Adoption edit

I see you were requesting to be adopted. I'm not big in chemistry, but I am as far as you can get in 7th grade. I would love to be in the Acdec at my high school, if we have one. Paleontology, climatology, and chemistry were my favorite Science subjects, but I do love Math a little more. I have been on Wikipedia for about 6 (almost 7) months now, and I would like to adopt you. Here's a nice lil Userbox: {{Removed stale adoptoffer template, clearing out categories as part of an reorganization of adopt-a-user to make it more efficient. Stubs and Such edit

Glad you found what you needed! :-D However, there are many easier ways, and my suggestion would be categories. If you haven't used them, they are in the gray box at the bottom of the page. I used Albert Oppel as my guinea pig, since you sent me that picture URL. I went to the page, and since it was a stub it had a category, namely Category:Paleontologist stubs. There is an easy way (though I made it hard) to find categories of stubs you are looking for. Hope that helps in the future! Chrishyman 00:51, 29 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Some people go get an anti-vandal tool, like Twinkle or Lupin to do vandalism reverts. I, however, like both. I am currently working on an article on my area's high school because I have found it to be linked, when no one has created the article. Good luck with your article. List of Asian American Hip Hop Artists edit

The most detailed description of what goes in a Wikipedia list would be Wikipedia:Lists#List naming and list contents. Specific stuff on making membership of the list clear is also in Wikipedia:Lists in Wikipedia#List membership criteria. Your list in particular seems to be a cross section of 'Category:Asian Americans' and 'Category:Hip hop musicians' or 'Category:American hip hop musicians.' (I don't know how to link those without making you an American Asian hip hop musician.)

As for your new articles not being allowed, that shouldn't necessarily preclude their inclusion in a list. Lots of fiction projects make a list of minor characters that would never make their own article. Make sure anything you put in is from a reliable source; that it's from a publication that has editors and fact checking, not the artist own publicity site.

Any article needs at least one notable source to prove it is significant enough to be in an article. Notability is subjective and fuzzy and treated different by different people in different moods, to my experience, though. In order to maximize your chances, read the guideline for notability, and Wikipedia:Notability (people). If you can't create a solid argument to justify the inclusion of an article based on those, then it probably doesn't belong on Wikipedia. Unless some other hip hop expert can, then it does. Wikipedia is a bureaucracy. :/ Spriteless 15:47, 22 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

The easiest way to make a category is to add [[Category:Category name]] to the bottom of the page, and then follow the link. it makes at the bottom of pages. However, there's a rule against creating a category for an intersection of ethnicity and something not affected by that. So unless there's an argument for being Asian American affecting one's hip hop career, that's out. There's still the seperate categories for Asian Americans and Hip Hop artists, though. Contesting CSD edit

Hi, you can't contest a speedy deletion nomination under the assumption that someone else will. This adds to the ever-increasing backlog at CAT:CSD- many people who do not accept the speedy deletion add frivolous information, troll, or simply never return to the article.-Wafulz 16:57, 23 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Catholic dioceses in Nicaragua edit

Please hang on. I created the page and had all of 30 seconds before you tagged it for speedy deletion. I appreciate that my work has attracted moderator attention, but just give me a sec to complete the page.

List of Catholic dioceses in Nicaragua is what the page looks like now. Benkenobi18 02:17, 9 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

I understand that but between the page creation and the tag for deletion was less then 10 minutes. You actually caused me an edit conflict as I was inserting my information causing me to lose my work and having to redo it all.

Please, check the creation date of the page, before tagging for deletion. 10 minutes is unacceptable amount of time from page creation to filling in information. I understand that you would like page editors to put it all in, all at once but that is not how I work. I like to create the page first, make sure the page fits in where it should and then add information. If the category links are functioning, then I know that the page should be fine.

I appreciate your diligence with respect to new pages, but please, if you are taking the time to tag new articles as they are created for deletion, then please allow the page creator time to add his material.

Points if you get the reference. I'll give you a hint - it has to do with Les Misérables.

RE: Iranian women AfD edit

Hooray! Our talk page has an audience!

BF, like many others, is simply passionate about his work. To me, the article in question was simply an inefficiency. To him, the article is a monument to an oppressed gender from his culture, and he had other reasons for defending that article that I won't get into - that's for him to divulge if he feels it necessary. So, he saw it as something to defend from an individual who he perceived as attacking said monument. While I may not agree with that particular line of thought, I can certainly understand it.

