Ryuichi Murata

You do realize that the Ryuichi Murata article is nominated for deletion because Ryuichi Murata is non-notable, not because the article was unsourced.... correct? --TreyGeek (talk) 03:25, 14 March 2010 (UTC)

(From TreyGeek's talk page)The sources establish notability, considering there is an interview and other news sources in there. Please do not just remove all sources without discussing it first in the AfD. SilverserenC 03:44, 14 March 2010 (UTC)

The sources do not establish notability, IMO. Per WP:Athlete the person would need to "have competed at the fully professional level of a sport" or "have competed at the highest amateur level of a sport". Spamming a bunch of links does not show that this criteria has been fulfilled.
I respect your desire to want to improve the article. However, spamming a bunch of links in the "External links" section does nothing. If you really want to improve the article, take the information in those links and write it up in the prose section and properly WP:CITE the links as references.
BTW, I have your talk page on my watchlist. Feel free to make any replies here so the conversation can be kept in one place. --TreyGeek (talk) 03:50, 14 March 2010 (UTC)
I was planning to add them to the article. Placing them as external links is a placeholder until I do so. As they are there, other users can see them and check themselves if they prove notability or not. Adding them into the article as references is improving the article, but has nothing to do with proving notability, the sources have to do that. Don't worry, i'll get to adding them in, but that's not the important thing right now. SilverserenC 03:58, 14 March 2010 (UTC)
As I stated before, I don't believe the sources show notability. If you are wanting to provide a list of possible sources for use in the article, the best place for them would be on the article's talk page, or commented out in the article's main page. However, there shouldn't be WP:LINKFARMs on an article. --TreyGeek (talk) 04:03, 14 March 2010 (UTC)
If this article survives AFD you should rewrite it. For example, I don't know anything about the Spirit events, but I doubt they were tournaments. More likely, they were individual matches. The same goes for his PRIDE fight. Papaursa (talk) 16:12, 15 March 2010 (UTC)
From what it says on the Spirit MC article, it was a professional league promotion. I'm not sure that that counts, but it appears to. Looking at the list of promotions on the botton, almost all of them are majority used by Japanese MMA fighters, besides that it's being listed as a national tournament on the profile pages. DYK for Migralepsy

On March 19, 2010, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Migralepsy, which you created or substantially expanded. You are welcome to check how many hits your article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check ) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

Here to help articles tagged for rescue!

Hi, Silver seren, welcome to the Article Rescue Squadron! We are a growing community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to identifying and rescuing articles that have been tagged for deletion. Every day hundreds of articles are deleted, many rightfully so. But many concern notable subjects and are poorly written, which can be fixed and should not be deleted. We try to help these articles quickly improve and address the concerns of why they are proposed for deletion. This covers a lot of ground and your help is appreciated!

If you have any questions, feel free to post a question on the talk page.

Copyvio

Good work on the above, but please note that another Administrator, far more involved in copyvio work than I am, also agreed the link was a copyright violation and replaced it with a link to the article itself. I've then removed the link as it doesn't discuss anything called the 'Kharsag Epics' and in any case fraudulently reported the archaeologist's opinions.

I also agree with the editor who points out that the External links section isn't an appropriate place to dump links, please use the talk page for that. Thanks. Dougweller (talk) 21:16, 21 March 2010 (UTC)

Vermin Poets

Your flagging the article for rescue is laudable. I hope references from reliable sources can be found to rescue it, but two of the external links you added are to sites selling the band's wares. These are, ipso facto, spam links, and I have removed them and will continue to remove them as spam links. Fiddle Faddle (talk) 21:47, 21 March 2010 (UTC)

Kharsag Epics

Hello there. Thanks for your flagging the article for rescue. You seem great at finding sources and any more or help on that page would be appreciated. I'm hoping the article might be saved by having so many fringe citations it becomes a noteable topic. The problem is perhaps lack of debunking evidence, which I also have been searching for 2 years, even going to Lebanon to find without success. Hopefully will have a Daily Mail type source for it after a press release soon to ensure it's acceptance. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Paul Bedson (talkcontribs) 17:17, 22 March 2010 (UTC)

Thanks again! I think I've found an article by Dr. Emilio Spedicato to save it. It has conflicting interests, but I think that's what Doug wanted. :-) Paul Bedson (talk) 18:48, 22 March 2010 (UTC)

Canvassing notice.

