Hello, Significa liberdade. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Lasha Khozashvili".

When you plan on working on it further and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. plicit 00:47, 2 February 2024 (UTC)

Hello, I'm Qwerfjkl (bot). I have automatically detected that this edit performed by you, on the page Bigyna Dahal, may have introduced referencing errors. They are as follows:

BLPPROD

Hi SL. Do you think this article was eligible for BLPPROD as it was when you tagged it? It had an IMDB external link that verifies some of the content. Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 17:46, 5 February 2024 (UTC)

Hi, @Firefangledfeathers -- I think I may have mistaken the BLPPROD nomination criteria and the BLPPROD tag removal criteria. To remove the tag, the article needs a reliable source, and IMDb is considered generally unreliable given that the information is user-generated. I have removed the BLPPROD. Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 18:19, 5 February 2024 (UTC)
Yes. It's a useful but not immediately intuitive asymmetry. Thanks for the de-tag. Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 18:44, 5 February 2024 (UTC)

List of Surinamese flags

With regard to this diff, could I ask why it was {{BLP Unsourced}} rather than just a regular {{unsourced}}? I didn't see any BLP material in that article but I didn't want to change it without checking. ~ Matthewrb Talk to me · Changes I've made 23:16, 7 February 2024 (UTC)

@Matthewrb: That would be an issue of me typing too quickly and not paying enough attention. I typed "unsourced" into Twinkle and selected the only option, which was 'Unsourced BLP' (compared to 'unreferenced' for non-BLP articles). My mistake. :) Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 00:07, 8 February 2024 (UTC)
@Significa liberdade Thank you! I just wanted to be sure, rather than just changing it. :) ~ Matthewrb Talk to me · Changes I've made 00:39, 8 February 2024 (UTC)

PMC attribute

Hello!

I noticed the page Neuroqueer theory because it was in the category "CS1 maint: PMC format" -- at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:CS1_maint:_PMC_format

You can see the previous revision of the page at https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Neuroqueer_theory&oldid=1204676044 where it was in this category.

I made the edit https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Neuroqueer_theory&oldid=prev&diff=1204677030 mainly to resolve the pmc attribute.

It was pmc=PMC8992885 whereas it should have been |pmc=8992885 (i.e., there should be no PMC prefix).

I wonder how it got that PMC prefix? Did you insert the citation manually, or you used some tool that inserted that PMC prefix?

I notice that this attribute was in the other pages too edit by other people, so I am interested to know how this prefix gets there.

Thank you in advance for letting me know. Maxim Masiutin (talk) 19:20, 7 February 2024 (UTC)

Hi, @Maxim Masiutin! Thanks for reaching out with this question. To create the bibliography and further reading lists, I started by using the "Add a citation" function in Visual Editor. Since the articles have DOIs, the feature is usually pretty good at grabbing information, but sometimes I'll manually make any adjustments in VE before moving to Source Editor. In SE, I then remove the <ref> and </ref> tags. Occasionally, "Add a citation" also selects the wrong citation type (e.g., journal instead of book), so I make those changes in SE. Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 19:32, 7 February 2024 (UTC)
Do you mean that you insert only DOI or only URL via the "Add a citation" function in Visual Editor and this function automatically fills other attributes, including "pmc" (PubMed Central), doing it incorrectly for this particular attribute? I guess we have to report this issue to the authors of this function in the Visual Editor. What do you think? It turns out to be that every citation added via the Visual Editor that have the "pmc" (PubMed Central) attribute has this attribute incorrectly formatted!? Do you have any idea on where should I report that? Maxim Masiutin (talk) 19:36, 7 February 2024 (UTC)
@Maxim Masiutin: Correct -- I only enter the DOI or URL into the "Add a citation" function in Visual Editor, so it is creating the PMC issues. I'm thinking this would be something to report on Phabricator. It looks like this issue was brought up in 2017 ("Visual Editor adds erroneous text "PMC" to citation template pmc= parameter"), and there have been issues getting movement on the coding. Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 19:45, 7 February 2024 (UTC)
Maxim Masiutin: I've gone ahead and added just a quick note to the existing Phab page just to indicate that the error is still occurring and added a sample DOI that causes the error. The ticket is listed as open, but it's not active... Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 19:56, 7 February 2024 (UTC)
Thank you for letting me know, I also left a message at https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T157152 - hope it helps. Maxim Masiutin (talk) 20:04, 7 February 2024 (UTC)
I will probably fill the bug report at https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/tag/tool-refill/ Maxim Masiutin (talk) 14:06, 8 February 2024 (UTC)
Wrong citation type that you've mentioned, i.e. journal/vs book does not matter, because both have the "pmc" attribute as an allowed attribute. The value of this attribute in any case should be a number. In your example,it should have been "8992885", not "PMC8992885". Maxim Masiutin (talk) 19:37, 7 February 2024 (UTC)
I also noticed that the reFill tool at https://refill.toolforge.org/ also adds this prefix. Probably, multiple tools use the same source code library or API. I submitted a message with bug report at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Zhaofeng_Li#Refill_bug_reports - however, I don't know whether it was an appropriate place for reFill bug reports. WikiCup 2024 February newsletter

The 2024 WikiCup is off to a flying start, with 135 participants. This is the largest number of participants we have seen since 2017.