As far as taking the abuse: Once you get married, try waking your wife at 3 AM to borrow the truck she so desperately loves to deliver papers. If you live through the resulting onslaught, I promise you'll be ready for just about anything. Sidatio 15:27, 12 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

User:JetLover/Just got owned edit

Regarding this: It's just a little piece of mind. I just happen to find that kind of thing annoying and too many still believe it's hilarious. Which is kind of alright for new users who just figure how to use markup, but sooner or later anyone should realise that it's actually old and lame. And how would they find out if not for someone stating their honest opinion about it? Why did you think it was rude? I think it'd a lot more rude if I withheld my opinion. This way, JetLover can decide to either ignore my comment or not. I wanted to offer him this choice, nothing else. —AldeBaer 02:29, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

If you don't want others' opinions, you can always chose to ignore them. But a page that says "Please add yourself to the list and a comment if you like" just invites me and anyone to make a comment and so I followed that invitation. —AldeBaer 02:36, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
Of course you're free to revert it, but (i) I don't believe I was being more rude than you appear to be sensitive about it because it affects a judgement regarding your own taste and (ii) may I suggest extending the "limited" invitation to explicitly state that criticism of your taste is unwelcome because you consider it rude and don't want to hear about it? Just kidding. You'll find your way, I'm sure. —AldeBaer 02:43, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

Please don't be so sensitive when someone gives you an honest opinion. —AldeBaer 02:53, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

In regards to joke pages, reactions, and senses of humor edit

Okay, after looking at the whole exchange, here's the way I see it:

  • AldeBaer obviously didn't find the joke funny. Maybe he was annoyed by getting caught out by it, maybe he's having a bad day. Who knows? In the end, for whatever reason, he voiced his displeasure. Could he have done it more civilly? Sure, but it is what it is.
  • Silver seren took umbrage to the comment left. Why? Who knows - normally, he's pretty jovial about such things. Maybe he was annoyed that someone went out of their way to try to goad him, maybe he's having a bad day. Who knows? In the end, for whatever reason, he fed into the remark and got into a sparring match with AldeBaer. Was that the best course of action? I wouldn't have done it, but that's my opinion; last I checked, my opinion wasn't absolute law.. yet.

To AldeBaer: So you got caught out by a silly little joke. Do you really need to pick a fight over it? There's honest opinions, and then there's being uncivil. If you want to find the line there and stay on the "honest opinion" side, that'd be super. If not - well, that's on you. Karma comes and goes around, right?

To Silver seren: Buddy, I like you, I think you're a great guy. Having said that, I'm going to give you the best advice I've ever been given - learn to pick your battles. Some things don't even need to be addressed, and trust me, this is a textbook example of something to ignore. If ignoring doesn't work, try ridicule. If someone's gonna be a pain, you might as well entertain yourself and others. ;-)

Well, that was fun. Maybe I should go edit an article now - or better yet, play Worms. There's just something about homicidal worms that makes me feel all sunny inside. Sidatio 03:19, 15 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

I wasn't ignoring you, I was logged off as my contrib history may show you. —AldeBaer 11:40, 15 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Actually, I wasn't "caught out" by that "joke". Having seen this on too many user pages already, I always look at the status bar in my browser which tells me where a link goes. Also, I suggest you heed Sidatio's advice: As I told you, you're very welcome to just ignore my opinion. But: Should you request an editor review some day, chances are that someone's going to point out how that joke is not the best idea, to put it as mildly as I can think of, as happened here, here, here, here, and here. One comment in one of those editor reviews I particularly liked was "I would consider removing it as it "really" confuses newcomers and that is not what we want, and it really tires the experienced users who get a lot of messages."
Also, here's an example of a less civil way to tell someone their opinion about that prank new messages bar. —AldeBaer 11:55, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

Of course we can drop it at this point, I think we both have made our positions clear. I'd appreciate it though if you'd take a look at the editor reviews I linked to above. Have a nice day. —AldeBaer 15:31, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

You're welcome. —AldeBaer 15:42, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

Christianity Explored - request for advice. edit

Hi,

I noticed that Christianity Explored has been created and deleted twice - I think with two entirely separate articles - and I gather that the last to be deleted was a no-contest deletion as a spammy article with no assertion of notability. I haven't seen it of course, since it was deleted.

IMO Christianity Explored is notable and Wiki should have a good article about it ... but rather than leap in where Angels fear to tread (or fly?) I have created a personal sandbox page to draft something.

I would be grateful for your views - I am contacting all those who commented in the last deletion debate, as you will have seen the previous article.

The article is at [[1]]

reply edit

Hello, Silver seren.

