Sultans of Oman

Hi, you keep removing images of the Sultans of Oman page. Because they are 'non-free'. But, they are already being used on the respective pages of those two sultans. Why is it's supposed non-free status not an issue there? If they can be used there, why not the list too? Vince (talk) 10:19, 16 January 2020 (UTC)

@Darthvincor: Those images are uploaded to be specifically used at articles about those two sultans. Its not recommendable to use them at some other articles, including the list of sultans. --Sundostund (talk) 15:49, 16 January 2020 (UTC)

1979–80 Shia uprising in Iraq

Hi, due to your interest in Middle Eastern history, you are welcome to contribute to the newly created 1979–80 Shia uprising in Iraq article.GreyShark (dibra) 12:40, 6 March 2020 (UTC)

@Greyshark09: Hello! Thank you very much for your invitation. I will change something in that article if I find it necessary. Same applies to all articles related to the Middle East in general. Cheers! --Sundostund (talk) 14:34, 6 March 2020 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Combined Fleet, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Davao (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

You added the image File:Václav Nosek (1892-1955).jpg, which is just one year too late to have been in the public domain in Czech Republic on the URAA date (1 January 1996). (See the Commons template commons:Template:PD-Czechoslovakia-anon). It would be nice if Commons enforced its policies and kept out images that weren't PD-US, but unfortunately it can't be relied on. I've removed the image, but just please try to double-check copyright status in future. buidhe 20:13, 13 March 2020 (UTC)

2020 Serbian parliamentary election

Hello Sundostund. Funnily enough I was actually planning to send you a message yesterday about this article with a query about which parties were actually boycotting it, as none of the boycotting stuff in the article is actually sourced. Currently we only have the SzS coalition and Civic Platform in the infobox (i.e. parties currently with seats) as boycotting – is this correct? Also, the infobox is six seats short of the total of 250 – do you know what partie(s) or independents hold the other six seats? Cheers, Number 57 12:08, 16 May 2020 (UTC)

@Number 57: As it currently stands, pretty much only the SzS coalition is "firm" on the boycott issue (with rumors that some individual parties in the coalition are actually reconsidering that stance)... As for the missing six seats, they are occupied by independent MPs, former members of several different parties and coalitions. In that regard, Serbian politics can be very chaotic at times. --Sundostund (talk) 00:47, 18 May 2020 (UTC)
Ha, it certainly seems so. Thanks for the response! Number 57 08:39, 18 May 2020 (UTC)
@Number 57: Thank you for asking me for input... Actually, I planned to message you and ask for help on 2020 Vojvodina provincial election, which I created some days ago. I would appreciate if you somehow can improve that article, its infobox and make other changes you see as necessary. --Sundostund (talk) 01:00, 19 May 2020 (UTC)

Favour

A favour to ask in return. I'm trying to create a list of the first female MPs from each country. My guess is that in the case of most of the former Yugoslavian countries, the first women would have been elected in the 1945 Yugoslavian parliamentary election, in which 11 women were elected to the Federal Assembly and nine became members of the Assembly of Nations (was this directly elected or indirectly elected by the parliaments of the constituent republics?). However, I have not been able to find a list of those elected. Is there any chance you know where I can find a list of those elected, and which republic they represented? Cheers, Number 57 20:38, 24 June 2020 (UTC)

@Number 57: Yes, women in Yugoslavia were granted the right to vote in 1945, so your assumption about women being elected in the 1945 election is right. As far as I know, upper houses (including the Assembly of Nations) of post-1945 Yugoslav parliaments were almost always indirectly elected by the parliaments of the constituent republics... As for the list of female MPs elected in 1945, I really thought about where their names could be listed, but I really don't know, as of now. My best guess is that, somewhere online, must exist a full list of MPs (male and female)... I'll keep surfing online, and if I find some credible source about it, I will notify you for sure. --Sundostund (talk) 23:45, 24 June 2020 (UTC)

DYK for 1978 Somali coup d'état attempt

On 28 June 2020, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article 1978 Somali coup d'état attempt, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that a 1978 coup d'état attempt sought to remove Somali president Siad Barre (pictured), who himself had come to power in a coup a decade earlier? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/1978 Somali coup d'état attempt. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, 1978 Somali coup d'état attempt), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

updation of article

Hi. Please update wikipedia article "List of Prime Ministers of Lebanon". because Prime Minister Hassan Diab has resigned. Syed Zain Ul Abideen Bukhari (talk) 15:16, 10 August 2020 (UTC)

List of prime ministers, etc.

