WikiProject Bangladesh Premier League Talk Page Notice
Dear Sportsguy17, we have a very important discussion going on project's talkpage. Please join there. You arrival and thinking will be very useful for the project and it's articles. Thanks in advance. Pratyya (Hello!) (Project Co-ordinator) and Sourov0000 (talk) (Project Vice Co-ordinator) 07:45, 31 December 2013 (UTC) Sorry for messaging you this much. But we have an important discussion going on and it'll be very good if most of the project members come here and discuss. Thank you for understanding.
Welcome to the 2014 WikiCup!
Hello Sportsguy17, and welcome to the 2014 WikiCup! Your submission page can be found here. The competition will begin at midnight tonight (UTC). There have been a few small changes from last year; the rules can be read in full at Wikipedia:WikiCup/Scoring, and the page also includes a summary of changes. One important rule to remember is that only content on which you have completed significant work, and nominated, in 2014 is eligible for points in the competition- the judges will be checking! As ever, this year's competition includes some younger editors. If you are a younger editor, you are certainly welcome, but we have written an advice page at Wikipedia:WikiCup/Advice for younger editors for you. Please do take a look. Any questions should be directed to one of the judges, or left on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup. Signups will close at the end of January, and the first round will end on 26 February; the 64 highest scorers at that time will make it to round 2. Good luck! Proposal 3
There may or may not be a missing word in point 1 of Proposal 3, and it looks like ChrisGualtieri may have misread it (sounds like he thinks he can't touch the articles, which I don't think is what you meant), so you might want to clarify. —Steve Summit (talk) 01:37, 4 January 2014 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. What's your malfunction dude? Did you read the edit, or did you just assume because I'm anon and deleted something that I vandalized. The page had an ad complaint and I've been attempting to revise it, but bots and presumptive users such as yourself keep inhibiting the process. I'm going to try it again, and you're going to look it over, and then you're going to do nothing because I'm in the right on this, and you're being the kind of bureaucratic little shit that made me quit this site 5 years ago. 142.136.138.10 (talk) 02:38, 8 January 2014 (UTC)
- Dude you're blanking a complete section. It is really written like an advertisement. That said, bring a copy to your sandbox if you want to rewrite it, but you may not tell editors not to edit an article, see WP:OWN: that comment above is a WP:OWN attitude and keep it cool. We all mistakes, even the Bots. But blanking part of the article will only ping the bot to revert you and it doesn't improve the article at all, it might even make it worse. Sportsguy17 (T • C) 02:44, 8 January 2014 (UTC)
[redacted- high tensions all around]. We'll agree to disagree on OWN, STiki, when blanking is "blanking", and when it's appropriate notwithstanding. One article down, millions to go. Happy new years mate. 142.136.138.10 (talk) 03:08, 8 January 2014 (UTC)
- Trust me, I understand that tensions can get high. Just keep it cool, because it has deleterious effects to both sides. I appreciate your redaction, albeit you could've said a lot worse. I hope you've settled into 2014. Sportsguy17 (T • C) 03:28, 8 January 2014 (UTC)

...for the update on how you are doing. A while ago I took some time and trouble to offer you some advice, when it would have been easier to just walk away and leave you. I did that because I thought there was a good chance that if you thought about things and made an effort you could get past the rocky start you had had here. It looks as though I was right, and that's great. It's great for you, and great for Wikipedia. I haven't been watching you, so I had no idea what you had been up to (though it turns out that, without realising it, I have sometimes almost stepped on your heels: [1]) but I have now had a look at some of your recent edits, and you are clearly doing some good work. Keep going. JamesBWatson (talk) 15:49, 11 January 2014 (UTC)

DYK for 2000–01 Louisville Cardinals men's basketball team
On 20 January 2014, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article 2000–01 Louisville Cardinals men's basketball team, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that Denny Crum retired at the end of the 2000–01 season with the Louisville Cardinals men's basketball team with 675 wins, the most of any head coach for Louisville? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/2000–01 Louisville Cardinals men's basketball team. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