Our current leader is newcomer   Generalissima (submissions), who has one FA on John Littlejohn (preacher) and 10 GAs and 12 DYKs mostly on New Zealand coinage and Inuit figures. Here are some more noteworthy scorers:

As a reminder, competitors may submit work for the first round until 23:59 (UTC) on 27 February, and the second round starts 1 March. Remember that only the top 64 scoring competitors will make it through to the second round; currently, competitors need at least 15 points to progress. If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, and you hope to get it promoted before the end of the round, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. However, please remember to continue to offer reviews at GAN, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which could otherwise be caused by the Cup. As ever, questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup and the judges (Cwmhiraeth (talk · contribs), Epicgenius (talk · contribs), and Frostly (talk · contribs)) are reachable on their talk pages. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. WikiCup 2024 March newsletter

The first round of the 2024 WikiCup ended at 23:59 (UTC) on 27 February. Everyone with at least 30 points moved on to Round 2, the highest number of points required to advance to the second round since 2014. Due to a six-way tie for the 64th-place spot, 67 contestants have qualified for Round 2.

The following scorers in Round 1 all scored more than 300 points:

In this newsletter, the judges would like to pay a special tribute to   Vami_IV (submissions), who unfortunately passed away this February. At the time of his death, he was the second-highest-scoring competitor. Outside the WikiCup, he had eight other featured articles, five A-class articles, eight other good articles, and two Four Awards. Vami also wrote an essay on completionism, a philosophy in which he deeply believed. If you can, please join us in honoring his memory by improving one of the articles on his to-do list.

Remember that any content promoted after 27 February but before the start of Round 2 can be claimed in Round 2. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, feel free to review one of the nominations listed on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages. Good luck! Introduction to contentious topics

You have recently edited a page related to complementary and alternative medicine, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template. tgeorgescu (talk) 02:59, 7 March 2024 (UTC)

Recent Redirect

Hi and thank you for taking the time to review the Jenny Don't article. Could you provide some suggestions for enhancing the original article to ensure it stands on its own merit rather than merely redirecting to the band's page? The references originally sourced from band articles, but focused on the individual. Perhaps instead of a direct redirect, creating a stub could be a viable option, especially until more references are obtained? Any suggestions on how to enhance the article and potentially reinstate it in the future would be greatly appreciated.ChiliDog22 (talk) 22:32, 14 March 2024 (UTC)

Hi, ChiliDog22! Thanks for reaching out. The important thing is showcasing that she meets Wikipedia's notability guidelines outside of being a member of Jenny Don't and the Spurs. Hi, Jolly73881: Thank you for reaching out! Unfortunately, the article relies primarily on two sources from Blogspot, which is considered a generally unreliable source. I also removed two of the sources you added. One of the sources was removed because information from the source was copy-pasted into the article without paraphrasing. This is considered a copyright violation, which is not acceptable on Wikipedia. The other source was removed because it provided a copy-pasted version of a Wikipedia page. This is considered a circular reference and is also not acceptable. The third source you added has a broken link. I highly recommend reviewing Wikipedia's guidelines for what makes a reliable source. Copyright violation of CC BY content?

Hi Significa liberdade, thanks so much for your recent review work on the Open Book Collective wikipedia entry. I noticed you flagged some portions of the content as copyright violations (see the entry's Contribution History), and was hoping to ask if you could clarify on why you had chosen to do so?

The marked content had been available / shared openly under permissive CC licenses (see marked sources https://journals.publishing.umich.edu/jep/article/id/3372/ & https://zenodo.org/records/7961527 - both of which are licenced under CC BY 4.0, thus requiring attribution of the authors as a condition of re-use, which I believe I had provided?) so I was wondering if instead of deleting all that text, a simple addition of the Creative Commons text attribution notice mark would have sufficed here? (and my apologies for having failed to do so previously!)