The user who wrote the essay, Ionas68224, has been blocked, as I'm sure you know. This block, to my knowledge, did not come from his beliefs about Wikipedia. It came from his troll-like comments, and then (after the initial block) from his abusive e-mails. He was also blocked indefinitely on meta-wiki for writing some pretty silly threats to Jimbo, but threats nonetheless. He just came out of a three-day block at simple wikipedia. He also has an account at a forum mostly used by banned users to vent about Wikipedia. This has led me to believe that he is only craving attention. I guess sort of like a Daniel Brandt wannabe. Answer me this:Do you want to end up like that?

From what I see, the current system in Wikipedia, as far as admins go, is not a big problem. Now, if admins were blocking every person that constructively critisized them, that would be an issue. I'm tired of this whole "cabal" issue, as I've been putting up with it for a couple weeks at simple english wikipedia now. You can agree with it if you like. Just please don't get yourself blocked. If you just stay in the mainspace, none of it matters much. Take my advice: stay away from those you dislike. If I were you, I would not get anywhere near Ryulong and the type. Nothing you say or do will help anything, like a bug against a windshield. If you do get upset about something, I suggest take a wikibreak until you are able to calm down. --Isis4563(talk) 23:12, 20 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

I mean that you should be careful. Vent to the wrong person...well, it could end up badly for both people. I'm always open for venting, though. :) --Isis4563(talk) 23:25, 20 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
I don't mean that you will get blocked for venting. I mean, that user might get offended, you will get in a big dispute, an admin will get involved, and you will both end up blocked. Perhaps I'm looking on the dark side of things. Still, better to be safe than sorry, eh? :) --Isis4563(talk) 23:38, 20 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Well the first thing you need to do is check "raw signature" in "my preferences". Then for colors: well one day satan came along and told someone to found the W3C and make style sheets. Now he told the person to make style sheets and use the "font tag" <font color="Blue"> Text goes here </font> and now we can't just use <blue>insert text here</blue>, but God also decided that humans needed some joy in XHTML too so he made the <b>bold tag</b> and the <small>subscript tag and the one that keeps these from being formated: <nowiki>the nowiki tag</nowiki>.

About Sidatio edit

I can't find anything about a WP policy on pursuing threatening behavior from editors beyond a ban. I'm sure you've seen this at Wikipedia:Harassment:

Harassment of other Wikipedians in forums not controlled by the Wikimedia Foundation creates doubt as to whether an editor's on-wiki actions are conducted in good faith. As per WP:NPA#Off-wiki personal attacks, off-wiki harassment can and will be regarded as an aggravating factor by administrators and is admissible evidence in the dispute-resolution process, including Arbitration cases. In some cases, the evidence will be submitted by private email. As is the case with on-wiki harassment, off-wiki harassment can be grounds for blocking, and in extreme cases, banning. Off-wiki privacy violations shall be dealt with particularly severely.

I suspect that legally WP is only obligated to ban the user as per their written policies and to cooperate with any discovery proceedings initiated through a controlling court. "Communicating threats" is a crime usually prosecuted in the state where the behavior occurs, but last I heard the federal courts controlled the interweb (see United States v. Baker; that case failed, but it's clear precedent for FBI involvement in "communicating threats"). I see on Death Threats are Serious that the individual is believed to live in Quincy Mass. Unless Sidatio do also, they probably should contact their local FBI with the evidence they have and see if the FBI is willing to pursue. I'm very sorry to hear about this situation, as well as totally freaked out by the idea that somebody could get Sidatio's personal information. Any ideas how they got it? --Moonriddengirl 17:49, 22 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Oh, I had read that about mailing Sam Harris but forgotten the specifics. :/ I haven't found a disclaimer specifically addressing this, but I know that legally Wikipedia is classed as an ISP, and ISPs have done everything in their power to avoid liability for the actions of users. There was an article about that last year on Techdirt. As long as Wikipedia shows good faith efforts to control illegal activities by editors, they are probably satisfying all legal requirements. I hope that the police and FBI can help Sidatio. If you are in contact with them, please give them my good wishes.
I just read H's page. That stuff is so scary. There's a probably perfectly nice Indian gentleman who was recently trying to get my real name out of me even though I explained that because of vandalism I prefer to remain completely anonymous. Given his edit history, I think that guy was on the up and up. I also think he has no idea how dangerous this environment can be. :( Frankly, though I don't plan to change it now, I don't think I'm all that smart to tell people I'm female. Who would think you'd get hit on in a text environment like this? This isn't myspace! --Moonriddengirl 19:37, 22 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, it was quite a shock when they went away. We were right in the middle of a project, which I'm still sort of plugging away at even though I don't know if it will push through without him (and her). Given the tensions the ongoing situation must have caused, I'm amazed that they were willing and able to continue with business as usual as they did. --Moonriddengirl 20:37, 22 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Sources edit

