Olamide

You know am new to wikipedia,a message is left on the page that it needs clean up.What can i do? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Engrpeters (talkcontribs) 12:24, 3 January 2014 (UTC)

I was the one who added the cleanup tag to the article using Twinkle. I will removed it once we clean it up. Olamide's Wikipedia article definitely deserves to be like Wizkid's if not better. versace1608 (talk) 18:49, 3 January 2014 (UTC)

Baddest Guy Ever Liveth

I really like your article about that album,I thought of starting that article,But I was like .. Its gonna a load of work — Preceding unsigned comment added by Engrpeters (talkcontribs) 22:22, 4 January 2014 (UTC)

Thanks. I'm not done yet. There are still things to add. I should be done with it hopefully by today's end. versace1608 (talk) 22:35, 4 January 2014 (UTC)

General help and appreciation

It was not me that italicize the singles. Can you help me create my user page?I have tried it, I couldn't get itEngrpeters (talk) 17:58, 5 January 2014 (UTC)

Yes I can. Do you want something plain and simple or do you want a customize page like mines? The more prettier a user page looks, the more difficult it'll be to create. Wikipedia has a design center; here's the link: [1]. You should read this [2] if you want to create something simple. Otherwise, you can browse userpages in the "Hall of Fame" and edit them to see the coding used (just copy and paste simple codes to your userpage to see what they do). I am still learning Wikipedia's coding. If you want to get live help from experience users, you can join Wikipedia's live chat room. I know a thing or two about babels and formatting and can gladly help you. versace1608 (talk) 18:41, 5 January 2014 (UTC)

Your rollback request

Hi Versace1608, I have granted rollback rights to your account in accordance with your request. Please be aware that rollback should be used to revert vandalism, spam and blatantly unconstructive edits; using it to revert any other type of edit - such as by revert-warring or reverting edits you disagree with - can lead to it being removed from your account...sometimes without any warning depending on the admin who becomes aware of any misuse. If you think an edit should require a reason for reverting, use a manual edit summary instead of using the rollback tool. For practice, you may wish to see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback. Good luck. Acalamari 14:42, 6 January 2014 (UTC)

Page curation

Hey Versace, I noticed you were tagging some articles earlier. While that is fine and I would like to thank you for the stub tagging, adding merge templates to articles is unproductive to their well-being if you don't provide a reason behind it. There are a lot of articles out there with this template on their page, but unless you give a reasoning behind it, no one knows why it should be merged. As such, I have removed these tags, as they are all notable mass transit stations. Finally, a map prepared during that era is a reliable source, so I also removed that tag as well. It's no small sweat, but I just wanted to let you know why I removed everything, if you weren't sure. Kevin Rutherford (talk) 03:51, 7 January 2014 (UTC)

That's fine. There's nothing wrong with the articles. I added the tags because I felt that since they are all related, they could be merged together to avoid having several stub articles. Also, you used the same reference on all of them. I think more references will help establish notability to the articles. I guess there are not much reliable sources out there. If there were, you probably would have added them. versace1608 (talk) 04:34, 7 January 2014 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!

  The Original Barnstar
Really love what you did to the headies page, please I wanna know under what category of license am to put a promotional banner for an african award show or a movie...because some of these movies do not create provision for me to have a citation that states explicitly that it is for media use nevertheless they want the images publicised. Darreg (talk) 11:45, 7 January 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for the barnstar. I am still working on the headies page and there are still things that needs to be added. When you say banner, I'm assuming you mean a movie poster or cover, correct? Regardless of what type of banner or poster, one must provide a fair non free use rationale if the banner is copyrighted. You need to add a citation if the image you're uploading is online. If you find the image from a third party source that's not affiliated with the brand, you can cite the third party source nonetheless. You should upload the file using Wikipedia's File Upload Wizard. When uploading files, make sure you keep the pixels size to a minimum. 300*300 or 400*400 will do. Wikipedia likes free and do not really like copyrighted work so every copyrighted files must be kept to a minimum pixel density. If you don't mind, can I take a look at the image you're talking about? I hope I was of help. versace1608 (talk) 13:36, 7 January 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for the advice. I retrieved all the information from the FIBA.com website which is virtually the only place I could find it on. Thanks for reviewing my Gaylon H. White article

I appreciate your review of my article/biography for Gaylon H. White. I am not finished with it yet, which is the reason for the URLs as they are now and lack of complete citations. I hope to complete it by the end of the day tomorrow. All feedback is welcome as well as references to help me get it done right.--LLDeBord (talk) 03:26, 9 January 2014 (UTC)

DARREG APPRECIATES YOU AND NEEDS TOUR HELP

Hello Versace I just saw your previous reply on my talk page today, I wish i could create more structurally friendly pages like you do, Thanks for always being there to answer my questions whenever I seek help...About the "images right" i was able to learn from reading your description of the headies image and i have been able to add images that was not rejected...I would not mind if you delegate a few pages to me to work on that would be reviewed by you...I really want to be an active contributor this year...ThanksDarreg (talk) 21:19, 10 January 2014 (UTC)

You should always browse around and ask questions if you don't understand. Wikipedia is a big community and there are lots of Wikipedians here to help although majority of them don't edit the articles we work on. I'll work more on my the Davido article; feel free to add to it. I can review the articles you create. You are doing a good job and keep up the great work. By contributing to Wikipedia, each and everyone of us are leaving a legacy behind. versace1608 (talk) 04:26, 11 January 2014 (UTC)
After fixing up Davido, I'll probably write an article on Chidinma. I like her music and I think she's really nice. I don't know who you're going to be working on next but another Wikipedian wanted me to write an article on 2 face's "African Queen" song. I promised him but haven't gotten the chance to write the article because the Wizkid article and other related articles have been taking up most of my time. If you're good with table coding, you could probably start Davido's discography article. If you do want to work on it, I suggest you practice in your sandbox before transferring your work to mainspace. You can create two or three sandboxes and work on two or three articles at a time. versace1608 (talk) 04:40, 11 January 2014 (UTC)

DAVIDO DISCOGRAPHY

hello versace, I have made a few edits on davido discography and i was just wondering if you could look into it if its ok. its actually the first time am creating a table for a musician so pardon whatever structural ambiguity that i might have created — Preceding unsigned comment added by Darreg (talkcontribs) 11:02, 11 January 2014 (UTC) If there is anything that should be added please let me know thanksDarreg (talk) 11:10, 11 January 2014 (UTC)

It looks good. You should change the countries in the peak chart position section. Davido's songs have a better chance of peaking in Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, and etc than in the US, Germany, Belgium... Also, some of the singles in the table weren't included on the OBO album so the table needs to be modified. There are still things I need to write and there will probably be a separate discography article once I'm done expanding. versace1608 (talk) 14:38, 11 January 2014 (UTC)
Thanks. Actually the reason that column(peak chart position) even existed was because I was using Dbanj discography as my guide.

