RE: Vandalism

I haven't been up to my old tricks since I came back, and I haven't hardly edited at all! So could you please outline such pages which have been supossingly vandalised by me. And can I remind you to use that word cautiously, because it's unfair with the messages you have lambasted me with since I came back, with no such reason . I also have no intention of putting the UK back into any page! But it shows the lack of respect of the union, consensus or not. I also do not appreciate your derogatory tone. Gary. GaryFG8125 (talk) 23:13, 2 January 2016 (UTC)

Replied on your talk page. This is Paul (talk) 23:25, 2 January 2016 (UTC)
Adding here because user deleted reply:
How about this one, which you made today, several days after you returned from your block. Nobody's showing a lack of respect to the union. If anything you're showing a lack of respect towards the consensus of Wikipedia, an encyclopedia that is a collaborative effort where people discuss things without being tendentious. Now please learn to edit constructively, or just go away. This is Paul (talk) 23:22, 2 January 2016 (UTC)

Listen, I will never add it again! Now leave me alone.....

Sigh...it never rains but it pours. This is Paul (talk) 23:43, 2 January 2016 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited 2016 in British television, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page National Geographic. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Sian Blake

Regarding your edit at 21:45, 10 January 2016 on Sian Blake, surely it is original research stating that she was believed to have been killed in December? I know it is fairly obvious she was most likely killed in December but she could have been killed in January nonetheless. We have no sources that would contradict that as of now, so I would recommend leaving her date of death being December 2015/ January 2016, unless you have any evidence that she was believed to have been killed in 2015.Theoosmond (talk) 17:38, 11 January 2016 (UTC)

I went on to replace it with circa, which is what we usually do when we're unsure of birth/death dates. I suppose it's always possible she was alive until early January, but it would seem unlikely. However I've no objection if you want to reinstate your version. One thing we can be certain of is that she was 43 at the time of her death, since there are plenty of references that give her age. This is Paul (talk) 23:26, 11 January 2016 (UTC)
OK, cheers.Theoosmond (talk) 17:54, 12 January 2016 (UTC)

Apology to Dude dont delete my comments

Apologies my error. While multitasking and putting back my comment that had most probably been accidentally deleted by Dtellett ... I did not actually delete your comment .... but actually repeated in error Dtellett comment that you had replied to, after your comment. Doh! that was clumsey stupid. My screen is jumping about. Could you, me or someone remove the two comments that got repeated and our comments regarding your comments regarding the deletion that did not really happen. Sorry my mess.-- BOD -- 21:30, 1 February 2016 (UTC)

No worries, I make mistakes all the while, usually every time I'm on here. Have fun. This is Paul (talk) 22:00, 1 February 2016 (UTC)
Should we remove it?-- BOD -- 23:26, 1 February 2016 (UTC)
Now it's my turn to apologise as I see stuff got duplicated. I would think it would be ok to remove it. This is Paul (talk) 23:29, 1 February 2016 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Amy Scobee

The article Amy Scobee has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Notability questioned a week ago and no reply

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. There is a policy discussion in progress at the Manual of Style which affects the capitalization of "Someone like You", a question in which you previously participated. Please participate on that page and not in this talk page section. Thank you. — LlywelynII 17:08, 12 February 2016 (UTC)

Sara Bareiles

Hi Paul Can you please explain why did you revert my edits on adding to Sara Bareilles personal life section? Thanks Andy — Preceding unsigned comment added by Andkir1 (talkcontribs) 15:09, 13 February 2016 (UTC)

The subject of partners or children is mentioned only if the person actually has one or the other, or both, of course. Unless there's a specific reason why she doesn't, like she doesn't want children and has stated that publicly, then it's pointless mentioning it in her article. Removing well-sourced information

Dear This is Paul the information which I posted about Kevin Stewart was supported by a reference to a speech by him in the Scottish Parliament, and I included a link which could be used to find it. So I think you should perhaps have looked more carefully at that one before removing it. For convenience of the users, I will add this link, which goes directly to his speech in the Parliament's Official Report, which is the equivalent of Hansard at Westminster: http://www.scottish.parliament.uk/parliamentarybusiness/report.aspx?r=9521&i=85627&c=1715455&s= .

