thanks for the warm welcome

Thanks for welcoming me to Wikipedia:WikiProject Dinosaurs. I'm really having fun. see you on the dino pages!--Firsfron 08:17, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

Wikipedia:WikiProject Dinosaurs

Hi, I got the article Dinosaur to the main page & as a result, monitor editors on there closely. So, we could use someone of your ideals (creationist or at least i think you know abou t it) on Wikipedia:WikiProject Dinosaurs. Please join if you want to, as members are few nowadays & specialists even fewer. Place your name on the participants list & slap one of those userbox thingys on your user page... Thanks, Spawn Man 07:58, 4 March 2006 (UTC)

Thanks, but I'm not much of an expert on either dinosaurs or creationism. I thought that dinosaur, being a featured article, needed to devote a sentence or two to religious viewpoints on dinosaurs, but it's not normally my sort of thing. Too hot a subject, I'm afraid. The hostility and assumptions of bad faith aren't my idea of fun! — Matt Crypto 08:50, 8 March 2006 (UTC)
Hello there. When I say for future publication on CD or paper, I mean articles that will hopefully be on a CD or print version of Wikipedia, which will hopefully be created on day. For now we are working on gathering good articles. Since you are a member of the dinosaur Wikiproject, it would be nice if you could recommend any articles on dinosaurs, but if you would like to recommend any articles on any other subjects it couldn't hurt. I would be willing to rate them if you wish.--Shanel 23:16, 9 March 2006 (UTC)

That would be nice, I'll send you a list soon.... Spawn Man 23:23, 9 March 2006 (UTC)

Thanks!--Shanel 23:54, 9 March 2006 (UTC)

A list of the 20 most wanted new Dinosaur articles?

The full list of dinosaurs is pretty daunting. Feel like compiling a list of the 20 or so most important new Dinosaur species articles? Thanks for spearheading the Dinosaur portal, by the way. Killdevil 01:42, 10 March 2006 (UTC)

No problemo matey potatey! I'll see what I can do.... Spawn Man 08:38, 10 March 2006 (UTC)

My first single....!!!!

Hii...

Hows everything going..?? I just recorded my first solo song...!!! its instrumental actually.... It'd be cool if you can listen to it and tell me what you think of it.....Heres the link......

Jayant's Solo

I still haven't named the song or written the lyrics yet.....so any suggestions are welcome.. :-D.....

Thanks a lot...!!!Jayant,17 Years, Indiacontribs 10:27, 21 March 2006 (UTC)

I tried to listen to it but it wouldn't play. so after the first attempt, I sorta gave up... Will listen to it when I have more time though (it's 10pm here!). Bye... Spawn Man 08:43, 14 March 2006 (UTC)

DinoImages

Hello! Site DinoData.net contains several great dinosaur images with no info about copyright (like [1] or did I overlook it???). Could we use them? Thanx for answer. --Dudo2 15:00, 17 March 2006 (UTC)

article for deletion......????

Hii....

I got a message saying that the Technosaurus article has been put up for deletion as its a dictionary item..... i checked the article and it says that the information has to be verified and all..... i put the external references....what else do i need to do??? we have to save this article!!!!! Jayant,17 Years, Indiacontribs 10:58, 18 March 2006 (UTC)

There's not a lot we can do, as it isn't up for deletion, or at least that I know of. There has to be a banner on the article, & there isn't. The other banner on the article are not banners for deletion, just a reminder that the article needs improving badly. Thanks, Spawn Man 07:11, 19 March 2006 (UTC)
No problem.... I got the message that it was deletion on my talk page..... but Sandstein removed the deletion banner.......Thanks a lot anyways.....Jayant,17 Years, Indiacontribs 14:48, 19 March 2006 (UTC)

About the supernatural project

You kinda can't just join the project and start changing every little detail. If you want to change the project page majorly, like deleting a whole section, please contact me first and get my approval by leaving a note on my talk page. I will get back to you from there. ~VNinja~ 21:59, 19 March 2006 (UTC)

P.S. How do you make those stub templates and all?

