A-rod's status

Hi Taffe, You know a lot more about bb than I so I won't change A-rod again. My friend, a hot-shot pro sports exec wrote this: "A-rod is not an active player since he signed a new advisor contract with a 2M guarantee .. However, he can be immediately reinstated if he signs a new team deal for the player minimum and works out a new going forward relationship with the Yankees that will eventually get him his money..." I'll respect your decision on this. I found it difficult to find anything definitive about the definition of "active" for MLB. cheers-- pb Pabilleter (talk) 13:45, 21 August 2016 (UTC)

In regards to Jason Heyward, I'd say there is no better confirmation that he's a Cub than his own Twitter account. https://twitter.com/jasonheyward Iowamutt (talk) 18:00, 12 December 2015 (UTC)

It's not official until the club announces it. Those are the rules, I don't make um, I enforce them. Taffe316 (talk) 20:22, 12 December 2015 (UTC)

Thanks!

You're the first person to thank me ever. Leggomygreggo8 (talk) 19:29, 16 December 2015 (UTC)

Daniel Murphy

THE INFORMATION I REPORTED ON DANIEL MURPHY IS ON THE OFFICIAL WASHINGTON NATIONALS WEBPAGE and WAS REPORTED ON WCBS-TV CHANNEL 2. I THINK THAT IS TWO PLACES THAT ARE PRETTU REPUTABLE. PLEASE REINSTATE MY WRITING OR DON'T EXPECT ME TO OFFER ANY MORE WRITINGS. THANK YOU — Preceding unsigned comment added by OPUS390 (talkcontribs) 10:25, 25 December 2015 (UTC) I put the information back in myself. Please refer to the official webpage of the Washington Nationals which reports the same. — Preceding unsigned comment added by OPUS390 (talkcontribs) 10:34, 25 December 2015 (UTC)

The signing is not official until he passes his physical and its announced by the team in a press release. This is an encyclopedia, we report facts, not rumors. Deals could always fall apart, look at the Champman or Iwakuma deals. Taffe316 (talk) 17:08, 25 December 2015 (UTC)

I CANNOT BELIEVE HOW INEPT YOUR COMMENTS ARE! YOU ARE CALLING THIS A "RUMOR!" WHAT MAKES YOU THINK YOU KNOW MORE THAN THE MLB OR IN FACT, WCBS-TV, THE FLAGSHIP STATION OF THE CBS TELEVISION NETWORK. THEY REPORTED IT AS "FACT" NOT RUMOR. WIKIPEDIA AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, YOU!! DO NOT KNOW MORE THAN CBS KNOWS. IF IN FACT YOU THINK YOU DO, CONTACT LESLIE MOONVES,THE CHAIRMAN OF CBS FOR A JOB. THIS WAY YOU CAN GET A REAL CAREER! I WAS CONSIDERING MAKING A CONTRIBUTION TO WIKIPEDIA. FORGET IT! I'D BE BETTER OFF FLUSHING MY 5 DOLLARS DOWN A TOILET BOWL. GET REAL ALREADY! — Preceding unsigned comment added by OPUS390 (talkcontribs) 07:28, 26 December 2015 (UTC)

First off, typing in all caps won't get you anywhere. Second off, until it's announced by the team it's not official, simple as that. Once the club announces it, which could be tomorrow, then the page will be changed. Until then, it shale stay the same. Taffe316 (talk) 07:33, 26 December 2015 (UTC)

WOW. I'm IMPRESSED! BIG MAN ON CAMPUS. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.105.24.123 (talk) 07:45, 26 December 2015 (UTC)

I really don't understand why you're so bunched up about this. We follow the same protocol on every page of a new trade/free agent signing. However since you really don't seem to understand that, and since I've about lost my patience for this at this point, I'll put it bluntly for you. The page will remain the way it is until the signing is announced, any attempt by you to change it before the deal is announced will be reverted, and repeated attempts will be treated as vandalism. Simple as that, this conversation is over. Oh yes and do remember to sign your comments after you post them, just type 4 of these (~). Taffe316 (talk) 08:22, 26 December 2015 (UTC)

Daniel Murphy

http://www.spotrac.com/mlb/washington-nationals/daniel-murphy/ This is a source that says Daniel Murphy is on the Nationals. Mets1237 (talk) 02:39, 29 December 2015 (UTC)

The deal has not yet been announced by the team, so it is not official until the team does. Remember deals could always fall through, like the Iwakuma/Champman to the Dodgers deal, so we must wait until the team makes it official. Taffe316 (talk) 02:43, 29 December 2015 (UTC)

Why did you revert my edit?