If you notice this range resuming disruptive editing after a month, feeling free to leave a note on my talk page and I'll reblock for a longer duration. OhNoitsJamie Talk 22:15, 23 August 2020 (UTC)

@Ohnoitsjamie: I most certainly will notify you if needed... Also, as it seems to me, that range is closely connected to User:李瞬生. Their edit patterns are pretty much the same. Maybe you want to look more closely into that. — Sundostund (talk) 02:18, 24 August 2020 (UTC)
Hmm, I have to admit that I'm not exactly clear on what the issue is with the changes they are making. Are some good and some bad? For example, this edit fixes a couple of MOS issues and at least one spelling mistake, and shuffles things around a bit. This edit, on the other hand, makes the list more confusing (addition of unsourced "acting" PMs in table, etc). I blocked that IP range because it appeared that a number of editors were reverting those additions. OhNoitsJamie Talk 02:32, 24 August 2020 (UTC)
@Ohnoitsjamie: Honestly, I am not sure at all what they try to achieve with most of their edits. IMHO, most of it is disruptive editing, naturally with some exceptions... I really wanted to notify you about that editor and let you decide on further actions, since it doesn't make much sense to me to block a range and then leave unblocked an account which clearly use that range. They obviously share the same edit pattern. — Sundostund (talk) 02:38, 24 August 2020 (UTC)

Czechoslovakian presidency

You mentioned the office of president was de facto abolished on 20 July 1992 but that was only the resignation of Havel. (See here for the source we use at Václav Havel#Presidency: NYTimes link.) I can't find any sources saying that the office was already abolished as opposed to 1 January 1993. Altanner1991 (talk) 13:59, 25 August 2020 (UTC)

@Altanner1991: After the resignation of Havel, the presidency remained vacant for the remainder of the country's existence, so yes – it was de facto abolished with Havel's departure. No new President was named after Havel, so I see no point in extending the period in question until January 1993. — Sundostund (talk) 18:14, 25 August 2020 (UTC)
That's original research; the correct date is 1 January 1993. Altanner1991 (talk) 18:19, 25 August 2020 (UTC)
I have to disagree. IMHO, we sometime should use logic in editing Wikipedia, instead of just jumping to declare it as original research. Still, I find this issue too much trivial to dwell into it for much longer, so if its so important to you, feel free to modify dates in question at List of presidents of Czechoslovakia and List of prime ministers of Czechoslovakia. — Sundostund (talk) 18:27, 25 August 2020 (UTC)
Thank you for your flexibility; I will leave it alone because it is a controversial issue. Best, Altanner1991 (talk) 18:40, 25 August 2020 (UTC)

Sincerely advise

Are you a wiki vampire? Why are you so keen on imposing your own opinions and ignoring others?

--李瞬生 (talk) 11:12, 29 August 2020 (UTC)

@李瞬生: If I am on your place, I would try to use some of advises you received here (which you promptly deleted from your talk page), instead of advising others... As for myself, I am doing here what I think is best since 2010, and I plan to continue doing so. As always – with collaboration and consensus with other editors who are here to improve things, instead of engaging in disruptive editing and similar activities. Everything best to you, — Sundostund (talk) 21:20, 29 August 2020 (UTC)
You seem to like meaningless editing of items. Do you like to find fault? Just as you arbitrarily delete Emmanuel III from the list of Ethiopian monarchs, it is a move that ignores basic historical facts.--李瞬生 (talk) 李瞬生 (talk) 10:38, 7 September 2020 (UTC)
@李瞬生: I seem to have my own interests in editing here, and I am sticking to those interests. Whether other editors find them as important or meaningless, its totally up to them. As for the Ethiopian article, when you look at its revision history, its more than obvious that I am not the only editor who removed Victor Emmanuel III and the whole Italian occupation from that list. For the matter of truth, I was the one who reverted that removal (and not just once) because it seemed logical to me to have the 1936–1941 period as part of that list. When I gave more thought to it, I find it ludicrous to have a period of foreign occupation included there, especially when its widely accepted that Haile Selassie was the only legitimate Emperor from 1930 until 1974, without interruption. Again, everything best to you, — Sundostund (talk) 03:51, 8 September 2020 (UTC)

Commander

Hey, I have tried to make a page for the Commander of the Yugoslav Navy, but I'm not really an expert on the subject and can't find many sources. Maybe you can have a look at it, if you have the time. Skjoldbro (talk) 13:48, 3 September 2020 (UTC)

@Skjoldbro: I think that you did a great job on it so far (as you generally do on your articles). I am not quite an expert on that subject as well, but I can have a look at it at some point in time... I think its possible that you'll have a better luck at sources if you decide to create Commander of the Yugoslav Air Force; I think that subject is somewhat better covered than the Navy. — Sundostund (talk) 17:16, 3 September 2020 (UTC)

Template:Commanders of the Iranian Armed Forces

Hi. I think merging Template:Chiefs-of-Staff of the Iranian Army and Template:Commanders-in-Chief of the Iranian Army to that template added by Commanders-in-Chief and Chiefs of the General Staff is not a good idea, because it is against what Wikipedia:Categories, lists, and navigation templates#Navigation templates says. Templates should include coherent and consistent subjects, not mixing up irrelevant things to mislead readers. "Commanders of the Iranian Armed Forces" is an ambiguous and generic title. I assume the difference between a commander-in-chief –the country's head of state–or a strategic-level commander (e.g. Chiefs of the General Staff) is pretty obvious. In case you are not familiar with the roles, they are different levels of leadership, the first is only involved in political leadership, the second is responsible for strategic affairs and does not engage in responsibilities such as in-the-field commanding of the troops, while the third does:

  • Commander-in-Chief
    • Chief of the General Staff
      • Commander of the Army

Even Chiefs-of-Staff and Commanders-in-Chief of the Iranian Army are different roles with different responsibilities. Please revert your changes and let the templates be separate from each other. Pahlevun (talk) 13:41, 10 September 2020 (UTC)

