
Okay! Thanks. I missed that line. Was looking only in the key section. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 03:34, 15 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