Likewise the information about Jackie Kay was supported by an interview with her in the Guardian, and I included a link to that interview, so I think you should have looked at that more carefully before removing it. LGBTI Pride Scotland (talk) 06:28, 27 February 2016 (UTC)

MPs voting records

Hi, I'm new but not a bot, I update fast is all; the site stopped letting me reference. I've revised the wording. Is there a problem with: 'In 2016, {subject} voted for the proposals contained in the Welfare Reform and Work Bill.' ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ariesavatar1985 (talkcontribs) 15:51, 10 March 2016 (UTC)

Moonshine (Savage song)

Having added Category:Songs about the Moon, please can you explain why? The article is silent on what the lyrics are about and "moonshine" can have other meanings. Cheers. --Richhoncho (talk) 22:11, 19 March 2016 (UTC)

Yeah, I just went through every song with the word "moon" in the title and added the category. I'm not familiar with the song so must confess to not knowing whether it is moon related. This is Paul (talk) 22:20, 19 March 2016 (UTC)
Quote from WP:CAT, The central goal of the category system is to provide navigational links to all Wikipedia pages in a hierarchy of categories which readers, knowing essential—defining—characteristics of a topic, can browse and quickly find sets of pages on topics that are defined by those characteristics.2 (my bold). I hope that makes some sense to you. --Richhoncho (talk) 22:24, 19 March 2016 (UTC)
Fair enough. On a wider note I won't lose any sleep if you want to revert these or open a discussion at WP:CFD. Most of the songs listed there are not specifically "about" the moon, more that they happen to mention it or discuss it in some way in the lyrics. Any thoughts over and above policy? This is Paul (talk) 22:27, 19 March 2016 (UTC)
A discussion on this topic is now open here, and with it the terrible realisation dawns that this is almost two hours of my life I'll never get back. At least I was multi-tasking and watching this at the time. This is Paul (talk) 22:59, 19 March 2016 (UTC)

Dashes

Good on you for fixing dashes. If you are using the script a lot, would you mind either manually dropping the case of "Present", or maybe suggest to the developer that this be included in the script? Lower case "present" has recently been added to the MOS. Schwede66 21:44, 20 March 2016 (UTC)

Yeah, no problem, I'm happy to do that. I'll find out who created it and give them a shout, but change it manually in the meantime. Cheers, This is Paul (talk) 22:10, 20 March 2016 (UTC)

Amanda Solloway article

I do not agree with your removal of my Amanda Solloway edits. The article about her was a stub before I started editing it. Mitzi

Hi, and what about Mitzi? Mitzi Gaynor is now located in both articles (Mizzi too). Kelvin (talk) 22:56, 26 March 2016 (UTC)

Yeah, I didn't spot that one. It seems more sensible to link the two disambiguation pages from each other, so I've done that instead. The two people mentioned in the see also section of Mizzi should really be incorporated into the page itself. I'm about to log off for the night, but can always do this tomorrow, unless you wanted to have a go. I promise not to revert you again. This is Paul (talk) 00:53, 27 March 2016 (UTC)

Weronika Rosati

Hi, I have written about this to other editors already. I am in the process of expanding this article and I need your help. I started to write about a lawsuit that this actress has filed and I find it really difficult to write about it, becuase English is not my first language and when it comes to use specialist terminology I struggle, so I hope that you can help me. I have written everything myslef and all I need you to do for me is to read it through and simply correct my mistakes, grammar, punctuation etc., I'll be grateful. Thanks in advance.

"In 2010, Andrzej Żuławski, with whom Rosati was in a relationship, released a journal called Nocnik. One of the characters included in the book, a girl named Esther, was allegedly based on the actress. In 2010, Rosati filed a lawsuit against Żuławski and the book's publisher and claimed 200 000 PLN, public apology for the invasion of her privacy and the deprivation of her dignity as a woman, and to stop the violation of her personal rights by removing parts of the book on her person from its further releases or completely withdrawing the book from sale. In February 2014, Żuławski and the book's publisher have been ordered by the district court in Warsaw, to pay 100 000 PLN to Rosati and release a public apology for the possibility of associating the actress with the book's fictional character and therefore assigning her abusive and false features. However, the judge believed that because the book has already been sold out before the prohibiton orders have been issued, the offence has already taken place, so withdrawing the book from sale wouldn't have made any difference. After being charged, the defendants launched an appeal. However, in May 2015 they lost the appeal and the verdict from February 2014 has been upheld by the appeal court in Warsaw."

Wikibreak

Back at last. Had to take my computer back to the shop I bought it from to get them to look at it. The system was freezing up after a few hours of use, making it impossible to move the cursor at times. The only way to make it usable again was to hit the restart button. According to the retailer, my problem was apparently being caused by a piece of software called BT Desktop Help, which they have deleted. So far so good, everything seems back to normal.