I already removed it though so the fields are now empty. According to Davido's website 18 tracks was in the OBO album and those were the singles I added but you said some were not listed in the album. Goodluck with the completion of the article and remember I am always avaluable.Darreg (talk) 18:09, 11 January 2014 (UTC)

Olamide

Can you take the {{under construction}} template from Olamide? If you still need it up, please take it down of you will not be editing for more than 1-2 days in a row. You did not edit this article for about a week, starting on January 5 and ending earlier today. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 05:45, 12 January 2014 (UTC)

If you take a look at the article's history, you'll see that I edited the article today. I removed the template just now. versace1608 (talk) 06:03, 12 January 2014 (UTC)
Yes, as I said earlier, you went a week or so without editing it, ending "earlier today" - that is, sometime before 5:45 (UTC). Thanks for removing the {{under construction}} template. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 06:10, 12 January 2014 (UTC)

NOTABILITY STATUS

Its been a while, thanks for always being there for me when I need help. I noticed that the only Nollywood award event on Wikipedia is Africa Movie Academy Award(AMAA). I have decided to create articles on some other notable film awards, but am unsure if it meets wikipedia's notability status. I don't want to create one and get it deleted later after my hard work. The award shows am considering are Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards(AMVCA), Best Of Nollywood(BON) Awards and Nollywood Movie Awards(NMA).

I already read articles on what makes an event notable so I don't need to read more about Wikipedia terms, All I want is for you to tell me what you think. I am awaiting your response which I hope would be soon.Cite error: There are <ref> tags on this page without content in them (see the help page). — Preceding unsigned comment added by Darreg (talkcontribs) 11:25, 29 January 2014 (UTC)

You should put the article you want to create in your sandbox and I can take a look at it from there and tell you what you can do to make it notable. Here's a link to your sandbox: User:Darreg/sandbox. By the way, I have been working on the headies article in my sandbox. I am creating a separate article for each year starting from 2006. I clicked on the link and it's redirecting me. You need to enable your sandbox in the preferences setting. To do this, click on "preferences" at the top of the page. Next click on "Gadgets". Scroll down to "Appearances". Under "appearances", check "add a "Sandbox" link to the personal toolbar area." versace1608 (talk) 13:56, 29 January 2014 (UTC)
You need to delete or hide the frank Frank Edoho from the sandbox. This will enable you to add the article you're talking about. I will hide the contents that are currently in your sandbox. versace1608 (talk) 14:03, 29 January 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for your work on The Headies I can't wait to view it, the checkbox has already been checked and my sandbox is now free, I would keep you posted on my created movie award articles in my sandbox.Darreg (talk) 15:13, 29 January 2014 (UTC)

You're welcome bro. Just remember that an article that has links to reliable sources and significant coverage meets Wikipedia's notability requirements. I believe the articles you're trying to create are notable but in order to proof that to the world, you must provide reliable references, i.e newspapers, books, journals, magazine articles, etc. versace1608 (talk) 19:37, 29 January 2014 (UTC)

How do you know I am a guy? #lol...I was having problems using my sandbox so I retired to the traditional method of creation here is a link to what I just created https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Africa_Magic_Viewers_Choice_Awards , I know its a stub but I would work more on it later(that is if it is not deleted before you view it). — Preceding unsigned comment added by Darreg (talkcontribs) 09:38, 30 January 2014 (UTC)

I'm sorry if I got your gender wrong. I guess I'm just bias when it comes to Wikipedia. I think that about 80 percent of Wikipedians are males. I may be wrong on the percentage but I believe I'm close. This article is notable. There are links to reliable sources. However, I feel that you need to provide newspaper references from other countries since this award is a continental award. I can help you find more reliable newspaper references. You should also convert references to full text citation. You can do this by using User:ProveIt GT or the default cite web template. versace1608 (talk) 19:20, 30 January 2014 (UTC)

Your analysis might not be far from the truth afterwards cos I am actually a guy...I wonder what is stopping the women from becoming wikipedians...Thanks for making me know about provelt I have been able to increase the readability of my references with it. Darreg (talk) 09:09, 31 January 2014 (UTC)

You're welcome bro. We're all here to help out one another. I am still working on the Headies and articles relating to the award. I will be done hopefully in the next few days. versace1608 (talk) 18:47, 31 January 2014 (UTC)

You have really transformed The Headies page to a world class standard article, Even Ayo Animashaun will be very impressed if he should see what you have done (He might even hire yoy as a PR personel). I am currently busy on Film Industry articles if not I would have joined you with the Headies page but I am forced to ask you this question (that is if its not against the rules of talk pages), Are you Nigerian? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Darreg (talkcontribs) 14:17, 10 February 2014 (UTC) Darreg (talk) 14:19, 10 February 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for all the kind remarks. I really appreciate that. I hope Mr. Ayo Animashaun will be impressed. Thanks to everyone who have worked on the article, including yourself. Without you creating the page, I don't think I would have worked on it. There are just too many articles to create. All we can do is try our best to create and edit as much as possible. All of the red links in the article needs an article and I will try to finish them by the end of this week. I am not Nigerian but I've lived there during two different time period. Nigeria is my second home Bro. I even have a Nigerian play name. I now live in the U.S. versace1608 (talk) 20:54, 10 February 2014 (UTC)

You make me blush....Do you think its better a create one very good accurate article (100% complete) before moving to another article or to just have several articles that are like 60% complete before coming back to them later. especially for someone that has to meet a particular number of created articles. Darreg (talk) 07:35, 11 February 2014 (UTC)

I think its a matter of preference. Some people like working on articles and writing as much as they can before staring another. Others do the opposite. I don't think an article can ever be "100 percent complete"; there are always something that can be added or deducted. While you may think that the Headies article is good, others may think that it is not quite informative. What do you mean by "someone has to meet a particular number of created articles"? versace1608 (talk) 19:58, 11 February 2014 (UTC)

About the Olamide's picture

I actually read it somewhere if the picture is an open source media it can be uploaded,I even linked it to his instagram page cos of this copyright.Thank you for info though,I will talk to him on twitterEngrpeters (talk) 12:01, 5 February 2014 (UTC)

If the image isn't copyrighted, you can upload it to Commons; Commons love free lol. However, if you decide to upload the image, you must proof that the image is infact free. I believe the image is free but since we can't proof that, we can't upload it. I think you should send an email to the this email address: [ybnlnation2012@yahoo.com] (I took this from his official twitter handle). The email can look like this:

Hi YBNL nation, I am a Wikipedia editor and contributor. I contributed to Olamide's Wikipedia article and would like to attach an image (preferably a vertical one) of him in the infobox of his Wikipedia article. I am writing to request a photo (general portrait or situation specific photo) for his article on the english wikipedia. His article is linked here:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olamide

The thing is, we are no longer allowed to add Fair Use photos and so I am requesting one that he currently owns the copyright to and is willing to grant permission for use, under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License.

This means that anyone will have the right to share and, where appropriate, to update his material. You both can read about this license at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GFDL .