  Please stop
Why did you revert my Justin Upton edit? The deal has been confirmed by USA Today. Nonchalantofthere (talk) 03:13, 19 January 2016 (UTC)
The deal is not official until it is confirmed by the club. Until the club confirms it, it is strictly rumor, and deals can still fall apart, see the Iwakuma to Dodgers deal. Taffe316 (talk) 03:15, 19 January 2016 (UTC)
Okay, judging by your page, you deal with this kind of stuff a lot, so I will trust the protocol and leave it be. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nonchalantofthere (talkcontribs) 03:18, 19 January 2016 (UTC)
I appreciate your understanding. Once the club confirms the deal, feel free to renter your edit if you wish. Taffe316 (talk) 03:21, 19 January 2016 (UTC)

Removal of unreferenced template

Hello! I just wanted to let you know that I reverted your removal of an unreferenced template on right fielder because the article is still, well, unreferenced. Thanks! RileyBugzYell at me | Edits 23:52, 13 April 2017 (UTC)

Your reverts

Before you make any more reverts, read WP:MoS. Bold is strongly discouraged on lists, but sadly, many still use bold. But seriously, read before reverting please. Sportsguy17 (TC) 23:06, 8 September 2017 (UTC)

Discouraged and not allowed are two different things my guy. You link me the section in that giant thing that tells that that the listing of every single list on this site baseball wise has been wrong for years. Until you do, I'm gonna amuse you're pulling it out of your ass, and any attempt to the italics back will be reverted. Taffe316 (talk) 00:22, 9 September 2017 (UTC)
First of all, don't ever call me "your guy" again. I am not one of your buddies that you can dick around with, so don't even try using any term of endearment with me. Second of all, I will not revert again because I refuse to get blocked for reverting someone who refuses to listen and doesn't understand why a content guideline like WP:MoS exists, so have at the article as much as you'd like. Looking at some of your creations, I'm also not surprised you'd mindlessly revert the way you do. Most of the baseball lists you created have a single general reference for the whole article. Just because it "looks nicer" doesn't mean it's the right thing to do. Our goal is to build an encyclopedia, not to make some aesthetically pleasing online gallery. But anyways, the article is all yours, I'm done putting up with the likes of you and others who have no interest in creating quality content. Deuces to you, if you need me, I will be working to get other articles to GA, FL, and FA status. Cheers, Sportsguy17 (TC) 04:55, 9 September 2017 (UTC)
Have fun in your bitterness my guy, I'm sure it'll take you far. Taffe316 (talk) 06:17, 9 September 2017 (UTC)

September 2017

Your recent editing history at List of Major League Baseball career stolen bases leaders shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. —Bagumba (talk) 01:04, 9 September 2017 (UTC)

List of Major League Baseball career batting average leaders

What is the minimum number of at bats or plate appearances to qualify for List of Major League Baseball career batting average leaders? I think this ought to be mentioned but I couldn't find it specified anywhere in the article. Cheers. --Jameboy (talk) 14:00, 2 May 2018 (UTC)

3,000 plate appearances is the qualification. Taffe316 (talk) 19:39, 2 May 2018 (UTC)
Ah yes, it is specified in the BB Ref article, I see now, thanks. I have updated the article accordingly. --Jameboy (talk) 17:15, 3 May 2018 (UTC)

Total bases

I've drafted up a proposed article for total bases, instead of having it redirect to List of Major League Baseball career total bases leaders. The problem is that there isn't really much more to be said about total bases in terms of a definition as it is really just a simple calculation. Therefore I've added some information on MLB records related to total bases. The draft is in User:Jameboy/sandbox. Let me know what you think, if it seems ok I'll overwrite the redirect with the content. Cheers. --Jameboy (talk) 14:07, 11 August 2018 (UTC)

List of Major League Baseball single-season losses leaders moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, List of Major League Baseball single-season losses leaders, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption.