And what sources might that be? You mean the ones on Gloucester county's page? I just want to make 100% sure that no other Wikipeidan can put the

tag on that page! It must beat Marlith's page to GA! Or the [ citation needed ] tag--Kkrouni/Ккроуни/ΚκρΩυνι 01:21, 23 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Oh right! I forgot to add those after using them. Thanks for reminding me! Wow that might have been bad.--Kkrouni/Ккроуни/ΚκρΩυνι 01:25, 23 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
P.S. Like you're raindrop!--Kkrouni/Ккроуни/ΚκρΩυνι 02:45, 23 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Userbar edit

No it was supposed to be an attack to you're formating. Anyways, I just coppied mine and put you're name everywhere, It was nothing. I could make subpages for it, like mine and what I put onhere. —The preceding signed but undated comment was added at 17:33, August 23, 2007 (UTC).

Oh and you know you can make new sections right? Just use the plus thingy next to the edit tab on talk pages. You know, because I forget to check there every day. Gosh these doughnuts between my teeth hurt! I don't think braces will hurt this much! And I just got in a EC with another d*** bot for the millionth time this week on a talk page for not signing a talk page. You here that you stupid script codes? I signed see here! -->--Kkrouni/Ккроуни/ΚκρΩυνι 17:37, 23 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Oh yeah, to get a normal userbar, look at these:

--Kkrouni/Ккроуни/ΚκρΩυνι 17:39, 23 August 2007 (UTC) I signed twice today evil signbot! --Kkrouni/Ккроуни/ΚκρΩυνι 17:39, 23 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

You may find this strange, but I'm working on a bot about 10 minutes a week in my spare time, mabey they (the other bots) know that this bot will get all bots banned forever, or replace them all! *Queue weird hippie colors, and twilight zone music* Anyways about all the sections, I can get a bot to archive those at any interval of time you want, if you want.--Kkrouni/Ккроуни/ΚκρΩυνι 17:43, 23 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

The code edit

You just copy the code into subpages, oh wait, you don't need the status one, I did that for you. Just copy the text at the top of this page into here--Kkrouni/Ккроуни/ΚκρΩυνι 17:45, 23 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

First of all the second one links here, so you can't click it (It took me a while to realise that too) and secondly, I think I can help with those, but now I don't know why mine works. Give me a few, and for a little while (say, 3 minutes) ignore new messages, they will just be changes to you're page. here let me put that on a subpage, and I'll try and see why it went haywire.--Kkrouni/Ккроуни/ΚκρΩυνι 17:57, 23 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
I've got it! You're name (Silver seren) in a URL is Silver_seren. I just remembered that!--Kkrouni/Ккроуни/ΚκρΩυνι 17:59, 23 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Moved here: "To change you're status go to these pages : User:Silver seren/Status and User:Silver seren/Status2".SilverserenC 18:06, 23 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Almost--Kkrouni/Ккроуни/ΚκρΩυνι 18:12, 23 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'm through!

Yep, copied it from mine, and I only changed that destination, that was funny though, archive 2 linking to archive 1. Anyways, I'm done, and now check out this template : User:Silver seren/Userpageheader

WANNA BE KATE IS TRIGGERING THE SPAM FILTER! WE CAN'T LEAVE MESSAGES ON EACH OTHERS TALK PAGES UNLESS WE TAKE OFF THE TEMPLATE AHHHHHHH Well, I'm gunna still be here, but I don't want to take kate off. I might never get it back on.--Kkrouni/Ккроуни/ΚκρΩυνι 18:47, 23 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

They fixed it, so how about gloucester???--Kkrouni/Ккроуни/ΚκρΩυνι 18:55, 23 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
And have you heard about being able to edit our monoboook.js files? Here's mine, biut we can only edit our own, 'cause supposidly we can compromise each others accounts if we could edit each other's. Oh yeah, if you have the evil program firefox, than, feel welcome to click on the linked word note on my User:Kkrouni/userpage. Wow I'm boared now. I'm gunna play videogames and make the most of my summer, so now I'm on a semi-wikibreak. --Kkrouni/Ккроуни/ΚκρΩυνι 19:01, 23 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Brainbashers.com has a bunch of easy games, the one I just played (50 levels) took a few minutes, So I guess the break will start tomorrow --Kkrouni/Ккроуни/ΚκρΩυνι 19:18, 23 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Oh you saw that? Sorry about the 10 million posts on you're page... Werdnabot runs between 15 UTC to 16 UTC so it'll be cleaner tomorrow. I can transclude this if you want. I can't think of what to type for a lead though...--Kkrouni/Ккроуни/ΚκρΩυνι 19:27, 23 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Richmond! I think we can just change Richmond's wording! It's so close! Hold on let me get my cousin from gloucester, and now purge that bit of personal information from you're mind, and check Gloucester's heading--Kkrouni/Ккроуни/ΚκρΩυνι 19:55, 23 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Not at all!--Kkrouni/Ккроуни/ΚκρΩυνι 20:20, 23 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Refrences edit