@Pahlevun: When I created that template, it seemed perfectly natural to me to merge the various levels of command of the Iranian military in the same place. Nothing in it seems to me as "mixing up irrelevant things to mislead readers", on the contrary – my intention was to make the subject more presentable and easier to navigate, instead of having it separated in several different templates. I am still of the same opinion, and really have no intention or desire to split the templates once more. I am sorry because you disagree, but when I did it, it really seemed as a perfectly logical decision to me. — Sundostund (talk) 14:08, 10 September 2020 (UTC)
It may be easier to navigate, but it is ambiguous and misleading, which is against the criteria "All articles within a template relate to a single, coherent subject" at templates guidline. Templates are not meant to mix up irrelevant things. No such template exists for other countries on Wikipedia. Moreover, you have made this change to tens of articles without discussion. Pahlevun (talk) 14:13, 10 September 2020 (UTC)
@Pahlevun: I don't see it as ambiguous and misleading, since all of it covers the same or very similar subject (Iranian command structure), instead of merging irrelevant things. I am sorry, I just don't see this issue in the same way as you. — Sundostund (talk) 14:17, 10 September 2020 (UTC)
You had not started a discussion for this huge change in this long-standing content. With all due respect, I am going to revert you. Build a consensus for your proposed changes. Pahlevun (talk) 14:25, 10 September 2020 (UTC)
@Pahlevun: My proposal would be for you to edit the template, and remove form there what you see as unacceptable, instead of just revert everything... When I created that template, it didn't even remotely occur to me that somebody might be so much opposed to it. I did it with the best possible intention, and if others here see it as something so much negative, like you do, they are more than free to get rid of it. This place is founded on consensus, and I have no problem with that. — Sundostund (talk) 14:32, 10 September 2020 (UTC)
I really don't suspect your good intentions. What you did is like putting Donald Trump, Joseph Dunford and Charles Q. Brown Jr. in a Template:Commanders of the United States Armed Forces. It doesn't work like that simply because they hold different offices with different responsibilities, and they are not a single, coherent subject for one template. The Iranian Armed Forces had undergone drastic structure changes since 1906, which this template tends to cover: Literally no "Armed Forces" existed before 1925, and after 1979, Iran has developed a new military formation parallel to its original military (the IRGC) with more recent changes made in 1989 and 1998. This template blends all the boundaries between these offices. Pahlevun (talk) 15:06, 10 September 2020 (UTC)
@Pahlevun: If that is the case, my idea is to separate the commanders-in-chief to a separate template, and leave only the professional officers (de facto heads of the military) in the template that I created, as well as chiefs of the General Staff. That may address the issues you are concerned about. — Sundostund (talk) 15:11, 10 September 2020 (UTC)

I picked some templates up. Based on Template:US Army Chiefs of Staff, we can create something like this:

The result is a merger of Template:Chiefs-of-Staff of the Iranian Army and Template:Commanders-in-Chief of the Iranian Army. The title is no longer ambiguous, and though the offices are not the same, there's a slight coherency. I'd say the position is in no way akin to Chief of General Staff, which is a new formation created in 1989 and leads both Artesh and the IRGC. Pahlevun (talk) 18:57, 10 September 2020 (UTC)

@Pahlevun: Firstly, I am sorry for responding as late as this to your message, I had to deal with a family emergency yesterday. Secondly, your proposed template seem very satisfactory to me, and is more than good basis for solving this issue. I always believed that Chiefs-of-Staff and Commanders-in-Chief should be merged in the same template; that was one reason why I created the disputed template (the subject of this discussion). Basically, my intention was to create an Artesh equivalent to the existing Sepah template – Template:IRGC commanders, and merge the commanders of Artesh in the same (or similar) way. I think that template should be an example how we can create an unified template for the regular military... As I said, the template you proposed here is a good way forward, and I think, in that case, that separate templates should exist for Commanders in Chief (heads of state) and Chiefs of the General Staff. — Sundostund (talk) 12:35, 11 September 2020 (UTC)
No problem, I hope you and your family are safe and sound. It seems that this is regular in templates, Template:Chief of the General Staff and Template:First Sea Lord are other examples. I am happy that you agree on this. Pahlevun (talk) 13:39, 11 September 2020 (UTC)
@Pahlevun: Yes, we are fine. Thank you a lot for your concern! From my perspective, beside your proposed template, we really can have separate templates for Commanders in Chief (heads of state) and Chiefs of the General Staff, but we should try to follow the example of Sepah (Template:IRGC commanders), and find a way to expand the template which you proposed. — Sundostund (talk) 13:43, 11 September 2020 (UTC)
A new template that could be used, is this:

It is based on Template:Leadership of the NZDF. I didn't get your suggestion, is it merging Template:Commanders of the Iranian Army's Air Force, Template:Commanders of the Iranian Navy, Template:Commanders of the Iranian Army's Air Defense Force and Template:Commanders of the Iranian Army's Ground Forces into one? Pahlevun (talk) 14:56, 11 September 2020 (UTC)

