North Sea

Aren't all the scandies and russia north of North sea?Melonbarmonster 04:47, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

According to the North Sea article, Norway and Denmark are to the east. With this, looking at a map, I'd say Sweden and Russia are east as well. This leaves only Finland and Iceland north of the sea. Norway, Sweden and Russia extend to latitudes north of the sea, but aren't entirely north of it, so I wouldn't characterize the sea as being south of these countries. I'm not sure "some" is the right word, but "many" seemed like a lot. --skew-t 07:21, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

Guardian angel

Hello, Skew. Thank you for reverting vandalism in my user page. --Meno25 17:01, 17 February 2007 (UTC)

Happy to help. Luckily that user seems to have stopped their vandalism spree. --skew-t 23:12, 18 February 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for putting in the References section. I couldn't figure out why my footnotes weren't showing up! Derrrr... Can I ask why you happened to be looking at it when I was struggling with that? --Ossipewsk (talk) 11:29, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

No problem. I was looking through the 'recent changes' link on the left hand side nav thing and it looked like

an interesting edit to check out. The edit I saw was where you took out the 'references needed' template, and noticed the refs weren't showing up so I just copied and pasted the references section code from another page. I'm happy I could help. :) --skew-t (talk) 11:34, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

Mucho appreciado, d00d.  ;-) --Ossipewsk (talk) 22:12, 16 December 2007 (UTC)

Maya Cohen Levy

I declined your speedy tag here. There are two books about her! she will almost certainly very easily pass afd, let alone speedy. Please review the criteria for notability of people, and also for speedies. DGG (talk) 03:09, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

Okie dok. The refs didn't look like books to me, but rather galleries Levy's work has been show at, which would indicate there may not be independent sources showing wide recognition. I'm aware of the notability criteria, and on first glance it did not seem like the article passed muster. Perhaps I jumped the gun, and it's good there are multiple steps in the process. Thanks for looking into it. --skew-t (talk) 07:16, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

Waldemar Wilenius

I had translated this article from Finnish and was adding English-language references when you speedily jumped it on the noteworthiness tag. A bit too speedy! --TTKK (talk) 09:59, 11 November 2008 (UTC)

Whoops. Sorry about that! I didn't realize it was in progress. --skew-t (talk) 10:02, 11 November 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:MACS.gif)

Thanks for uploading Image:MACS.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:23, 17 November 2008 (UTC)

Ahoy - some band Article

Hi there,

You recently deleted (or had passed through RfD) an article called "Seasons in Reverse" which was an article of a band of some sorts (frankly, I care not for this). However, for some reason or another a user associated with that article (Creepybrendan) decided to leave a very strong-worded message on my talk page, left at 13:19 (UTC) on 21 November, 2008. The message can be found here.

I have warned the user about WP:CIVIL, WP:ATTACK and I hope that this will be the resolution of the problem, but I did inform the user that you were the person who had RfDed the article (sorry if that leads to any problems). If he/she does threaten/offend you, please inform me ASAP and we can jointly take action against the user (by using WP approved methods, of course!)

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you need any more information.

Kind Regards,

Booksworm Speak to me! 21:34, 21 November 2008 (UTC)

Okie dok. The user doesn't seem to have any edits since that distasteful comment on your talk. Thanks for the heads up! --skew-t (talk) 13:07, 27 November 2008 (UTC)

smoothvega

Hey there, I was trying to update the smoothvega wikipedia page and I accidently got it deleted. I feel horrible about it because I wsa trying to get the page updated with new informative stuff for the fans and instead I got it deleted. Is there anyway to get the page to the way it was before I touched it up? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Totalpandemonium (talkcontribs) 11:00, 27 November 2008 (UTC)

I'm not sure what you mean. The page seems to still exist, though it has been tagged for speedy deletion for not indicating notability. If you're looking for the content of the page before a specific edit was made, you can click on 'history' at the top of the article page, and then click on the date and time corresponding to the past version of the article you'd like to view.
Also it looks like you've contested the speedy deletion (with {{hangon}}), but have not commented on the talk page as to why you've disputed the deletion. I'd recommend posting on comment there, as well as adding material to the article indicating notability (coverage of the subject by third parties, chart topping hits, etc.), to prevent the article from being deleted by an administrator. --skew-t (talk) 13:02, 27 November 2008 (UTC)

Mapits

Aside from the simple fact that virtually all US municipality/CDP articles contain the Mapits, the standard city layout calls for them in the external links. Is there some other template by which coords may be placed in the ELs? Nyttend (talk) 03:53, 4 December 2008 (UTC)

Coords

yes, the current system is a mess, apparently at some stage, a Wiki native markup will be introduced. I don't know that much about it, but it will do away with all the current ways of dealing with coordinates in wikipedia (including coord) (I'm a stickler for consistency too) --smadge1 (talk) 06:04, 4 December 2008 (UTC)

Gov. Palin

I am the one who added the information about Gov. Palin defeating the Republican incumbent governor in the Republican primary and then a former two-term Democratic governor in the general election. I added that information months ago, then someone else added the names of, and links to, the two governors. The information is also available in the "governor" section.