Movie reviews

Hey, don't spam links to your movie reviews. I don't know how many links you've added since I've only come across the one (and frankly I'm sure I would become apopleptic if I realized how many you've added), but you should probably remove them, even if they are only on talk pages. Essentially, to be blunt, who the hell are you, and why should we care what you think? Adam Bishop 04:30, 20 March 2006 (UTC)

Hmm...I was trying to be humourous with my last comment, but I guess that did not come across very well. Oh well. Still, this isn't wiki-movie-review. This isn't a blog, it's supposed to be an encyclopedia... Adam Bishop 04:54, 20 March 2006 (UTC)

Stop

I've deleted Template:Film review, Template:Book review, Template:Song review, Template:Show review, Template:Game review and Template:Site review, and I am reverting your edits to assorted talk pages.. This is an encyclopedia, not your personal webspace. I'll let User:Spawn_Man/Reviews stay, but please stop spamming your reviews to talk pages. Talk pages serve an encyclopediac purpose, your reviews do not. Thank you.--Sean Black (talk) 06:57, 20 March 2006 (UTC)

Please read WP:NOT

Hi. Adam Bishop's wording above was unfortunate, but his point was well-motivated. Wikipedia is not a free web-host, nor is your user space here your blog. We have one goal here - writing an encyclopedia. Trying to get people to read your movie reviews is unencyclopedic, however good an idea it may be for another website. -GTBacchus(talk) 07:46, 20 March 2006 (UTC)

I've also sent User:Spawn Man/Reviews to Miscellany for Deletion; I believe it falls under the same WP:NOT umbrella. —Bunchofgrapes (talk) 16:34, 20 March 2006 (UTC)

  • Oh and if you want more people to vote for keep, you might want to hit up some people that have contributed to my list. RENTA FOR LET? 01:42, 21 March 2006 (UTC)
    • Thanks a bunch! Again.... Spawn Man 01:45, 21 March 2006 (UTC)

Hiii....

Hii..... i just wanted to tell you not to get too excited about your movie reviews page...i like it alot....and i think the people who want to get it deleted are just dumb...if you can stay on wikipedia i wanna join you on the project... wiki:Moviereviews or something... this deletion stuff is just normal... if your thing gets deleted i'll put it on my user page or something.... but right now it isn't the time for you to leave wikipedia..... we still need your help on the dinosaur stuff... and i dont think it'll go anywhere without your support.... if you do read this....please reconsider your decision to leave us.... Jayant,17 Years, Indiacontribs 06:41, 21 March 2006 (UTC)

A suggestion

Dude, check out the article List of wikis. From the many links (including links to other lists) you ought to find at least one where your movie reviews are welcome. If they're running the same software as Wikipedia, and I think most of them do, you can cut and paste the contents of your film reviews into a page there with no reformatting required. (Then, if you want, you can link to that page from your Wikipedia userpage, which is practically the same as having it on a Wikipedia subpage). So problem solved. WikiProject Dinosaurs

Hi Spawn Man, I noticed you left some angry messages on the WP Dinosaurs page, and on Sheep's user page. While I can understand your shock at seeing so many changes/proposed changes, I've got to say I'm surprised as well. You've accused Sheep of trying to take the project over, which is not the case. You've been absent from the project for a while (your last contributions to the project other than today's were a few on the 17th, and before that on the 12th). Naturally, people will propose new ideas, and if you're not around, there's no way of counting your vote. I want to specifically discuss some of the things you've said to Sheep, which I think must be addressed.

Why have you suddenly commandeered the wikiproject dino's ship?

Of course he did no such thing. He offered some proposals, some of which were accepted, and some which were not. Same as everyone else.

I was never aware there was a mutiny, but suddenly your name is posted everywhere. This includes a new collaboration (which I already f***ing proposed, but everyone rejected!),

Not everyone rejected this, Spawn, and I know you're a young contributer, but even so, even you must know you've exaggerated here. Not everyone rejected it, and in the end, it garnered a ton of volunteers: more than the other tasks, that's for sure.

a new design for the project page, a featured article, 99% of the talk sections on the project talk & a lot more. I worked hard to get the project up & running again,

There is no denying you resurrected what seemed like a dying project. For that, you should be commended.

& although I don't like the sound of it, deem myself as one of the project leaders.

Then as a leader, you should know the importance of not calling people's ideas "shite", etc. That was really unfair of you, and was very rude to Sheep.

I think I should at least be consulted before so many major actions are taken.

Not if you don't work on the project for a while. This project was actually founded by User:Fredrick, and we certainly don't consult him about what we do, do we? I know you had a virus, and that explains some absence, but you were still editing other pages on WP, as shown by your contribution log. You're free to edit wherever you like. At the same time, we members of the WP:D community can't force you to check the page and give input on ideas from other members. In your absence, the project must move on, especially since we can see you're editing, just not on WP:Dinos.

I proposed a collaboration many months ago & everyone rejected it.