@Pahlevun: Well yes, my idea is to base the new template on Template:IRGC commanders, which would mean merging the commanders of separate military branches and overall commanders of the armed forces (Chiefs-of-Staff and Commanders-in-Chief) into one template, as well as having two additional templates for Commanders in Chief (heads of state) and Chiefs of the General Staff. The IRGC template is, pretty much, a good example of what I tried to do by creating this disputed template. — Sundostund (talk) 15:15, 11 September 2020 (UTC)
That would make a very gigantic template because unlike the IRGC, Artesh has had many commanders since 1925. It seems for other countries each office has a separate template, for example: India (Template:Chief of the Naval Staff (India), Template:Chief of the Army Staff (India), Template:Chief of the Air Staff (India)), Germany (Template:Inspectors of the German Army, Template:Inspectors of the German Air Force, Template:Inspector of the Navy), Canada (Template:Commander of the Canadian Army, Template:Commander of the Royal Canadian Air Force, Template:Commander of the Royal Canadian Navy). Pahlevun (talk) 16:06, 11 September 2020 (UTC)
@Pahlevun: That is a valid point; then we should focus at merging overall commanders of the armed forces (Chiefs-of-Staff and Commanders-in-Chief) into one template, a model of which you already proposed, and creating two separate templates for Commanders in Chief (heads of state) and Chiefs of the General Staff. — Sundostund (talk) 16:10, 11 September 2020 (UTC)
@Pahlevun: As you may see, now we have three separate templates: Template:Commanders-in-Chief of the Iranian Armed Forces, Template:Commanders of the Iranian Army and Template:Chiefs of the Iranian General Staff. I hope that you find them satisfactory, as they address concerns you expressed here. — Sundostund (talk) 04:58, 12 September 2020 (UTC)

List of heads of state of Afghanistan

Hello Sundostund, Why was the information I had inputted into List of heads of state of Afghanistan removed? They were Afghan empires who were the heads of state of Afghanistan. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sirmortimer3 (talkcontribs) 00:54, 10 February 2021 (UTC)

@Sirmortimer3: Hello. First and foremost, it is generally accepted that the Afghan state started in the 18th century, with the Hotak and the Durrani dynasties. Before making such a big change as you proposed with your edits, you should start a discussion and get input from other editors. Also, I saw the need to remove your edits as you included only a single ruler of both Lodi and Sur dynasties, instead of putting all of them in the list. That made the lists appearing confusing, and "broken" in a way. It seemed unnecessary to me to keep the list the way you left it. —Sundostund (talk) 01:08, 10 February 2021 (UTC)

Reply to List of Heads of state of Afghanistan

Hello Sundostund, I wouldn't say it is generally accepted that the Afghan state started in the 18th century, Afghans have had a state multiple times before the 18th century. (Sur Empire, Lodi dynasty, Ghurid, etc.) I will add all the Afghan rulers of the Afghan Sur Empire along with the Lodi Empire to make it not confusing. Is that fine with you? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sirmortimer3 (talkcontribs) 04:14, 10 February 2021 (UTC)

@Sirmortimer3: Well I am sorry, but we have to agree to disagree on that. It is generally accepted that the Afghan state started in the 18th century, especially with the establishment of the Durrani dynasty in 1747. The list of heads of state was stable in that regard for a very long time, and if you want to change it, you should start an appropriate discussion (maybe also add a formal request), and get input from other editors. That is an appropriate way to proceed before making such radical changes to the list, instead of just doing what you want. In my opinion, all leaders before the 18th century should be left out the list. —Sundostund (talk) 06:21, 10 February 2021 (UTC)

Spanish Guinea Article

Hey would you please help me fix up the Spanish Guinea article. I've already did some big fixes and I plan to do more. If you could help it would be very good. Thanks Kanto7 (talk) 01:12, 27 February 2021 (UTC)

@Kanto7: Honestly, I think that you did quite a good job there so far, so I see no urgent need to add/remove something myself. Currently, I have some other things to do, so I will look more carefully into the Spanish Guinea article at some later point. —Sundostund (talk) 08:51, 27 February 2021 (UTC)

Lists of heads of state/presidents/prime ministers

Hello Sundostund. I don't know if you have these types articles on your watchlist (as you edit them a lot), but if you do, and you spot any edits from an IP address changing dates, they may be a sock of EducationThruLists (talk · contribs) – this is a typical contribution from them and their socks (see a list here). If you want to flag it up with me, I'll happily block them. Cheers, Number 57 17:16, 2 January 2022 (UTC)

@Number 57: Hello! Yes, I do have many such articles on my watchlist, but I scroll through them even without relying on my watchlist too much. Its a real hobby of mine to edit them, and one of my favorite activities on Wikipedia... As for the vandalism involving changing of dates, I've heard about it, and saw it occasionally on the lists, including a long-term vandal from Malaysia who's apparently changing only years of birth. I have no idea if that's related to the case you pointed at, but anyway – I'll certainly flag it up with you, once I see such edits. Cheers, and Happy New Year! —Sundostund (talk) 19:19, 3 January 2022 (UTC)
Great, thanks! And Happy New Year to you too :) Number 57 19:34, 3 January 2022 (UTC)

Yes, cheers. You can add them to the list here: Wikipedia:Long-term abuse/Date-changing vandal from Malaysia... Number 57 16:24, 4 January 2022 (UTC)