Hi Sportsguy; I'm afraid I've had to remove 2000–01 Louisville Cardinals men's basketball team from your submission page. DYK hook promotion
Hi, just to note that in neither of the edits during promotion did you "indicate which prep area you are moving the hook to". Just a heads up, thanks, Matty.007 21:03, 25 January 2014 (UTC)
- Unless I'm mistaken, isn't it common to put it into the first prep area, since that's the next one to be moved to the queue? Tell me if I'm wrong, but it's illogical IMO to put a newly promoted hook into a completely empty prep area that doesn't go into the queue for another 40 hours than to put it in a half-full prep area that is almost overdue for the queue. I've never promoted before Matty.007, so please correct me if I'm wrong . Sportsguy17 (T • C) 21:35, 25 January 2014 (UTC)
- No, what I was saying is that in the edit summary you need to say to (for example) 'To P2', i.e. Prep area 2. Thanks, Matty.007 11:22, 26 January 2014 (UTC)

WikiCup 2014 January newsletter
The 2014 WikiCup is off to a flying start, with, at time of writing, 138 participants. The is the largest number of participants we have seen since 2010. If you are yet to join the competition, don't worry- the judges have agreed to keep the signups open for a few more days. By a wide margin, our current leader is newcomer Godot13 (submissions), whose set of 14 featured pictures, the first FPs of the competition, was worth 490 points. Here are some more noteworthy scorers:
- 12george1 (submissions) and TropicalAnalystwx13 (submissions) were the first people to score, for the good article Tropical Storm Bret (1981) and its good article review respectively. 12george1 was also the first person to score in 2012 and 2013.
- Sven Manguard (submissions) scored the first ITN points for 2014 North American polar vortex.
- WonderBoy1998 (submissions) scored points for an early good topic, finishing off Wikipedia:Featured topics/She Wolf.
- TheAustinMan (submissions) scored the first bonus points of the competition, for his work on Typhoon Vera.
- Igordebraga (submissions) has scored the highest number of bonus points for a single article, for the high-importance Jurassic Park (film).
Featured articles, featured lists, featured topics and featured portals are yet to play a part in the competition. The judges have removed a number of submissions which were deemed ineligible. Typically, we aim to see work on a project, followed by a nomination, followed by promotion, this year. We apologise for any disappointment caused by our strict enforcement this year; we're aiming to keep the competition as fair as possible.
Wikipedians interested in friendly competition may be interested to take part in The Core Contest; unlike the WikiCup, The Core Contest is not about audited content, but, like the WikiCup, it is about article improvement; specifically, The Core Contest is about contribution to some of Wikipedia's most important article. Of course, any work done for The Core Contest, if it leads to a DYK, GA or FA, can earn WikiCup points.
If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to help keep down the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. More on the etiquette of DYK
Hi. I see that you approved the hook for Premier League Golden Glove, then moved it into one of the prep areas. For future reference, I want you to know that DYK "etiquette" says that, under normal circumstances, the same person shouldn't approve a hook and move it to prep. Having different people do these jobs provides an extra level of review -- to prevent errors. I approved that prep set for the queue after checking it out, but I wanted you to know the proper procedure for the future. Thanks for your contributions! --Orlady (talk) 05:39, 3 February 2014 (UTC)
- Got it. I'm fairly new to the whole process, so I used what I thought was logical, but obviously I will defer to wikiquette and I'll remember for next time. Thanks. Sportsguy17 (T • C) 01:08, 4 February 2014 (UTC)