Hello. It appears that you have been canvassing—leaving messages on others' talk pages[1] to notify them of an ongoing community decision, debate, or vote—in order to influence WP:Articles for deletion/Kent Glowinski (2nd nomination). While friendly notices are allowed, they should be limited and nonpartisan in distribution and should reflect a neutral point of view. Please do not post notices which are indiscriminately cross-posted, which espouse a certain point of view or side of a debate, or which are selectively sent only to those who are believed to hold the same opinion as you. Remember to respect Wikipedia's principle of consensus-building by allowing decisions to reflect the prevailing opinion among the community at large. — Rankiri (talk) 20:37, 25 March 2010 (UTC)

...huh? Who have I been canvassing? SilverserenC 20:59, 25 March 2010 (UTC)
  • I'm talking about your message on Wikipedia talk:Article Rescue Squadron#Kent Glowinski AfD. Even if one can argue that the Article Rescue Squadron is a completely unprejudiced group, the message itself ("...he is ridiculously notable and yet a bunch of people went in there and voted delete without even trying to look up any sources") can hardly be considered impartial and neutrally worded. — Rankiri (talk) 21:19, 25 March 2010 (UTC)
Then, I apologize. I did not mean to canvas. I didn't think enough about the remark when I made it. SilverserenC 22:28, 25 March 2010 (UTC)

Concern about your essay

Hi! I've posted in your editor review, but since this is a specific concern I'm going to post it here instead. Reading your essay, I strongly suggest that you remove the paragraph about a specific editor. Personal attacks are not acceptable anywhere, including your own userspace. Thank you for understanding. Jafeluv (talk) 15:47, 30 March 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, I was wondering about that. So it even counts as a personal attack when i'm only speaking about his actions as an admin and his editing, not himself as a person? Because that's what the paragraph is about, his negative actions when he was an admin. Which...were essentially proven true when he was desysopped. SilverserenC 17:05, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
Definitely it counts. Derogatory comments about another contributor are personal attacks no matter how you phrase them. Jafeluv (talk) 17:47, 30 March 2010 (UTC)

Suggestion

I think you might like to look at the relist template talk page where I've made a suggestion that may solve the restatement of opinion issue. It's dead easy to do, but it really ought to be discussed first since this is a visible template and for "professional" use. Fiddle Faddle (talk) 16:36, 30 March 2010 (UTC)

Circumvention?

I circumvented nothing. First, redirecting an article is not deletion, and does not "circumvent" a "no consensus" outcome in any way, shape, or form. Second, as you admitted in the discussion on the talk page, "N.I.N.A." is not the name of an album, which makes the lead demonstrably false. Third, all sourced information in the article was kept. What's the complaint?—Kww(talk) 21:02, 31 March 2010 (UTC)

Talk:N.I.N.A.#Redirect_discussion could use words from you.—Kww(talk) 21:52, 31 March 2010 (UTC)

Procedure with kept articles after a Rescue

When an article like William "Bill" McKinney is kept, is the Rescue template removed after the decison? --DThomsen8 (talk) 23:51, 3 April 2010 (UTC)

Yes, as there is no reason to keep it around once a decision has been made, since the template is only to inform about the need to improve an article (if possible) to make it meet notability standards. SilverserenC 23:58, 3 April 2010 (UTC)

Flagging Will Grayson, Will Grayson for further review

Hello, Silver seren … I recently encountered the article about Will Grayson, Will Grayson and in my opinion, it either does not verifiably satisfy the Notability criteria for Fiction, or it may violate the Conflict of interest guideline, or perhaps it violates a copyright.