List of emperors in Ethiopia

Hello, I am VickKiang. I see that you have contributed to the article significantly, and previously reverted Mentewab's edits. However, he removed info on House of Savoy, which I reverted, but also claimed on the talk page that: "Your source is not an Ethiopian source. We will go public with this. Wikipedia - gatekeepers of a white supremacist narrative". IMO the sources utilised for the section "House of Savoy" is acceptable (IMO it definitely is, including the NY Times article). Could you please also advise me on what I should do about it? Many thanks for your help. VickKiang (talk) 00:11, 10 March 2022 (UTC)

@VickKiang: Hello! Yes, I certainly contributed alot to that article... IMHO, the user in question (Mentewab) is merely trying to push their own POV, disregarding sources on nationalistic/racist basis. I really see it as disruptive editing, and it should be reported if the editor is persistent with it. Also, you may think about reporting about the situation at Wikipedia:Requests for page protection. Cheers! —Sundostund (talk) 02:15, 10 March 2022 (UTC)

User page deletion tagging

Hello, Sundostund,

You tagged some of Beaneater00's userboxes for MFD discussions (like User:Beaneater00/Userboxes/Balkans/RSKRightofReturn and User:Beaneater00/Userboxes/Balkans/CrnaGora), but all you did was put a tag on the page, you didn't post a notice of discussion on the MFD page. This means that a discussion regarding tagged pages will not occur and these pages will not be considered for deletion. I recommend that you start using Twinkle to tag pages for deletion as it will not only take care of tagging the page you are concerned with but also create an entry of on the appropriate XFD page.

If you did create an entry on the MFD page, please correct the page tag so that it links to the discussion you have started. Right now, it's not a working link. If the tagged pages still are not linked to a deletion discussion page after this weekend, I'm going to remove the tags from the pages you are concerned with. You can always retag them should you want to. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 00:13, 13 August 2022 (UTC)

@Liz: I'm sorry, but I don't understand what is the problem here. I did use Twinkle to tag pages for deletion, and those pages are linked to their respective entries on the MFD page. —Sundostund (talk) 00:26, 13 August 2022 (UTC)
I was wrong, I see that you started deletion discussions at MFD, they are just not linked to the userboxes under discussion. Are there working links on those two pages for you? They just led to empty pages when I clicked on them. Liz Read! Talk! 01:17, 13 August 2022 (UTC)
Okay, Sundostund, I was doubly wrong. I went to the userbox pages and the links work from those pages. I was looking at pages that the userboxes were tanscluded to (places where the userboxes were posted) and tried the links from those pages which don't work. Because the userboxes are basically templates, the pages where they are transcluded are also marked for MFD deletion (which you can see here, here and here.
So, I was mistaken, my apologies. I'm sorry if I came across as a little bit lecturey but I spend the day posting warning messages on user talk pages and sometimes it's hard to step out of that persona which I should have done with an editor with your level of experience.
So, don't worry about it, you did everything correctly, I was wrong and I hope you have a pleasant weekend! Liz Read! Talk! 02:23, 13 August 2022 (UTC)
@Liz: Everything is fine, really! I want you not to worry about it; mistakes do happen! Its perfectly normal, especially to an admin here – I would go nuts if I have to post all those warning messages on user talk pages, in a single day. I don't think that you came across as a lecturey, on the contrary. You are very polite, as it seems to me. Of course, I hope you have a pleasant weekend yourself! Cheers! —Sundostund (talk) 10:24, 13 August 2022 (UTC)

September 2022

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from 1990 Venda coup d'état into another page. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. Sennecaster (Chat) 20:30, 26 September 2022 (UTC)

@Sennecaster: Actually, I used 1987 Transkei coup d'état as a model for creating 1990 Ciskei coup d'état and 1990 Venda coup d'état. Those articles may be using similar wording, but I don't think that constitute direct copying. And they certainly use different sources for referencing... If the similarities between them really require that I mention copying in the edit summary, then I will have that on my mind when I create articles in the future. The subject of the articles is quite similar, so I decided to somewhat "borrow" the idea from the Transkei article, that's all. Cheers! —Sundostund (talk) 22:49, 26 September 2022 (UTC)
I noticed it was flagged from Bantustan actually; the template asks you to list the page it was copied from, not copied to. The template is asinine in that way, since you catch it by reviewing the page content was copied to and then warn the person from that page :P. Your footnote had the same text from the Dissolution section; you don't need to use the exact thing, just linking the page in your summary will suffice :) Sennecaster (Chat) 23:54, 26 September 2022 (UTC)
@Sennecaster: Actually, I took that footnote from the Transkei article, along with some similar wording, and transferred it into the two articles that I created. So, the creator of the Transkei article was the first who "borrowed" the footnote from Bantustan, and the "chain" started there. I didn't even look at Bantustan when I worked on those articles. But I do understand your point, and I will link the page in my edit summary, next time when I create a new article, and use an existing one as a close model. —Sundostund (talk) 01:11, 27 September 2022 (UTC)

