Speedy deletion nomination of Global Music Awards edit

Hello, SonicSmithy,

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Hydronium Hydroxide and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I have tagged an article that you started, Global Music Awards, for deletion, because [consensus decision] previously decided that it wasn't suitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. If you wish to restore a page deleted via a deletion discussion, please use the deletion review process instead, rather than reposting the content of the page.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top. If the page is already deleted by the time you come across this message and you wish to retrieve the deleted material, please contact the deleting administrator.

For any further query, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Hydronium Hydroxide}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

@Hydronium Hydroxide: Hi! First of all, thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia by working through the ever increasing backlog of newly created articles. I read the consensus decision that you referenced and hopefully put together a well argued rationale objecting to the speedy deletion request. Happy to discuss this more here or over there. I did a fair bit of research on the organization before writing the article. While I cannot cite independent sources, I also know of several musicians who submitted their work to the Global Music Awards and were rejected. Likewise, I also researched the judges and verified that they are real people and notable musicians. Let me know how we can make progress on this. Thank you. In case the page is deleted, my response there is:
Your first source above appears inapplicable. Your second and third sources fail WP:INDEPENDENT (as well as being basically coverage of a single award, and not the awards as a whole); as does the Rolling Stone source. The other two sources in the article clearly fail WP:INDEPENDENT (as well as WP:RS, etc) -- note also that a notable artist or song winning the award does not confer notability on the award. My arguments at the AFD remain current.
Per WP:GNG, an article requires significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject. If this can't be provided, then the awards are not notable enough for a Wikipedia article. ~Hydronium~Hydroxide~(Talk)~ 07:26, 26 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