MBTA Commuter Rail roster
I totally agree with the result of your edit here; north/southside assignments aren't within the purview of Wikipedia. However, you should know that it's not necessarily original research - there is a source that can be cited. This roster is for all intents and purposes an official document; it is updated daily by someone who very clearly works at the MBTA (due to the high level of access required to know where equipment is). It's used for internal purposes as well as external, so the management tacitly allows it. Pi.1415926535 (talk) 20:41, 8 February 2014 (UTC)
- Hi Pi.1415926535. While what you say is understandable, the given statement I removed is not verifiable. It does have its roster in the document, but nowhere does it say anything of route assignments, such as a generic example like
Locomotive 1024 is assigned to the Framingham/Worcester Line, while 1065 is used on the CapeFLYER
. There is slim to no chance that a reliable source about route assignments exist. That said, I understand your concerns and I did look through MBTA's website to see if I could find anything first. Thanks. Sportsguy17 (T • C) 22:53, 8 February 2014 (UTC)
- Route assignments are much more variable - a single set may run on multiple lines out of the same terminal in a single day - while north/south assignments tend to be pretty constant. The statement you removed, while not appropriate for Wikipedia, is in fact verifiable on that roster (the "Active passenger locomotive assignment Snap Shot" section at the end of the locomotive roster). Pi.1415926535 (talk) 23:49, 8 February 2014 (UTC)
- Sure enough, locomotive assignments do exist in the document. That said, as stated above, it can really vary. Sportsguy17 (T • C) 00:15, 9 February 2014 (UTC)

Articles for deletion/Ed Oxenbould
Hey Sports, I'll be glad if you take a look at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ed Oxenbould. --Captain Assassin! «T ♦ C ♦ G» 18:19, 13 February 2014 (UTC)
- @Bgwhite:, please check out my talk page too, what a mess there of PRODs. Articles have enough sources to have an article, I didn't create them directly but if those have been created they have enough sources. All the biography articles have significant roles in TVs and films, just Courtney Eaton have both future films but she has filmed lead role in Mad Max, in which she got fame. S. Craig Zahler has written a released film, and have other future projects, I added with sources. And now about films' articles, those can be redirected to their parents' articles for now, like Tarzan, Adaline, Pitch Perfect 2, and Last Days in the Desert to their directors. While Max Steel has parent page, and Someone Marry Barry has completed filming and source confirmed its released date. --Captain Assassin! «T ♦ C ♦ G» 18:48, 13 February 2014 (UTC)
- Assassin, I agree with the Prod of Courtney Eaton. Not really any refs about her. The movie is a year away and she is not the title character. There is more info about Oxenbould and he is the title character in the upcoming Disney film. I'm not say a Disney film is more important or better than others, just they have a publicity machine.
- S. Craig Zahler is more difficult. The Prod states he has only written one screenplay. While that is true, it is not necessarily a reason for deletion. There are more references about Zhaler that might make him notable.
- Personally, I don't see Eaton passing an AfD, so let it be deleted. I'd contest the Prod on Zahler. Bgwhite (talk) 19:26, 13 February 2014 (UTC)
- As you say Bgwhite, I'll follow you, leave Eaton to the other admins. But what about films' articles, redirects will be better for now if they are not much significant or have enough sources to have an article. When filming commenced, redirect edits will be undone then with addition of reliable sources. --Captain Assassin! «T ♦ C ♦ G» 19:41, 13 February 2014 (UTC)
- Captain: Please keep in mind that the central point of your block was your strong desire to start film articles too soon and create redirects out of a desire to somehow get "credit" for them. It would probably look better for you in the long run if you let the prods expire and allow someone else to create any appropriate redirects. - SummerPhD (talk) 23:02, 13 February 2014 (UTC)

@Captain Assassin!: - Please read the note I left on your talk page. There is a scent of your old behavior returning and it does not end anywhere good, so please stop, listen, and focus on quality over quantity. Sportsguy17 (T • C) 01:12, 14 February 2014 (UTC)

- Done - Much better . Keep coming to me or Bgwhite anytime. Sportsguy17 (T • C) 17:53, 15 February 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks and sorry, I didn't mean to do that or wasn't gotten greedy to get credits. It was just, I saw some articles are created before the filming commenced. Otherwise why would I do such hard works on those articles if I knew this would happen. --Captain Assassin! «T ♦ C ♦ G» 17:59, 15 February 2014 (UTC)