An article you recently created, Minister of Foreign Affairs (Palau), is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). Thank you for finding and helping dispose of a ton of Neo-Confederate garbage. Dronebogus (talk) 02:53, 2 October 2022 (UTC)
I want to start out by saying I feel you deserved that barnstar. However, in my opinion you should do more extensive checks first going forward with future nominations as some of the MfDs you have put up were made in good faith. - Knowledgekid87 (talk) 13:57, 19 October 2022 (UTC)
@Knowledgekid87: Thank you for saying that you feel I deserve it. I am thankful to Dronebogus for giving it to me. But my aim isn't to get barnstars (of course, I never refuse them when I get them :). When it comes to the issue of Neo-Confederate materials, my only aim is to remove content that is, obviously, incompatible with the goals of Wikipedia. Being a strict anti-racist, I feel compelled to participate in that work. If there are any mistakes in doing that, they are completely unintentional and made in good faith. Same applies to any possible mistakes in my MfD nominations. As I earlier said here – the "cure" is very simple: consensus of editors can always refuse to delete my nomination(s). —Sundostund (talk) 14:20, 19 October 2022 (UTC)

MfD drafts nominations

You should probably read WP:NDRAFT and WP:ATA. WP:GNG, WP:V, WP:RS, and any other Mainspace guidelines/policies do not usually apply to drafts. Your arguments for deletion such as “• Delete per nom. — Sundostund mppria (talk / contribs) 21:01, 6 November 2022 (UTC)” Will most likely get pushed aside and not count towards the final results of the discussion. Pizzaplayer219TalkContribs 00:38, 9 November 2022 (UTC)

@Pizzaplayer219: Well, when I see MfD nominations which I support, and don't have other comments to add beside stating that support, I am using (and will continue to use) Delete per nom formulation. Will that be pushed aside? I don't know, and I don't care. I simply stated my opinion, by supporting the nominator's reasoning. Afterwards, consensus of editors is free to decide what to do with that particular nomination, and my opinion within it. — Sundostund mppria (talk / contribs) 00:47, 9 November 2022 (UTC)
I'm not saying that you have to stop doing those things. I'm just saying that it is likely for your "votes" to be dismissed by the closer of the discussions. You can choose to continue using that argument if you want. Pizzaplayer219TalkContribs 02:19, 9 November 2022 (UTC)
@Pizzaplayer219: Oh no, I understand what you wanted to say, and thank you. As I said, its my way to stress support for the nominator's reasoning. What comes after that is entirely up to consensus formed during the discussion, and to the closer of course. — Sundostund mppria (talk / contribs) 02:29, 9 November 2022 (UTC)

Hi Sundostund

The user Norprobr is constantly vandalizing several articles referring to the Dominican Republic, I wrote him a message to stop doing that, he did not want to read it and even deleted it from his discussion page, do you know an administrator who you can contact to talk to him and block it for vandalism? Oli (talk) 13:20, 13 December 2022 (UTC)

@OliverDF: Hello, Oli. If the activities of Norprobr really constitute vandalism that you noticed, you could contact admins such as Bbb23 or Liz, or raise the issue at WP:ANI, which would probably be the best option. Once at ANI, the issue would be seen by a large number of admins, instead of just one or two. — Sundostund mppria (talk / contribs) 14:01, 13 December 2022 (UTC)

Identity Dixie is a neo-confederate group that split from The Right Stuff (blog). I'm not sure if the sourcing justifies its own article or just a subsection on the TRS article.

Quick sourcing breakdown:
  • I collected 48 RS total.
  • 21 are from the SPLC (about half have SIGCOV, half are just passing mentions, their most in-depth article is here).
  • Many sources simply list them as included in various SPLC reports
  • Fauquier reports details of their flyering to intimidate an anti-racist rally
  • ABC News notes the SPLC reported on them and calls out their importance
  • There's a passing mention in the Huff Post
  • the Post and Courier mentions a controversy where a confederate store was selling their merchandise
  • Voa News mentions their social media activities and how they moved to VK from Facebook
  • The Nation discusses how an anti-fascist account called "Identify Dixie" tracked Identity Dixie
  • the Daily Beast reports on a member with ties to the group and references the SPLC reporting on them.
  • Law and Crime,ABC News, The Rolling Stone, and the NYT comment on how Gregory McMichael had shared Identity Dixie materials.
  • USA Today reports on their podcasts and how much content they've produced/since when.
  • The Daily Dot reports on how ID had supported a canvasser for Rubio who was assaulted and comments on their activities.
  • Salon briefly reports on how a racist author had posted material on ID before.

I'm planning to write the article on them after finishing up the Crown Heights Tenant Union, so I'd appreciate any thoughts you have beforehand! Thoughts on if sourcing justifies its own article or just a subsection to the TRS article, any wiki-projects where I could ask for feedback, and whether you'd like a ping after I write it to help me review it and work on it! TheTranarchist ⚧ Ⓐ (talk) 19:04, 9 March 2023 (UTC)

Hi TheTranarchist! I am doing well, and I hope the same is the case with you too, and that you do your best to stay positive! And, of course, that you are well within your TBAN limit; time will fly by quickly, and that TBAN will be gone eventually. Just be patient... IMHO, I would say that Identity Dixie could have an article of its own, and that the sources you listed are sufficient enough to create such an article. At the same time, its possible that a subsection to the TRS article could be sufficient as well. You should consider both of those options. As for wiki-projects to ask for feedback, I would say that WP Discrimination and WP Human rights could be useful for something like that. Whatever you decide to do – feel free to ping me, and I will try to help, as much as I can! — Sundostund mppria (talk / contribs) 19:43, 9 March 2023 (UTC)