Thanks so much in advance for considering my input here, and with best wishes, Flavoursofopen (talk) 11:54, 29 March 2024 (UTC)

New Pages Patrol newsletter April 2024

Hello Significa liberdade,

New Page Review queue January to March 2024

Backlog update: The October drive reduced the article backlog from 11,626 to 7,609 and the redirect backlog from 16,985 to 6,431! Congratulations to Schminnte, who led with over 2,300 points.

Following that, New Page Patrol organized another backlog drive for articles in January 2024. The January drive started with 13,650 articles and reduced the backlog to 7,430 articles. Congratulations to JTtheOG, who achieved first place with 1,340 points in this drive.

Looking at the graph, it seems like backlog drives are one of the only things keeping the backlog under control. Another backlog drive is being planned for May. Feel free to participate in the May backlog drive planning discussion.

It's worth noting that both queues are gradually increasing again and are nearing 14,034 articles and 22,540 redirects. We encourage you to keep contributing, even if it's just a single patrol per day. Your support is greatly appreciated!

WMF work on PageTriage: The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers deployed the rewritten NewPagesFeed in October, and then gave the NewPagesFeed a slight visual facelift in November. This concludes most major work to Special:NewPagesFeed, and most major work by the WMF Moderator Tools team, who wrapped up their major work on PageTriage in October. The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers will continue small work on PageTriage as time permits.

Recruitment: A couple of the coordinators have been inviting editors to become reviewers, via mass-messages to their talk pages. If you know someone who you'd think would make a good reviewer, then a personal invitation to them would be great. Additionally, if there are Wikiprojects that you are active on, then you can add a post there asking participants to join NPP. Please be careful not to double invite folks that have already been invited.

Reviewing tip: Reviewers who prefer to patrol new pages within their most familiar subjects can use the regularly updated NPP Browser tool.

draft / wiki help pages

I do hope for patience here. First, earlier today I replied regarding your moving an article to draft status. I don't see that message here, so can you confirm that you got it (re Felix Albrecht Harta)? Second, and more apologies, I didn't quite grasp everything that went before this morning. But... You removed the template for a stub on Austrian painters and you removed the template referencing the corresponding German wikipedia page. I restored them and didn't mean for it to look like pure defiance. But please explain: I'm following published wiki help but seeing these changes. Is referencing the topic in another language now verboten? Why was that unacceptable? Is designating the article as a stub reserved for more senior editors? Was my doing so unacceptable? Please let me know and I'd beg you to fix the relevant help pages. This feels like unnecessary wheel-spinning. Valuenyc (talk) 17:53, 5 April 2024 (UTC)

Hi, @Valuenyc! Thank you for reaching out! I did not see your previous message. It looks like you responded to the message I left on your talk page. On Wikipedia, users are not automatically informed when someone replies to a message they left unless that user has subscribed the message, which I had not done. If you want to ensure that an editor is notified that you're responding to them, you'll want to ping them, which can be done by typing the @ symbol, which should bring up a list of users involved in the "conversation". It looks like w.carter provided information about this on your talk page in 2015, so you can also check out that message for more information.
Now to address your concerns. :) First, I removed the stub template not because you're not allowed to place them but rather because the article isn't a stub, which is good! According to Wikipedia guidelines, "A stub is an article deemed too short and incomplete to provide encyclopedic coverage of a subject". I use Rater to determine whether an article is a stub. Second, I removed the statement at the bottom of the article that attributed content to the German Wikipedia because that information should be provided in an edit summary, not in the article itself (see Wikipedia's how-to guide on translating articles from other languages). When I removed the sentence, I included it in my edit summary, which provided the attribution necessary. Does that make sense? You've done nothing wrong, and I really appreciate the work you're doing! Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 19:10, 5 April 2024 (UTC)
Okay, thanks for the reminder about the ping. I haven't really done much in all these years, so I had long forgotten.
I guess I also never really understood much about stubs, so thanks for that. I have deleted the template from my revision. (How nice!)
I'm not getting the business about the German wikipedia page. But I cannot find the page where I THOUGHT I read that this should be included in the article text. So I guess I have to rely on your greater experience. Deleted but incorporated into the edit summary.
So those are my minor questions. I have added some references to address the major issue. Do I really have to wait up to 2 months to get this published?
But whatever the answer to the last question, I do appreciate your help and explanations. Valuenyc (talk) 20:03, 5 April 2024 (UTC)
You're welcome, Valuenyc! The expected wait time to have a draft reviewed varies depending on the available reviewers. For instance, some people may feel uncomfortable reviewing articles outside of their expertise. Most articles do not take two months to be reviewed though. :) Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 20:13, 5 April 2024 (UTC)