The license expressly protects authors "from being considered responsible for modifications made by others" while ensuring that authors get credit for their work. There is more information on our copyright policy at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Copyrights

Thanks for your time. I would appreciate it if you take time from your busy schedule to discuss this with Olamide. We have a Declaration of Consent that is required for me to be able to post. I've attached the consent form below. It seems that dual licensing under GDFL and CC-by-sa-3.0 is preferred. If you guys are able to send the picture as an attachment with the following declaration (please insert date and name at the bottom), I should have no problems posting the image. Thanks again, Your Name

Quantity against Quality

I want to get access rights on Wikipedia and I was told that I needed to create at least 50 articles before I can be considered, I would be very very slow if I waste so much time on one article, so what i wanna know is if this technique would count against me in the long run since they are not comprehensive articles.Darreg (talk) 07:33, 11 February 2014 (UTC)

What kind of rights do you want? Here are all of the access rights one can qualify for: Wikipedia:User access levels You can qualify for some of these rights by your number of edits. Your edit count can climb up many ways. If you're good with categories, you can add and remove categories from articles using hotcat. There are tons of articles that are categorized wrongly. You can join different projects and work on articles collectively with group members. There are lots of things to do on WIkipedia; Wikipedia is like a huge virtual school with different departments. Some people have over 100,000 edits. I can't fathom how they're able to do that. That's a huge number and I don't see myself ever getting there. versace1608 (talk) 15:29, 11 February 2014 (UTC)
FYI: You do not need to waste time on one article. You can create several stub articles. You can create like 5 stub articles in one day and 35 in a week. The only important thing you need to remember is to provide reliable third party sources in order to proof the notability of the subject. versace1608 (talk) 15:33, 11 February 2014 (UTC)

Thanks once again, you are very good at sending the right messages without making one feel down. I am taking a break from Wikipedia for now, I have lost my drive atm. I would be back when the zeal is back. And "no" its not related to anything that happened here. Darreg (talk) 21:06, 11 February 2014 (UTC)

Collaboration

It's good to see you collaborating with other editors and providing leadership and guidance to less-experienced editors. Wikipedia needs more editors with expertise in Africa-related topics. I noticed in a recent edit you told another editor that a third party - presumably someone that an article is about or a person who is otherwise "closely connected" with the article - would be impressed.

This is fine if there is no connection between the editor and this third party. But if there are connections, then Wikipedia:Conflict of interest ("COI") may apply.

Here's an example: If I wrote an article about my high school English teacher who I hadn't spoken to in 20 years, and a classmate of mine said in the abstract "she will be impressed" but what he really meant was "she will be impressed, if she ever happens to read the article," that's fine. If, on the other hand, I'm writing the article on behalf of my former English teacher, or on behalf of someone else who wants an article about her created for his own personal reasons, that would be a "conflict of interest."

As you collaborate, if you sense that others may be editing with "conflicts of interests," please ask them to read and understand Wikipedia's conflict of interest guideline and ask them to use Template:Connected contributor on article talk pages when applicable.

Following the COI guideline and using the "connected contributor" template provides transparency and will reduce the chances that the editors will get into trouble later for unintentionally editing with a non-neutral point of view (see WP:NPOV). Thanks. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 18:38, 11 February 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for the heads up. I haven't suspected Darreg. I'll take action if I suspect anything. versace1608 (talk) 20:05, 11 February 2014 (UTC)

A Confidential and Personal Message from Darreg

The first time i joined Wikipedia I was totally in the dark as regards the rules so I could not really make any meaningful edit or impact so I abandoned my account. A few years down the line I returned and with your assistance and monitoring I was able to be among the few African students in the largest classroom in the world and start things that I believe would outlive me (a privilege am still grateful to you for till this date).

Although this may be a faceless community but I actually grew into trusting you and taking your judgement with high esteem because I felt you gat my back at all times and you always seem very nice. I remember when you once told me that "we are like a family in Wikipedia", Would you report any suspicion you have of your family to the authorities as soon as you think that you notice them? don't you think its better to confront the person first and be certain before taking the necessary action? I understand the fact that there are rules governing Wikipedia about multiple accounts but I can tell you that I have not broken any, that is why I was amazed(and a little dissapointed) that you want to orchestrate my exit(ban) from this wonderful community that I have come to love because of your aid.

And concerning the IP addresses that you want to use against me I actually visit a cyber-cafe very often(a feat common in developing countries) and I have a particular system that I always use when am there so another user might use that same system when am not around.

Please I would appreciate it if you can delete this post as soon as you read it, I want it to be for your eyes alone and I dont want it to be permanent on your talk page.

Thank you Darreg (talk) 08:22, 18 February 2014 (UTC)

You are right in saying that I should have confronted you. You are not right in thinking that I want to orchestrate your exit. I appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia. I actually didn't take this to SPI. I only contacted Davidwr, an experience user who has helped me since I started editing here. I wanted his input. He advice me to leave a message on Seanord's talk page and try to resolve things before taking further action. I guess I was a bit naive in jumping to conclusions. In the note I left on Davidwr's talk page, I said I may be wrong in suspecting you. Seanord has edited similar articles as you and the fact that he left a message on my talk page (days after you told me you were taking a break from WIkipedia) fueled my suspicion. Also, the fact that Seanord's account was created on January 4, 2014 also fueled my suspicion. I am sorry if I didn't come to you before linking you to Seanord. I guess my intuition got the best of me; after all, it's called an intuition for a reason. I will take Davidwr's advice and not go through with filing a case at SPI because I don't have enough. versace1608 (talk) 17:00, 18 February 2014 (UTC)

Finishing up The Headies Article

Hello...I noticed you've suspended your edits on the Headies page for some weeks now, and am guessing that it might be because you've been quite busy of late. I would have loved to assist but I really love and admire the perfection in your work hence my reluctance. I just wanted to ask when you planned on finishing it. Thanks. Darreg (talk) 12:07, 27 February 2014 (UTC)

Greetings Darreg and yes, I will complete them. I have them on my to do list. Feel free to work on them if you would like. I can always improve the referencing and overall look of the articles. I have been working on the Chidinma article for the last few days and I'm glad I was able to complete the article to my satisfaction. versace1608 (talk) 12:12, 27 February 2014 (UTC)

States and union territories of India

Hi, with reference to this your revert, am sorry that i unintentionally made a mistake without noticing the arrow in my revert. Actually some IP's were changing the sub-heading 3.1 from 1956 to 1959 w/o any explanation in edit summary. Also ever since the passage of AP Reorganization Bill, some IP's tend to remove Andhra Pradesh from the list and add Telengana or just simply add telengana. This has been just passed, when it is notified in Gazette of India only, the bill takes effect and comes to force for creation of new state. Hence you may see to that and do relevant changes.   Thank you very much!. --βα£α(ᶀᶅᶖᵵᵶ) 13:39, 27 February 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for the information. I will watchlist this article and keep an eye out for ip editors. versace1608 (talk) 14:07, 27 February 2014 (UTC)

Hi, Versace1608! Thank you for making suggestions for my page, Sanshirō (novel). I added some things, so hopefully it's better now. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Acire93 (talkcontribs) 03:38, 28 February 2014 (UTC)

Greetings Acire93, the Amazon and google book references are not primarily reliable. You need to find independent and secondary references that discuss and report on the book. Also, take a look at WP:REFB to help you with adding the proper citation syntax. versace1608 (talk) 18:54, 28 February 2014 (UTC)

File permission problem with File:Tiwa Savage's studio portrait.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Tiwa Savage's studio portrait.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Magog the Ogre (tc) 03:34, 2 March 2014 (UTC)