They're great! I didn't know we had to do that type of formating, so I was in the dark. Thanks, and I attacked you're userpage.--Kkrouni/Ккроуни/ΚκρΩυνι 20:33, 23 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Don't have a clue how it works though, my old friend User:Cascadia did it for me before he went semi-active. It would probably look better if it had a lower pixel size, but that's up to you. I think we can remove the work in progress tag, and request a peer review don't you? Or should we do a little bit more before giving it a peer review sticker?--Kkrouni/Ккроуни/ΚκρΩυνι 20:42, 23 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Uh... How do I edit the refrences, I just see <refrences /> there.--Kkrouni/Ккроуни/ΚκρΩυνι 20:53, 23 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
No I wanted to add one. I think I know what you mean.--Kkrouni/Ккроуни/ΚκρΩυνι 21:37, 23 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
This will go on the fractle page once I find it, you might think it's cool, so use it if you want. It was generated with pascal, and paint.

[[Image:Complex fractle image.PNG]]--Kkrouni/Ккроуни/ΚκρΩυνι 21:48, 23 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

It's not stolen, just copy-edited... Well, it's not like they're gunna read our talk pages right? RIGHT? I'll clear the only evidance! And this too in a minute or so.--Kkrouni/Ккроуни/ΚκρΩυνι 22:16, 23 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Not the picture *whew*, I thought you were talking about the article's header. Just ignore that.--Kkrouni/Ккроуни/ΚκρΩυνι 22:20, 23 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
There's a program called apophysis, it generates fractle images, either with PASCAL, or a basic editor. Really, I'd upload more if Wikipedia had a use for 'em. I use them as screen savers and backgrounds.--Kkrouni/Ккроуни/ΚκρΩυνι 22:23, 23 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
You saw that too? Well let's get a refrence for each sentance then! It won't be that hard... (read really fast) accualy it will--Kkrouni/Ккроуни/ΚκρΩυνι 22:25, 23 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Uh oh! I've never used that tag before, so I kinda made a booboo...--Kkrouni/Ккроуни/ΚκρΩυνι 22:31, 23 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Great, but where to get more links... Hey let's ask someone about links!--Kkrouni/Ккроуни/ΚκρΩυνι 22:42, 23 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Help with Refrences edit

{{helpme}} As you all can see, my talkpage is super messy, so could someone help me out? It would be appreciated and I have a lot of stuff to do this summer (eg. computer camp, governer's school, vacation, pokemon videogames, etc.).

No. Do it yourself. Or wait until you come back from camp to clean up your page. Help me isn't a personal maid service. Miranda

Ok. Should we put in peer-reviews?--Kkrouni/Ккроуни/ΚκρΩυνι 01:00, 24 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

You don't want to ever be an admin? Is that really true? I'm going to observe my right to vanish to become one (there's an article on it somewhere)! So you're time with me will be short. But don't worry! When I'm an admin, I'll establish that I was Kkrouni and say hi, and help you with blocks.--Kkrouni/Ккроуни/ΚκρΩυνι 01:55, 24 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Joy! edit

Note: I made this, it's now a template, it redirects to one of my subpages, so no you can't steel it. And the following message will delete you're talk page in <12 hours because it tells the bot you're a sandbox. WHEE!

Congradulations! Then it does nothing... You know, you can opt out of having signbot sign you're comments!--Kkrouni/Ккроуни/ΚκρΩυνι 20:22, 24 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Cressant's are soooooooooooo good! Yum *rubs stomache* (said dreamily) awww cressants! You live in Britian don't you.
Are they a kind of bread that vaguely resembles a doughnut? Now I hate doughnuts becasue they remind me of these painful things between my teeth! Let's see, you might live in california like marlith, don't worry, I wake up at noon too, which would be 8 in california. Or you might live in Washington. Wow I'm stupid! It even says on you're userpage you're from Texas! I was born in Galveston ya know... No-one's peer-reviewed Gloucester though! I bet I could get some north carolinians to peer review our state, but no I had to choose some county that I don't live in! I'm talking irrationaly aren't I? Well I think I'm suffering from a lack of school. I can't wait to get back to school!--Kkrouni/Ккроуни/ΚκρΩυνι 20:40, 24 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