I am considering tagging Will Grayson, Will Grayson (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) for deletion according to the Deletion policy … I do not have time to examine the article in depth at the moment, and it may improve over time, in which case this warning was premature.

I have created this initial entry on your Talk page because you are either the original author of the article, or else a recent contributor to it; I will leave more detailed information regarding my specific concerns about the article on its Discussion page … please respond either there or on this Talk page, instead of on my Talk page, in order to avoid fragmenting the conversation.

Be sure to read Ownership of articles, and remember that Some Other Editors (including at least one administrator) may not share your opinion about the notability of the article's subject.

I do not mean to imply that your contribution is unappreciated … perhaps you should read Starting an article … and remember, there was a time when I knew less about how Wikipedia works than you know right now, and I am always available to help you become a more proactive contributor.

To better understand why I have used this template, please read Flag templates for deletion warnings … I realize that some of the expressed possible concerns may not be appropriate in this case. — 71.166.147.78 (talk) 03:51, 10 April 2010 (UTC)

Whilst new sources are welcome, rather than dumping in external links could you try to incorporate them as references in the article as per WP:CITE. LibStar (talk) 08:07, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

You are right, and after I added that reference, I saw that it was already in the article references. --DThomsen8 (talk) 18:21, 11 April 2010 (UTC)

Curious about your methods

I notice you tag some articles for Rescue and add links to them, but then don't say anything in the AFD discussion itself. Why is that? In Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Samantha_Youssef, we have it relisted because no one bothered to comment. Dream Focus 05:16, 17 April 2010 (UTC)

Kharsag

Hi Silver, The above topic has been deleted a couple of times and merged into Christian O'Brien. It's quite clearly a different word than the Kharsag Epics, which only narrowly lost it's AfD discussion (thanks again for your help). I have provided numerous new scholarly, noteable, verifiable, non-fringe cites to support it's existence as a page and it now looks very out of place on the O'Brien page. Not wanting to push my own POV, I was hoping you might agree on it's restoration as an independent page and be able to help in creating this. Thanks in advance for any further help and support you can offer. Kind Regards, Paul Bedson (talk) 00:45, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

Aingers Green

I think you're confused about what constitutes a source. You added three external links that only mention Aingers Green in passing. This is problematic for several reasons. WP:External links aren't WP:Sources, they are external links. According to our policy on links to be avoided, we should not include sites that are only indirectly related to the article's subject. The articles you linked to aren't about Aingers Green. One is about a man who had a accident and the others are about a pub. That they mention Aingers Green doesn't make them relevant to the article. Please read up on our reliable sources policy and don't remove templates unless you've actually taken care of the problem. Remember, the role of sources isn't to prove existence (though they do that to), they are to verify the claims that are being made in our articles. AniMate 09:10, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

Wow. This external link you added doesn't even mention the subject of the article, which is the song "After All" by Patty Loveless. The "reference" is about Patty Loveless and Vince Gill and has the words "after", "all", and "song" in it. This doesn't have sources, it has external links and further reading. Those aren't sources. Same thing here. This is the same problem we encountered on Aingers Green. This edit to Acron, Florida is the only decent one of the bunch, because it's actually a reference and the reference actually supports what the article is saying. Please be much, much more careful in the future. AniMate 09:24, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

Thank you for coming to the defense of User:UpstateNYer I've worked with him on Wikipedia for a couple years now and he really doesnt deserve the treatment he is receiving from two editors who feel they have to "watch" him and I know its terrible that I dont give them more good faith but their words and actions in other places and here have just simply made me lose any respect I could have had for them.Camelbinky (talk) 21:41, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