Greetings @ @Magog the Ogre:, I forwarded the permission email I received from TCD Photography on February 8, 2014. I just forwarded the email again. I don't understand why you didn't receive it the first time. This is not my first time emailing OTRS. Please check again. versace1608 (talk) 05:37, 2 March 2014 (UTC)

Maintaining Integrity

Hope you had a fab weekend, I did not have internet access during the weekend hence my just replyin now. thanks for the info on printed sources I now understand how integrity would be maintained. Please I wanna know if it's possible to change an edit summary to an article. For example if I summarized my edit on a page as "Added references" can this be edited to something else by me? Darreg (talk) 08:37, 3 March 2014 (UTC)

Greetings Darreg. My weekend was great and sorry about you not having an internet access over the weekend. I don't think that an edit summary can be undone once you've click save. Edit Summaries are considered good practice. For more info on edit summaries, see H:ES. In a sense, everything that happens on WIkipedia is never deleted. If one decides to investigate an article, all they need to do is click on the history tab and go through all of the edits made to that article in excruciating detail. versace1608 (talk) 11:35, 3 March 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for the feedback. I'm highly enlightened and very grateful. Darreg (talk) 14:57, 3 March 2014 (UTC)

Danna (Pakistan)

Hello Versace1608. You may like to review the speedy nomination of Danna (Pakistan) as WP:CSD#A7 does not apply to a geographical entity. -- SMS Talk 02:23, 5 March 2014 (UTC)

I don't think this geographical entity is notable. There's certainly no indication of significance when one reads it. I probably need to add the propose deletion tag and allow the community to discuss it. versace1608 (talk) 02:30, 5 March 2014 (UTC)
(talk page stalker)WP:PROD is basically a "does anyone out there have any objection to deleting this page" - it is not a method to start a discussion. WP:Articles for deletion is used if you think there needs to be a discussion. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 04:11, 6 March 2014 (UTC)
@Davidwr: Can you please take a look at the article and tell me if you think it meets Wikipedia's notability requirements? I made a mistake with the tags and I appreciate the info you've given me. versace1608 (talk) 18:31, 6 March 2014 (UTC)
It looks like it is going to be speedy-deleted as a duplicate of Danna,Bagh, which is itself at AFD. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 21:27, 6 March 2014 (UTC)
@Davidwr: Thanks for taking care of that. versace1608 (talk) 18:04, 8 March 2014 (UTC)
Don't thank me, someone else did the work. I just reported the page's status as of 21:27, 6 March 2014 (UTC). Since the page is now gone, I don't know who deserves the thanks. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 18:20, 8 March 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for reporting the page and thanks to the Wikipedian who deleted it. versace1608 (talk) 18:33, 8 March 2014 (UTC)

Danna (Pakistan)

Hi. I've removed the A7 tag for this article. A7 is only for "real person, individual animal(s), organization, web content or organized events." Danna is a geographical location and does not qualify for A7 deletion.--v/r - TP 07:54, 5 March 2014 (UTC)

@TParis: Thanks for the information. It was a mistake on my end. I will read the full description of the tags I intend to apply to an article from now on. versace1608 (talk) 20:41, 5 March 2014 (UTC)

Updates on Wiki Presence

Good afternoon Versace(am guessing its already Night where you are). How has your day been?

Sometimes I wonder why Wikipedia have some strange rules that makes expansion of articles strenious for Wikipedians...Most Media people(if not all) in Nigeria are always glad to see their works covered comprehensively on Wikipedia but why does wikipedia still make it difficult for editors to use them? I was amazed and shocked when the DVD poster for the Figurine article was removed. And the excuse the reviewer gave was that it was not a nessesary poster, I was really pissed at him. What the Reviewer does not know is that DVD posters of films are even more popular and used than theatrical posters in Nigeria. I feel that a poster like that should only be removed if it negatively contributes to the article. I don't know much about the rules of Wikipedia though.

And I don't like the Idea that I cannot delete some of my Edit and Edit summary on Wikipedia. I guess I have to be more careful then.

Please If you need information as regards Nominations of early editions of The Headies Award dont hesitate to let me know, I might be of help. I would love to join you in The Headies yearly articles now, I noticed you already started with some years in your Sandbox and I was wondering if you need a helping hand

Please is there any Skill/Software or App available to auto-confirmed users that you use on Wikipedia that am not using? if there is please let me know about it.

Please take a look at the AMAA article then tell me what you think. I know a lot of work still needs to be done as regards expansion but I just want to know if my mode of writing is in line with the guidelines of Wikipedia when it comes to film awards before I consider moving forward. I would also appreciate if you could add AMAA to your To-do list catalog.

Darreg (talk) 14:53, 10 March 2014 (UTC)

Greetings Darreg, my day has been good. To answer your first question, I live in the Eastern Standard Time Zone and Nigeria is 5 hours ahead of that. When you're editing Wikipedia in the afternoon, It's early morning here. Technically speaking, 12 am is morning. Wikipedia is a fun place when everyone abides by the policies and procedures outlined by the Wikimedia Foundation. This file File:ThefigurineDVD.jpg is going to be deleted because it is currently not being used in any article. Per WP:IUP, a copyrighted image with a fair use tag has to be deleted if it is not being used in an article. You do not have to feel sad or anything. You or Jamie Tubers need to discuss the image in detail. According to WP:FAIRUSE, copyrighted images need to be the subject of critical commentary within the article in which it is being discussed. If the image is in the public's possession, you guys wouldn't need to include significant commentary. Keep in mind that the article already has File:Thefigurine.jpg being used without "significant commentary". One fair use file is okay, but uploading a second one requires "significant commentary". This is a policy that respects copyright. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously and as editors, we need to abide by the rules. I hope I was able to clear that up for you. You can delete edits you make to an article, but always keep in mind that any and every edit one makes to an article is visible on that article's history page. The same thing goes for edit summaries. I misspelled words when writing in the edit summary box; I wish I could go back in time to a point when I didn't click the save page button. We just have to read over what we write before clicking save. As far as software goes, I use WP:TWINKLE and you might find it helpful. There's also WP:AWB that's useful. I do not use that though. STiki is used to counter vandalism. As far as basic editing, you can always take advantage of WP:HOTCAT and WP:REFLINKS. I am still working on The Headies. If you want to help, you can create articles for the years that currently do not have one. I am currently working on the Headies 2009 and 2010. You can work on years 2006, 2007, and 2008 if you want to. As far as the AMAA article, I think it can be improved. I try to stick to African music; I really do not watch African movies; I am not quite knowledgeable about it. I think you and Jamie need to work together. She is really good with those types of articles. If I finish my To Do List, I can help out with the AMAA. For now, my specialty is music and music related articles.versace1608 (talk) 18:01, 10 March 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for the info on the Gadgets, based on my calculations you should still be in bed by now lol.

I actually know time is lost as you move westwards but I was typing too fast before I discovered my mix-up, I guess its one of the reasons why I need to be more careful before clicking save since you said nothing can ever be deleted completely on Wikipedia.

I understand the fact that you are only into African Music but it's always thrilling and adventurous to go out of your comfort zone at times. Being an active Wikipedian is an unusual deed for me.

