Barnstar

  The Minor Barnstar
For all your work reverting vandalism, and making other small, but vital, improvements

Concordia

You are officially still a councilor. I am considering boosting the organization back up again, so could you please let me know if you would be active and prepared to assume this role. Thanks! Ian¹³/t 22:06, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

Concordia Newsletter

  NEWSLETTER

Concordia is currently trying to relaunch. I, and all the members of the ex-council, wish to welcome new members to the group. We are a group who aim to promote remaining civil, in an environment where messages can easily be interpretated wrongly.

Help out now!

  • Try and help people remain civil! Talk to them, and help them in any way possible. Do not be afraid to use the talk page.
  • Give people the Civility Barnstar.
  • Make and spread some Wikitokens so people know there are people to help if they want assistance.
  • Add banners or logos to your userpage to show your support.
  • Suggest some ideas! Add 'em to the talk page.

We are a community, so can only work though community contributions and support. It's the helping that counts.

Decision Making

The council expired one month ago, but due to the current position of the group the current council will remain until the position of the group can be assessed, and whether it would be sensible to keep Concordia going. For most decisions, however, it will be decided by all who choose to partake in discussions. I am trying to relaunch because of the vast amounts of new members we have received, demonstrating that the aims are supported.

If you wish to opt of of further talk-page communications, just let us know here.

WikiProject Golf

Wikiproject Golf
This is a "newsletter" of sorts. It's designed to let you know whats going on with the WikiProject. Contact me, Grovermj, if there is anything i could improve, or if you would like to write the newsletter yourself, because i'm certainly not skilled and experienced at this. Call it a test run.
  • Well, it's been a month since the project has started, and 4 new articles have been made by editors in the project. They can be found here.
  • The template {{Wikiproject Golf}} has been added to a total of 794 articles. We are most probably more than half way there.
  • Badbilltucker has proposed "Wikipedia Week" starting on the 15th of January. Details can be found here.
  • We have 14 participants at present.
  • If you are in need of things to do, the To-Do list could be a good start.
  • At present, there are no featured articles related to golf, and only one Good article. This is Tiger Woods.
  • Discuss golf course notability and a possible featured article collaboration on the talk page.

Thanks for your support with this project. Grover 08:42, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

Pledge of help toward achieving featured article status for Jack Nicklaus

I have written about 20% of the male golfer bio's in Wikipedia, and also have experience teaming with some guys to get Oceanic whitetip shark to featured status. I think the Golden Bear's article is the right one to select for this project. You can count on my help.--Hokeman 01:02, 1 February 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Karamja.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Karamja.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Jack Nicklaus on GA hold

I put a 1-week GA hold on Jack Nicklaus to fix a few referencing problems. I noticed you nominated it for GA status, so I figured you would want to take a look at it and try to fix it up. Good luck, and let me know when you get it fixed up! --Jayron32 03:11, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

Assessment from an article page

Thank you for helping out with the Biography assessment drive. Good news. Outriggr recently designed a script that will cut your biography assessment time down by about ten fold (what took ten hours now may only take one hour with Outriggr's script). For more information, please see the 'assessment from article page' discussion. -- Jreferee 20:21, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

Image:Karamja.jpg

I've lately been on a source and fairuse rationale overhaul of RuneScape images. I've added a fairuse rationale to the Karamja map, but I don't know where you got it from. Could you add the source information please? Cheers, CaptainVindaloo t c e 02:14, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

I saw that you are a conservative Wikipedian. Would you like to join Conservapedia as a editor? Conservapedia is looking for good editors and Admins. Please send me your email if you want to join Conservapedia. If you feel reticient about giving out your email address you can simply create a new account at hotmail and yahoo so you don't risk getting a lot of junk mail. monobook

Hi Giant Puffin,
I looked at your monobook.js and don't see any problems with the way it's set up. Have you done the "reload" since your monobook was updated? (The keystrokes are mentioned on the page when you edit/save it.) Are you using a browser other than Firefox or IE? –Outriggr § 02:41, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

Last push for the Biography Assessment Drive

We've done great work so far on the WikiProject Biography Spring 2007 Assessment Drive, reducing the 135,345 backlog by 38,626 to 96,719 as of March 20, 2007. We have only 6,720 more to go to get below 90,000. That would be outstanding and any extra effort that you can offer in these last few days of the drive (which ends March 24, 2007) would be much appreciated. If you haven't already, you may want to load Outriggr's assessment script in your monobook.js. If you have any questions, please feel free to post them on my talk page. -- Jreferee 23:21, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

Image:Trevor_Eve.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Trevor_Eve.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Iamunknown 05:37, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

WikiProject MMO Newsletter - April 2007

WikiProject MMO Quarterly
April 2007 Issue I
About Us
WikiProject MMO Quarterly is a quarterly newsletter posted on the first of January, April, July, and October. The newsletter is written by any and all interested members of WikiProject Massively multiplayer online games for members of the project and interested Wikipedians outside of the project.
Questions, comments, and concerns
For general questions, comments, and concerns, leave a message on our talk page here. For questions, comments, and concerns about our newsletter, leave a message on the talk page for the newsletter section of our Outreach Department here.
New good articles and featured articles
Good articles and featured articles are a great way to see what major acomplishments we have made over the last quarter.

Good articles

Featured articles
None this quarter!

Role call
We ask that within a month, all members sign our role call to show that they are still active participants in the project. More information is available on the role call page.
Major news
WikiProject RuneScape, our former child project, was moved to become a task force of this project in January as it had a small scope but the task force is still going strong to this very day.

This past quarter marks the beginning of our new collaboration system MMOGCM. Past collaborations thus far have been World of Warcraft and MMORPG, both of which made it to GA status while it was the MMOGCM.

As well, we now have an Outreach Department which works on this newsletter as well as spreads the word of our project.

WikiProject MMO is also now a participant in the Work via WikiProjects division of Wikipedia 1.0 and as such, we will be helping decide which are the best (based on quality and importance) articles within our scope. Project members can discuss which articles are to be included here.

News from the RuneScape Task Force
We are currently trying to improve this task force so that we can edit all RuneScape-related articles in an organized manner. To do that we started a massive overhaul which we invite all task force members to participate in.

We have also gotten our main article, RuneScape to good article status this quarter. All this, and the task force was only created in January.

Signed...
Greeves, Ed

On behalf of WikiProject Massively multiplayer online games.