Given those editor's history and now their threat to remove any more of our comments, and apparently Rico has removed some of Upstater's comments already do you feel an AN/I report is warrented? I defer to your judgement as I think you have more experience on what will be handled and what will be ignored there.Camelbinky (talk) 01:03, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
In terms of Rico, yes. Actively removing comments from article talk pages, especially comments that are about the subject at hand, even more so when in the middle of an argument with someone, is completely out of hand. I don't think I shall make it though, as i'm not terribly involved in the situation, but I will add my comments to it, if you would like. SilverserenC 05:38, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
I never threatened to remove any Wikipedian's comments, and the posts I deleted were inserted into the middle of a post of mine, but if you think you can make a case, and that is what you want, go right ahead. -- Rico
I brought Rico to AN/I. Your comments on the situation would be helpful. Thank you.Camelbinky (talk) 23:35, 26 April 2010 (UTC)

It's pretty simple- if you see a vandal, whack the button and the vandalism goes away, giving you a custom edit summary like:
It only works on the the most recent edit and takes the page back to the last version that wasn't the vandal's. Just a quicker way of reverting blatantly bad edits. If you request it, I'd be happy to put a good word in for you. Best, HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 00:55, 28 April 2010 (UTC)

You're talking about an ArbCom case, right? All the info you need is here. But really think about whether you really want to do this: AC is not magic; they cannot fix all the problems. The evidence and workshop pages for the case will be a suckfest extraordinaire, I am quite confident of that, and some people are going to be pissed out of their minds as a result of the final decision. Mind you, I'm guessing the case is going to happen whether you file it or not. Anyway, you decide what you must do. Heimstern Läufer (talk) 07:51, 4 May 2010 (UTC)

No I do not, but that's still no valid rationale to use copyrighted material and apparently "fair use" doesn't apply when free alternatives are or can be created. I have seen non-free images being removed left and right from biographies stating the same thing I have. Images aren't required for articles. If you object, we can go to the proper noticeboard and get a broad consensus. Mike Allen 08:29, 4 May 2010 (UTC)

Okay! I will work it out ASAP! I will reconstruct the whole page and find reliable sources as possible! Just give me time! maybe a week! chow! --Jaypeepacres (talk) 23:08, 7 May 2010 (UTC)

I know that it will not be deleted. Just give me time to do the necessary bearings. If you still insist, its up to you. --Jaypeepacres (talk) 23:15, 7 May 2010 (UTC)
Thanks! I currently updated two ship articles such as the Costa Luminosa and Costa Pacifica, which were unsourced or lacks inline citations before. Would you mind watching them over. --Jaypeepacres (talk) 23:21, 7 May 2010 (UTC)

Thank you. :) I'll keep doing my best to save those articles that would be unnecessarily deleted. So that list will become even more endless. I might even have to move it to a subpage eventually. :P SilverserenC 19:37, 9 May 2010 (UTC)

AN3 Report Archived

I asked over on Black Kite's talk page about an AN3 Report I filed that was archived mistakenly by a bot, without any admin response on it. Black Kite has yet to respond, so I came to see if maybe you were on to help. The user has stated that they have an illness and will not be editing for one to two weeks. I'm not sure if the report should be replied to and finished by an admin now or if it should wait, though it would be considered stale by then if we decide to wait. Please let me know what the proper course of action is. Also, another report was archived by a bot about someone else's case, if you'd care to check it out as well. Thanks. SilverserenC 06:12, 15 May 2010 (UTC)

Anything that gets archived without action is probably stale by definition. WP:AN is probably a good place to bring things like this up in the future if they're getting ignored. Stifle (talk) 09:12, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
So it's my fault that no admin took a look at it? :/ SilverserenC 09:19, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
No, it's not. But blocks are meant to be preventative not punitive, so in the absence of further disruption it is not appropriate to take further action here. Stifle (talk) 09:26, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
That makes sense. Sorry for taking up your time. I guess if, after he returns, he continues the same actions, then I will go to AN with it. SilverserenC 09:32, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
Don't be sorry, it's my responsibility to deal with things like this. Stifle (talk) 09:47, 15 May 2010 (UTC)