2023 Niuean general election moved to draftspace

Unfortunately, an article you recently created 2023 Niuean general election, is not ready as written to remain published. It needs more in-depth coverage with citations from reliable and independent sources in order to show it meets WP:GNG. I've moved your article to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's WP:GNG guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit the draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Size of photos issue

Sundostund sorry to bother you but could pls stop reducing the imagine size on the presidentials and prime ministerial lists . Why are you doing this the pics on the gabon articles had been on that size for years the list of prime ministers of Australia has similiar size and is a Featured lists . Also could tell me why are are youdoing this the pics is it becasue of the quality of the photos ? Friendlyhistorian (talk) 03:29, 7 September 2023 (UTC)

@Friendlyhistorian: I believe that your prefered size of images is too large, at least for the format of lists where you implemented it. Those lists and articles aren't of the same format as the list of Australian PMs (and they don't contain the same amount of data), so they shouldn't be viewed in the same way. You are the one who is trying to change the size of images on Gabonese artciles, the size that was the same for years. But anyway, I think that your prefered size should be reduced somewhat, and it would look fine. — Sundostund mppria (talk / contribs) 15:20, 7 September 2023 (UTC)
Sundostund i been trying to standarize some stuff a lot of the lists are inconsistent . It makes zero sense that one list has huge pics and the other has tiny the us list is worse i has huge huge image size i think my size choice makes sense . I can show many examples in african lists and even asian lists also i have a zoom of 150 precent on my brwoser and still look small . But i am open to ideas what do you propose ? Friendlyhistorian (talk) 16:39, 7 September 2023 (UTC)
@Friendlyhistorian: I get your point, but it is unlikely to expect achieving consistency on the issue of image sizes. With all the lists of officeholders around, and so many sizes of tables and their format, it could hardly be achieved. Your prefered size isn't probelmatic in itself, but it just isn't fit for any style of table, as they greatly vary in size and data. My browser is set at a zoom of 150 precent as well, and images at 70px-80px looks just fine. I don't find them to be too small. My idea would be to enlarge them at maybe 90px, as I already did at some lists, but certainly not much larger than that. — Sundostund mppria (talk / contribs) 16:50, 7 September 2023 (UTC)
Seems reasonable which lists would you like me to apply it to ? Friendlyhistorian (talk) 17:09, 7 September 2023 (UTC)
@Friendlyhistorian: Well I can't generalize on that subject at all; as I said above - there are many lists of officeholders around, with many sizes of tables and their format. Any change depends on how the particular list already looks, and how much data it contains. It would be very hard to set some general standard on the size of images. — Sundostund mppria (talk / contribs) 17:20, 7 September 2023 (UTC)
May i propose something and also raise another minor issue ? Friendlyhistorian (talk) 17:54, 7 September 2023 (UTC)
@Friendlyhistorian: Yes, of course. Feel free to do that. — Sundostund mppria (talk / contribs) 18:19, 7 September 2023 (UTC)
Thanks ok my proposal is we will make list of the president , Vice president and prime minister Gabon at 90px but you we will live the cambodian head of statr and prime minister list alone since its more like the australian list as for the Equatorial guinea i prefer it at 100 but i think at it is better at 90px since i do need to do some minor modification but now . The other issue i want to raise is the the list of prime minister in Congo DRC and Congo Brazzaville and Gabon they used to have election but i think you removed them i dont remember if you did it or not so if did not i apologize in advance . Can i put them back since they are both semi presidential republican and the french list of prime minister has the same system Friendlyhistorian (talk) 19:17, 7 September 2023 (UTC)
@Friendlyhistorian: I really prefer all the mentioned lists to have images no larger than 90px, including the Cambodian and the Equatoguinean lists. As for parliamentary elections at DRC, Congo-Brazzaville and Gabonese lists of PMs I don't have a particular opinion about it; its possible that I removed them at some point. You can re-add them if you want, and I'll modify those lists somehow if I find it necessary. — Sundostund mppria (talk / contribs) 19:26, 7 September 2023 (UTC)
Ok but may i know i what lists should i have like 100px cause like the new zealand and australian lists have it 100px and they are very similiar to the cambodian lists is the the presidency or head of state at the end of the list that makes it so as the have to be smaller or is it the photo assymetry cause i can see the issue with that many photos are diffrent so having them all at same size does look weird I am asking so that we don't have any dispute in the future Friendlyhistorian (talk) 19:37, 7 September 2023 (UTC)
@Friendlyhistorian: As you can see, the New Zealand and Australian lists have various elements that are absent from many other lists of officeholders, like the data about cabinets and coalition governments. Such additional data makes the list far more complex, and can justify the size of 100px. Also, images should have the same size within the list; otherwise, the list have weird, misshapen appearance. In the end, I truly hope that we'll avoid any dispute in the future. Best, — Sundostund mppria (talk / contribs) 20:30, 7 September 2023 (UTC)
Ok thank you for discussing it with me . Btw you know what is funny we are having duscission about this minor issue but the lebanon pages are a mess up and i have lost all hope they keep changing like every three months it amazing people add stuff remove stuff change formats plus the vandalism i have legit given up Friendlyhistorian (talk) 20:38, 7 September 2023 (UTC)

Issue with an article

Hi Sundostund i have a problem would you mind if i ask for some help its an issue with 2 articles ?

