Your username and a conflict of interest issue edit

  Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "Timrazzall", may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because your recent edit to the Tim Razzall, Baron Razzall article suggest that you may be the subject of that article.. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may ask for a change of username by completing this form, or you may simply create a new account for editing. Thank you.

  Hello, Timrazzall. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about in the article Tim Razzall, Baron Razzall, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies.

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Your edit to Jane Bonham Carter, Baroness Bonham-Carter of Yarnbury raises the same issue. Verbcatcher (talk) 02:31, 14 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hi, my note concerning your username may be inappropriate. If you are Baron Razzall then it is acceptable for use to use the username Timrazzall, see WP:REALNAME. I would encourage you to reveal your identity on your user page, but that does not appear to be be obligatory. You may need to prove who you are by sending an email from an official email address.
If you are not Baron Tim Razzall then you should not use this username (unless you are a different person named Tim Razzall, in which case you should declare this clearly on your user page).
My note about the conflict of interest issue stands. However if these were COI edits then it is to your credit that you made them from a username that indicated who you were, rather than making them anonymously.
I apologise for the confusion. Regards, Verbcatcher (talk) 18:38, 14 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

House of Lords Expenses edit

Hi, I am going to restore the paragraphs you deleted concerning House of Lords expenses, but I will add a citation of a Guardian article and use the past tense about the controversial expenses claims, as they are presumably no longer being made. If you are 'the' Tim Razzell then I suggest you read Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons#Dealing with articles about yourself. If you know of any mainstream media reports that add to this issue then please add a link to them at Talk:Tim Razzall, Baron Razzall, or put a note on my talk page.