User:White Shadows/Wikipedia is falling apart

Hello there. (We met in the Tan39 incident) I noticed that you have a userbox that links to my essay. How do you feel about it? Is the essay good? But I really caem here to ask you to help me expand it. I feel that a section about amdins and other userrights and climbing the "greasy pole" or wikipedia needs to be added in. Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated (I noticed that you wrote an essay about how you feel about the project as well) Perhaps you'd like to write such a section in my essay? What do you think? Thanks,--White Shadows you're breaking up 02:01, 18 May 2010 (UTC)

Let's take this discussion to the essay talk page, it's better if we discuss things there. SilverserenC 02:10, 18 May 2010 (UTC)
Agreed. However I'm going to bed in the next few minutes and I'll not be editing for the next 20 hours or so. I hope that you can take on the task of writeing such a section.--White Shadows you're breaking up 02:13, 18 May 2010 (UTC)
I'm back on :)--White Shadows you're breaking up 20:59, 18 May 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, sorry I haven't done anything yet. I got caught up in referencing unreferenced BLP's and now some rather personal things have happened and i'm trying to lose myself in referencing so I don't have to think about it. Can I take a rain check? It'll be just for a few days, but I will be back to help with the essay, promise. SilverserenC 21:02, 18 May 2010 (UTC)
No problems at all :)--White Shadows you're breaking up 21:04, 18 May 2010 (UTC)

saffron terror - POV

Hi, The statements there are purely POV and are not from reliable sources. It's whose point of view, that its a balancing act? No. Not at all. I would like to ask you not to revert that.Wasifwasif (talk) 09:29, 21 May 2010 (UTC)

These changes are POV, as it has never been proven that Hindu terrorists were actually involved, it has only been suspected, so getting rid of that wording is a POV opinion. Therefore, I have reverted it, again. However, I did add back in the sentence you added, as that is perfectly fine to be in the lead. I would advise that you read NPOV. SilverserenC 17:48, 21 May 2010 (UTC)

Kaavalkaaran

Even though it's a remake, it might not always follow precisely the same storyline as the original and the end product might have some changes (most remakes in the past, like the Tamil Ghajini and the Hindi Ghajini, prove this). Since you are listing the plot details well before the release of the film, you should make sure that Kaavalkaaran's plot details are verifiable (i.e. find a source that specifically says that what you wrote is indeed Kaavalkaaran's story). Sources are important as already we are having a hard time finding sources for the Joseph Vijay article itself so it's important to use reliable sources.

That plot summary is also much too detailed, compared to the rest of the article. According to Wikipedia's Manual of Style, plot summaries should balance with the rest of the article. If you would like, you can provide a short synopsis of what the story will be since it is a remake (remember to find a source if you can for this) and make sure it is short--no more than 5 sentences and shouldn't contain character names (unless character names in Kaavalkaaran are confirmed by a source).

Overall, there is no specific need to write the plot details right now--it is much too early. Nowhere does it say Vijay's character name in Kaavalkaaran will be Jayakrishnan or Asin's name would be Ammu. They could potentially change. Therefore I am asking you to wait until reliable sources (such as IndiaGlitz or Behindwoods) can give details before you start to write such information. Otherwise, it would be considered speculation, which isn't allowed here. Eelam StyleZ (talk) 01:48, 24 May 2010 (UTC)

Corn vs. Maize

You are one of several editors who have indicated concern with the fact that when a person wants the article on Corn, they will have trouble finding what they want, because they are not sent to the article on the grain that most of the English-speaking world calls "corn". Furthermore, the disambiguation page to which they are sent has not appeared helpful. I recently changed the wording on the dab page in question, and would like your input whether or not the present version reduces the problem to an acceptable level.

Full disclosure: I was one who once fought hard for Maize to be moved to Corn, but I didn't get my way. So now I just want to make it better. HuskyHuskie (talk) 04:04, 23 July 2010 (UTC)

Saffron Terror-Stop deleting contents without discussing.