Ok so there a person who has removed lifespans from the list of presidents of guatemala . Also he made massive changes to the list of prime ministers of france and articles looks nothing like other lists the issue is GoldRingChip has like 131,999 edits is here much longer than me and i dont want to go and have an edit war and potentially get in trouble. My plan in these cases is usually to just let be and come back a few months later but these time i have been pretty much demoralized here . Is there anything you could do since you are also an experianced editor ? Friendlyhistorian (talk) 17:46, 17 January 2024 (UTC)
      • Frankly I think lots of data could be included as interesting although excessive. And lifespan is just not necessary. Regardless, I shall restore those articles to keep my fellow editors happy. —GoldRingChip 18:18, 17 January 2024 (UTC)

@Justlettersandnumbers: As can be seen, I have created the article in question (City Assembly of Belgrade) quite some time ago (back in 2018), and at the present time I am really not interested in some serious/comprehensive work on that article. Of course, I can only thank you for your notification, and I can say that if any copyright infringement took place, it was completely unintentional on my part. Naturally, any material that resulted from such infringement should be removed from the article, and replaced with something sourced and acceptable. — Sundostund mppria (talk / contribs) 21:37, 26 January 2024 (UTC)
That's fine, Sundostund – the article will probably be deleted in a week or so unless someone chooses to rewrite it. The big question, of course, is whether you think that there might be other articles where you've copied content from non-free sources? If so, please mention them here so that they too can be cleaned up. Thanks, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 10:32, 27 January 2024 (UTC)
@Justlettersandnumbers: Yes, I understand. Obviously, I wouldn't want to see this article deleted. Same goes for City Assembly of Novi Sad, which is in the same position (but wasn't created by me). I would like to "save" them both, but I honestly have no idea how to rewrite them into something acceptable, with reliable free sources, and without turning it into a mammoth task... and no, I don't remember any other article created by me, that could have the same issue as this one. Naturally, mistakes could happen, but as I said, even this one wasn't intentional at all. — Sundostund mppria (talk / contribs) 20:37, 27 January 2024 (UTC)
@Justlettersandnumbers: Furthermore, I would recommend you to check Zagreb Assembly, City Assembly of the Capital City of Podgorica and City Assembly of Niš for possible copyright infringements. — Sundostund mppria (talk / contribs) 20:54, 27 January 2024 (UTC)
(edit conflict) That's fair enough, Sundostund, writing a properly-sourced article is indeed a lot of work – and so is something that to my great regret I hardly ever do any more. I said 'deleted', but it's actually more likely that it will become a redirect to the page on the city; that means that you could write a small amount about it in that page with having to worry whether it meets our notability requirements and so on. If over time that develops sufficiently you'd always be free to split it off into a separate page. And yes, will look at those too. Regards, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 21:03, 27 January 2024 (UTC)

Tvoj zločinac iz Srbije, Overthrow-dictator (talk) 13:04, 10 April 2024 (UTC)
@Overthrow-dictator: You can change your default-looking signature at Preferences; its not hard at all if you want to create a customized (personalized) signature. — Sundostund mppria (talk / contribs) 13:08, 10 April 2024 (UTC)
Welp, I did it. How is it? (color is from the Serbian Radical Party) Overthrow-dictator (talk / contribs) 13:20, 10 April 2024 (UTC)
@Overthrow-dictator: Yes, you got it - and rather quickly, to be honest! I'm glad because of that, but I can't say that I like how you got the idea for that color; I'm def not a SRS voter myself. Still, if that's your (political) position, than fine... I myself am associated with green color around here for some time now (not just because of Green politics), so that's why I use green color for my signature as well. — Sundostund mppria (talk / contribs) 13:30, 10 April 2024 (UTC)
I'm not a voter for the СРС, I just think the color is cool. My color is red, but it didn't look as good as this. If we're getting political, my (personal) party I would vote for would be the СДСС in Croatia, as I like their ideological views. Anyways, yea, thanks for all! @Friendlyhistorian: In all honesty, I am very reluctant to get myself involved in disputes, of almost all kinds, or to participate in disputes of other editors. I can only reccomend to both you and Skjoldbro to discuss your differences and find some compromise, as any sort of edit-warring would only make the problem deeper and/or result in blocks. — Sundostund mppria (talk / contribs) 17:30, 25 May 2024 (UTC)
Ok no worries i just see you are an authority on lists but no worries . Take care and happy editing . Also something unrealted would you mind if i asked a few questions about editing later at some point  ? Friendlyhistorian (talk) 17:56, 25 May 2024 (UTC)
@Friendlyhistorian: Well, thanks for that. I could be called an authority on lists, but on disputes... no thanks. And of course, I will be glad to hear your questions. — Sundostund mppria (talk / contribs) 18:00, 25 May 2024 (UTC)