I am the one who added the information. Hello4321 (talk) 09:57, 14 December 2008 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Gesher excavation

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Gesher excavation, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Article doesn't state notability of subject.

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Edit Warring

Hi, I noticed that there appears to be an edit war going on at Long Island Iced Tea; please be advised that editors are strongly discouraged from repeated reverting. Pursuant to that, I have warned both involved parties. I encourage discussion on the talk page, or if necessary: Dispute Resolution. The three revert rule is a "bright line" in the sand, therefore further violations will result in a block. Regards, Lazulilasher (talk) 02:48, 29 December 2008 (UTC)

Alright. I did not interpret it as an edit war but rather vandalism, as the information changed had a source, while the new material was lacking a source and quick searches resulted in zero Google hits (not to mention by an IP editor). Another editor's reverts seem to support this conclusion. Also, please note that I have not performed more than three reverts, despite the fact that I believe they undid vandalism. I agree however that no more editing should be done on the material without discussion on the talk page. --skew-t (talk) 03:00, 29 December 2008 (UTC)
Well, I remind both parties in these instances; and try to be as impartial as possible. Since you had reverted three times, I felt obligated to remind you as well. Obviously, I realized you had no ill-intentions; thus, I just left a little note. Initially, when I saw the post at AIV, it did not appear to be overt vandalism, but rather an attempt to correct a perceived wrong. That is why I approached you on your talk page. Regardless, I believe that moving to the article talk page is the correct course of action. Best of luck and kindest regards, Lazulilasher (talk) 03:28, 29 December 2008 (UTC)
Okie dok, I understand and appreciate your impartiality. Indeed, if the dispute can be moved to article talk that is most certainly preferable. Thanks, --skew-t (talk) 03:43, 29 December 2008 (UTC)

April 2009

Please remember to mark your edits, such as your recent edits to Long Island Iced Tea, as minor if (and only if) they genuinely are minor edits (see Help:Minor edit). Marking a major change as a minor one is considered poor etiquette. The rule of thumb is that only an edit that consists solely of spelling corrections, formatting changes, or rearranging of text without modifying content should be flagged as a 'minor edit.' Thank you. Kraftlos (Talk | Contrib) 11:34, 8 April 2009 (UTC)

Alright, I generally mark simple undos as minor, but I guess I see your point that it is not blatant vandalism. Not crazy about getting Twinkle templated about etiquette though. --skew-t (talk) 11:50, 8 April 2009 (UTC)
Undos are a content change which is not minor as it could potentially be controversial (unless the undo makes a change that is truly a minor edit). Only things like fixing a template, correcting spelling, minor format changes, etc are minor changes. The template usually is the best and most complete way of explaining something like this, and its not just for IP users and new users. Sorry if I offended you by using a template, and I hope you wont hold it against me.   :-/   --Kraftlos (Talk | Contrib) 04:38, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
By simple undos, I meant that they are small changes; mostly fixing templates/formatting, removing nonsense/vandalism, text that clearly does not belong, etc. It seems clear from the minor edit talk, among other discussions, that 'minor' is subjective and not so cut and dry. Removing vandalism and correcting obvious factual errors are content changes, but are also considered minor. I find using a template to push etiquette in particular is patronizing, as it implies that the editor is unaware of, has not read, or is ignoring the policy. I certainly don't hold it against you however, as I recognize that you did not intend to be condescending. --skew-t (talk) 12:36, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

Nichole Mikko-Causby

I've declined the speedy at Nichole Mikko-Causby, because the award is (in my mind) a clear assertion of importance. I'm rather uncomfortable with the continued existence of this article; if you take it to AFD, I'll support deletion. Nyttend (talk) 02:00, 8 June 2009 (UTC)

I see what you mean. Thanks for the suggestion. I've nominated the article at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Nichole Mikko-Causby. --skew-t (talk) 08:32, 8 June 2009 (UTC)

Farming in Delta Junction

Hi, I've left a note on the Alaska talk page suggesting you make some changes about crops. It would also be good to include this or a similar reference re. "Alaska grown." http://www.redorbit.com/news/science/291440/farm_bureau_looks_to_guard_alaska_grown_logo/ Yopienso (talk) 01:07, 11 July 2009 (UTC)
