Translations

Hello! I saw you were listed in the german-to-english active translators list, and I was wondering if you could take a quick look at the German sources in the Tamaskan Dog article and let me know if they look like they are self published, or written by the tamaskan breed promoters? Image removal

Hi, I see that you removed my image link at the ref desk (Belvedere). I'm a little confused. If the image is considered appropriate for a page about the artwork, why is it not appropriate for the ref desk? Alternately, if we're being very officious, should it perhaps be removed from the article? Most of our articles about famous works of art contain a low-res image, but I must admit I never bother to check into licensing. Anyway, I appreciate the way you still kept my link in, and I don't want to argue about anything, just curious as to how you're interpreting/enforcing the rules. Oh, I see now that the "fair use" disclaimer associated with the image seems to think that the image is ok on the artwork's page, but that the image may be in violation if used elsewhere... still, isn't discussing what the name of the artwork means "critical commentary", and hence fair use? As you said elsewhere I was erring on the side of caution, but I sincerely apologize for making you waste your time trying to figure this out and for having removed a good contribution (I did think your illustration made the thread more attractive; I've loved Escher since childhood). Yeah, thanks, I'm lazy and suck at the warning thing. I sometimes warn (or rather welcome or leave a dry request to stop) when it's over the top or when the user is registered. That's very kind of you yourself, thank you! It looks like the initiator of what prompted this exchange has been blocked for not being here to build an encyclopedia. I had only caught your edit summary, and thought it best to leave it up to you what to do, just wanted to make sure you knew about the odd fact that the buzzing ANI is subordinate to the slightly less lively AN, and thus apparently has no talk page of its own. A belated thank you

My apologies for taking so long to express my gratitude for the nice, relaxed horses; it's been kind of hectic lately, but that is a poor excuse. I thank you especially for your great compliment - and yes, it's something of a statement on Wikipedia that being called "reasonable" should be considered high praise. I'll admit I'm glad that the 5-year tour of duty is nearly complete (with open cases, I'll probably finish mid-January), and I do know there are some things I've worked on that will have to be left for the new team. I'm hopeful that they're up to the challenge, and that the few kinks that often come up during the early weeks can be worked out in an effective way. There is a big opportunity to move Arbcom in some new directions, and to re-examine how it's doing certain things, and I hope that the 2014 team will keep things moving.