Concerning the Image, I guess if the director of the movie gives Wikipedia the go-ahead to publish the image via email it would sort things out. And you should not have blue-linked the image uploader (She might not like it).

I should start immediately on The Headies yearly articles and update you my relevant progress but if you have no problem getting the nominee list I guess I might just leave it for you for now.

Regards... Darreg (talk) 10:04, 11 March 2014 (UTC)

You do not need to freak out about the whole deletion thing. Imagine if we didn't have the option to edit what we save, Wikipedia wouldn't be fun if that was the case. The fact that I can edit an article anytime I see fit is great. My english is not perfect and like many people, I always make grammar and spelling errors. I guess you're just not comfortable with the way Wikipedia retains the history of every article. I think the whole approach of keeping a history page has tons of benefits. 10 or 20 years from now, assuming Wikipedia is still around, It would be great to login and read things I wrote when I was younger. Lmao at your attempt to convince me to start writing movie articles. I do not mind, but there are lots of articles that I need to write. Like I told you yesterday, I will try to help out when I can. If the director of the film releases the image under one of the licenses listed on the Creative Commons licenses page, you guys would be able to upload it. I think Jamie Tubers wouldn't mind me linking the images. Everything on Wikipedia can be link and it's good practice to link the things you're talking about. The only disadvantage I see is that the things one links will forever be link to their talk page. When I archive this talk page, It will still be available in my archive. I had to link the images in order to make sure I'm talking about the right images. I completed the Headies 2009 article yesterday. You can do years 2006, 2007, and 2008. versace1608 (talk) 14:08, 11 March 2014 (UTC)
  • Versace, I'm not a 'she'. Darreg, why are you bothered about the image? The removal was right! And the image deletion is in good cause :)--Jamie Tubers (talk) 01:32, 12 March 2014 (UTC)
I'm sorry about calling you a girl when you are actually a guy. Your username is "Jamie" and the template on your talk page states "This user doesn't archive his talk page, he deletes old conversations that have been concluded." These two things are conflicting. I should have asked questions, or better still, added He/She. I'm sorry about that. I know it's not right to mix up people's gender. In my Igbo voice, biko. versace1608 (talk) 01:37, 12 March 2014 (UTC)
Grammatical errors is just one of my reasons and not the major reason, the same way you have memories you want to completely erase from your mind that is how I would love to completely erase some edits from my Wikipedia history but I guess I can't do anything about that now. I always knew Jamie was a guy he sounds too assertive and energetic for a lady. And I rest my case as regards the image. I give up lol. Thanks guyz.

Darreg (talk) 08:08, 12 March 2014 (UTC)

Darreg (talk) 08:08, 12 March 2014 (UTC)

You knew that and you didn't tell me? What kind of friend are you? I don't know if you, but if you can indent by adding an extra colon from the pervious, that will make everything smooth. Take a look at WP:INDENT and this section of my talk page Danna (Pakistan). versace1608 (talk) 08:24, 12 March 2014 (UTC)
How does it look now? lol
lol much better. you forgot to sign. versace1608 (talk) 09:00, 12 March 2014 (UTC)
  • Lol, It's cool Versace :). It was just a correction, no offence taken.--Jamie Tubers (talk) 14:05, 12 March 2014 (UTC)

Your GA nomination of Wizkid (musician)

The article Wizkid (musician) you nominated as a good article has failed  ; see Talk:Wizkid (musician) for reasons why the nomination failed. If or when these points have been taken care of, you may apply for a new nomination of the article. Message delivered by Legobot, on behalf of Versace1608 -- Versace1608 (talk) 19:41, 11 March 2014 (UTC)

Gender

"Jamie" can be a boy's name. I knew an American born in the late '60s or early '70s with that name. There was a fictional male character named Jamie McCrimmon, but to be fair, he was "born" in the 18th century. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 03:19, 12 March 2014 (UTC)

lol. I totally forgot about that. I googled the name Jamie and realized that there's a famous actor named Jamie Foxx. I apologized to him. I should have just said he/she. When I hear the name Jamie, my mind automatically thinks of a girl like Jamie Lynn Spears, the younger sister of Britney. I personally don't like the fact that there are unisex names. It confuses things. versace1608 (talk) 06:57, 12 March 2014 (UTC)
Davidwr must be pretty old.....1960 ke......I would have guessed the age bracket of many Wikipedians would not exceed 30 until now. Darreg (talk) 08:02, 12 March 2014 (UTC)
@Darreg: I don't think so. He said that he knew an American born in the late 60s or early 70s. This doesn't imply that he was born in 1960. Lmao. Don't try to guess Davidwr's date of birth like I try guessing Jamie Tubers' gender. versace1608 (talk) 08:12, 12 March 2014 (UTC)

Minor updates on AMAA Article

I have free-linked actors, actresses, films and other relevant articles I deem fit on the page as you said and I also ensured that I do that only once. Kindly take a look at it. Darreg (talk) 13:24, 12 March 2014 (UTC)

Blood Diamond Controversy

I know you told me you don't know much about African films but this is more about a Wikipedian trying to know what kind of information is eligible for Wikipedia. A renowned Nigeria film maker Teco Benson directed a film titled Blood Diamond years before the Hollywood version, I can remember listening to a live interview on National Radio (97.7 Metro FM) some years ago after he got honoured by the Federal Government(MFR) when he was lamenting that his intellectual property(Same story line, same title, etc) was being used unjustly and he also said he was sad that he was not even contacted before the Hollywood version. I am about to include something on this on Teco Benson's page but because of the controversial nature of the topic I just felt you should know first and tell me what you think. I know the Radio interview would not be sufficient for Wikipedia standard and since you always ask for links and sources before anything, here is an interview he did sometime ago where the issue was briefly discussed. http://www.nigeriafilms.com/news/4271/16/blood-diamonds-hollywood-stole-my-movie-title-teco.html

Darreg (talk) 12:57, 15 March 2014 (UTC)

You should leave a note on the talk page of the article. If you do not get a response from someone in the upcoming days, you can add the controversial section to the article. If you can find a better source than Nigeria films, that will be great. You should target Newspaper articles in this particular case. Per Wikipedia's WP:NPOV policy, articles on Wikipedia must be written from a neutral point of view. I hope I was able to be of help. versace1608 (talk) 15:46, 15 March 2014 (UTC)
Thanks you were incredibly helpful. Darreg (talk) 17:25, 15 March 2014 (UTC)

The Headies Winners

Hi, I really think renaming Category:The Headies winners to Category:The Headies Award winners will be much more appropriate. Stanleytux (talk) 13:39, 17 March 2014 (UTC)

Never mind. I understand why it was named in that fashion. Stanleytux (talk) 13:49, 17 March 2014 (UTC)
@Stanleytux: I actually contacted another user and requested that the category name be change. The title you came up with sounds very good. I came up with "Winners of the Headies". I'll add your suggestion to the note I left on the guy's talk page. versace1608 (talk)
@Stanleytux: Update: I made a request for the category name to be change at WP:CFDS. They may choose your title or mine's. versace1608 (talk) 21:27, 17 March 2014 (UTC)
@Stanleytux: Another update: The request to change the name of the category was declined based on the convention in Category:Music award winners and Category:The Headies. I guess we're stuck with the current name. versace1608 (talk) 21:43, 17 March 2014 (UTC)
It's ok, the main article name has to match the category names anyway. I think that's what's appropriate. Stanleytux (talk) 21:50, 17 March 2014 (UTC)