That's just not true, Spawn. Plenty of people signed up for your collaboration: more than on any other task, as can be seen on the project page.

Now you say you want one & it is so. I'm sick of my hard work not being appreciated at any place I go.

It can be difficult to feel you're not appreciated, Spawn. Yet you have a Featured Article under your belt, so obviously something you've done was respected and appreciated, yes?

So if you just wanna take over the reigns & delete all of my hard work & proclaim yourself leader, ask me before you do it. Spawn Man 02:35, 1 June 2006 (UTC)

I think that comment was really unfair, Spawn Man. Sheep didn't declare himself anything of the sort. I think you have been upset with him for a long time, based on your earlier comments over the months about how he re-wrote your articles (which you mentioned several times), etc. But that's part of Wikipedia: stuff will never remain the same: it will always be re-written. That is the nature of the encyclopedia. Nothing remains for long. I know you understand that, but I think maybe your feelings are still hurt. Spawn Man, don't take anything on WP personally. I'm here to have fun, and I hope you are, too. :) Cheers, --Firsfron 07:27, 1 June 2006 (UTC)

Well, firstly, the collaboration I'm talking about is the collaboration I proposed right before my comp shut down, not the big 20. I know the big 20 is going well, but I was talking about the collaboration which I proposed on the project talk page & that only one person other than me supported. I.E, a whole new subpage off the wikiproject dino page.
I don't appreciate being called young, unless you count early 20's as young. Just cause I get all emotional doesn't mean I'm immature. You can blame all that on my Medterranian heritage. When I talked about him deleting all my hard work, I was refering to the project, not to my articles. I'm just pissed off at the fact that Sheep proposes a collaboration & it gets loads of acceptance, where as I had proposed it earlier in the last month & I only get one supporting vote from Jayant (as you'll see in the talk archives!)... Spawn Man 22:32, 1 June 2006 (UTC)
I'm sorry, Spawn Man. There are over a half-dozen pages on Wikipedia which listed your age as 14 in mid-December here, here, and here, among others. I had incorrectly assumed you'd be 15 by now. I'm sorry your age, which is much older, has been misrepresented on WP.--Firsfron 23:39, 1 June 2006 (UTC)
As I said, just because I didn't see & then refute them, doesn't mean that they're true... Spawn Man 23:42, 1 June 2006 (UTC)
Of course, and you didn't say it. I had incorrectly assumed it, based on what other people said. Which is why I'm apologising for saying you were 15, and saying that you were a younger user.--Firsfron 23:45, 1 June 2006 (UTC)

The Cottingley Fairies. --BillC 00:32, 2 June 2006 (UTC)

Alfirin

You are correct that there is a reference to 'alfirin' as 'golden bells'... but that is the sum total of information on that version of alfirin in Tolkien's texts. All the stuff in the article about it being special to the Elves was made up by David Day. Further, the name 'alfirin' was also used as an alternate name of 'simbelmynë'... which is why it was redirected to that page where all information on both uses is described with references. --CBDunkerson 00:55, 2 June 2006 (UTC)

I also found the same information about them being different on the internet, on this "encyclopedia of arda" or something. If it is printed in a book, then we must take it as correct. The book was made only under the copyright of tolkien enterprises, i.e. tolkien's son provided information that was not in the lord of the rings. In one interview/speech thingy, he commented on a tree which was never in the book, but was still taken as part of the tolkien world. Just because it isn't in the book, doesn't mean there isn't notes on it. The word "glasses" shares its name with multiple objects, such spectacles or drinking glasses. Just because the flowers are similar or share the same name in some texts, IMHO, doesn't mean they have to reside on the same page. Spawn Man 01:09, 2 June 2006 (UTC)
Actually, David Day has been a vocal critic of the Tolkien Estate ('Tolkien Enterprises' is a private company with no connection to the family) because he claims that they don't allow access to materials and are difficult to work with. In any case, Christopher Tolkien and the estate are not listed amongst the people who helped him to prepare the book. In short, Day did not have access to anything which isn't publically available... he just embellished a great deal. The reason I don't think 'alfirin' should have a complete article is because the 'golden bell' usage of the term exists in that single line of rhyme from Legolas and nowhere else. That isn't enough information for an entire article. --CBDunkerson 17:10, 2 June 2006 (UTC)

Re: Wikipedia on disc

The project's just getting started, so a lot of things are still up in the air. As far as nominating articles goes, just list them on Wikipedia:Version 0.5 Nominations, and we'll take care of the rest ;-) Kirill Lokshin 08:17, 2 June 2006 (UTC)

It's done on a per-WikiProject basis. There's a short overview of the automatic rating option here (the military history-specific page is here); if this isn't done by a WikiProject, though, it'll still get a rating directly from the 0.5 reviewer. Kirill Lokshin 12:41, 2 June 2006 (UTC)

Question one: nice try ;). Are 789, 124, 365 ok? Question five: I think it's the second bullet.