. Please make it a habit to discuss before you remove some contents. that too on a sensitive article where more number of editors are working it is always better to look at their views rather than high handedly emptying the sections. Please Stop removing the headings. there are many editors who can work on this topic. If you have concern with the sources, just discuss. What wrong did u find the sub headings to be there.? DYK for Kenai Peninsula Wolf

-- Cirt (talk) 00:03, 11 August 2010 (UTC)

reply to your question

I have no problem if the article is split. The haaretz/forward quote has the one mention of 9/11 in the entire article and that quote is referring to a set of spying allegations occuring around the same time as the art student spying allegations. I am getting tired of defending a reliably sourced article against the constant misleading statemets of other users. I think I am going to take a break from editing wikipedia soon for at least a couple of days, maybe even a couple of weeks or more. I've made about a years worth of contributions to wikipedia in only a few weeks. Someone will need to keep watch over the article though. The title should also be changed as it doesn't refer to the spying allegations in the least anymore. Possibly to Israeli 'art student' spy ring allegations or Israeli 'art student' espionage allegations. Preciseaccuracy (talk) 08:27, 11 August 2010 (UTC)

You could have easily removed the Tick, not the entire comment. Removal of the entire comment is a violation of WP:TPO. SilverserenC 17:06, 12 August 2010 (UTC)

You can edit war you POV but you have no support , that DYK will never go , you are an administrator but recently I have found your contributions very poor indeed. Off2riorob (talk) 17:10, 12 August 2010 (UTC)

I'm...not an administrator. O_o You apparently missed the userbox that says "This user is not an administrator and doesn't wish to be one." And you seem to be overly combative about this topic for reasons I cannot fathom. SilverserenC 17:13, 12 August 2010 (UTC)

Discussion about Chiropractic

There's more discussion going on, this time about whether/how to incorporate sources which address the underlying/specific claims made by Ernst. It'd be good to have you check the sourcing and presentation in Talk:Chiropractic#Proposed_edits_to_Safety. Thanks! Ocaasi (talk) 02:29, 14 August 2010 (UTC)

Silver seren, you have not shown how cherry picking references against MEDRS is NPOV. QuackGuru (talk) 02:52, 14 August 2010 (UTC)
I do not see how the sources are "cherry-picked". They all appear to be reliable and medical-based and fill the requirements of WP:MEDRS. The only questionable one I see would be the first one. The rest appear to be exactly the kind of sources that MEDRS asks for. SilverserenC 02:59, 14 August 2010 (UTC)
I don't see how you have explained how the references meet MEDRS. QuackGuru (talk) 03:01, 14 August 2010 (UTC)
Continue this conversation on the Chiropractic talk page, not on my talk page. This should be an open discussion for others to participate in. SilverserenC 03:02, 14 August 2010 (UTC)
Which references are reviews per MEDRS. QuackGuru (talk) 03:05, 14 August 2010 (UTC)
You have not shown that any of the newly added references are as reliable as the current references used in the safety section in the chiropractic page. QuackGuru (talk) 03:32, 14 August 2010 (UTC)
Again, please stop using my talk page for this discussion. This should be kept at the talk page for Chiropractic, not my user talk page. SilverserenC 03:34, 14 August 2010 (UTC)

Help

Yes thanks. Actually I'm working on it now, what I could use is a pic of the "painting factories" something like what's discussed halfway down this page [6]. Please let me do the first draft of the Spy article and in a few hours I'll send you a link then we can work on it. Cheers, RomaC TALK 00:16, 17 August 2010 (UTC) ADD: Also, as they have some good numbers on the painting factories' output, do you think the above site would pass RS for that purpose? RomaC TALK 00:24, 17 August 2010 (UTC)

Yes the site appears to be a Shanghai city guide but it does look fairly professionally put together, and for just the numbers and information on the "art factories" I doubt it would be challenged, but we'll see. The best pic would be an art factory in China which sees to be the main source for these paintings. Or maybe a pic of a mass-produced painting would be easier to locate? Anyway I have slashed the "Spy" article, more work to do with refs and section titling, can you have a look? [7]. RomaC TALK 01:21, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
Also have a draft of the art scam article here [8]. RomaC TALK 02:43, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