REFLINKS

You may want to read WP:REFLINKS. It's a useful tool. Also, one of the links on Olamide is temporarily or permanently down. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 19:05, 19 March 2014 (UTC)

@Davidwr: I'm familiar with reflinks. It's great! I wasn't the one who created the article. I only edited it and corrected few things. I did create two of the artist's album articles. I remember adding an under construction template to the article, and you were going to get me block, lol. I will look into the link and will replace it with something reliable. There are loads of information that can be added to the article. When I find time, I will write a draft in my sandbox. Thanks for helping out with the article. versace1608 (talk) 19:20, 19 March 2014 (UTC)
Given how mature the existing article is, it would probably be best to edit it in place, making changes one section at a time, rather than use a sandbox. The only reason I can think of to use a sandbox is if you planned to "re-factor" the article, making the existing section labels irrelevant. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 19:25, 19 March 2014 (UTC)
I try to write articles in my sandbox before moving it to mainspace. I just feel that it helps me out. I totally agree with you're saying. versace1608 (talk) 19:44, 19 March 2014 (UTC)

Apology

You are an editor I look up to on Wikipedia and I always respect your opinion and views at all times whether its convenient or not. but I don't think I have done or said anything wrong here. I did not use any vulgar/foul term on the Wikipedian. To be frank for a moment I was even thinking that the apology was meant to go the other way. If you can explain to me where i said anything that was insulting or derogatory and is deserving of an apology it would make it easier for me to tender an apology and perhaps in the long run better my understanding on how Wikipedia guidelines and code of conduct works. thank you. Darreg (talk) 22:04, 19 March 2014 (UTC)

You didn't insult him. I just felt that you got very emotional when you realized that the article got nominated for deletion. The way you responded may give other people the wrong impression. When I read your response, it felt like you were daring him to block you. You shouldn't worry to too much about this; this particularly article won't get deleted. It meets Wikipedia's requirements for notability. There are more important things to worry about than allowing the comments of one user get to you. I used to be that way before. When I first started editing here, I used to get mad at other editors for disagreeing with me. This is life bro, not everyone will agree with you. Wikipedia is not any different from real life. versace1608 (talk) 22:12, 19 March 2014 (UTC)
Thanks. I love everything that I know about you (ur thoughts, edits and guidance). You are obviously the best thing that has happened to me since I joined Wikipedia. And speaking of real life I am very certain we would really get along if we should meet in real life. I am short of words to appreciate you. #NoHomo #AmStraight...Goodnight bro(WAT) Darreg (talk) 22:53, 19 March 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for your kind words. And about the "no homo" comment, I do not discriminate bro. I'm not like the Nigerian government, LMAO. I just hard to throw that in. versace1608 (talk) 23:23, 19 March 2014 (UTC)

Davido's alma mater

Hi, versace1608. Thanks for cautioning me on my recent edits. After confirming the inline citations to Davido's alma mater on his biographical article, I learnt that he actually did not graduate from Oakwood University. His graduate status from Babcock University remains unclear. However, my reasons for including Davido in the alumni categories of Oakwood and Babcock Universities were based on the fact that he was a former student who attended the institutions. An alumnus may not necessarily have graduated from an institution, but must have attended the institution for a significant period of time.

@Eruditescholar: I will add those categories back to the article. Sorry for removing them. I just looked up the definition. When people speak of alumni, they mostly speak of people who graduated from a school. I didn't know that former students of an educational institution qualify as alumni. versace1608 (talk) 13:10, 22 March 2014 (UTC)

Edits made to the P-Square article

Because of Wikipedia's WP:3RR, I can't revert your edit. You need to stop making unconstructive edits to the P-Square article. I appreciate the info you added, but you must add the info at the end of the sentence in the personal life section. You do not have the right to add that anywhere you please. This is a violation of Wikipedia's WP:MOS. I will remove the contents you added later. Assuming that no one else edits the article, I will revert the edits you made and make the article look neater again. If you somehow come back and undo my edit, your IP address can get block from editing. versace1608 (talk) 00:17, 25 March 2014 (UTC)

Who are you talking to in that manner? Who says my edits are unconstructive? I added info and it is sourced. Who says the info must be added at the end? WP isn't yours nor mine, it is ours. Do not remove the content as it is factual and sourced. Look neater? What are you talking about look neater? If you undo my edit I will get you blocked. You do not own the article. 172.243.128.84 (talk) 05:32, 25 March 2014 (UTC)

@172.243.128.84: Lmao. Since when did Linda Ikeji and Instagram become reliable sources? You are right, no one has ownership of the article. However, you are wrong about your actions. You should try and get me block, let's see how that will go. I will remove the Linda Ikeji and Instagram sources you added to the article, and will tweak the personal life section of the article. versace1608 (talk) 13:55, 25 March 2014 (UTC)

Linda Ikeja is a journalist. Bellanaija was the sanctioned blog to report on the wedding. 172.243.128.84 (talk) 18:18, 25 March 2014 (UTC)

@172.243.128.84: Linda Ikeji is a notable journalist, no doubt about that. However, blogs are not reliable sources. Linda Ikeji's blog cannot be consider a reliable source because it is a self publish source. See WP:SELFPUBLISH for more info. Not all blogs fail notability though. Some websites have blogs, and those blogs are reliable. In the case of Paul Okoye's traditional wedding, there were numerous reliable newspapers that reported on the event. Why should one use Linda Ikeji's blog when newspaper sources like the Osun Defender and Sowetan reported on the event? Wikipedia itself is not a reliable source (see: WP:WINARS). However, every Wikipedia article should have reliable sources that establishes the subject's notability. Without reliable sources, the fate of every article on Wikipedia hangs in the balance. Bellanaija is more than a blog. They started off as a blog in 2006, but has since transformed. Their website is here and their blog site is here. Also, Bellanaija is a notable source because the website has an editorial team. As Wikipedian editors, we must add reliable sources to the articles we edit.

Need your input on Article for Creationist Walter Veith

Versace, I need your help on this article https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walter_Veith As it needs work to keep it from being deleted from Wikipedia. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Simbagraphix (talk)

Also if could get your input on this related article for Amazing Discoveries....https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amazing_Discoveries
....Thanks.Simbagraphix (talk)
@Simbagraphix: I took a look at the articles. The Walter Veith article is lacking significant coverage in independent sources. Most of the sources cited are primary sources. I think that you need to find reliable newspaper sources to establish neutrality as well as notability. Also, the article needs additional verification because it is missing several WP:IC. I personally think that the Veith article is notable enough to have a stand alone article. As for the second article, I feel that it should be merge into the first for the time being. When reliable independent sources become available, it will be notable enough to have a stand alone article. versace1608 (talk) 13:05, 25 March 2014 (UTC)
I will work on it, thanks for the response. Simbagraphix (talk)
@Simbagraphix: You're welcome. I hope you find reliable third party sources that are independent of the subject. Goodluck. versace1608 (talk) 21:36, 25 March 2014 (UTC)

Report what you want but if you are looking for a fight I suggest you go somewhere else I am not edit warring in Ghana and have never have. 3RR does not apply to making corrections or fixing the page. I have made 2 edits on the cinema of Nigeria. So if you want to tag team with your friend and threaten me for my contributions then go ahead. Thesunshinesate (talk) 15:26, 29 March 2014 (UTC)

You and User:Jamie Tubers have been edit warring the Ghana article. You undid someone's revision in this edit, and Jamie Tubers undid your revision in this edit. You were not satisfied and undid Tubers' edit in this edit. All of this was done in less than 24 hours. This is a clear example of edit warring.