  • crosses fingers* Will (E@) T 09:38, 2 June 2006 (UTC)

Answers to HQITWS

1 - 123, 764, 895

3 - These two claimed to have taken photos of fairies, which were later proved to be morphed. Conan Doyle also wrote on this

5 - in Oswald's address book was a police oficer's name (I thinks Histy or Hosty), and Oswald sent a letter to him, but this was destroyed later, unless you mean Lee Harvey himself :).

Re: Wow!

I'm also guilty of automatically assuming things when it comes to age, but life's just full of surprises, isn't it? :) Hope this doesn't radically change your perception of me. Cheers, Sango123 21:12, 2 June 2006 (UTC)

Walk tall as the trees,
live strong as the mountains,
be gentle as the spring winds,
keep the warmth of the summer sun
in your heart, and the Great Spirit
will always be with you.

Native American saying

Sweet dear Spawn babe, I want you to thank you from the depths of my heart for your message on my Talk Page expressing concern about me. Reading your words, "I'm saddened to see the blanked user page of yours where a proud eagle was once errected", felt like a slap accross my face, which almost brought me to tears. They made me realize how big of a coward I was being by running away, instead of making a stand and putting the other cheek. You are, in no small measure, responsible for my return. I promise to do my best to never lose hope and leave without a fight again. Thank you, Steven - I swear I'll never forget what you've reminded me today. Big hugs from you friend, Phaedriel tell me - 20:46, 3 June 2006 (UTC)

I always did have a sense for the epic.... I'll respond on your talk... Spawn Man 04:22, 7 June 2006 (UTC). P.S. Thanks for the beautiful N A saying...

And another DYK

On June 4, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Antikythera wreck, which you created. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the "Did you know?" talk page.

and I hate those new message practical jokes... but like your DYK contributions... ++Lar: t/c 22:53, 4 June 2006 (UTC)

Your absence

Hey Steven. I haven't seen you around for several days. Is everything alright? Regards, Sango123 03:21, 6 June 2006 (UTC)

Hey there, what's up Spaw Man? Where are you? --May the Force be with you! Shreshth91(review me!) 08:10, 6 June 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for caring guys, (or girls, but you get what I meant...:)). I've been out with the flu & have had a mighty headache. Will probably be fully running in the next few days, but this is only a quick check... Thanks, Spawn Man 04:25, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

HQITWS

Great to see you back, Spawn Man. For question #2, all I've been able to find so far is the number 130 for "Bush's number" of Israeli deaths.[2] Then, a NYTimes article revises this number to only 1 Israeli death (yeah, I know this isn't the openly Jewish death toll exactly, but...). If neither of these (130 or 1) are the value you're looking for, I'll keep looking XD. Weien 14:19, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

Without knowing it you have answered correctly. 1 is the correct answer. He was only inside the World Trade Centre because he was visiting from another company. Thanks, Spawn Man 00:28, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

Favorite Songs

My survey has changed. I am now continuing my mission for the best songs, but now I am accepting all genres. I'm giving you a chance to revote for your top ten favorite songs of any genres (not just classic rock which is still the best). I've made a executive decision to keep the existing survey results and just add on to that with the new entries. My feeling for doing this is because classic rock is the most influential genre in music currently so it should be expressed more in the survey. Thank you for contributing in the past, and hopefully in the future. ROCK ON. RENTASTRAWBERRY FOR LET? röck 03:18, 9 June 2006 (UTC)

????

Sorry, my cable has been down all weekend so I haven't been able to do much of anything on Velociraptor or Albertosaurus or anything else. I've spent a little time in the library, but this is my birthday weekend so I'm not going to spend all day there. Aside from that, I have NO idea what you are talking about. Are you asking me to hurry up and write stuff (A group only moves as fast as its slowest member) or not write as much (I can't write what I love writing about because it is always rewritten)? If you feel I am not moving fast enough, feel free to move in and write something yourself. I'm not sure why you feel you can't, everyone else in the Project seems to be writing articles left and right. Not angry, just very confused.Sheep81 05:13, 12 June 2006 (UTC)