@Davidwr: Can you please get an adminstrator to block Thesunshinesate? I really think he/she needs to be block temporarily for edit warring the Ghana article. The user also left personal attack comments on Tubers' talk page in this edit. versace1608 (talk) 15:44, 29 March 2014 (UTC)

That comment has been disputed since 2013 me and several others have worked very hard on the article to make it neutral..claiming international accounts of corruption with no proof and adding references from entertainment sites in an anti government rant is not something that is suppose to be in an wiki article. Those sources are not even approved based on wikis standards, What is your reason for trying to come against me? Because the other editor is your friend you can fish around to get people to get me blocked all you want. you can not bully people from contributingThesunshinesate (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 15:50, 29 March 2014 (UTC)

@Versace1608: (sorry if the indentation looks like I'm replying to Thesunshinestate, I'm not) Wikipedia has long-established dispute-resolution procedures. Neither you nor the other parties in this dispute need my permission or assistance to use these procedures.
As with disputes "in real life," it is better to resolve the dispute among yourselves before seeking outside help, and it is better to seek outside advice from other editors of that article or from related WikiProjects than to seek a "forced solution" from an administrator.
Administrators are not in the habit of sanctioning individuals "on request" - on the contrary, once they get involved in a dispute it's their job to see all sides and admonish or sanction editors based on all relevant conduct, including conduct not initially reported. This sometimes results in the party seeking redress being admonished or sanctioned instead of or in addition to the party initially accused of wrongdoing.
In other words, before you call in for administrator help, check all your relevant edits on articles related to the one in question and all relevant interaction with other editors who are parties to this dispute or who edit the articles in question, and if there is anything in any of your edits that any other party might question, either apologize ahead of time or if you think the edits are okay, at least admit to yourself that the parties who might question those edits might have a point, and be prepared for an administrator to admonish or sanction you over the edits if he agrees that the edits were problematic.
One thing you or any other editor can do without inviting an administrator to investigate your and other editors' conduct is to start a discussion on the talk page asking if editors will agree to not change the disputed content for the duration of any dispute resolution, and/or if there is a consensus to ask for "full page protection" of the article pending the outcome of any dispute resolution. Even if there is no consensus to request full page protection, you or any other editor can still go to WP:Requests for page protection and ask for protection until the dispute is resolved. Just be prepared for the "wrong" (from your point of view) version to be protected.
Again, it would be best if I stayed out of this discussion. While I would generally make a good "neutral third opinion" or even a halfway-decent "neutral editor" on most Africa-related topics as I don't edit in those areas much, I would not be able to maintain neutrality if the dispute included an editor who I had previously had significant interactions with. Since I've had significant interactions with you (Versace1608), I'm going to ask you not to ask me to intervene in any disputes where a neutral party is needed. For clear-cut "the other editor is wrong" issues (e.g. repeated vandalism), please go directly to the relevant WP:Administrator's noticeboard. About the only thing I can help you with regarding disputes would be questions along the line of "I think I'm right in this matter, but you (user:Davidwr) are more well-versed in this policy - can I ask you if I'm right in this matter or not?" If you want me to review whether YOU are right in this dispute from a policy/guideline perspective, ask. But don't reference my saying you are correct when you seek help from others, because we both could be wrong. But if I (or for that matter any other more-experienced editor who you respect enough to ask) think you are incorrect, then that's a good sign that either you are incorrect or your respect in me (or whatever editor you ask) may be mis-placed. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 17:27, 29 March 2014 (UTC)
@Davidwr: Thanks for the extensive reply. Jamie Tubers already took the complaint to WP:AN/I. I just wanted an administrator to look in to this as quickly as possible. The user Thesunshinesate cannot be reason with. I try explaining Wikipedia's policies on their talk page, but to no avail. I know that administrators are not in the habit of sanctioning individuals based "on request". In my personal view, it will be very hard for any administrator to go against my claim. The user's edit history clearly shows that he/she has been edit warring and carrying out personal attacks. versace1608 (talk) 17:58, 29 March 2014 (UTC)

Headies 2006

I am finding it difficult retrieving the nominee list for Headies 2006 from my archive. I don't know how we are gonna finish all sections without that info now. I personally do not like incomplete articles. Darreg (talk) 11:58, 31 March 2014 (UTC)

@Darreg: There's no need for an article to be created on the Headies 2006. We can create a section in the main article and state the winners. versace1608 (talk) 20:57, 31 March 2014 (UTC)
Ok bro. I think that should do for now. Darreg (talk) 21:09, 31 March 2014 (UTC)

If someone had told me 5 months ago that I would be an active Wikipedian in 2014, I would have said Manchester United would win the Premiership in return but right now I have discovered so many reasons why I should remain active (at least for now) and you are very instrumental to that effect. Good improvements you've made to The Headies and other African music related article. Darreg (talk) 14:51, 3 April 2014 (UTC)

The Meeting

Please take a look at my plot summary for the first 29 minutes of The Meeting (film) and tell me what you think about the tone and destination of the writeup. So you know, in case it sucks Its actually my first time writing something like this. I know its not your field and I was even waiting for User:Jamie Tubers review but I guess he is pretty occupied these days since he has not made any edit in a while hence my directing it to you. I don't have any previous knowledge on plot summaries so pardon me if it's wack. Darreg (talk) 08:54, 9 April 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. Plot sections should follow chronological order. I will read what you wrote and make necessary copy edit corrections to it. My english is not perfect, and errors may still exist in the section after I look at it. If Tubers comes back soon and reads it, he can make edits to the article as he sees fit. I appreciate you taking the time to write a plot section. When I watch the movie, I will write a plot and compare it to yours. I may be able to add to the section, or subtract from it. Clarion Chukwura

I actually planned on expanding the article more in due time, I left so many things out and tried to concentrate on the most important. I actually never knew they were related until recently. I am currently having a civil disagreement regarding the age of Tamara Eteimo on its talk page. Since you are very familiar with both me and User_Talk:‎Stanleytux, I don't think it is against Wikipedia guidelines if you drop a comment on the talk page, your input will be much appreciated (at least from my end). Darreg (talk) 20:50, 5 May 2014 (UTC)

Going by wikipedia's standard in terms of reliability, there is nothing on that BON website that can be considered to be more accurate and reliable than the The Tide which is a notable news media in Nigeria. By the way, how are we sure that BON is a magazine in Nigeria. Has this mag received any significant coverage in reliable sources? The website doesn't even say anything about it being a magazine on its About section and even if it did it still won't matter without two or three significant independent coverage by reliable medias. Can't sit and just talk, he needs to support his claims with reliable sources. Stanleytux (talk) 21:37, 5 May 2014 (UTC)
@Stanleytux: Please visit the talk page of the article. You two may be wrong, and I may be right. Versace1608 (Talk) 21:39, 5 May 2014 (UTC)

Wikilinking

Hi, and thanks for your work on the English Wikipedia.

I noticed an article you worked on. Just a short note to point out that we don’t normally link:

  • dates
  • years
  • commonly known geographical terms (including well-known country-names), and
  • common terms you’d look up in a dictionary (unless significantly technical).

This applies to infoboxes, too.

Thanks, and my best wishes.

Tony (talk) 09:48, 14 May 2014 (UTC)

@Tony1: Thanks for the heads up. I will avoid overlinking infoboxes. I used reflinks to cite the entire article, and that's why the dates you corrected were in that format. Versace1608 (Talk) 11:56, 14 May 2014 (UTC)
Versace, you're very welcome. Tony (talk) 12:26, 14 May 2014 (UTC)

Davido & Babcock

Hello. I can state authoritatively that Davido is still a Backcock University Student and he is due for graduation this year (even though he has been to classes only once this semester). To the best of my knowledge about the meaning of an Alumni, it should only apply to people that at a time attended a university but are no longer a student. If someone is still a student that person CANNOT also be an alumni at the same time. I suggest that if you cannot find any source that claims that he has dropped out or that he has graduated then he should be removed as an alumni of the school. thanks. Darreg (talk) 11:30, 27 April 2014 (UTC)

@Darreg: You need to provide a source that authoritatively states that Davido still attends Babcock Univeristy. When Eruditescholar added the "Babcock University alumni" category to the article, I removed it and left a note on his talk page. I thought that alumni only meant students who graduated. I didn't know that alumni applied to former students of an educational institution. Davido has been focus on music for a while. Does he have time to balance his career and school? In an interview, he said that he was taking classes part time at Babcock. That interview was conducted a year or two ago. Versace1608 (Talk)
  • I think the Babcock alumni category should be removed, since there's a source that confirms he attends the school but there's no source that confirms that he graduated or dropped out. It shouldn't be assumed or speculated.--Jamie Tubers (talk) 11:28, 17 May 2014 (UTC)
I will remove it, but let me add that the MTV Base reference currently being used as a source in the article was written years ago. I watched an interview he did with Factory 78 TV, where he said that he is currently taking part time classes at Babcock. That interview was conducted two years ago. I doubt that he is still taking classes at Babcock. Davido has been touring and performing all over the place. He has been putting out big hits. I don't know how someone can do all that and still find time to take part time classes. I also asked Darreg to provide a source to support his claim of Davido's upcoming walk down the academia aisle. Versace1608 (Talk) 11:46, 17 May 2014 (UTC)
  • You are very right! But by wiki standards, we cannot assume for him. Wizkid dropped out of school and it was all over the media...if Davido doesn't wanna make his school issh a public knowledge, then so be it. It's better if his article rather not mention anything about his school, since we are not sure of anything YET. And to think the info is being disputed by one or more editor(s), then it's better removed. You did well!--Jamie Tubers (talk) 20:19, 17 May 2014 (UTC)
I concur with your statements. One more thing, I remember leaving a note on Eruditescholar's talk page when he added the category to the article. I removed it from the article, but decided to add it back to the article because I misunderstood the meaning of alumni. Anyways, I'm glad that this has been resolved. Versace1608 (Talk) 22:33, 17 May 2014 (UTC)
  • Just in case of next time, remember to insert the link to the revision of this page in the edit summary for anyone who would want to revert your edit to also see the consensus.--Jamie Tubers (talk) 11:27, 18 May 2014 (UTC)

Wikipedia Translations

While working on Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Film I noticed that the French Wikipedia alone contained several articles that I wanted to Wikilink, I am just wondering why there are no bots that translates these articles to English since notability is constant across all languages. Darreg (talk) 12:10, 22 May 2014 (UTC)

If there is a french version for this article, you can link it to this article by clicking the add link option under Languages. As far as translations goes, most web browsers give users the option to translate articles that are not in English. I know for a fact that translating an article and copying/pasting the translated content to create the same article in a different language is not permitted on Wikipedia. Every article on Wikipedia ought to be written from scratch. Versace1608 (Talk) 12:31, 22 May 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for the information on the translation policy, it was REALLY REALLY helpful. Darreg (talk) 08:30, 23 May 2014 (UTC)

Category:year of song.

The text reads, "Songs written or first produced in XXXX." Not first released. I am not going to revert you, but if you want to reconsider. Cheers. --Richhoncho (talk) 16:38, 24 May 2014 (UTC)

Soliciting comment...

Hi! Would you care to review or comment/vote (support/oppose) at my FA nomination for the article New York Dolls (album)? Information on reviewing an FA nomination's criteria is available at WP:FACR. If not, feel free to ignore this message. Cheers! Dan56 (talk) 04:10, 30 May 2014 (UTC)

@Dan56: Greetings Dan56, thanks for reaching out. I have never reviewed any article on Wikipedia. Please gave me a day or two to read the article and leave an input on its talk page. I'd love to review the album article, but can't because my focus is on creating articles. I probably will dedicate time to reviewing in the near future. Versace1608 (Talk) 10:32, 30 May 2014 (UTC)

Images in infoboxes

The |image_size= parameter in templates based on Template:Infobox person should normally be left blank. See Template:Infobox person/doc#Parameters for details. I have restored Iyanya's |image_size= to blank. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 03:50, 31 May 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for the information. I added the image size parameter because for some odd reason, the size of the image was reduced. I noticed this yesterday. I don't know if Wikipedia is updating the look of the infobox. Looks like things are back to normal now. Versace1608 (Talk) 04:03, 31 May 2014 (UTC)

Updates on MAMA Awards

I noticed how spontaneous you were in updating the winners of the MAMA Awards, I am just curious, is there MTV Base in the US? or does the worldwide MTV also show the MAMA Awards? because I know it was not streamed online. Darreg (talk) 07:17, 8 June 2014 (UTC)

I didn't watch the MAMAs. There's no MTV Base in America, and the MTV in the states didn't show it. I was basically using updates from Twitter to update the article. If you saw the awards, can you help fill out the song section. I know that Miguel performed his hit "Adorn", and Davido performed "Aye". I also saw pictures of Ladysmith Black Mambazo performing. Apart from these three, I don't know who else performed. I hope the awards were organized in terms of starting on time. We don't utilize time in Africa very well. I've read articles where people complained about The Headies and Ghana Music Awards. Versace1608 (Talk) 09:57, 8 June 2014 (UTC)
You really missed o. In terms of organisation it was the best award show I have watched in a very long time. SA always gets it right in organizing events. I was too carried away by the thrills of the show and I don't think I can even remember all the people that performed but the high point of the performances for me was when a group of traditional vocalist remixed Dbanj's Oliver Twist song. Dbanj also had a duet with Trey Songz. I also know Klhoe Kardashian accompanied her boo French Montana to SA for his performance. By next week, there will be many articles on the show all over the internet. By then we should be able to get verified information on the performances. Darreg (talk) 13:02, 8 June 2014 (UTC)
